“He’s a bear. I’m a wolf. It can’t work out. It won’t.”

Nova is a wolf shifter who came to the bear clan to help out with Hawke’s security system. She’s shy and has been told to keep to herself since she was little. Her father is harsh and overbearing, pun intended.

When the mating gaze happens, Nova’s father locks her up in the bear Alpha’s house, away from her mate--away from the person created to make her whole.

Nova has dreamed of a sweet and caring mate since she was a girl, but she never expected Reed.

Reed knew from the first moment he saw her that she was special. His bear knew it too. Pine set up a meeting. Right there in front of the Creator and both Alphas and everyone else, they fell into the mating gaze. Their hearts stopped and then beat as one. She was his, and he felt like he had always belonged to her.

You can’t pick your mate or the trouble that comes with her.

He’s from a clan. She’s from a pack. He’s from the south. She’s from the north. Their worlds will either collide or crash--it’s all up to them.

Bolden is book 5 of the Bayou Bear Chronicles.

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

Oh heck yes. I am here for this book...this series. And I inhaled it. Would have finished it the night before had it not been for taking nighttime cough medicine. But let me tell you something, I was so glad to be back with these bears. It’s been 2 years since we have been immersed in their world but once I started it, it was as if no time had passed at all.

BOLDEN takes place just days where MOLTEN left off-with Nova and Reed realizing they are mated to one another. Their story was sweet as can be as they got to know each other after their mating gaze. But it was also a bit heartbreaking as they dealt with Nova’a family and the shame her family believed the mating seemed to have brought on. Will they be able to work through the hurt Nova’s family feels? Will Reed’s clan accept a wolf into their fold?

Quick read, beautiful romance, and excellent writing...BOLDEN was well worth the wait. Looking forward to more from this series. Felix is back at it and I am all over whatever she is putting out. Give me more!! 5 Stars!

More descriptive

I waited a long time for this book and it did not disappoint. I do wish it was a little longer. My only problem was the lack of description. I knew Nova had curly hair and the color of her eyes nothing else. I only knew her complexion and hair color from the cover but was she Black, biracial, Hispanic I still don't know. Reed wasn't really described at all. I just knew he was muscular and the color of his hair wasn't said until the end of the book. Maybe he was described in the earlier books, I don't know but if this is my first read his looks was completely from my imagination which was disappointing Most of the other characters weren't really described either. I hope the next book will be much more descriptive. The story itself was still really good but I would have given it a five if I knew what he looked like.

Legit read this in one sitting because I wanted to see what happened next! As with all of the Bayou Bear books, I love the show of love, not just between couples, but within their families as well. Really heart warming and overall sweet to read. Can't wait to see if the next book is about Tara!

Cute short when you need a break from serious

These books are over before you know it. The plot isn't overly complicated but the characters are lovable and cute. This one was a bit preachy on abstinence (a clear line being drawn with p in v) but it is enjoyable.

Truth

This novel is a great depiction of the injustice still alive and well in our own society today. It shows love does conquer all.
