"Sparks. Oh, the sparks!"
SPARK, is the nineteenth book in the Steel Brothers Saga, and just when you think everything is running smoothly more mysteries have emerged from the Steel past. This is Danny Steel's story, he has returned from Denver to work with his mum as the city's Assistant District Attorney. He's also got his sights set on his gorgeous neighbour Callie Pike. As per the norm, Ms. Hardt brings passion, heat, mystery, suspense, and plenty of emotion to this story.
"Tell me, Callie. Where have you been?"
"Uh... right here?"
"So why haven't I noticed you?"
Because you were busy chasing anyone else in a skirt.
Even though they have been neighbours for years, the instant sparks and chemistry fly every which way when Donny and Callie are together. Originally setting out to be just friends with occasional benefits, they turn into so much more. Just as they are beginning their relationship hidden mysteries emerge from the Steel's past, which leads to Donny needing to investigate them further. Also, a skeleton from Callie's past returns, what trouble will this cause? Donny enlists Callie's help with his investigation, what will this do to their newly formed relationship? Is he putting her in danger?
"I might be falling for her, and that makes no sense. Donovan Steel doesn't fall for women. He enjoys women. He makes love to women. He wines and dines women. He gives women what they deserve. What they want. But he doesn't fall for them. Ever."
Investigating and finding out facts is Donny's job, but doing it secretly is going to be the hard part. Both he and Dale, his older brother, have decided to keep what they've learned a secret, and are determined to unravel the secrets of the past. But are they going to be jeopardising the lives of their loved ones? As well as all of this happening, Dale's final secret is revealed, what will be the consequences of that?
Once again Ms. Hardt had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I cannot wait for the next book, Flame, to come out. I know some questions will be answered, but there will more than likely be many more raised. An edge of the seat, romantic, suspenseful read. Highly recommended.
