An ER doctor. A Fire Chief. Hilarity, danger...and true love conquering all. All that Dr. Jenna Novak wants is some peace and quiet, and the leisurely pace of small-town living. And after five years in Haiti – hurricanes, earthquakes, gang warfare, and let’s not mention the scandal and embarrassment – moving to Serenity seems to be the best thing she did in a very, very long while. However, Serenity turns out to be anything but quiet. Her baptism by fire is just the beginning; there are quirky events like Halloween Great Pumpkin Vigil, there’s surviving a runaway Burmese python, rescuing neglected dogs (and a puppy!), finding a missing child, rushing around the ER at the medical center...and there’s her neighbor, the incredibly hot Fire Chief Logan Cooper. But why did things have to get so complicated with him? It was supposed to be something fun with an attractive, gray-eyed hunk (hey, is having the whole town place bets on your sex life also fun, or embarrassing?), so why is it suddenly becoming something...well, a lot more? And why did her obsessive ex, a recovering addict, have to follow her into her new life...and will she be able to survive him? Will Logan get to her in time, and rescue her...again...just one more time? BOOK 2: Dr. Jenna Novak is determined to prove her capabilities as an emergency room doctor to her demanding boss, Dr. Quinn MacLeary. There’s already a shadow hanging over her good name, and she doesn’t plan for it to follow her here from Haiti. She’s formed an awkward alliance with the sexy fireman, Logan Cooper, who also happens to be her next-door neighbor. Even though he’s proving to be very good at pleasing her in bed, she has to remind him they’re not in a relationship. She’s been there, and done that . . . and look how it turned out. The fact that her ex, Kent, has begun to call her, insisting that they get back together, makes her more adamant. No relationships, thanks. An early morning run leads to the discovery of a tortured, abandoned puppy trapped in a bog. What’s a girl to do, but rescue him? She soon realizes she’s also trapped in the fast-rising muck. And the only person she can turn to for help is Logan.
The series is even better in book 2! Dr. Jenna Novak accepts a position in the ER department at a hospital in Serenity. She craves a quieter life after working in Haiti with Doctors Without Borders. She had no desire to meet anyone but then Logan Cooper, Fire Chief, enters her life. The story picks up in the second book with Dr. Jenna's relationship with Logan suffering some unforeseen setback. What makes Dr. Novak so likeable and connectable is her strength and resolve in how she deals with life's obstacles, especially what she endured working in Haiti. Add the chemistry between Jenna and Logan and the story really takes off. What makes me laugh about this book are the quirkiness and antics of Jenna's neighbors. Serenity is a small town, and everyone knows everything that is going on. If you like romance and laughing while reading a novel, you will enjoy Finding Me in Serenity. Looking forward to reading the next novel in the series.

Short but definitely worth the read....not everything is serene in serenity.
What happens when you cross a broken person with an overly confidant person? How do they traverse the mine lines that have etched deep scars in the psyche of one of them? How can a person who doesn’t know how to communicate the horrors they have lived, overcome their fears so that the one person who seems more than willing to break up the dark clouds that live within bring the sun back? How can they navigate the waters of small town life? How will they come through the other side when they have road bumps popping up through their journey to possibly forever? Short but a page turner nonetheless. Can’t wait for book 3. Not everything is serene in serenity.

Dr. Jenna Novak is trying to avoid any relationships and prefers the friends-with-benefits type of situation she is trying to manage with Fire Chief Logan Cooper. She is also trying hard to please her boss in the ER at work who is extremely demanding. To add to her complications, her ex is trying to push his way back into her life, and he’s the primary reason she swore off relationships to begin with! It sounds like living in the town of “Serenity” is anything but serene!
Grab your copy and follow your favorite characters as they deal with all the ups and downs encountered in a small town. Some of the things poor Jenna has had to cope with will make you shiver! And with Logan wanting a deeper relationship, the issue is still open for discussion. Fun characters and lots of excitement. You won’t want to miss it!
This is book two of six in the “Find Me in Serenity” series and you definitely will want to read them in order. Written in the third person, we continue to learn more about our main characters Jenna and Logan. There are also lots of fun side characters — neighbors, coworkers, and townsfolk — involved it their lives. Logan is working on building trust with Jenna and it seems to be working to a point.
Ms. Cruise has a knack for telling about small towns — nobody locks their doors, neighbors stop by with welcome gifts of food & beverage, neighbors walking in your home without waiting for a response after a quick knock, and everyone knowing your business.
I continue to enjoy the banter between Jenna and Logan, love the “Smokey & the Bandit” reference, and those Grace Triplet Sisters are a hoot!
Dr Jenna Novak's drama just intensifies. I'm still in shock from the first book and the snake in the shower. Her job as an emergency room Doctor gets more complicated and it's doesn't help that she has a demanding boss. Things still linger in the past from Haiti and her addict ex is continuing to be a problem. She's signed off on relationships but is enjoying her friends with benefits relationship with the sexy fireman, Logan. He wants more or does he. She doesn't or does she? An abandoned puppy and so much more. This series has a great start and has already pulled me in. Twists, surprises, angst, drama, danger and so much more. Buckle up because this is going to be one crazy ride. I read an arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
So, Coop decided Jenna was a go after the “no fishing in another man’s pond” and things started to heat up, as in beds, showers, any surface...oh my. When she goes for a run and nearly drowns saving a dog stuck, zip tied in a bog, Coop is livid. He has it out with the sheriff and the dog’s owner. Jenna keeps the dog and aptly names him Bandit, Coop is Smokey. Jenna meets more of her neighbors and they quickly become friends, but what we really want to know is, what is the deal with Coop and the sheriff and why this ex can’t seem to get the picture. I’m really loving these books and I can’t wait to see it all play out.

This is a continuation of book one. Jenna and Logan are a hot mess. She is out oh pretty a run which turns into her needing Logan to save her and a puppy. You get more people added to the story. After this bringing together of him saving her life things get heated yet again with them. Her ex is still bugging her. After being caught mid sex these two make a bet one will give in to the other in less than a weeks time. I love this couple but Jenna does grate on my last nerve with her OTT defiance of them not being “an us”. We are left on a cliffhanger. Can’t wait for book 3. Short, fast before bed story.

Jenna finds a dog in a bog and tried to rescue it but needs Logan to rescue them both. Things heat up between the two of them also and then the bet comes into play. This is intense as Jenna keeps saying she is not involved with Logan, and she doesn't like him like that. All lies she is kidding herself with. Well written and just loved the dialogue in this. So funny in places, it had me laughing. I really enjoy these characters and look forward to more of this series!

Book two in the series and it is a captivating read! It is well written, emotionally deep, engaging, funny, and steamy with drama, animal abuse, fun neighbors, and it leaves me excited for the drama to unpack in the remaining books. The characters are likeable; the chemistry between them is off the charts. Definitely recommended!

In book 2 of 6, the romance keeps growing while Dr. Jenna gets oriented at the hospital and her hot fireman still lives next door. The characters and storyline are terrific and this time they rescue a puppy stuck in a bog. Miscommunications and twists cause situations that keep the pages turning. Kept me glued through the whole story. Well done. Can not wait for the next segment.

Jenna is still trying to find her place in Serenity. Everything is different from the life she had in Haiti. A little puppy in danger changes some things for Jenna and Logan. He can see that Jenna is even more special than he thought. The story flows easily, it is easy to read and enjoyable. It made me laugh several times. The neighbours in the community are hilarious and I laughed out with them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Jenna and Logan go together so well. Jenna always seems to need his help for some thing even though she insists they aren't a twosome. She's an er doctor and he is a fireman and they really do consume each other. Can't wait for the next installment.

Jenna recently got into town from Haiti, and lives next door to Logan. Their chemistry is strong. Jenna has sworn of men...well, maybe just relationships. LOL! Clara Cruise has written one sexy read!

An intriguing short story had its steam and had that small-town quirkiness to it. Jenna just wanted a calmer life working in an ER again, Logan is Serenity's Fire chief and her next-door neighbor.

Wowsa this book is getting steamy and hot but Jenna is still keeping Logan away from heart and she finds a puppy in trouble but is there more trouble heading her way. Never a dole moment in serenity.

STEM FMC in the medical field! I'm always looking for books with women in STEM, and this series has it. This series is written very strangely... it's like 6 tiny novels that are really just one long novel. You can't read any of them as stand alones, and each one ends on a cliff hanger, so you need to go to the next one. The spice is ok and the plot is ok, just a strange format.
