"Talent is overrated"
When we read stories of great men we would like to emulate, the most pregnant part is never the triumph, but all the challenges they had to overcome in order to be able to say: "I really did it"... If you think about it, at the beginning of their stories, all of these characters weren't very different from you. Some of them were born poor. Some were ugly and were bullied. Some of them were too depressed to fight. Some were too fearful. Some just too normal...
They had no way of knowing if they would ever succeed, many people told them that their task was impossible, but they tried. Sometimes they failed and so they tried again, and that is where the difference lies, that's all their self discipline!!

This book is good and easy to read, and based on common sense and science, relating sports challenges and life challenges. I do not know the author and first thought it was by the amazing Ultra-Marathon runner David Goggins (who wrote "Can't hurt me") but the author seems to be different and also talks about the famous athlet in the third person. But I mostly like the book. Many things I knew from similar books on time management etc.. This book stuck out, as the idea of olympic athletes was in the focus and sports and life challenges were put next to each other. For instance relating life challenges to sprint, mid-distance, and long distance runner's mindsets. I found this original and since I am a passionate runner myself it stuck in my mind and resonated with my own experiences. The 40 percent rule, however, I found a bit dangerous in it's application to sports, as overtraining often leads to injury and it is better to built up skills slowly.
