Don’t let my future husband’s good looks fool you… He’s the villain in our love story.
Luca Salvatore is cold and cruel, a bully who haunts my dirty dreams and my nightmares.
Our marriage was arranged before we’d ever met. A fate I had accepted until my brother vanished without a trace.
Luca knows what happened to my brother.
He’s the leader of a secret society called The Devil’s Knights. A billionaire boys’ club for the most entitled monsters on the planet. They’re connected to my brother’s disappearance… and I want revenge.
So when my handsome Devil summons me back to the town I hate as much as him, it’s impossible to resist his call.
I will do anything to get my brother back. Even if it means playing by Luca’s rules.
And after I tempt him into spilling his secrets, I’m taking my Devil back to Hell where he belongs.
The Devil I Hate is book one in a series and has dark themes that are not suitable for everyone. If you can imagine falling in love with a villain, you will love The Devil’s Knights.

I'm getting tired of being ambushed in reading those sharing/menage books without any kind of warning from the authors. I know it's the new trend but everyone don't like reading those kind of books it would be nice to start respecting your readers and warn them before hand
The Devil I hate by Jillian Quinn A legacy of secrets, a society called the Devil’s Knights and their leader, Luca Salvatore, a man with scars and a demented mind. But one thing was for sure, he was hell bent on getting his queen, Alex. The end goal; marry her and produce a son to carry on with the legacy, but was there more to this than Alex knows. Alex had lived a life where she has been taunted just for being born. A twin and a gifted artist just like Luca’s own mother. Luca had a connection with Alex but something happened and this sent her mind spiraling out of control, or did Luca do something to her? Manipulating her? The chemistry between these two was off the charts, add in a sexy brother ,and it just brings out more questions. But not all was as it seemed, we are left on a cliffhanger and I cannot wait to read more of this story. I don’t think Luca was all as bad as he seemed or was portrayed, I think he might be a dark horse but only where Alex was concerned, he was her knight in shining armor, if only she would remember. The story was told in dual Pov and goes between present and past. You need to keep your wits about you as there are secrets and hints along the way. I enjoyed the story, the mystery, and the suspense and I am looking forward to reading more.
Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another Note: This is a series. Please read in order as the first book ends in a cliffhanger. First book is The Devil I hate. Next book is The Devil I Crave.
Trigger warnings: Bullying, past trauma, dark themes.
Holy wow - and I thought I couldn't love villain romances more.
I just loved Luca...he was my ultimate book boyfriend. The way he talked and totally owned the show and his chemistry with Alex...mm, I fell for it, hook line sinker.
I just don't have enough words to say how much I enjoyed this fast paced, steamy, emotionally heartbreaking, and devilish book a whole lot.
Alex was my girl too, to be honest. Smart, sexy and confident, I think she was on equal levels with Luca all the time, letting him know that she wasn't backing down either from their arrangement.
Overall people, I don't think you could love a couple more than Luca and Alex. They're your ultimate favorites.
Ok this book gave me whiplash!! I had no idea what was going on for To A good 90% of it! But that is a good thing. I had no idea what to expect. Secret societies, dangerous men and a woman token between them. This book is unlike any other I have ever read before. It's an enemies to lovers romance,an arranged marriage with a twist! I will be honest and say I did not like Luca and I am NOT rooting for him and Alex. Nope. My heart feelings to Marcello and I cannot wait to see more of him in the next books. Team Marcello here. Yup. Luca didn't make me feel much and his behavior is not what I want from my book boyfriends. He is the villain in our story. The book ends in a cliffhanger and I need the next book now!!! Loved the writing, the twists and turns and the mystery!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 Stars!
Plot Summary : Luca and Alex have a history. A history that she does not remember. Luca wants only one thing right now and that is to gain his throne. For that he needs a wife who will give him a child. Alex was the perfect candidate for the job. Or so she thought. There was something much more at play here this time she wont stop until she discovers everything Alex and his sexy brother is keeping from her.
Overall Opinion : I have never been a fan of love triangles because you don’t know what is going to happen in those books. You don’t know who the endgame is and that annoys the hell out of me , but surprisingly I loved this book. I have theories about how this series might end and I am going to be really heartbroken if they are wrong!
Alex and Luca have this crazy chemistry that cuked me in right from the first page. I read this one in one sitting and didn’t stop until I reached the very end. The cliffhanger was huge and I can’t wait for the next book! I would definitely recommend this book to all the Dark second chance romance lovers out there!
- The writing style. I don't know how to explain it but it's just not cringy and overly poetic or childish at all. Except for the constant "My Queen, Our Queen, His Queen, The Queen" which I can do without.
- The plot. I really love it!! After reading so many mafia romance where the heroine is always poor and naive and under the total control of the hero, this book is such a breath of fresh air. I love that the heroine is as rich as the hero. And even more, her family is actually in a higher social position than the hero's family.
- The heroine. Thank fuck she's not the usual naive, kind, trusting cookie cutter heroine in every mafia romance ever. I love that she's a bit psychopathic and a lil crazy and give the hero shit and a hard time lmao. I love heroine that fight back with her actions and not just with words . And I'm not really sure but I think she has multiple personality disorder? It's not really explained in the book.
- The hero. Imma be honest I'm not really sure who the hero is or even if there's a hero at all, or two. It's confusing. But I'm talking about Luca in this one. I like that he's also crazy and a psychopath. I like his obsession with Alex and the things he does for her. I've been reading so many books where the hero is supposedly this big bad menacing mafia man, but meh, it's all talk and no show. That's why I love Luca. He lives up to his description. And I love that his weakness is Alex and it really shows.
What I don't like:
- I have no idea what the fuck is going on. I literally finished the entire book and still don't know what the story is all about. All I get is everyone is protecting Alex and called her their queen and she has to marry Luca but fuck knows why. Like??? Please, at least give me some crumbs of information on what is happening.
- The worldbuilding. I don't know, I just don't get the feel of their world. It's too unrealistic for me. It might have been more believable without all these secret societies, The Serpents, The Devil's Knights, etc. Who are they and what they do? We don't know. And then Luca will ascend the "throne" and desperately need a queen. Why? We don't know. It just doesn't fit for me. Add to that the lack of information on what is going on, I'm really going blind in this book.
- The "ambush" of love triangle, if you can call it that. There's no warning on the blurb or the tag about 2 possible hero. It only warns you that this is not for everyone. Yeah, but mafia romance is not for everyone so.... *shrug* I was totally caught off guard the first time the heroine is lusting after the other brother. I even went back to the blurb to check that I get the hero's name right. It clearly says Luca, but why is she lusting after Marcello? *facepalm* I must admit, I tend to avoid this kind of story so my opinion is totally biased but I don't like the love triangle aspect in this book. It's uncomfortable for me. A warning would be nice.
That said, I don't think I will be reading the next book, because the lack of information from this book is really off-putting for me and it will only feel like I'm wasting my time, reading a book that I don't understand what's happening at all.
Not sure where this book is headed. Can't remember seeing RH on the synopsis, but that seems possible where I am at 40%. I can't carry on with this; the heroine is off the scale mixed up, as is the probable hero that she doesn't love, they have a ten year history but she's lusting after his brother. This is not a romance imo, just mixed up crazy people who don't know what they want.

Wow! Just wow! I am obsessed with this book. This is so much more than a bully to lovers style dark romance. There is real raw emotion in the book and Jillian does a great job making us feel what the character's are feeling. I got to the last page and actually gasped because there is so much I need to know. I feel truly invested in the character's lives. Prepare for twists, turns, junk and darkness. This is not a light hearted feel good romance. This is raw, dirty, unbridled passion that takes place in the underbelly of a wealthy secret society. I wish I could give even more stars. I will be impatiently awaiting the next book.
The Devil I Hate by Jillian Quinn is the first book in the Devil Knights series. It's the book where you not sure what's happening or where it's going but you have to keep reading it, also it's a little addictive. It's one woman, two brothers and a secret society who needs the woman to be their queen. It's definitely a dark and twisted read 📖
3.5 stars New to me author! I jumped at it because of the genre and the blurb-face it, I can never have enough mafia-forced marriage-suspense books in my life. This book had a lot of potential-it started off SUPER fast, lots of laying of the groundwork in the very first chapter even-and I found myself checking to see if I missed a book or something before hand because it was all kind of worded as a refresher to me instead of just kind of flowing with the story line? I’m not sure if that makes sense, but it seems like this is a little bit of the authors writing style. The dialogue was a bit cliche for me, but the storyline was extremely strong-it had me hooked, even though it took some getting used to. I will definitely be one clicking the next book in this series-this author has a lot of potential with this storyline and Alex and Luca were absolutely lovable characters.
Another phenomenal read that I couldn’t put down. Jillian has slayed it. The story is amazing and the characters, you will never forget. I don’t know if I am Team Luca or Team Marcello. This is definitely an interesting read with twists that will have you glued to your kindle. I can’t wait too read what will happen next especially how this book ended.
I don’t know where to start. If you ask me what words would describe this book, I would say: totally unexpected. The Devil I Hate is the story of Alexandrea who is betrothed to the older brother of the Salvatore family. As soon as Alex meets Luca, she knows that her life will change completely. Luca is devastatingly handsome, highly clever but he is so mean and hurtful. Alex is an artist, and as such she is very sensitive, naive and has a pure heart. At first we see that she is shy, innocent and somewhat fearful. Luca is the one who makes all the decisions regarding her engagement, making it clear to her that she belongs to him, imposing rules on her and setting limits regarding what she can and cannot do. As the years go by and some events unfold, Alex becomes corrupted, showing facets that she did not know she had and questioning her mental stability. Luca hides secrets, maybe to protect her... may be not.
The Devil I Hate is an exciting and addictive book in which secrets play an essential role. Luca and Alex share intense sexual chemistry and a difficult childhood. They have not been able to fully explore their relationship as a true couple. Luca Salvatore is a dark character, he is an antihero but he has reasons to be. He is a very clever man and the few chapters of him give us an idea of why he treats his fiancée that way. What is true is that they are both people broken due to their past and their family ties. Both of them deals with their traumas in a different way. I must make a special mention of Marcello Salvatore, that man has me captivated and I need to know what will happen in the next book because it ended up in Cliffhanger 🤧. The Devil I Hate addresses the following topics: secret societies, mental health, bully romance, and a bit of love triangle.
The Devil I Hate is the first book in the dark romantic suspense series The Devil's Knights. Told in alternating POVs of Luca and Alex, this is a dark and twisted tale of revenge, secrets and passion. Both Alex and Luca are complicated and broken characters that share a tumultuous history and and even more uncertain future. Desperate to find her missing brother, Alex is summoned back to the town that ruined her and the man who broke her heart. I loved the mystery and suspense that permeated the story. Alex's relationship with Marcello was very well done and certainly had me guessing as to which brother she might choose in the end. Lucas is a very enigmatic character and just the kind of mysterious bad boy that has the potential to be my ultimate book boyfriend. I had a bit of a hard time connecting with Alex. She is obviously suffering from mental illness and her actions are colored by both her condition and the medication that she has to take to control it. As a result, I was left quite unsure whether Alex's brazen and erratic behavior was actually her own or a result of her illness. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I really enjoyed the secret society angle and Alex's potential role in it. There were a lot of time jumps that allowed us glimpses into Alex and Luca's relationship. While they did have a connection, I really felt more of a connection between her and Marcello at this point. However, that may change as the story goes on. I definitely enjoyed this twisted tale and can't wait to see where the story goes in book two.
Devil I Hate, book one Jillian Quinn's The Devil's Knights series, from the first page onward had no restraints and lots of questions that will keep readers on the edge of their seats!
This was a dark fast past story mired in intrigue and mirages that kept readers guessing right along with the characters. Every chapter offered a new clue that altered perspectives even while holding readers captivated by events. Chemistry was literally combusting off the pages as the laws of attraction were bent and twisted. Luca was dominating, cunning and mysterious in his interactions, holding Alexandrea in his grasp both willingly and unwillingly. Enter Luca's brother Marcello and the heat and competition put this story next level in intensity.
Broken portrayals trying to make the best of a fate they had no say in and a shared darkness made an interesting story. Ms. Quinn used flashbacks well in moving this work forward. A dark agenda and intense portrayals made Devil I Hate a quick and absorbing read to escape into.
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.* *This work is part of a series and ends on a cliffhanger.*
Okay, here's the thing. I hate mysteries in my books. HAHAHAHA and this one is full of them.
Maybe I said that wrong. I hate long-drawn-out mysteries. I do love throwing out my theories all over the place but I hate it. That being said this book is full of them. And still, I loved it.
I've got several theories floating around in my head.
But also Alex is a damn trip and I love that girl. She's a giant mess thanks to basically everyone around her. I cannot wait to watch her puzzle everything back together. Ima be honest I was kinda confused about what was actually going on. So much so that I dared not put it down because sometimes I'm a space cadet and id end up picking it back up and getting lost.
Luca is so alpha and then he does some surprising things that had me scratching my head. Like who was he at that moment because that wasn't the Luca I know and love.
This story is told with a jumpy timeline. between the present and the last 10 years, I think. There's a lot in here I shouldn't love because of my own personal preferences and still I loved it. sometimes I'm weird.
What a tremendously complex story, this turned out to be. Alex and Luca are both very attracted to each other and they have very harsh feelings for each other, you could call it hate. The relationship between both their family’s were very complicated aIso to make things worse, and Alex is developing feelings for some one else. This suspenseful thriller quickly captured my interest, with it’s fantastic characters, wonderful storyline, intense drama and emotions that have unexpected twists and turns. This was a terrific tale, and it’s certainly one I’m going to continue to the next book. I loved it!
I immediately dove right into this book as soon as it hit my e-reader and I didn't come up for air till I finished, and it's quite the beginning for this series. There are definitely PLENTY of secrets right from the start and while a scant few are addressed, there's still a lot of questions that haven't been answered. I will say that when I started reading this, it kind of felt like I was missing part of the story, almost as if there was a book prior to this one that gives more background information; but there's always the chance it'll be explained at some point why the series starts off like it does. Either way, I'm already looking forward to the next book.
Alexandrea Wellington has been promised in marriage to Luca Salvatore for a long time. They have a love hate type of relationship that at times has bordered on being psychotic. There are lots of secrets in their 'world' and Alexandrea isn't privy to most of them and those she does know, she can't remember due to having issues. This was a dark and twisty read that was steeped in chemistry and feelings of anger and sorrow. Will the secrets come out? Can Alexandrea remember what she needs to heal? Will she accept that Luca is the man she wants and not the man that's been forced upon her? I can't wait to read the next book
"Our love was toxic and painful, so cruel and tainted it hurt when I looked into his eyes. I never had a choice in who I married. Not when his father had decided for both of us."
A depraved and dark free-fall into American Royalty, skimming the underbelly, the ups and downs like a run away rollercoaster, two people as matched as they are toxic. Secrets and betrayal, too many temptations to count, the end game slowly revealed like breadcrumbs. I couldn't put it down!
"Luca consumed my dreams and my nightmares, making me want to sin with him. My Devil was cruel, loving, passionate, and hateful. Luca Salvatore has many faces."
Alexandrea is slowly regaining her memories but she isn't sure what is real and what is dreams. Her feelings for Luca and Marcello confuse her and she struggles to understand who she wants to be with. This book is dark and has more twists than a labyrinth. The heat between all the characters is blinding and you see facets of their relationships reflected in the others! This book ended with so many questions still unanswered!
3.5 stars for me. I was definitely intrigued and in suspense most of the time just the only part that would take me out of the story was a little too much detail when entering a room describing every inch of the surroundings. As for the story, I liked, and will definitely read book 2 and most likely the rest of the series from this new-to-me author.
This is so gritty and complicated. And that cliffhanger just left me reeling. I was constantly on edge but still, I couldn't put it down. I seriously can't wait for the continuation to Luca & Alex’s story.
Billionaires and Secret Societies that bring all the angst and steam... what else could you possibly need in a dark romance?! I'll wait... the answer is, not much, and this book brings it all!!
My first thought about this book was „OMG, what a perfect, mystery cover!”. And this cover makes me curious to read „The Devil I Hate” written by Jillian Quinn. AND THIS WAS bull's eye!
Luca Salvatore is cold, cruel and brutal for real! I've read a lot of books, when in blurb we have „a cold and uncompromised hero” and in the end he is only a warm noodle. Here in „The Devil I Hate” Luca is like in the blurb! I loooove this guy! He is well written! Jillian Quinn makes him totally perfect!
Alex is totally opposite of Luca. She is careful, pretty, good and lovely. I really like this heroine, becasue she is normal. Years ago, before she was born, her granpa made a deal with Salvatore family. Which said that, when she will grew up, she must marry Luca Salvatore and then two big billionares families will be conected together in peace. Of cours Alex is counter about this decision, but in the end Luca isn't that bad, as everyone sees him.
„The Devil I Hate” is a perfect story! I am really bored with all mafias book, but secret societies and really bad hero made me obsessed about this book. Also, I can't wait to the next book in this series! If you want a really good story with secrets and mystery „The Devil I Hate” is a perfect choice! Steamy, hot and fantastic book! Highly recommend!
It took me a minute to get into reading The Devil I Hate. For one I was a little confused about what was going on at the very beginning between Luca and Alex. Then the story seems to jump ahead to the present without any warning. Then we get the back and forth between present and past with duel telling of Luca and Alex throughout the rest of the story.
I gave this story 5 stars for its originality. Although it had a rough start, I fell in love with the uniqueness of Alex and Luca's "love" story. I will warn you this first book is not romantic, cute, or nice. It is demented, twisted, and has more questions than answers. Luca is a dark man that should never touch something as sunny as Alex.
Alex never had a chance getting away from Luca no matter how she tried, a pact that was arranged before she was born would make her Lucas wife to ensure the families legacy if she likes it or not. Luca has been pulling the strings in Alex’s life before she even knew and now he’s ready to real her in for more reasons then the arrangement.
