A teenage boy is murdered and it's up to Jamie and Jack to solve the case. Well, okay - Jamie, Jack, and the ghost of Michael Donovan.
Jack left her last job under peculiar circumstances and now she's doing her best to hold on to her new job without it all blowing up in her face. What are the odds that the only person that could possibly understand her situation would end up being her new partner? How do the two of them explain where some of their information comes from, when the person giving it to them is the murder victim?
They'd better be right when they finally find the answers because it's fatal to be dead wrong.
I enjoyed this part in the series as much as the first. I really loved the backstory for Noah, it was fascinating yet sad. And I really enjoyed the way they included the LGBT and trans themes without it feeling either forced to the foreground for show or shoved to the side. It was a good balance and worded in a way that felt meaningful.
As with the first book the conversations still felt natural and I enjoyed the way Jamie and his new partner got along. I did miss Joey but he is at least still around a little, and I know he’s around more in the next book.
Also really liked the relationship between Jack and her son. It was so wholesome
I really love this genre and the premise is really good, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. There's a lot of "fill" story that I think is supposed to be descriptive about location or surroundings but it's too much. Like rather than saying "The room still smelled of fresh paint" the author expands on the whole painting process. What colors they chose & what they ate for lunch. I even read the 2nd book to see if there was improvement in writing skills. Sadly I won't be reading on.
A cozy mystery of crime, the forster care system and mob families. A transgender teenager is murdered and its up to Jamie and Jack to find the answers. First they must learn if its a hate crime, a crime of jealousy or a mistake. As well as learning how two crime families are involved. You can figure out the killer, the person who is pure evil and has no soul. Its the reasons behind the killing, that will have you shaking your head.
I'm enjoying this series so much! Logical, methodical police work mixed with a touch of paranormal ghostliness. Add lots of sweet family relationships that warm my heart. Swirl in bad guy violence and interesting twists, and these keep me reading late into the night. Off to buy #3.
A second intriguing investigation - a murder that has wider consequences than at first appear. The level of corruption in Harbor seems on a par with the bloated murder rate in Morse's Oxford...
A new partner (who also interacts with a ghost) and a new case, brought to Kennedy's attention by his former partner...
So many new dimensions are added in this book, because his new partner has her own ghost. Fun, fun, fun! This book also focuses on a new murder with multiple possible motives….some of the usual and some which stretch the reader’s thinking. Good book!
I absolutely loved this book!!! This is the first book in quite I while that I was unable to put down. It is now 3:30 in the morning. It is a good thing I am retired. Ha! Ha!
I've never read this type of book before but just sounded like it would great.....and it didn't disappoint! Give it a shot. You're going to really like it!
