Laura is home to help take care of her dad and as she is a cop joins the small-town police force. Damion is the Chief of the Police and also a best friend to Laura’s brother. What will happen when sparks begin to fly between them? Fast-paced read with lots of drama, steam and emotion. Great characters with lots of depth and an entertaining read. I liked it.
I felt bad that Laura, who was a great cop in Charleston, had to come back to her small town because of her sick father. I thought it was great that she put her family first to come home. Her brother’s best friend Brody is the local police chief. Since Laura didn’t have a lot to do helping her parents, she went to apply for a position at the police station. I didn’t know how that would go with her having a crush on Brody since she was 16. I did feel bad for Brody as he lost his wife a few years ago to cancer and was still feeling married to her. When he started having feelings for Laura he let guilt eat him up. The two were together a lot because a girl went missing in their small town. It gets exciting as the case gets more complicated. This was a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.
This is a small town romance between Laura and Brody. The author does a great job building the relationship as well as the sexual tension. She brings strong secondary characters and weaves a story filled with laughter and love, action and mystery and drama and steam and paints her scenes perfectly ,delivering a great read. Loved and recommend this book.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
This was a hot read with a touch of everything. Heroine comes home to help her mum cause her dad is sick plus she is a cop so when she looks to get a job back home it happens to be her brothers best friend who is chief who is a widower that she ahs had a crush on since she was a teenager. Things started to get heat when they work a case together, the story has mystery & heat it works well together
Moving home to help take care of her father is no burden to Laura Vance, but not working may drive her to the brink!!! Applying at the local P.D. is just what she needs until she eyes her possible new boss, her teenage crush and brothers best friend. Police Chief Brody Peters has no problem interviewing Laura for the open deputy position, what he has a problem with is whether she'll stay or go back to the city leaving the position open again. Once Brody and Laura come face to face after years there is no doubt about the sizzling attraction on either side. Laura and Brody get thrown together as a team investigating when a teenage girl goes missing. Brody hasn't felt attraction towards anyone since his wife passed away and the guilt over his feelings for his best friends sister and his new deputy is eating him alive. One kiss in the hallway of a bar is all it takes yet he needs to stay on the right side of professional. One thing Brody appreciates about Laura is that she doesn't pussy foot around and has the lady balls to speak her mind. But what happens when the kidnapping suspect sets his sights on Laura??? Laugh out loud at the snarky dialogue between Laura and Brody, sweat at the heat between them and shed a tear with them over the pain of loss. Great characters you'll get lost in and feel the emotions Natasha L. Black describes. A highly recommended MUST READ!!! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and purchased a copy for my favorites collection. Looking forward to the next book.
This is a small town romance with forbidden love, comedy and mystery mixed in and is written from the heroine and hero’s point of views. Laura moves back home from the big city to help organize and take care of her sick dad and frazzled mom. She is a cop and accepts a job with the local P.D. where the chief (Brody) happens to be her older brother’s best friend, and her high school crush. The story takes us thru their emotions and actions as they try to deny their attraction and work together to solve a missing person case.
I love the banter between Laura and her dad as well as with her brother, you can tell there is a lot of love between them. Laura is a strong female lead as she is confident in her job, in her choice to uproot herself and move home, taking charge to organize her parents, and in standing up for what she wants. Brody is what I would call a typical person who has lost a spouse and is internally debating whether he deserves to be happy in love again. The mystery of the missing person is interesting to read about, Ms. Black did a great job of carrying the storyline and having Laura & Brody find clues. I’m not a typical mystery reader but this was the perfect amount because the mystery is more of a “background” story.

In this story we have Laura and Brody’s journey. These two grew up knowing one another as Brody is best friends with Damon who is Laura’s older brother. Laura leaves her position as a police officer in the city to return home when her dad’s illness becomes to much for her mom on her own. While getting everything set up Damon let’s her know there’s an opening at the station. Her dad was a firefighter and brother is one and the banter between them all us just unique and good natured. Brody, the Chief of police is a widower as his wife passed from an illness at a young age and he has keep to himself since. When Laura is interviewed for the job she’s hired and something in each of them comes alive! When a young girl goes missing they both work the case and find they work well together and while taking a break Brody ends up kissing Laura and from there things are unsettled between them. The investigation becomes intense and Laura is dealing with that along with being watched by the guy whose is kidnaping girls. Brody has guilt over how he feels for Laura but when life gives you a second chance at love and it throws danger with it he has to decide if he wants Laura as a co-worker or the woman to share his life with?!? This was a really good book! I couldn’t put it down. Laura came home to help take care of her father. Her mother was doing everything and she was worn out. Laura left her job as a Charleston police officer and moved back home to Rockford falls. Her father didn’t want any one coming to his house. Laura came home and put her foot down. She got her mother out of the house. Her mother needed a break and help. Laura made up a schedule and hired a maid a couple times week and home nurse was coming in to help. Her brother Damon was a firefighter. He helped out when he could. Damon has been friends with Brody all his life. Damon has been with Brody through everything. He attended his wedding and he was their for Brody with his wife died. Damon helped Brody handle the grief of losing his wife. Laura applied for a job at Rockford pd. Laura had a crush on Brody since she was a teenager. Brody saw her in new light. He thought of her as Damon’s baby sister. She was grown and confident. His body came alive when she was near and he was fighting it. He felt like he was dishonoring his wife’s memory. They were working on case a young girl never returned home and her family was worried. This case stumped them. Another young girl went missing in the next town over. They were doing their best to find these young girls. This story was so good. I didn’t want this to end.
Laura has known Brody for years. Though with Laura only coming back after her father's illness and her mother's need for help seeing each other again was like seeing each other for the first time. Although Laura has had a long standing crush on Brody. To Brody Laura was always Damon's little sister. Besides the fact that he was married the last they saw each other he has never looked at her in any other way but as a sister. Laura was a great cop in Charleston and since there would soon be an opening even with Brody being the chief, it seemed like a no brainer to apply. Laura is thrown into the deep in a very important case. Brody and Laura are forced to spend many nights in the car and alone at the station. Getting to know each other better. Finding that the attraction isnt just physical but emotional. Though with Brody still dealing with being a widower and falling for his best friends' sister things couldn't be more complicated. The story is a slow burn friends to lovers romance, with a ton of heart, drama, and suspense thrown in. Which made the moment when they finally got together and took care of the bad guys all the better.

This book brings us Laura and Brody. Laura moves back home from Charleston to Rockford Falls as her father is ill due to kidney disease. Her mother called Laura frantic as her father doesn't want any outside help to take care of him. Laura is a cop, and is completely bored at home, so she asks her brother Damon if he knows of any kind of work she can do, and he tells her that the police force is down one person due to a retirement. Damon's best friend Brody is the Chief of Police. Brody is shocked when Laura comes in for the job - she is nothing like he remembers. She is stunning. Laura had a major crush in her early teen years, and just the site of Brody brings all that back. However, Brody lost his wife some time ago and has closed himself off of any kind of relationship, but upon starting the job, there is a missing persons case. Both Brody and Laura find that they work well together, but the person responsible for the missing girls, is also watching Laura. It was nice that Laura was so strong of a character, and to see Brody finally opening up again to love after such heartbreak. This was a great read and I highly recommend it. I did receive an arc for an honest review.
This new book is full of heat, drama and emotion. I love these characters. Laura with her confidence, strength and sharp tongue is up for any challenge. She is a dynamo with her family, her friends and her career as a police officer and that scares Brody, her chief and brother's best friend right out of his mind. Brody is still grieving his wife's death and trying to come to terms with a stirring of emotions, feelings and passion for Laura that he didn't think he would ever feel again. They are great together and compliment each other's personalities. The way Laura can come up with a sassy comeback or line is amazing and what I really appreciate is that she is consistent with this trait throughout the whole book. She is her own comic relief.
I love the way the family drama and the crime drama are plotted throughout the story. They are a big part of Laura's life and to see her act and react to each makes this "fast paced, done before you know it" kind of book a really good one. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed reading this story. Laura has moved back in town to help her mother look after her father who has kidney failure. She quit her job on the Charleston police force in the city and then realises that she need something to do while she’s at home, so she applies for a job that has just opened up in the Rockford Falls police department.
Her new boss Brody is her brother’s best friend who she had a crush on when she was in high school, he’s even better looking now even though he is a widower. Now she has to fight her attraction for him and he for her, they are fighting a losing battle. They are both on a case together to solve a missing persons report, then they discovered there’s another missing person in the neighbouring town and there is a man in town who is there leading perpetrator, then Laura is followed around town, she seems to be the next target. There is a lot of action, a lot of hot sexy scenes and a happily ever after the end.
I was given an advanced copy of this book to read and review with my honest and fair opinion.
This book was good. I did have some issues with it. I'll start off by saying if the sexy scenes weren't as hot as they were I would've given 3 stars. The author wants to portray these characters as being able to joke around and all that. But holy shit that's all they do is pick and each other. It was so annoying. At 37% I bout just said the hell with this book and not finish it. 1 of the things i liked was even though the characters didn't have sex until 70% in they each had detail fantasies. So it felt like the 3rd time they had sex when actual it was the first. If it weren't for those detailed fanatasie I would've nfb. Over all, all i can say was the book was ok but good. The story plot wasn't as thrilling as the author has done in other books. Nothing really jumped off the page at you. Except *spoiled* when Brody basically says if we do this ur mine, blah blah blah... But after they do it he just up and leaves her then thinks about how it was all a mistake and a fuck up.
Living Their New Normal - When Brady and Laura met after years of not seeing each other, the chemistry between them was undeniable, but they tried everything to keep themselves in check. Working together was difficult, which made their unplanned sexual encounter even more intense, but they soon realised that nothing was more important, after Laura’s life was threatened.
I really loved reading this book, as it took me on an emotional rollercoaster and left me shaken to the core. There are a few surprises that will keep you on the edge of your seat, but I can assure you, this book was a really good page turner. This well written story is entertaining, with engaging banter and a storyline that will keep you engrossed from the beginning until the end. You won’t be able to put it down once you start reading it.
I received an advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was a great book that kept me hooked til the very end. Brody is best friends with Laura’s brother Damon. She had a crush on him when she was a teenager. He got married and is now the Chief of Police and a widower. Laura is coming home to be closer to her family and to help her mom out. She plans on staying and that is when Damon tells her there will be an opening on the police department and to go talk to Brody about the position. She ends up getting the job and now they are both working a kidnapping case together. Both are trying to hold their feelings together. Brody has extreme guilt over having such feelings for Laura. He feels like he is betraying his wife. He also remembers that she is one of his officers and they can’t get involved. Their attraction to each other is intense as is the case they are working. This was so well and I liked the suspense, drama, and twists. Laura may be just what Brody needs to heal from the pain of losing his wife.
An enjoyable, well written story. Laura has returned to her small town to help her mother care for her father, who is on dialysis – and continues in her career as a cop by joining the local police force, which is led by Damon, her brother’s best friend. Damon is a widower, but had known Laura when she was younger – and Laura always had a crush on Damon. Despite their misgivings about their previous histories, and the friendship of Damon and Laura’s brother, they first fall in lust, and then in love. The development of their lover relationship takes place in the midst of a mystery of missing girls from the area that they are trying to solve – and it makes the story even more exciting as they are deeply involved in dealing with the problems of the kidnappings. Both Laura and Damon are really likable and intelligent characters and their interaction is believable and at times, humorous. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
As a widower, Brody still feels loyalty to his late wife. Add in the facts that Laura is his best friend’s little sister and his new employee, and the poor man is going out of his mind with guilt over his feelings about her. Laura’s had a crush on her brother’s best friend for as long as she can remember. Now that he’s her new boss, things could get complicated. The tension and angst are top notch in this book with the relationship between Brody and Laura being all kinds of off limits. Even though we all knew the effort would fail, I loved watching this pair fight their feelings for one another. I also quite enjoyed the mystery of the case they were investigating. I kind of wish the solution had been handled in a different way though. Now that we’ve started to get to know some of the residents of Rockford Falls, I want to know even more about them. I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout.
I am admittedly a huge fan of Natasha L. Black. She weaves great reads with super, hot alpha men who fall for bright, independent women. The characters have depth, are compelling, and the reads are steamy and interesting. Brody and Laura's story is a great addition to her oeuvre ( a $100 word I never get to use). Brody is Laura's brother's best friend and her high school crush. After high school, they move on with their lives, Brody works his way up to Chief of Police in hs hometown and Laura goes off to a big city to become a cop as well. When her father becomes ill, she moves back home to help her parents and accepts a job with the local PD, where Brody is now the chief. They work a case together, become closer, and well, you guess the rest. The book is well written, has witty dialogue between Laurs, her brother and father, and chemistry and steam. Great, well paced read.

Wow!! What an intense and very steamy story. I loved reading Hot Cop by Natasha L. Black. I read it in one day. I just couldn't stop. I needed to know what would happen next. Laura was a cop and had returned home to help her parents because her dad was ill. She applied for a position with the local police department and Brody was the captain. He was her brother's best friend. Laura had a big time crush on him when she was younger. When they met up again, the intensity of attraction was there for both of them. They soon start working together on a missing child case and things become so intense and dangerous. I would highly recommend reading this very steamy and very intense story. I am leaving this review voluntarily after being sent a free book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. Fantastic story!!!
This was a great read that is the perfect combination it was a brothers friend small town romance with a wonderful mystery thrown in to keep the pages turning The term hot cop could relate to either Brody or Laura
Laura returns to her small town after her father is taken ill and her mother isn't handling it all that well the only thing is there isn't enough to do at home to keep her occupied this big city cop applies for a job with the local police force Only problem her new boss is not only the man she has had a crush on for years but her older brothers best friend Brody is instantly attracted to his new recruit but not only does he have to worry about the bro code but he is still feeling as though it is to soon to move on after the death of huis wife When a case has them working together the barriers between them will crash and he will do whatever he needs to to keep her safe
Laura comes back home to help her mom with her sick dad. But when she hears about a possible job in the police dept she applies for a position to work there also. Brody is her brother's best friend and now her new boss. He is surprised when she tells him that she is back for good when she interviews for the job but is glad to give her the job because she's the best person for it. Soon the both of them are hot on the trail of someone that has taken some young girls in their area and then when Laura gets a threat Brody worries that she'll be next. Will they find the person behind this before they get to Laura? Will Laura and Brody get their chance at a happy ending?
This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.
I received this book in advance for a voluntary honest review. I honestly loved it! Laura returns to her small hometown to take care of her sick father and help out her mom. She interviews to be the new police officer with the town after leaving her big city gig as a detective. Unfortunately for her Brody Peters is the new chief who she has been crushing on since she was a teenager. Brody is a widower with no intention of finding love again. Once he meets Laura, he’s unable to control his baser urges and he fights them as long as he can. The attraction is definitely mutual, but Laura’s brother is Brody‘s best friend and Laura is his employee. Afraid of conflict with his best friend and issues at work Brody tries to push Laura away, but it’s too late he’s already fallen for her. These two are super hot together,It was a great read that I couldn’t put down, and I highly recommend.
Teenage crush to professional respect and real love Hot Cop: A Brother’s Best Friend Romance by Natasha L. Black is a nicely done police officer romance with a hot alpha chief of police and a new hire, but not new to town stellar police officer. This book is way more than a romance or a taboo romance at that. It’s got a compelling and suspenseful plot that is sprinkled with plenty of tension building chemistry to all out steam. At some point something has got to give, namely Brody giving in. The characters are wonderful and I especially adored Laura. She’s irreverent and witty, smart police work and still feminine. She totally catches Brody’s eye even though he swears love a second time around is not in the cards for him. Overall, this hot cop romance suspenseful and steamy for a good all around read. I read an ARC of this book and voluntarily share my review.
This story is an emotional rollercoaster ride to healing an love.Laura left her job in the city as a cop.She going home to help take care of her father. After she gets home an helps her mom take care of her father she tells him he's going to let someone help her mom take care of him she's going to get a job an will help take care of him. When her brother Damon comes for dinner it's like old times picking on each other. He mentions that the Chief of police is Brody she goes for her interview she's nervous because she had a crush on Brody for years .When she walks in Brody loses his breathe when he sees the woman Laura has grown into.He hires her an takes her as his partner. There are so many twists and turns to this story you will be riveted until the very last page an leave you begging for more.
Hot Cop is the first book in the new Rockford Falls Romance series and is a slow burning romance between Laura Vance and Brody Peters. All I can say is Brody is one hot cop who could slap his cuffs on me any day. With that said this book was a mix for me. There are parts that I really loved in this brother best friend/best friend's little sister and boss/employee mixed tropes. But at times there were detail inconsistencies and at times the story was rushed and a bit all over the place. I have read several books by this author and always really enjoyed them, so I was surprised and a bit disappointed with Hot Cop. But even with that I will still read this author again and visit Rockford Falls with the next book in this series.
I received a copy of this book and am leaving my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
Hot Cop: A Brother's Best Friend Romance by Natasha L. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Good romance but with a lot of hesitation It's a beautiful romance, borrows from a lot of hesitation for the male character of Brody, Chief of Police, blocked by his loyalty to his late wife, his friendship with Laura's brother his new colleague and his professional attitude towards her. But Laura is a strong character, who on the contrary is compassionate, full of empathy, but who knows what she wants, without backing down with each conflict. The story mixes their complex relationship and an investigation into the disappearance of young girls, bringing a touch of action to the romance that grows in sexual tension between the two heroes. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
This is a brother's best friend romance. A well written story with interesting and relatable characters. The sexual chemistry between them is explosive. I was engaged from start to finish.
Laura moved back home to help take care of her dad. Now that she has everything settled at home, she's bored and needs to get a job. Her brother told her that Rockford Falls was looking for a police officer. But could she work with the man she had a crush on in high school?
Brody is the chief of police and Laura's brothers best friend. One of his officers just retired and he needs to find a replacement. He hated doing interviews. When Laura walked in, he knew it would be a mistake to hire her, but she had all the necessary qualifications.
I had high hopes this might be a great romance. Nope. Just another stupid, twisty-turny Scooby Doo Mystery. How I do wish writers would stop all assuming they are great sleuths, and that readers of ROMANCE can’t possibly be satisfied with plain old romance. Gotta have that ‘suspense/drama/thriller’ nonsense to shore it up. This could have been a great romance, had the writer just let it be. I read past the 60% point. Not a kiss. Not a touch. Not a…nothin, except in their ‘thoughts’. 99% of the part I read was flat-out Scooby Dooby Doo. I despise these mystery wannabes. That’s why I always choose ROMANCE when looking for a book. Romance is good enough for me. How I wish it were good enough for writers of romance.
Brody and Laura's story will have you glued to the drama! Brody is Laura's brother best friend and the towns chief of police. When Laura moved back home to help out her mom, she found she had too much time on her hand and was going crazy. Her brother suggested that she interview for the vacant officer slot and her journey with Brody began. Their journey starts with a missing girl and as they work the case, Brody gets closer to Laura who is already harboring a secret crush of the man. When she gets a threat made to her that she is next, the adrenalin is kicked up higher and everyone is on edge. Will Brody and Laura find the culprit responsible, and can Brody keep Laura safe? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.
