Book 9 in this Southern Fiction series. It’s a new year in Chancey, and hope abounds. Carolina hopes her daughter, Savannah, will figure out what she’s doing after graduation, hopes her husband, Jackson, working from home won’t drive her crazy, and hopes being a grandma to her son Will’s new baby will be as fun as everyone says. Her hopes for the rest of the town, however, are less than optimistic. Is Shannon pregnant? Is Peter the father? If he is, what will that mean for his engagement to Delaney? Speaking of engagements, is former wallflower Susan serious about marrying movie star Silas? And then there’s the special election to worry about. Missus and Laney both hope they’ll be elected mayor. Don’t say you heard it here, but most of Chancey hopes someone else runs…
“A new voice in Southern Fiction” is how a recent reviewer labels Kay Dew Shostak’s debut novel, "Next Stop, Chancey".
After being raised in a small-town in Tennessee, Kay lived around the country in a variety of settings. Taking a look at the familiar and loved from new perspectives led Kay to see, and then write about, the absurd, the beautiful, and the funny in her South.
After publishing several stories in compilation books and spending a few years in journalism, Kay wandered into writing fiction and found it hard to leave. She currently is working on the fourth book in the Chancey series and living in Fernandina Beach, Florida with her husband.
Wow! Things are really getting churned up in Chancey and I have a feeling it’s just getting started. No one is left out of the excitement in this book. Being a small town everyone knows bits and pieces of what’s going on but there are a few things that no one sees coming. This one is more of a page turner than the other books before. A wonderful bonus to what is normally just a really enjoyable cast of characters in a quaint town.
Another awesome story/book in this series! Author once again out did herself. Felt I was right there in amongest the characters who are more like family & friends. Counting the days until next book in the series is released. Thank you to the author Kay Dew Shostak for sharing your talent with us, your writing is amazing.
Perhaps my favorite of all the great Chancey books by Kay Dew Shostak. I loved following all the twists and turns of the relationships I have come to know through the series. I would definitely recommend reading this from the first book.
This series of books is one of my all time favorites and after eagerly anticipating this one, it did not disappoint! Small town life at it's finest! My only wish is that the next one was ready to be devoured!
I just can't stop reading when I start one of the Chancey books!! Such great characters and so much happening and it's like you're there in the town with them all! Looking forward to number 10, hope it will be here soon!
While I like the Chancey series and read most of them one after the other, a pause between them makes it hard to remember everything from the earlier books needed to understand the relationships in this one.
I love this series. The characters are quirky and entertaining and this book was not a disappointment. I steer clear of drama in my normal life but I can’t get enough of the drama in these books. Definitely an easy fun read. Definitely the kind of book you read in between tougher material.
I really enjoyed this latest installment in the Chancey Series. Sitting down with a Chancey book feels like a Girls' Night Out! The laughter, the banter, the gossip...the perfect escape. Looking forward to #10.
