AKA Barbara A. Masci & Barbara Masci-Goss

From Kindle Author Page:

Barbara Masci Goss is now just Barbara Goss. I live in Western New York State and have three grown sons, two step daughters and 10 grandchildren. I wrote my books in the early '90's and now that I'm retired I have obtained the book rights and am converting them to Kindle. That's exciting for me because I don't read paper books at all anymore. I have designed new covers with a new author name: Barbara Goss. My first two books "Captured Heart" and "Forbidden Legacy" went to a second printing in the mid '90's and the publisher added my name as Barbara Masci-Goss, but I now prefer to keep it short and sweet.

From Author Website:

I'm from Western New York, and I live with my husband and two cats, Mandy and Molly.

I wrote these books in the early 1990's in paperback. My publishers were Fleming Revell and Baker Book House.

Now, I have the rights and have put them out on E-Books so people can still enjoy them.

My goal in writing these books is to provide clean but still romantic and adventurous novels for all ages. I've always felt that we needed more clean, wholesome books. When I wrote these books there were but a handful of Christian romance writers. Now, thankfully there are more. My biggest influence in writing was Grace Livingston Hill. Enjoy.

Lies vs Truth!
What is it with certain people that they feel the need to blatently lie in order to get what they want? I can never fully understand this mentality because in every instance when this happens I see the person constantly having to 'look over his or her shoulder' to make sure no one has found out the truth. It's actually a very sad way to live life that way!
Enough of my philosophising and on with my review.
I mentioned my thoughts on lying because that is exactly what Cameron starts out doing and he eventually finds himself wondering whether in fact it would be better to come clean to his new wife or not or would he lose everything he was trying to achieve by doing so.
This concept was very cleverly written into the story with a very pleasing solution and I am happy to say, a happy ever after ending for four really interesting and most endearing characters.
The story was such that I just had to keep reading to find out what would in fact happen and whether Cameron could find a way to resolve the mess he was making of his marriage to a fabulous lady.
My review above is based on my own personal thoughts and ideas on this story and it is given voluntarily after reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the book.

Can a lawyer pull off a proxy bride and adopted two siblings as a ready made family? Having his new bride thinking the children are really his? Can he pull it off not only with her but to get the state of Kansas to vote him into Senate?
The author adds in the importance of allowing God as your Savior. So through trying to find the new person he has become, it also included a change in attitude toward family and God. Then everything comes into place.
A murder mystery throughout the book keeps you guessing as to who really did the murder.
A wonderfully written book. I enjoyed every moment of it.
I did listen to it and the man did an ok job. I’ve heard him before and have gotten used to him. At first it seemed awkward to have a man read for a woman, but he does do a good job

I highly enjoyed A Bride for Cameron. The plotline was clever, and the characters well-written. Cameron is a good man who makes some poor choices and has to live with the consequences. I enjoyed watching him develop and work through his decisions about what to do. Hannah is a gracious woman of great integrity, but not judgmental. Her strong faith and gracious spirit affect everyone around her. The author does a great job of evoking the era through dialect and description. The book is a quick read, but not “fluff,” as themes of God’s love and grace, forgiveness, and second chances are woven throughout.

A Bride for Cameron
The Proxy Brides
By: Barbara Goss
Narrated by: J. Scott Bennett

Barbara Goss does it again. She clears my mind and hands me a story that is so worth the listen. Cameron has his sights on being in the senate, but he needs to have a family for his image. What better way than by proxy bride? But wait, he needs children too! The orphan train is a good place to get a couple, but he's not telling his new bride they are adopted. Now when Hannah comes to live with him, the basis of their marriage is set on lies that just keep growing. Can their marriage last? Will she be able to forgive him? And what will happen to the children? This is one of those stories that pulls you in and invests your heart. The relationship between Hannah and the kids is priceless, and their growth under her care just makes you love her. Cameron is harder to like for obvious reasons. But Hannah's faith and influence turned my opinion around. It's a wonderful listen and the kids just stole my heart!

J Scott Bennett is just so perfect for this series. Every time I hear his voice, the stories come alive. He has a vast array of voices, able to give me the adults and turn the scene around and give me a 2 and 5 year old in realistic voices. Always a pleasure to give him a listen.

Once I open a new book by Barbara Goss, I cannot stop reading! Her Proxy Bride books are some of her best work! She has a knack for writing characters you feel kindred spirits with. Her plots and storylines make you feel like you are indeed right there living the life of her characters. This book does not disappoint!
Cameron starts his bid for a congressional seat with a few deep lies. His partner convinces him it is the only way to go. He must have a wife and family. Mail order to Proxy Bride is what he decides to do.
Hannah needs a way to survive after the loss of her parents and then the subsequent loss of her teaching position. Cameron's ad came at just the right moment. She seizes the opportunity with honesty tells him
why she needs to start over.
Once they meet there is definite attraction, but will his lies drive them apart? Can they overcome what seem to be insurmountable problems and to add a little mystery, can they also solve a Murder?
This book is definitely a must read! Pick it up today!

The Proxy Bride Series is a sweet Christian series that takes you back in time to when people spent their evenings sitting on the porch in rocking chairs and sipping hand squeezed lemonade. There is just something about the stories that makes you sit back and say, "Ahh!".

The story of Cameron and Hannah starts out on the deceptive side. Cameron has decided to run for office and is told his chances are better if he has a family. Enter the mail-order bride concept and the orphan train. Soon he has his family. Hannah is a godly woman and has no idea what Cameron has done. Once Cameron accompanies her to church, he decides he can't keep the truth from her anymore. Will he lose everything he now holds dear?

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narration by J. Scott Bennett was fantastic! What a great voice for a western story.

I was gifted a copy of this audiobook. All thoughts are my own.

The author has brought us a sweet and heartwarming story yet one fraught with lots of human frailties including deception, lies, manipulation, and dishonesty. This is Cameron and Hannah's story. Cameron, who has political ambitions, must have a family in order to reach his goal. He marries Hannah by proxy and obtains two children from an orphanage representing they are his children. It does not take long for Hannah to start discovering her husband's lying, deceiving ways and to realize the children are not even his. After coming under conviction for his deception while at church, Cameron confesses to Hannah. Will this be the undoing of the marriage, the family and Cameron's political ambitions? Will the couple ever be able to reach a HEA? Be sure to read this very engrossing and heart rendering story. It is a real page turner, and I know you will enjoy it.

Cameron and Hannah

This is a sweet proxy mail order bride tale written by Barbara Goss. She has done an excellent job with the plot and the characters.Cameron is a young attorney in a very small town. The only hope to enlarge and improve the town was for him to be elected to the senate to bring the rail road in. His law partner convinced him he needed a wife and children for a family in order to win the senate seat. Hence Hannah as his proxy wife and two orphans from the orphan train. You will enjoy discovering if they find their happily ever after and along the way solve a murder.

This is another sweet mail order bride story with a bit of a twist, Cameron is less than honest when he asks Hannah to be his proxy bride. The first thing Hannah says she expects from him is honesty which immediately creates a wall around Cameron because of his guilty feelings. And Hannah cannot figure out where the wall came from. Throw two small children, a former saloon girl, and some outlaws into the mix and you get an adventurous, romantic tale of love and forgiveness.

The narration was good. J. Scott Bennet is not my favorite, but always does a decent job.

I requested this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

The marriage was one of convenience to both Hanna and Cameron. However, they both had very different reasons to wed. Cameron was wanting to appear as a family man to win an election. He was willing to lie to get achieve his goals. Hanna had recently lost her job and had to sell her home to pay the back taxes. She was going to have to move and marriage seemed a good option.
Hannah didn’t expect to be mothering two small children. Worse yet she determines her husband has lied about their origins.
This story was about learning to trust, learning to forgive, and learning to love. There was also a bit of a mystery to solve.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. Again Barbara Goss delivers an excellent great story that will fill your heart. Cameron wants to run for the State Senate and is told his chances are better if he has a family. He orders a mail-order bride and marries her by proxy and in the mean time adopts two orphans. Hannah enters this marriage unaware of the lies that Cameron has told her. The author provided a well rounded story that keeps your interest from beginning to end. It is great to see how God works in their marriage. The narrator did an excellent job with the characters, their personalities and the overall story.

Hannah and Cam 💞

Cameron is a small town lawyer and needs a family in order to run for state senator in Kansas. His friend and fellow lawyer, Joe, suggests a proxy bride and adopting a child or two.

Hannah lives in Chicago and is alone in the world. Now she’s lost her position as a teacher and doesn’t know what to do, until she sees Cameron’s ad in the Matrimonial Times.

Unfortunately, Cam doesn’t tell Hannah that he adopted the children. He sinks deeper and deeper into his lies. Will Cam be able to dig his way out and redeem himself to Hannah?

A sweet read/listen by Barbara Goss. Cameron realizes that being deceptive wasn't good when it came to finding a wife. I love how the story plays out and that they become a happy family.

There is also some suspense in here that keeps you engaged and sleuthing to find out who done it.

The narrative was very well done.

I listened to the audiobook of this story. Narration was good. Hannah needs a new life and Cameron needs a wife. Hannah marries him by proxy and heads to Kansas to start her new life. What she didn't count on, is her new husband to be a disceitful. It will be a struggle, but she has fallen in love with the children and maybe God will help.
I was given a copy of this story by the author for an honest review.

A Bride for Cameron

Cameron needs a wife and a family in order to run for Senator. Hannah needs a new start after losing her job and home. After deciding on marriage by proxy, Hannah arrives in town, not knowing Cameron has pretty much lied about everything. When Hannah finds out, will she leave or try to make their marriage work? Great characters and a plot involving murder, some shady characters and a whodunit. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and recommend it.

Barbara Goss gives us a story that mixes romance, mystery, lies and the practical application of the Ten Commandments. Cameron really didn’t understand how his life would be changed when his mail order/proxy bride, Hannah, said she was a believer. Hannah with her solid belief changes lives and a town

Sweet story of God's timing and forgiveness

God is never late, and He can change the heart of anyone. The story had sweet and likable characters, who learned to love with God's love. I enjoy historical fiction, but gor those who don't, this story isn't wrapped up in the history, but in the relationships.

Christian Historical Romance

Such a cute story premise! Adding a murder mystery was a nice touch. I'm confused how Cameron could act like he was married with children, yet no one would wonder why they had never met his wife and children, or even knew he had a wife and children!
Scott does his usual excellent work narrating this unique story.

An wonderful story

I love this story. At the start of this marriage, it really made you wonder how they could possibly keep this union going. What about the children? Could they follow what they were told and keep the secret? This book kept you turning the pages.

To deceive or not to deceive

There's nothing like a bit of mystery and romance together to get a reader's attention. Add in two cute kids and you've got the perfect scenario for a good life unless it's all a lie. Man oh man is Cameron in trouble! What a great story.

Forgiveness and true Christian love runs deep trough the theme of this story. Do you like a mystery? This story also has a bit of a murder mystery in the plot. The two children are adorable. I thoroughly enjoyed the story from the first page to the end.

Nice Story

A nice quick read. Hannah was raised in a strict religious background and was never allowed to be alone with a man. Now, through a series of circumstances, she’s going to be a mail order bride!

Disappointing read

This was such a disappointment. I struggled to finish it. I wanted to quit reading in the middle, and I tried to talk myself into doing just that on more than one occasion. The storyline was too simplistic and predictable.
