Don’t miss Jessica’s next book, Jude Sweet Fire - the first book in her new series, Savannah Heat, a hockey romance series chock-full of hunky men, the women that steal their hearts, and all the best feels.
I really want to LOVE this series, yet I find myself merely liking it. The characters are so well written, and there could be so much about them all. I think maybe after Hellhounds Are For Suckers, I was expecting Jessica to ramp it up a notch with her action and intrigue, instead same thing. Bast gets angry, Aiden gets playful, Julian and Helena sit around drinking coffee. Things are going on, yet I feel no sense of urgency, no sense of foreboding. For being bitten by a werewolf, Lily is remarkably calm. I just felt the whole plot and it's execution 'silly.' It's like I want to grab all the characters by their necks, shake them while yelling FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS SACRED EACH OF YOU ARE KICK ASS CHARACTERS, SOME JUST DO SOMETHING! Is it just me?
I have to say I enjoyed the story line itself but Lily is waffling between the 2 men in her life and it was getting old. As for the rest of the story, there are werewolves and the run and Lily runs right into them. From there on the book is great but at some point she needs to pick a man.
I loved the book, the series is keeping me absolutely engaged. I am though starting to feel sorry for Aidan... I hope you save the best love for him and not you know who.
Expresso Coffee pull out the arsenal, you're gonna be keeping vampire hours! No pun intended! You pick #team'Bast or #teamAdian by the end u'll be all #teamLilly!
I really enjoy this series, however this book was a little slower paced for me. Lily’s indecision over choosing Sebastian or Aiden is a bit frustrating. Great story plots otherwise. And I love every one of the characters she has created in this book. I look forward to book 4 to see where it takes us.
Expect the unexpected with this fun series. Lily is a vampire plus, and so are four of her best friends (one is also her love), the mate of one of them is a fire demon and the two of them are loved by a hellhound, and then there is the other of Lilly's loves who is a jinn, and the human who serves as their butler. The bad guys are a nasty werewolf, the Queen of the night who keeps court in NOLA, a vampire assassin, and a vampire witch. This episode is twistier than a mountain road, and just as deadly. Valerie Gilbert is stellar in performance as each of the "characters", and never loses her chirpiness.
I beta read this for friend and colleague Jessica McBrayer...and, as with the rest of the books in the series, I love it! Lily and her friends are characters you'd want to spend time with. I admit, I almost would take this down to 4.5 stars, because I got a little mad with love triangle...but it is well-done and believeable conflict-wise--you feel the tension and difficulty of the situation. The rest is fun, sexy, and humorous. As always, I look forward to reading about the further adventures of the SF Vampires. :)
Ok, I know i always say that books are good in my review, However this book was awesome. i found it and it and started at the beginning of the sreies and I can't wait until the next installment. Kudos to Mrs. McBrayrer. I love the love triangle with Sebastain and Aiden. This book has a lot of character and they are funny, smart, witty and easy to love and relate to.
this book is my least favorite in the series. The story line was entertaining, but expected. vampires and weres just go together. I guess my main issues was between Sebastian and Aiden, their quarrel and bickering for love. mainly that it was allowed and encouraged by our heroin. I was sick of that love triangle!! please let it be over in the next book!!
I loved this book! Jessica is a former student of mine....She is a great author and has such an awesome imagination. This was a good story and a fun read. Looking forward to reading more of Jesse's books! Proud moment for me!
This book is recommended for readers 18+ due to adult content.
The story here is ok. The back and forth between Aiden and Sebastian is humorous. There is a big ramp up in spice in this one that I found off putting. Still not overly graphic but more than I expected or was looking for.

Im liking listening to Lily and following her exploits. I am not fond, however, of this bizarre love triangle between Sebastian, Aiden and Lily. I don't think cheating becomes anyone.
