Meet Moe! He’s a slow movin' sloth that just can't seem to get anywhere on time! Travel along with Moe on his adventure to Tasty Treats. With the help of his friends and a little determination, Moe just might get a cold, delicious, tasty treat after all. Teaches teamwork, displays friendship and models determination. Interactive book for young children. Children love mimicking animals and this book is a fun way to let the inner animal out. Whether it’s scooching like Moe, leaping like Lily or flapping like Mrs. Beaks, children will have a ball with this fun tale.
Read as part of my new "Settle back Sunday" initiative where I take advantage of access to children's books I can borrow and give back. When I was a kid, the weekly trips to our town library were some of the few things I loved about my childhood. And the pile of books mom would bring home, from picture books to chapter books, were the things that got me through many a terrible time.
I enjoy reading children’s picture books. I downloaded the Prime Reading book because the name of the character, Slow Moe, reminded me of myself. The story is cute. The illustrations are simple, colorful and enhance the story. I would enjoy reading this to the little people in my life. 4 stars
Good Story and Word Play… But Too Many Language Errors
This book could have been outstanding if the author had only chosen to have it proofread. The author has a good sense of wordplay that works in children's books. Unfortunately, the author didn't seem to have much sense of English grammar, punctuation, and usage. It felt like every two-page spread had language errors. They started on the very first page, where the author didn't know how to use commas or dashes with compound nouns like “summer morning” or “super deal.” In the first case, she included “summer” with the parallel adjectives that further defined the entire compound noun of “summer morning,” and in the second, she used a dash between “super” and “deal.” This latter mistake was repeated throughout the book. Also, at least two times in the book, she forgot to close the second quotation mark needed after a line of dialogue. The author had other issues with punctuation around dialogue. There were also the occasional run-on sentences, introductory phrases without a comma, and animal friends being directly addressed by name without a comma. Other mistakes were scattered throughout the book, but I will not continue to detail them. The story itself is about how a sloth named Moe is trying to get to town so he can get a special deal on ice cream. But, as the author mentions again and again, sloths are slow. He misses the bus to get to town, and his other animal friends try to assist him by showing how they move... but of course, their modes of travel (e.g., flying, hopping) won't work for him. The friends come up with a novel solution. The story itself is fine, with an excellent theme of friends helping each other, but unfortunately, the author's many issues with language make it so I feel I cannot recommend it, as I wouldn't want children to learn bad grammar and language from a book like this.
1.5 rounded up to 2
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
This adorable story by Rebecca Rae Williams is about Moe the sloth who can't seem to move fast enough to get to the ice cream truck across town in time for a great deal on his tasty frozen treat. He encounters a few friends along the way as he struggles to hurry. He meets Lily the frog, Mrs. Beaks a blue bird, and Pepper the squirrel. Each of them tries to help him move faster by trying to show him how they get around. Does Moe make it to his ice cream truck in time for his favorite treat? You will want to read this book to find out.
This is an excellent book for children which can lead to a few classroom learning points. This book would be an excellent tool to start a conversation on how different animals move and a great introduction to a new animal, the sloth.
I loved this sweet little story about a sloth doing his absolute best to get some ice cream during the summer, and how each of his friends pitched in to help him get there! I won't spoil the ending, but I'll just say that he's got some good friends!
I would definitely recommend this story to all kids and adults with friends who have chronic illnesses. This is how to be a good friend with the capacity to do things to your friends with chronic illnesses who sometimes do not have that capacity. Love makes the world go 'round!
Cute tale of friend helping friend with a sweet end🍦
This storybook would be great for a group story time as it's got a longer story length (for a picturebook) and a great message of helping others. The sloth has a mission but he's never going to succeed without the help of his animal friends he meets along the way. The text has some repetition of new, harder words for reinforcement. The illustrations are cute and bright.
Moe the Sloth wants to go to the Tasty Treats Ice Cream Shop, but he is so slow he is not going to make it on time. However, there they come his friends to his aid. A fantastic story about friendship. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
Good friends will help you, no matter what. Moe wants some ice cream but being a slow sloth, doesn’t make it in time. His friends try to help him become faster, but when that doesn’t help, they do the next best thing for their friend Moe. A cute book about the value of good friends.
My 7 year old said this was an amazing story. My wife and I loved the alliteration. Our 3 year old really enjoyed the sloths name. Our dog is named Moe? We are wondering why moe the sloth.
I have a child who sometimes reminds me of a sloth. I like Moe's determination and willingness to try. His friends are also very cool. Keep moving, Moe! That's what my child tries to do!
Kids enjoyed the Beautiful storyline. It was a fun read and it was a beautiful message behind it. It's nice to see stories like this so we can share with our children how to be kind to our family and friends.
I really liked this book. It is fast paced and keeps the reader engaged. I would recommend to Everyone who likes to read!! I picked this book for my grandson who is In The second grade.
I know it's a kid book, but there is bad punctuation, phrasing, and overall style throughout the book. I wish some more attention had been paid to the text.
This book is just so sweet. No one trying to change the Sloth. They just allow him to move at his speed and then bring him help when he needs it. I am so happy. And sobbing omg
This book is about a sloth who is too slow to get his ice cream, but his friends help him by bringing the ice cream truck to him! This book is cute and fun for young kids because it is repetitive and I would like to use it in my classroom.

I loved reading the story with my son especially at the end looking at the sloth they are one of our favorite animals and the illustrations were beautiful
It's a cute book but I was having trouble figuring out what the message was until the very end. I'm still a bit confused. Was it that we should help those that may not be able to keep up?
