“We’re looking for someone with a little more experience.”
It’s the same everywhere I turn. No one wants a woman in the pit.
What they don’t understand is, I was practically born with a wrench in my hand. My five brothers all drivers, and my father a retired pit crew manager, taught me everything I know.
Snagging a coveted spot on Kye—THE HOTTEST GUY IN RACING—Kingston’s crew will be the chance I need to show everyone what I’m capable of.
******
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but you need her.”
There were more qualified applicants sure, but my manager was right Berkleigh Shaw just might be the motivation that Kingston Racing needs to win.
She’s a spitfire covered in grease. And from the moment she stumbled into my arms the day we first met, I knew she’d be the added fuel to my flame. Both on and off the track.
****** When the finish line is in sight, LOVE is the only thing that will earn us the checkered flag.
TL Mayhew is a Contemporary and Dark Romance writer from Nebraska. Her love for reading started back in elementary school when her favorite books, The Black Stallion, Black Beauty and Misty of Chincoteague all seemed to have one theme... a horse as the leading character. It's fair to say that since then her reading tastes have changed and now, instead of a horse as the leading character it's a hot alpha.
In high school TL took a creative writing class where she received high praise for her work. At that same time though, boys caught her interest and any urge to write went via the way side.
It wasn't until she married and had two kids, that TL put any thought in to writing. And even then it was close to a year before any words were put on paper. Amazingly those words were the direct result of a question "Do you want to give it a try?" from an Author TL idolizes. If it weren't for that question she may never have realized her love for writing and wouldn't have her first work releasing in January 2018.
Berkleigh is a determined female in a world full of domineering alpha males, but growing up with an overprotective dad and a whole squad of overprotective brothers has given this woman the strength and the independence to give things a go, do things on her own. Then she meets one of racing's hottest men and she's feeling things for a guy she's never before felt, but there's just one thing, he ends up being her new boss. Will a relationship with her boss get in the way of her dreams?
I think this just may be my favorite of all the Driven World stories because Berkleigh and Kye are amazing together! She's sweet, strong and sassy af without being unbearable. Her chemistry with Kye was hot and I love the way he was all in with her once he saw her again. This is a sexy, sweet addition to the Driven World.

OH MY GOODNESS, THIS BOOK!! HOT, FAST, SLICK--words that can describe a racetrack, but better describe the Alpha race car driver in Qualify!!! TL Mayhew's new novel brings you back to the garage and track with sexy, suave race car driver, Kye Kingston, and sweet, smart, small-town female mechanic, Berkleigh Shaw. This contemporary romance was a fantastic read! It grabbed my attention from the very beginning and pulled me headfirst into the garage, uh, I mean story, capturing my imagination and making me want to know what was going to happen next. I was turning the pages like a race car driver drives--fast and furiously. I love a great Alpha male, and Kye Kingston did not disappoint. He is smooth, in-charge and swoon-worthy! Berkleigh Shaw is a strong, sweet young woman trying hard to make it on her own. When her path crosses with Kye Kingston, she's drawn to the handsome race car driver like a moth to a flame, but she's determined not to be distracted by anything or anyone when it comes to her life goals. Likewise, Kye can't seem to get the pretty, young mechanic out of his mind. He knows he should walk away, but that's just not an option. Their story is filled with suspense, excitement, steamy romance, angst and tons of emotion. I LOVED it! There's plenty here to keep you reading. Grab it and enjoy!
My favorite book so far in 'The Driven World' series. I was hooked from the outset on this slow build-up but very hot book. The chemistry is off the charts between our wonderful girl mechanic Berkleigh and our racing driver Kye Kingston.
"Magnet to Steel".
Kye meet Berkleigh a couple of years ago when by accident he saved her from some unwanted advances from her professor, there was chemistry but she never did contact him, now a couple of years on, their paths cross again. Berkleigh never forgot her 'Knight' who saved her that day, but although she has grown up as the only girl in a family of 5 brothers and just her dad, she knows that the hot racing drive is just a player. But like a magnet, she is drawn to him and when she gets the chance to be a mechanic on his stock car team, well it isn't something she can pass up, she only hopes she can keep her professional.
The spark between the two lights up the pages as these two try and fight the growing attraction, but when someone starts to stalk Berkleigh, Kye will stop at nothing to keep her safe.
I would highly recommend 'Qualify' one of those books that you know from the start that you are going to thoroughly enjoy it!
OH MY HELL! There is so much #GIRLPOWER in The Driven World that I hope it never ends! TL Mayhew's Qualify is the perfect addition to the #GIRLPOWER trend that's happening & I never wanted it to end. Berkleigh is a pit crew girl who keeps getting doors slammed in her face since she doesn't have enough experience, or is it because she's a girl?! I mean it's a male dominated world but finally, the racing team of Kye Kingston is going to give her a chance, and the fact that he's easy on the eyes is an added bonus, though she's determined to keep her head down & not get distracted. However, he's a total alpha male who doesn't let anything get in his way, and he can't get Berkleigh out of his mind. This story was filled with tons of heat, action & suspense, and angst to get my emotions out to play so totally a good time! DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE FAST PACED RIDE! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
I received this free eARC novel from the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions. This is my honest review.
This was a fantastic book! It was my first book by this author and my first book in this series, but I didn't feel lost or confused at all! I loved the tension began Berkeley and Kye, and I loved the suspense that also happened in this book.
Berkeley is an amazing character. Even though she knew she would have trouble being a female in a very dominated world, that didn't stop her one bit in pursuing her dreams. She kept going and she was adamant that she do it on her own as well. I love her gumption and drive.
The amount of no self control Kye had around Berkeley was so attractive to me. He tried, I'll give him that, but them being apart was not meant to be.
I'm really glad I got the chance to read this book! Everyone is going to love it!
Berkleigh Shaw has an amazing family that has an overbearing dad and 5 brothers, but that love her unconditionally. They only want what is best for her so they suggest she goes away to college. While there she works her booty off to get where she wants to be when some tries to hurt her she literally runs into a handsome man. Kye Kingston is the hot new driver who has built his company with his grandma who is sassy as all get out. When Kye and Berkleigh meet sparks do fly and so does a protectiveness that he has over her. When they meet again he will do whatever he can to keep her. But for them, it may not be all rainbows and balloons. Love might be able to bridge this gap, but will someone let that happen or will they destroy what they have built?
This author always surprises me with every story she comes out with. Qualify did not disappoint me! I loved the main character she was edgy and different. I enjoyed how bold she was. I wish I had a little of her in me! I LOVED how the story opened and how the plot thickened. By the end, I was riddled with emotion, I couldn’t take my eyes off the pages! This was a brilliant story!!
Berkleigh meets her knight in college, but can’t make herself call him. He brings the memories back to life. But when she meets him again a year later, she is ready to have him in her life. Or so she thinks… Kye is sure of what he wants from Berkleigh, but realizes she may not be ready.
Berkleigh wants to participate in the family business. Kye is a race car driver with a bad boy reputation. This story is a great representation of a woman trying to put a dent into a place where men rule. It also came out at the perfect time if you are NASCAR fan. I grew up in a family that would religiously watch the races so this gave me more of an indication on how a woman could fit into their world.
Our author does a great job at showing the passage of time without going into any great detail. The good thing is that you won’t feel as if you have missed anything. She gives the reader a couple that seem to have an instant connection. They happen to meet at a point where Berkleigh is having an issue with a very minor character. If you are someone who has an issue with triggers, that might be something to be mindful of.
One thing I liked was the fact that most of this story is from Berkleigh’s point of view. Kye has a voice as well but he takes something of a backseat as far as giving his thoughts on things. The author does a great job of immersing her readers into the racing world. Either she is a big fan or has done a lot of research to have everything seem so accurate - I can almost see and hear the cars going around the track now. Usually the only thing we see of the pit crew is when the racer comes into the pits. This story gives us a little more.
Ms. Mayhew did leave me hanging. Since we have families in the business, are we going to see said Shaw family members at some point? If so, the ending doesn’t give any of that away. I guess patience has become part of my future.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
This is a wonderful addition to this awesome series and is Kye and Berkleigh’s journey. These two had fleetingly crossed paths a few years previously, but nothing ever came of their meeting. Now Berkleigh is a spitfire mechanic who is determined to follow her dreams as a female in a male dominated world. Kye is a sexy race driver, and the sparks fly between him and Berkleigh and their chemistry is of off the charts and undeniable. When Berkleigh acquires a stalker Kye will protect her by any means. This is a well written flawless story which is filled with angst, suspense, thrills, emotions, love, and is a steamy and all-consuming read. I look froward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
My first book by this author takes place in the Driven World my happy place. Berkleigh is a good female character to read I liked that although she is determined to make it in the racing world she was not written as having a hard personality but is still very feminine. Kye was an interesting guy and he has all the attributes that make him perfect for this world. He is sexy a little bit alpha but not too much, succesful and confident without an arrogance that would turn me off.
I liked the secondary characters in the story especially all Berkleigh's brothers and I would read their stories. The air of suspense adds that something extra to the story and coupled with the sexual tension kept me reading.
Berkley is aware of the challenges that she will be facing as woman mechanic on a racing team, but she knows that if she gets the opportunity, she has the skills to succeed. Getting personally involved with her boss is a recipe for disaster but keeping her distance is much easier said than done.
Kye is a race car driver who is confident in his skills on and off the track. He is drawn to Berkley in a way he never expected, and she might just be the one thing he has been missing in his life both personally and professionally.
Great characters, a little suspense and whole lotta heat as Berkley and Kye take you on a wild ride.
Berkleigh was definitely qualified to be on Kye's team and the chemistry between burned more than the race track. I loved seeing their relationship develop. Their personalities are real and they're relatable and the story just sucked me in from the beginning. It's sexy, exciting, and with a real alpha-male that likes to drive fast and hard, and not just the car.
