Oh this book. The first in a series of a psychologically twisted horror story, that is told through the eyes of a 4 yr. old girl who's dad is a cannibalistic serial killer. Yeah, its definitely somewhat shocking, but at the same time its a want to read more type of book

This is going to be a messed up series. It's been a while since I've read a book by Sea Caummisar but she never disappoints. There isn't a lot of blood and gore in this one but it's the first book in the series and there are plenty of triggers and I can tell the shits going to hit the fan. I am diving right into the next one 4.5 for a solid start to this one .......onto book #2

I do wish I had more blood in this one, but she’s still so young. So innocent. If we weren’t taught the difference between right and wrong, how much differently would our own lives had ended up? Imagine thinking that eating people was normal. With television and books being monitored, what our children learn falls upon us. At least until they get school age.

A disturbing and deeply emotional read told from the POV of a four-year-old girl. I found it fascinating to experience the story through such an innocent lens, especially given the horrific circumstances of being raised by a cannibalistic serial killer. The perspective made the story even more unsettling, and I couldn’t stop reading because I needed to know what would happen next. Definitely check the trigger warnings before diving in.

I’m not sure

Okay so firstly imma put a warning on this coz I didn’t know what to expect. I hate animals being hurt so I just don’t like it. I really wanted something dark to read but I think is this too dark for me? For others this book will be amazing for me I don’t know if I’ll make it to book 10 😢 but I’ll read on as I’m intrigued

my first Caummisar book and i'm definitely like WTF!

i didn't really know what to expect from this when i got it mostly because the little girl is so young (age 4). and like...if i were looking at all of this in terms of reality, i would have to say that this is pretty far fetched. BUT i was not looking for a reality type book. i was looking for scary, horrific, over the top grossness. and, for the most part that's what i got.

So, like i said, i can't imagine a real 4 year old doing any of this (not because it couldn't happen, just because it just seems so questionable that they would be coherent enough/"understand" enough to actually do and say some of the things happening here. ANOTHER BUT...i don't know what it is like for a 4 year old going through extreme physical abuse, therefore, all i'm saying is that my reality does not match that of this story)

anyway...i liked this book because i actually felt like a super scared 4 year old kid. every time something happened or she was put in danger, i felt it. and maybe that has something to do with my own upbringing (no i was not raised like this or really anything close to this).

I am anticipating the next book where Deicide is 10. it will be interesting to see how she's grown and what her life will be like having started school and keeping these secrets.

if you're considering reading this and have read the summary, you might as well do it. its not expertly written but then again, its in the voice of a child. so. ya know. READ IT. PLEASE.

I enjoyed this and devoured it in one sitting. I like extreme horror/splatter, but I don't like animal abuse. It did however add to the story/was a necessary part of the plot, so I get it. I think at times the language and internal thoughts were a little too far advanced for the main character. she is only 4 after all and in her internal dialogue sections used some words that little children wouldn't be familiar with. overall it was a great book and I am going to purchase the paper copy of the entire series.

Whew. There’s a lot to unpack here & is definitely tough read. It was a quick, easy read though and I didn’t want to put it down. It picked up immediately and kept my attention the entire time. I’m excited to see how the rest of the series goes. Definitely check trigger warnings, there’s animal and child abuse happening along with multiple others.

If it wasn’t for the amount of animal cruelty I would have liked this one. But I don’t think I can continue the series if they include as much as this one. Loved the concept and craziness I just can’t read about a dog being hit multiple times.

This book stressed me out sooo much 😭 The abuse parts were honestly really hard to read but at the same time, I couldn’t stop. I just kept going because I was so curious about what would happen next and how she’ll grow up through all this.

It’s heavy, dark, and definitely not an easy read, but that’s also what makes it so gripping. The story makes you feel protective of her, while also pushing you to see how strong she can become.

Overall: stressful but addictive. I like it, and now I just want to know what’s waiting for her next. 👀

I’m honestly not even sure how to put my thoughts into words. Raised by a Killer has a really strong and unsettling concept, especially knowing the child is only four years old. The nature vs. nurture angle is fascinating…you almost expect that being raised in that environment, she wouldn’t see anything as wrong, simply because it’s all she’s ever known. That idea alone makes the book compelling. Still, this story gives you a lot to process, and it’s one of those books that lingers in your mind long after you finish.

Love the story again. Well written in the eyes of a 4 years old child. You really feel like you are 4 and have that innocence and wondering what’s all the evil about. Like the author said I want to complain about the animal abuse nearly made me stop reading yes hurt the child not the animal 🥴 Will continue and see what happens

Extreme horror novel. Especially because it involves hurting children and animals. Very interesting pov and idea for a book. These are short and make up a 10-story book. Didn’t love or hate it. Will probably read the rest sporadically. Not sure I could read all at once. Very sad/screwed up topic.

This series didn’t start how I thought it would. I guess I forgot I was reading extreme horror? Idk. I expected Pops to be somewhat nice/kind to Decide considering she’s only four.

I had to keep reminding myself that she was only four years old because she seemed rather mature throughout the book.

I feel really bad for her and Tickles.

Captivating

Firstly I made a error by reading g the second book firsr , for some reason. I bought both books at the same time but somehow clicked book 2 first and read it and don't realise until I went to get the 2nd book. To find I'd just read it. It didn't deter me from reading or take away the story. It just made it clearer from the 2nd book. I enjoyed this one just as much, it made me cringe every time pops or grams just one of them. So I can see where the extreme comes from, although there isn't the blood and gore. It's more cringing at how a young girl is taught and punished. It really pulls at your heart and makes you cringe. But it highlights this kind of behaviour as it does happen. And is awful to think about but maybe upon reading this and then heading a youngster talking in such a way may bring it to your attention. I love the little girl and tickles. They are great characters. I'd definitely recommend but be aware of the extremeness of the story. It's not bloody but it isn't for everyone and it does highlight it o. The front cover.

Okay so basically this book was incredibly fucked up. When Caummisar said “extreme horror,” she truly meant it.

The story is told through the eyes of 4 year old Deicide and what she witnesses her serial killer father doing.

This was a super messed up book but I still read it all and even read the second book so far as of writing this review. I’d like to think of this book as ‘junk food,’ It’s not super enjoyable but you just keep eating anyways.

This story was definitely more gruesome than I was expecting. I was kinda just expecting this girl having to witness her father like kidnap and murder women but oh wow was I mistaken.

If you decide to read this book, good luck! You’ll need it.
