Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf

Dani René brings us Lycan and Scarlett in a re-telling loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood. The story is cloaked in mystery and angst. The couple reminds me of the old Dark Romance books. The Arranged Marriage aspect brought me way back when LOL. I'm usually hyped up for the girls in books, but Scarlett didn't really connect me with as much as Lycan and all his shenanigans did. All in all, this was an entertaining story of darkness, and our main characters were dripping in steam. That cliffy was baaaaad. WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Bitter Vows was a phenomenally spectacular book loosely based on Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf.
Scarlett is a young, somewhat naive woman, who has grown up in a wealthy family full of secrets. But she is excited to venture out to find her place in the world. Along comes Lycan, a predator in a custom made suit, and he has set his sights on the beautiful red headed young woman who belongs to the Bardot family.
This story takes the reader on an adventure into the world of lust, sensual desire, and deceit that keeps the the reader riveted and totally enthralled.
Oh my goodness Dani Rene, you can't leave me hanging and gasping like that!

A dark retelling of Ride Riding Hood but with a little bit more of something in here...
First of all, there was my own kink in book, the one of arranged marriages and then the small similarities with the old known fairytale were pumping my blood wildly... A family curse, lots of antsy and misty moments, revenge and darkness... Add to that mysterious and wolfish Lycan and bang... You have a lovely and intriguing result!!!

"Perhaps. But little girls should always be wary of predators hunting for sweet, supple flesh. Especially when they go visit grandma."

Scarlett wants to live her own life without interruptions.

Scarlett wants to fight this union, but Lycan is determined to prove her wrong...
Everything are starting with distaste, but then something is sparkling between them.

Well, in here except Scarlett and Lycan's personal story, there were happening many things that intrigued me and honestly, I can not wait for more... Cause after this ending, things are about to become really interesting!!!
Everything is falling apart when Lycan and Scarlett managed to find their way to each other and I'm afraid of what will happen in the next chapter...
Secrets are bound to be exposed and I can't wait to find the answers to every single question that i have.

"There is darkness once a Bardot and a Shaw come together."

This was a lovely beginning and it had a mysterious aura that was pulling you in.
Lycan was imperfectly perfect and his character intigued me so much.
Scarlet was sweet and a little naive and she frustrated me very much. There was a big age gap between her and Lycan and it showed!!! She wasn't stable in her thoughts and reactions and i didn't connect very much with her.
Otherwise, there was fire between these two, but in my opinion, things were progressing in a very fast pace and it was making me dizzy.
Of course, after that cliffy, i need so badly to find out more about this story.

Bitter Vows is the newest masterpiece by Dani Rene. This story brings two families together that have a long and I assume assorted history. Scarlett and Lycan are about to bring whatever history the families have to the forefront. Too bad for Scarlett she has no idea what is being done to her or why, she is just a tool for Lycan to use.

Lycan is a bad man and knows exactly what he is. Lycan embraces everything that he is and takes Scarlett because her father signed the contract. He will marry her and make her his wife, Scarlett has little to say about it.

As usual, there is a dark and horrible presence coming after Scarlett and Lycan will do everything he can to protect her. But maybe the worse presence in Scarlett's life is Lycan.

What will happen in the next book is anyone's guess. But I can't wait to find out.

I’ve been reading Dani’s work, on and off, for the last 4 or 5 years, and what sticks out the most to me about her as a writer is how versatile she is. She doesn’t just write one trope or genre, she is everywhere on the wheel and I love that about her! And no matter what she picks to write, it is always a *boom* kind of read, or maybe a better term/phrase would be all in. This story is definitely a *boom* story and then some! The minute I read the synopsis and the Little Red Riding Hood vibe it had, I was all in! She didn’t disappoint! The story had enough twists to it to keep me turning pages but what was really well done was the connection between Scarlett and Lycan. Their slow-burn dance was delectable and sexy and just so damn captivating that I felt their vibe while I read. Their connection is a thing of beauty and I couldn’t get enough. That’s the way it goes with a story written by Dani. Gaaaaaaaaaaawd, Lycan is a #lustfest! Such a well-developed storyline! Not gonna lie, the cliffhanger is blinkity-blink-worthy and so Dani that I’m laughing now but it wasn’t funny when I read it. You’ve been warned :)

Bitter Vows by author Dani Rene is the first book in the Crimson Falls Duet, written in dual POV and tells the story of Lycan and Scarlett.

Bitter Vows by Dani René is dark and twisted, a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood. A dark arranged marriage romance with a dominant anti-hero.

Scarlett is 20, she is young and she has dreams. All of her life she was under her parent's control, and now she wants freedom. She wants to be free from them, an independent woman with her own business.

"Her life CEO"

What she doesn't know, is that her life will be turned upside down in the blink of an eye. Her father made sure of that. She will escape one cage to be in another cage.

Lycan is the big bad wolf. He is looking for revenge, and now he has the right opportunity. He is a monster, and he will do everything in his power to get it his way. Although he says he doesn't have a heart, Little Red changes that.

Bitter Vow is a story about the Little Red Riding Hood saved by the Wolf, not by the Hunter.

I loved the plot and the action, and OMG the secrets... I am blown away. I am sure not all the secrets were revealed so far, and I am waiting for 3rd of them, I am so anxious for them. I also have my theories, which I am dying to see if I am right or not.

So if you are looking for a dark romance with an arranged marriage, Bitter Vows by Dani Rene will be perfect for you.

The blurb got me so excited and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this book! I haven't read many retellings, but after this one.. I need more! This story is an intense and wild ride. It's not lacking and picks up speed right away. One that caught my attention from the very first page.

Scarlett is strong and determined. She is ready to spread her wings and get out from under the umbrella of her parents. That may not happen though. Her father has made a very important man angry when he learns of his secret and she will be a pawn in a game she has no idea that she's playing. A contract is signed and she is to marry a man she doesn't know, doesn't love and doesn't trust.

Lycan is a hot 𝒂𝒍𝒑𝒉𝒂 through and through. He makes you purr.. whimper... moan... give in. His desires are dark and dirty. He wants for nothing. He is enthralled with Scarlett the moment he meets her and knows that she will fit into his world just fine... once she gives in to his delicious kind of darkness. That she does!!

Little by little the walls around their hearts start to let feelings in and their guard is down. They have some super steamy encounters and their chemistry was blazing 𝐇𝐎𝐓! OMG! I wanted more, more, more. Couldn't get enough! Loved it so much!!

So many secrets and lies fight against them. Mystery upon mystery. Trust will be tested.
What will be left of them when all their family secrets are brought to light? That's the thing about secrets, they can't stay hidden in the dark forever.
That cliffhanger - got me and I can't wait to find out what happens in book 2!!!

I don’t know what’s going on but I keep stumbling upon books that are retelling and they are phenomenal!

Bitter Vows is the Little Red Riding Hood adult version we all need in our lives. Can I start with how the MCs' names are everything. Scarlet and Lycan..love this touch.

What happens when Scarlett goes to stay with her Grandmother and wanders into the woods, the very woods she’s been warned about? She runs into Lycan. And now neither of them will ever be the same.

Lycan is out for revenge and buys the hand of his future wife, Scarlett. But he unexpectedly falls. “I vow, bitter or not, to keep you, hold you, cherish you, and ensure you’re forever smiling.” This man y’all!!!

Dani threw in a bit off all the juiciness we need - BDSM, age-gap, arranged marriage.

Beware of the big bad cliffy (not bad but I couldn't resist).

Can’t wait to read Book 2 in the Crimson Falls Duet.

Bitter Vows is Dani René first book in the Crimson Falls Duet and it was absolutely delicious, sexy, and suspenseful. I'm going to pretend the last chapter doesn't exist because I'm still reeling over that cliffhanger. The book is inspired by the Little Red Riding Hood. With the names Scarlett and Lycan, how can you think otherwise? My favorite aspect about this book was the slow burn but incredibly sexy romance between Scarlett and Lycan. Their relationship is a push and pull where Lycan is extremely dominant, possessive, and in lust with Scarlett. Although Scarlett hates her situation, she can't help but be attracted to Lycan's darkness. However, there are many dark secrets and betrayals between their two families. One might even say there is a curse...

The story starts off with Scarlett Bardot meeting a handsome stranger at one of the parties that her family goes to. It turns out that the stranger is none other than Lycan Shaw but she doesn't realize it until much later on when they are finally introduced. However, there is a twist. Scarlett's father has done something terrible and Lycan now has the upper-hand and key to enacting his revenge against the Bardot family. As a result, Scarlett's hand in marriage has been bought by Lycan. What she doesn't know is that Lycan never intended on marrying anyone until her.

"I want you to know who I am. Even though I'm the monster in this story, the wolf seeking out his prey, I wouldn't hurt you. Not unless you want it."

This is not my first rodeo with Dani René. The way she writes her heroes is sinful. Lycan is no exception and I love that for Scarlett. In the beginning, she is frustrated by Lycan's secrets but soon realizes that there is more than meets the eye between their two families. Her grandmother and father are both hiding a terrible secret. I also want to note that the love scenes between Lycan and Scarlett are scorching hot. In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I absolutely can't wait to read Bitter Truths, when it finally releases! If you love your anti-heroes dark, possessive, and sexy, Lycan Shaw will captivate you. Yes, he is dominant and claims that he has no feelings but Scarlett ends up capturing his heart. Overall, I highly recommend this book!

I can’t bring myself to finish this one. Every other word out of Scarlett’s mouth is her saying she’s not a little girl I’m a woman I’m not a girl!! OKAY? That doesn’t make me think you’re mature - in fact, it makes me believe you are even more childish than your age (20) would suggest. And who knows, maybe that’s the point? But I just can’t do it anymore.

This is my second book by Dani and again, she didn’t disappoint. The book was amazing and very interesting.

Lycan takes Scarlett and she will be his wife. The reason is Scarlett’s father who betrayed him and Lycan knows his secret, in order for Scarlett and her family not to find out, he makes a deal with Scarlett’s father.
Scarlett got Lycan’s attention on one gala and he knew he had to have her.
Though Scarlett has a strong character and wants to be independent, Lycan found a way to get to her and keep him by his side.

The storyline was great, I loved that there was so much action. And the cliffhanger made me so excited for the second book and continuation of the story.

This is the first book in the bitter vows duet so be warned there is a cliff but never fear Dani Rene' will not make you wait long at all for the next book. This is also a retelling Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. This is the story of Scarlett and Lycan. But the night she arrives she is told to stay out of the garden for the gardener is catching foxes and setting traps but she doesn't listen and runs to the wood which her mom always told her to stay out of and straight into the arms of Lycan who saves her and makes sure she stay and also decides the time has come to tell her what this is all about. This book was so good and I loved every second. I can not wait to have the next book in my hands to figure out what happens next.

Lycan is exactly what I expected him to be. A perfect antihero. He is ruthless and controlling and intimidating. He demands complete submission from Scarlett because it makes him proud and content. He hides secrets and he has so much to lose. His complicated family history and complex dynamics with his rogue brother add a level of suspense and drama that will keep you engaged and then that explosive ending will leave you crazy. Scarlett may have lead a protected life and appear innocent and sweet. But she constantly fights Lycan for her independence and her rights. Through this push and pull, they develop a true connection. So you can slowly see the vulnerable side of Lycan who is no longer the monster Scarlett made him to be. He is still the brooding, violent and intense man but Scarlett has opened his heart. And she has finally admitted that she craves the dirty filthy ways Lycan dominates her body and mind. The chemistry was pretty explosive and you will lose yourself in this thrilling game of body and mind. Too much is still going to happen and you are not ready.


If you love the raw, sensual and all consuming feels of an age gap arranged marriage romance, you need to read Bitter Vows by Dani René.

Scarlett is a sheltered a bit naive young lady.
But that doesn’t mean she doesn’t know what she wants nor what her goals, plans and ambitions are.
And she won’t let anyone stand in the way of achieving them.
Not her parents and certainly not the big bad Wolf.
Lycan is a powerful man you do not cross.
He’s fierce and he’s determined in his plans for his Little Red and those that crossed him.
Do not let the gorgeous looks and custom fit clothes fool you.
But what this alpha man doesn’t count on is his Little Red captivating him.
Lycan is enthralled by Scarlett.
For a man who thinks he’s unable to feel and that his heart is a cold organ he’s about to be stunned by all the feelings this sweet girl will bring on.

This was book 1 in the "Crimson Falls Duet" This book was all over the place for me. This was a retelling of little red riding hood. I was so excited to start on this book, the blurb really hooked me in and i do love a forced arranged marriage. The story doesn't hold back and you are thrown right into an intense plot, filled with secrets and lies.
Scarlett is a confident young woman, slightly naive but she has her life planned out and wants to be successful . She is suddenly thrown together with Lycan who is a possessive, controlling, manipulative and sexy dominant.....that's when things start to get interesting! Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and sex scenes were very steamy!

The plot was filled with so much suspense, it was intense at times to say the least! I really don't want to give too much away! If you are a fan of dark intense and steamy romance, with a plot filled with lies and secrets that will keep you guessing whats going on then you really need to read this book!

Lycan is a patient predator. Once he wants something he will never give up until he gets it. That prey for him is Scarlett. Scarlett's father has secrets and Lycan knows what they are. Lycan is an unforgiving, alpha dominant, a lethal combination. Scarlett surprises him like no other woman ever has. She is fiery and spirited and that only burns his desire for her more than ever. Scarlett is not as chaste as she first appears. She has deep and dark hungers that Lycan brings to the surface. The sexual chemistry between these two sets your body and mind on fire.

There is a feverish tempo that drums with the suspense and the many skeletons in the closet that are hidden away. I absorbed the darkness in their story like a sponge and I cannot wait to pick up the threads where this story left off.

He was expecting a sweet submissive and she is the opposite of that. But she is innocent and he is dark and dirty. Layers of mysteries and secrets slowly come to light. A story of revenge against Scarlet's family, the Bardot's. Her father had secrets that Lycan knew about and he was the predator and his prey was Scarlet. This book is very sensual an steamy. An age gap, enemy to lovers romance that is dark and delicious. It does end with a cliffhanger. I read an arc by the author via Grey's Promotions and voluntarily chose to review it.

Bitter Vows is an absolute page-turner! If you want a steamy dark romance with lots of suspense, some mystery, an alpha male dominant and a young woman seeking her independence and true love but unknownst to her, she has been signed over into an arranged marriage; you need to read Bitter Vows.

Scarlett and Lycan are now my two favourite book characters for 2021! The twists and turns in this story will have you turning the pages right to the end. There is a cliffhanger but this only makes getting book 2 even more exciting!

A book loosely based on Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf? Yes please.

Scarlett, a young beautiful woman who grew up in a wealthy family is thrown into Lycans world. He's a strong alpha male, dominating, possessive and controlling. Their sexual chemistry is intense and those sex scenes🥵🔥

Lies, secrets and so much suspense - you won't be able to put this book down! It does end on a cliffhanger and believe me. You'll love this book!

This book was mind blowing with the loose retell of the big bad wolf. Lucan is the kind of alpha I always swoon for and he has arranged his marriage to. Scarlett. I think the characters were well written and I loved trying to figure out how all the pieces of the puzzle of this book are going to lay out. This book kept my attention the entire time while I devoured it and I am beyond ready for boom two. .

Whoa! I loved Scarlett and Lycan and the back and forth between them. There are secrets galore that add to the tension of the story and the chemistry between then is explosive. This is not your typical fairy tale and I love what the author has done with our beloved Red and her Wolf. I can't wait for the next book!

I love these adult themed fairytales. This particular one is of little red riding hood aka Scarlett. And the bad wolf is sexy, Lycan. Arranged marriage, dark, sexy, delicious secrets, dominating and so yummy. Does end on a cliffhanger.
