Melody bases her kills off of the chess moves in her head. The game is set. Who will win or die?
This chess board is different than a normal one. Instead of a king and queen, we have a Killer and Survivor. Where knights and bishops should be, there are Strippers and Gangsters. Yet, in this game of SEX and DECEPTION, blood stains and life, an intense love grows in the most unusual places, leaving all of the players to consider dropping their guns and rethink why they started the battle in the first place.
Bad for You is a Multicultural steamy psychological thriller involving a complicated love triangle. This is not a romance, but it will arouse, intrigue, and blow your mind.
Kenya Wright wrote her first novel during her third year at UM Law school. She dropped out a month after the release and never looked back.
Words are power, and Kenya wants to be the greatest wizard that ever lived.
It's an audacity to inspire and teach the healing of love through arousal.
It's this crazy idea that love can not only help a reader escape, but the story can also teach the person about being human, while making them laugh, cry, and hot for more sex.

I had the pleasure of editing the freakin' awesome novella. I always look forward to getting something new to edit from Kenya for several reasons... 1. It's always freakin' hot 2. I never know what to expect. She didn't disappoint with this one. She isn't kidding when she says it's Quentin Tarantino. This plot-line is dark, so dark! With characters that are incredibly flawed and unlikeable at times, which in turn makes me love them because they are so real. Both Melody and Kane are bad with a twist I never saw coming! I can't wait to see what Kenya does with the next book!
I haven't read anything yet by Kenya that I didn't like. I have a different cover and when I got it I was all set for a interracial romance (Sexual Deception, Book 1). That is the one flaw I found because the man on my cover looks white and Kane was not described as being any part white but "dripping dark chocolate" but okay, I moved on.
Kane owns and art gallery and in walks Melody looking for a job. He is struck stupid by her beauty and even more so that she keeps turning him down. We soon learn that there is plenty of mystery surrounding Melody and Kane as they begin this complex game of who is better at what they do. Only Kane, for all his forethought, has overlooked one major piece of this puzzle, a move that could cost him his life.
This is not a long read but it is page turner. I tried to figure out how this would end but I was thinking right along with Kane, I missed it too.
Like I wrote in one of my updates, this book is unlike anything I've ever read before. And I've read a lot of different books. This was great. Suspenseful, dangerous, shocking, filled with tension, sexy and more. You wonder why some people do what they do, behave the way they do and live the life they live. Sometimes you don't get the answers but you do see the what of it all. Bad For You keeps you guessing till the very end. Unless you're keeping track, you won't realize the end is near and then you're like woah and wtf. Lol Yes, it's true! I have to admit, I did guess right on one thing but it didn't take away from the story because it's so incredibly good.
This was a dark and twisted tale of the depths into which the human mind can sink! Like Kane, I tend to try to understand the reasons behind the destructive actions and behaviors of some people. Like him, you begin to see that people were either born with a genetic flaw or something triggered that dark side that a lot of humans have in their DNA. Part of me understands the why of Kane and Melody and also how men like Kane and Miguel can become obsessed and controlled when they allow sex to be their emotional outlet that they equate to love. Then you think about the innocent people that are harmed by these twisted people and know that their actions necessitates the end that was chosen by this author. There has to be a reckoning and a cleansing from this evil! You mourn and weep for the innocent, then commit to a higher power the soul of those whose minds do not allow them to comprehend or curb the evil of their actions. For some of them you do reserve a measure of pity and sympathy and you hope they can find forgiveness or redemption in another life!
To be honest, this is almost the reality we are living with now. All these mass murders by mentally ill people that should have been helped, but never really received what was necessary!
Yes she did it again!! This has got to be one of the best concepts for a story. The writer brings you into a complex game of cat and mouse only to be involved in one the most intense chess matches. The characters all play a part and it is done so well that you are drawn to thinking what is the next move and what move would you make.If you are looking for not only a good mystery, A little bit of mayhem and some sexy crazy hit men and women then you've come to the right place! Let this be your next book club read or your own.Join the game a become a crafty game player or a very smart thinker.
Twisted, dark, sinful, sexy, keep you on your toes every written word.. I had to read in one setting, there was no way I could put it down. Kane, Melody, Miguel .. this is one triangle you won’t see coming. I feel dirty with how much I enjoyed the 3 and their Chess game. Murder, Mental Illness, Mayhem and some hot sex, all rolled up in one black, white & bloody bow. 🔫😵🤤🔪
This was good. I wanted more at the end but I will find part 2. It all caught be off guard. The baby momma, the baby, the heads. Oh my! I have definitely found a new type of male lead I like. Hired killers! -#cillasbookmaniacs
This book is so so so good but incredibly sad. I love every book she has written and have read them multiple times but probably won't read this one again the ending is too sad
I enjoy Kenya’s writing. It was a very entertaining read. It’s better than watching television. She draws me in— I can visualize these people, their actions and looks. I am a writer and I read her and others to help develop my story telling.
The book opens with a unique plot. Like a can of worms, the lines and movements slide in every direction. The inner dialogue of Kane & Melody is intriguing, each trying yo read the motives and intentions of each other. Unknown players and hidden secrets keeps the reader busy speculating as to what is going on. It's a cat and mouse game that is somehow related to the moves of a chess game. No doubt it, it has captured the attention and all one can do is hang on and keep reading. Many unanswered questions and what does paid assassins have to do with things? I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★✯✯ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This is the first of a 3 part series. Told in multiple POV, it is the story of Melody and Kane (and a little bit Miguel), two hired killers for an organization based in Miami. I did find it difficult at times to tell whose perspective was "speaking". The author did not always clearly differentiate who it was, especially mid-chapter. The story line is definitely unique but a little confusing. It's hard to tell who the characters really are as the reader is only given little glimpses into their personalities. Since this is the first book of the series, I'm hoping this is just a base for what is to come. There are quite a few references to chess throughout the entire book. I'm not a chess fan so this was a little distracting to me.
Definitely not a stand alone as this has a HUGE cliffhanger. But Book 2 is already out so you can continue on from there.
I actually liked the storyline even with the quick read. There are a lot of moving parts in this story. Kane to be a smart killer is dumb as hell. Then you have Melody who is playing ahead but still getting played. I got a lot of clues from Melody about the what was going down. I was caught up in the book I cant wait to read more.
This is the first book in the series and I'm so confused. A band of hired killers who are trained to kill each other at the right time and they all work for Miguel. I it takes some getting used to but maybe it will become clearer in the second book.
It's dark, raw, twisted, sexy and suspenseful. What's not to love?? The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the length of the book and because I hate cliffhangers with a passion. Now, I'm off to read book 2
This book had potential but then ends with the reader having so many questions. Some storylines do not need part 1, 2,3 and so forth. Just chapters of good reading material.
This story was an unexpected and unbelievable mind game. The characters were scary and Melody certainly had a few loose screws. I would not have been able to predict this ending in a million years. A bizarre but good read.
This story was off the chain. Three people, Melody, Miguel, and Kane played a game of chess with live people. All were a little crazy, but all were in a world where death was the only escape.
This is very dark and full of suspense from start to finish. Keeps you on your toes and guessing who will win. Wasn't expecting this one. Probably one of her best books that I have read just for storytelling alone.
If I could give this book 10 stars I would! Literally on the edge of my seat the entire book. The suspense, the chase, the thrill, the sex all 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Kenya is just a boss in her craft!
A good read.Firtst time reading this author and I enjoyed this book.Ending left me needing to get second part ..... Will most definitely be reading more of her work.
