Telling a powerful story is one of the most important actions you can take in your business.Never before has storytelling been more needed. It is not dependent upon an innate skill set that you are either born with or not. It is not a cultural predisposition. It is not confined by racial or gender limitations. It is, in fact, achievable for all. It is a matter of -cultivating specific skills, awareness, and intention. The Story Advantage shows you how The Story Advantage helps you discover your innate storyteller, understand the power of story, and discover your core story. You will begin to tell and live the stories that will impact and inspire your professional and personal life.
For years, I struggled with writing a weekly email and generally avoided writing. Then I discovered the power of sharing stories and have since been able to keep up with a weekly email for several years. Each has a story with a twist and ends with a business or life lesson. I'm often asked about how I approach writing these stories and finally have an answer - read The Story Advantage. It covers everything you need to know to discover the stories within you. If you think you can't tell stories or you don't have any stories worth telling - read this book.
A compelling, short book that serves as an intro to what it might mean to "have a story," especially from a public speaking or marketing perspective: a snippet of your. life, spoken aloud in your own voice (dozens of times, until it becomes truly your own), dramatically and sincerely, culminating in a brief and profound teaching that can influence others. Not all stories work this way or serve this purpose; long-form memoir, for example, is simply different. Even if you don't believe you have an immediate need for this type of public storytelling, it is good to be aware that it is a tool in the box. This book invites you to begin.
Nothing engages an audience more than a story. The story could be merely for entertainment or have a message or it could be a teaching tool. Lisa Bloom writes that storytelling speaks to our emotions and therefore has great impact.
I enjoyed reading the many stories throughout the book. The stories, though short, were told so beautifully that I was fully immersed in them.
Lisa Bloom gives us suggestions for crafting our story such as knowing your audience and the outcome that will transform them. She writes that in order for a story to have impact it should have one clear message rather than multiple messages.
The book was enjoyable and informative. I highly recommend it.
I loved this book. As a storyteller myself, I found it refreshingly simple and practical. It takes the reader through a structure for creating a story with great explanations and examples. There are also some great stories that I hadn't seen before. I know I'll keep going back to the book as I continue to improve my own story-telling ability.

Outstanding! Bloom weaves a magical tale about the art and craft of storytelling. Along the way, you learn about the different powers you can gain by honing your story.
Inspiring and empowering to tell storys. You have to pause from time to time to reflect on the last words, so its not a book you finish quickly. The explanations and Tips are very helpful when you are at the beginning of your journey.
Not exactly what I expected but still interesting. It’s more about how to weave storytelling into your jobs and presentations, whereas I thought it would be about storytelling in writing.
What a fascinating, in-depth look at the power of using our stories to create an advantage in our business. Lisa is a natural teacher and writer. This book is a delight to read! It's filled with insights, and worth reading more than once. As a story marketing coach myself, I love the tips and classic stories woven into this book. Great book for anyone who wants to build their business using the power of storytelling!
