A rot creeps through the Continent, threatening to destroy its very foundation
After her victory in the south, Charlaine is summoned to the Antonine, where the Church rules supreme. Before she even arrives, an outcast confronts her with a mysterious warning, propelling her to question all she thought to be true.
Armed with this knowledge, she must tread carefully in the politically charged courts of the north. Upon taking up the mantle of Temple Knight, the challenges she encounters reveal why she was tasked with this new command.
Entrusted with the secret mission of creating a new Holy Fleet, she soon discovers a far-reaching conspiracy. Even with Danica by her side, she struggles to protect the order from a deadly enemy who is determined to win at any cost.
Unsure who they can trust, they must now come to terms not only with the possible annihilation of their order but the very Church itself. Somehow, they must preserve the tenuous peace keeping the Petty Kingdoms united or see all they value destroyed.
Paul J Bennett (b. 1961) emigrated from England to Canada in 1967. His father served in the British Royal Navy, and his mother worked for the BBC in London. As a young man, Paul followed in his father’s footsteps, joining the Canadian Armed Forces in 1983. He is married to Carol Bennett and has three daughters who are all creative in their own right.
Paul’s interest in writing started in his teen years when he discovered the roleplaying game, Dungeons & Dragons (D & D). What attracted him to this new hobby was the creativity it required; the need to create realms, worlds and adventures that pulled the gamers into his stories.
In his 30’s, Paul started to dabble in designing his own roleplaying system, using the Peninsular War in Portugal as his backdrop. His regular gaming group were willing victims, er, participants in helping to playtest this new system. A few years later, he added additional settings to his game, including Science Fiction, Post-Apocalyptic, World War II, and the all-important Fantasy Realm where his stories take place.
The beginnings of his first book ‘Servant to the Crown’ originated over five years ago when he began a new fantasy campaign. For the world that the Kingdom of Merceria is in, he ran his adventures like a TV show, with seasons that each had twelve episodes, and an overarching plot. When the campaign ended, he knew all the characters, what they had to accomplish, what needed to happen to move the plot along, and it was this that inspired to sit down to write his first novel.
Paul now has four series based in his fantasy world of Eiddenwerthe and is looking forward to sharing many more books with his readers over the coming years.
Moving up the ranks. In this interesting Military saga are strong women who fight for what is right. They will dig out the truth of a situation. Wonderful characters and great world building let you envision the story as it unfolds.
Temple Knights Charlaine and Danica were on their way Antonine and had been on the road for months. And exiled Temple Knight named Mateo told them of a rot In the Church at Antonine. Mr. Bennett has written another excellent book that keeps you reading wanting to know what's going to happen next. Charlaine and Danica are sent north and they fulfill the orders given to them by the Grand Mistress. This is a well-written book and I can't wait to see what happens to Charlaine and Danica and the other Temple Knights of St. Agnes get up to in the next book...
Charlaine and Danica really come into their own in Temple Captain.
Charlaine learns to trust her instincts and to have faith in her decisions. She is a natural born leader and tends to attract people to her that can be of assistance in her endeavours for her Order.
Being tasked with building a fleet in the North, Danica has found her element. She grew up in the region and knows how treacherous the sea can be. Her confidence has no bounds and her fellow Sister Knights are quite happy to follow her lead.
Charlaine and Danica are both strong characters and I have loved watching them grow into the capable women they are. I so look forward to reading more of their adventures to keep the peace in the Petty Kingdoms.
I received a free Advance Reader Copy of Temple Captain: An Epic Military Fantasy Novel from the author and have chosen to leave a review.
The author pulls the reader into the world of Eiddenwerthe, specifically into that part of the world were the Temple Knights of Saint Agnes operate. His imagination will set your imagination free. The are a powerful military arm of the Saints. There goal is to protect women and the downtrodden, but this quickly escalates into battles.
The battle scenes are thorough and well thought out. The author brings you into the planning to execute these battles. The strategy both on the battlefield and in the home offices shows how thoroughly this story and storyline are thought through and presented.
If you love a good fantasy with swords, ships, mages and of course a battle of good vs. evil, this book will be perfect for you.
As always Paul gives you a incredible story with amazing characters and a storyline that has your heart beating faster than ever. This story follows Charlaine deShandria and Danica Meers Sisters of Saint Agnes. Charlaine is promoted to Temple Captain and Danica is given the opportunity to set up a Temple ship in Reinwick the capital of Korvoran. This is a secret mission set up by the Grand Mistress of their order. The action, secrets and corruption has you on pins and needles routing for Charlaine and Danica to once again stand up for what is right and stop the enemy from afar and within the churches. I love this series to date and can’t wait for more.
Wow! What an amazing story! Temple Captain, the third book of this series, is full of intrigue, action and adventure. Charlaine and Danica, the two heroines, become embroiled in the political scheming of the Church, while trying to perform their duties and establish themselves in their new command. Bennett once again displays a remarkable talent for bringing his characters to life. Waiting for the next book will be extremely tough!
This is a brilliant read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Paul J. Bennett continues to deliver. In "Temple Captain" Charlaine and Danica are once again embroiled in battles with the Halvarians. The battles, which take place on land and at sea, are quite graphic and heart pounding. If you're looking for a book with an excellent story line and detailed descriptions of the events taking place, then put this on your reading list. Be sure to read the series in order.
Being called to Antonine was but the start of a harrowing new venture as Temple Captain for Charmaine. Targeted for some control by another's ambition, Charmaine had to step carefully in order to deal with the slow rot spreading in Antonine. But it is her and Danica's subsequent secret mission that will set of a chain of events nobody really could have foreseen. And had me gasping a number of times. Temple Captain is certainly enthralling. Enjoy
This book caught me since the beginning and I couldn't let it go until the last page! I enjoyed a lot this book 3 in the series and especially how Charlaine has grown since the series started, always showing us her strength and self-assured demeanor that made her adventures so good and interesting. This is one of my favorite series ever!
Another amazing story in a highly detailed and engaging series. I’m having a blast reading this series. Such a new and fresh perspective on the traditional single protagonist or group series. I love the low magic setting giving it a more realistic approach to the story while still giving just a hint of the fantastical.
Charlaine deShandria is promoted to Captain of the commandery in the Antonine. Her story runs parallel with her friend and fellow Temple Knight of Saint Agnes, Danica. Both work together to try to bring peace to the area amidst adversity. Their strengths are put to the test time after time.
Faith and determination keeps the Temple Captain alive and succeeding. This is such a remarkable and complex series. I marvel the author is able to keep track of everything.
Paul Bennett once again leaves the reader wanting more. The plot twists and politics of this well built world are addictive. Extra points for such strong female protagonists and the sea battles.
