Dark Fate #5

Consultant

Rate this book
Having rescued the people trapped within the undead dungeon that sprang up in the Lenox Square Mall, and gotten a healthy chunk of XP in the process, Zayn Greene and his ladies are approached by the Atlanta Police Department to help them with their investigations. But the first case they bring him hits uncomfortably close to home for the former Black Knight, reminding him of one of his first defeats in the old timeline. Will this time through be different? Or will he be doomed to repeat his past mistakes?

----------------------

Author's Note: This is a story set in a world where everything we knew suddenly got turned upside down by a System coming online. This is not a tale of heroics. This is the tale of a man who has chosen to throw away his humanity and embrace his inner demon, to put himself beyond betrayal. This story features cursing, gore, enslavement, mind control, non-consensual acts, and more. If you were hoping for a tale of a white knight in the midst of the apocalypse, you're going to be disappointed. If you have triggers, consider this your warning.

Stuart Grosse

I'm a rookie author, looking to write stories that I enjoy writing. Not gonna get awards, but honestly, I'm happy with each and every person that reads my work.

Stuart is a sci-fi and anime geek, who dabbles in tabletop and video gaming. He enjoys cosplaying and has gone to DragonCon annually since 2009. Frozen Soul is his first book.

It is a sad, sad day when you finally break down and realize that you will never have the life you wanted, never do the things you wished to do, and never see the things you wanted to see. All because of a stupid lack of lightsabers.

I was a 26 y/o college student at Armstrong Atlantic State University, as a theater major. Went to school for a while before, dropped out, tried to go back, dropped out.. Not much to say other than the fact that I'm a laid back guy, and the only drama I like is the kind that's on the stage.

If I act like an idiot, or do anything to offend you, chances are it is not intentional, and I'm being oblivious. In that case, hit me upside the head, and tell me, because I don't catch subtle hints.

Decent story, but more than 31% of the book is appendix

So kindle unlimited, writes earn based on pages read/flipped. 4% into the "book" you get a 21 page character sheet that is in every book, taking you to 11%. Inside I enjoy the spell descriptions and such, but this author's style always includes an ever expanding appendix at the end. He has done this in over 60 "books" so far, so this book actually ends at 75% done. Unfortunately if he follows his usual pattern then for example by the time his short 10 mini chapter books hit say book 28 like his into the black series.. well by then half the dang book is cut and pasted appendix he calls dramatis personnel.

So be warned, the guy writes a good story but know his page count is generally 30% to upwards of 50% appendix garbage so especially in his works you pay for per book know you're getting far less story than you expect.

I started way back years ago on my reviews of Stuart Grosse simply suggesting he use a hyper link to his appendix instead of this misleading practice of posting for example that a book is 200 pages only for the reader to find the actual story is only 100 to 140 pages.

Now after years of occasionally reviewing and suggesting he handle his bloated appendix differently I simply warn new readers what to really expect.

Was this proofread or edited?

So at least one conversation happened twice.
The characters sound and act like preteens playing hero vs villain not hardened warriors with 10 years experience surviving a warzone.
Everyone is sex crazed, a bully or clueless.
Frankly my favorite character so far is the chef.
This feels like an older draft of darkmore and demon of the dungeon without being as good as either.

Sigh, the flaws continue

There still isn't a complete book, instead a 5th chapter or short story ending as 75% followed by an unnecessary character list (75 pages doesn't need it when the same or better info was in the text) AND another (incorrect, 11th not 14th) character sheet, when nothing had changed from the one in the text. One day this might be a book.

Leave politics out

When we're all trapped at home the last thing I want to read is the author's fractured political ideology while I'm looking for fantasy. I mean the mc (like all of Grosse's mc's) is a rapist slaver, but I'm sure he's a progressive deep down. The author is a neckbeard nice guy that wonders why he doesn't get laid , and this is his power fantasy.

Another solid entry in the series.

This time, Zayne faces history as he starts dealing with things he'd long forgotten. I won't give spoilers, but lots of solid action and plenty of material for future releases.

The trump joke has gotten old

At first it was kind of funny but it has gotten old like seriously Stuart did trump grab your mom by the pussy or what every other book we get multiple paragraphs just shiting on trump and his family

Wonderful action series.

This series the Dark Fate: is awesome. Having the main character James. Come back in time from ten years into the future. After a apocalypse. Is a really cool premise for a disaster Gamelit series. I can't wait for the rest of the series.

A bit predictable but. . .

Still fun. Overall, this one was easy to see coming but it serves as a setup for more to come. This is where it either gets original or winds up cookie-cutter.

Again??

Again a very good story and I'm loving the build up of the tale!! But again on page 49 he calls Hibari....Hitomi!! And Talia has become Taelia???? Same mistakes and ones that should have been picked up when proof read and Editing was done!!!

The story now has true substance

The story has truly started to develop and is now looking to become a true story rather than a teenager wet dream revenge fantasy.

A good read.

A good read. But please tone down the status page taking up 50% of the volume. I like the story and characters but seeing so much stat filler is grating after a bit.
