This is a fantastic way to read this series and never fear - there are more dragon books by this author that sometimes have characters from this series in them!
I read all of these books as an advanced reader. My reviews are always voluntary.
Mated to the Dragon
Alexander has left his mountain home to fulfill a prophecy that says he must find his human mate and she will be the savior of the dragon race. Of course, he has no idea where to look for her, or how he will know when he has found her, or even enough about the current world to keep himself out of trouble. When his presence is discovered by the wolf pack that claims NYC, he is unexpectedly rescued from certain death by a tiny human woman. She agrees to help him, and even his strangeness doesn't seem to faze her. Well, not until he has sex with her and then lets her catch him transforming into his dragon form to flee her apartment. Now she is freaked out, and the appearance of the wolves at her door is no help.
Lisa is trying to build her business as a dating coach and does not have time to actually have her own relationship. After several years in NYC, she has learned to talk tough and mind her own business, but when she hears the sounds of a fight in an alley outside her favorite coffee shop she can't stop herself from checking it out. The sight of the man on the ground bleeding is too much for her to ignore and her pepper spray dispatches his captor in short order. But now what is she supposed to do with the six-foot-something of gorgeous wounded male that refuses to seek medical attention? Why take him home with her, of course. Wait, what?
Protected by the Dragon
I loved this story about Samuel, Alexander's brother, and Jessica, a wolf shifter.
Jessica was raised in a village of wolf shifters who have kept their town virtually isolated from the human world, and definitely the Dragon world, for many, many years. As a result their is no influx of new people or new ideas. This means the mating pool is small and limited for each generation of wolves. Jessica finds herself in a position of being forced into marriage with the town Alpha, a nasty wolf that she greatly dislikes. Taking her chances and fleeing the only home and people she knows, Jessica finds herself alone and hurt when she falls into an icy crevasse. Things only get worse when she is found by a man she immediately identifies as a dragon shifter, the hated enemy of wolf shifters.
Samuel is just out to enjoy some fresh air when he discovers a woman, who is obviously badly hurt, at the bottom of a deep crevasse. His offers of warmth and shelter are firmly refused, though the woman does agree to let him bring her food and a pillow. As the two get acquainted, they find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other. After a passionate night together, Samuel begins to hope for something more, but how would he ever explain his feelings for a wolf to his dragon brother, the king? When Jessica disappears on him, leaving only a strange string of numbers on a piece of paper, Samuel realizes he must enlist the help of his human sister-in-law if he ever hopes to see her again.
Jessica can't believe that a dragon, a species that she had been taught to hate, was so kind and gentle towards her. When she meets up with a group of human backpackers and they share a meal and some companionship with her, she is even more confused. Humans are selfish and destructive, right? That is what she had always been told. When circumstances force her to return home to save her little sister, she never dreams that she could be rescued by her town's greatest enemy.
Auctioned to the Dragon
I enjoyed this book very much. I had a hard time putting it down so I could go to sleep. This story is about Helena who is the sister of Alexander and Samuel (from the first two books). She likes her human form and that gets her into trouble one day when she goes for a walk and gets taken by bad dragons who put a device around her neck that keeps her from shifting. Seems there is a big get-together of various shifters who like to buy themselves a little something, something before the big fight.
Arthur York came home one day from town to find that his entire family had been wiped out by renegade shifters. Seems that bear shifters are considered less than human among the other shifter species. They have a hard time controlling their shifts and cause murder and mayhem, especially the first time they shift since that is usually due to a traumatic event. Art and his "family" of bear shifters had been using techniques to hold off their shifts and had been successful, but they still had to hide. When Arthur decides to go after the shifters that killed his family he knows it is a death sentence and he is okay with that. He didn't expect to arrive at the shifter gathering and see his mate. He didn't expect to even have a mate and definitely didn't expect to find her being auctioned off to the man who led the raid on his family's home. His bear was not appreciative.
Find out what happens when a dragon who can't shift meets up with a bear shifter who doesn't want to shift and they end up on the run from other dragon shifters. I liked how Art put aside his vendetta when he needed to save Helena. Helena was very frustrated that she couldn't shift and kick butt and Art couldn't get the collar off her. Helena was fascinated about meeting a bear shifter and Art couldn't understand why that was. The two of them make a perfect couple if they can live long enough.
Kidnapped by the Dragon
I really enjoyed this book. We get Angela's story (Jessica's sister - wolf shifter) as she meets her mate...and he kidnaps her. Just her luck.
Owen is a dragon shifter who works for The College, a clandestine group that hires out assassins, among other things. He has been sent to carry out a mission for a group of white-eyed dragons (sound familiar?). They want the blonde princess of another dragon group kidnapped and brought to them. Her name is reported to be Angela, and there is also an artifact that they want located and stolen from the dragon stronghold.
Owen is used to just carrying out his orders without question and without having any feelings or opinions about his mission. He has been doing this work for centuries and is highly trained and trusted by The College. He can't figure out why he is suddenly unsure about kidnapping Angela. Is it just because she is so kind, and bubbly? Why does he feel like his whole life's work is suddenly in question? He must stick to the mission, right?
Guards to the Dragon
Wow, what a great story. Amara has left the mountain and is living alone in a little cabin trying to decide exactly what she wants to do with her long life. When four handsome shifters show up and tell her she is the long-lost queen of a group of shifters, she is not sure what to make of them. They are all gorgeous and she is surprised to find she wants to go with them, for more than one reason. She is sure one of them is a wolf, one reminds her of her bear shifter friend, but she has no idea what exactly the other two can shift into. When they are attacked by enemy forces who definitely do not want the queen to claim her throne, she knows she has to try to claim her town and her men. In the end, it might take a little help from her friends.
You will love the guys in the book, no wonder Amara doesn't want to pick just one.
Marked by the Dragon
Very nice paranormal romance in the Dragon Vally series. We met David in Amara's book and she and her mates will play a part in this story. David has returned home after years away. He has been avoiding his father, William, who is the terror of the valley. (You may remember him from previous books.) When his father unexpectedly gives him a piece of rocky, barren land David is not sure why, or exactly what he should do with it. When his friend Amara happens upon an old book of his about fortune telling she convinces him to visit with an Oracle near her kingdom.
Quinn and her father live in the Mojave Desert on a piece of land that has a magical make that nourishes it. They were forced from their real home in the Dragon Valley of Colorado when a conniving dragon forged a deed showing his ownership of the fertile land. (Yeah, William.) They took the magic stone that brought the water to the land and left. Quinn dreams of returning to reclaim their property, but her father refuses.
The Oracle sends David off with a dire message about his mate and her need of his presence due to impending danger. When he arrives at a desert oasis to find a furtive coyote shifter has gotten there before him and is trying to court his mate he is determined to stay and stake his claim. But what will happen when Quinn finds out who his father is? Why do the coyotes want Quinn and her father gone?
Hunted by the Dragon
The kidnappings continue in Dragon Valley. This time it is Rosaline. You might remember that she is one of David's twin sisters, so mean old William is her father. When a man asks her for help with moving a log that is blocking the road, she is quick to offer assistance. Unfortunately, Noah is there to grab her and take her back to his human boss. He doesn't realize that the man is crazy enough to gather up a bunch of shifter virgins for his "collection" and when he finds out he is not on board. Now that he got Rosaline into this mess, how is he going to get her out? On top of that, he is pretty sure she is his mate.
Claimed by the Dragon
Very exciting finale to the series as we get Olivia's love story. Olivia has always been the pessimist in the family. She is also the caretaker. Her father has been difficult ever since her mother left them when she was a child. Her brother has literally had his head in the stars and her twin sister was ever the optimist. Now that her siblings have found their mates and her father is finally coming around, she is feeling hemmed in by her life. Council meetings have lost their luster, even thought the dragon council is finally working on a written history. When she gets the chance to leave home and go to look for her mother, she doesn't even hesitate - much.
Damien's family has always lived among the humans and he knows very little about his dragon or his family history. When his father becomes ill and his mother also starts to fade, he knows he has to try to do something to bring them back. His mother sends him to find a family heirloom which she says will help heal them. Having very little information to go on he finds himself at a burned out shell of a town looking for a clue to lead him to the former inhabitants. When someone else shows up at the same place seemingly there for a similar purpose, he is unsure how to handle it. When the woman seems to know right off that he is a dragon, he is astonished. Maybe she can help him find what he is looking for, but first they have to trust each other enough to agree to work together.
Married Off to the Dragon
I have read this entire series and I think this will be a great prequel. For those of us who read it last, we know who Stephen is and how much he loved his Queen. We also know that he came to the kingdom from one where his brother ruled. Stephen and Albert had always thought they would rule their kingdom together once their father passed the reins. But when Albert met and wed his soulmate, it was obvious that the two of them were more than capable of ruling together which left Stephen at loose ends.
He had taken to working in the kingdom's archives as a way to pass the time and feel useful. When his brother tells him that they wish to have him marry the queen of another realm to strengthen ties with her kingdom and provide her support against a dragon who is systematically defeating and destroying small kingdoms, Stephen is surprised and apprehensive. He has heard that Reagan is a strong queen and he wonders if she was presented the marriage the same way he was. He had always hoped to find and marry his true mate like his brother had done, but the kingdom and his people were important to him and he was willing to serve as they needed him to. When he sees her for the first time he is gobsmacked. Could she possibly be his true mate?
Reagan was happy that her upcoming nuptials would give her small kingdom an ally against Clifford and his ravaging dragon army, but was not so happy that she was not marrying her true mate. She didn't understand her attraction to the handsome dragon prince and their wedding night was interrupted by the news that Clifford was nearing her kingdom and a battle was on the horizon. Would she and Stephen ever get a chance to explore their connection?
I had the pleasure of reading each of these books when they were first released and was happy to see that the whole series is now together here in one box set.
Mated to the Dragon - Alexander is the King of the Dragons who after reading a prophecy goes to New York to try and find his soulmate. He is way out of his depth he has not been around humans for decades and has no idea how to behave amongst them.
The wolves have claimed New York as their territory, and they aren't happy to see him but he meets Lisa who agrees to help him find a match. Alexander does find his soulmate but she finds out that he’s a dragon which was a shock. A fun read, well-written with great characters and chemistry.
Protected by the Dragon - I so enjoyed this one, Jessica and Samuel's story was well-written and had no trouble holding my attention, it has so much, tension, chemistry and attraction between Jessica and Samuel, so many past lies to be addressed will they ever achieve a HEA? Will trust come now between the wolves and the dragons? I was involved in the story from beginning to end.
Auctioned to the Dragon - This book was an emotional rollercoaster that brought tears to my eyes for a large part of the story, so do have your tissues handy because you will need them. The story is very well written, it has strong characters and it kept me guessing about if/how the two main characters were going to be together, him a bear and her a dragon.
He had already lost everything and she was about to lose everything! But she was able to give him what he needed in such an unexpected way. There's a lot more I could tell you but I'm not going to - if you like this genre you'll love it.
Kidnapped by the Dragon - Angela is a wolf she and her sister, were brought into the dragon's castle in a previous book. She is lonely and still single. Owen is an assassin who has been hired to steal a valuable artefact from the castle and kidnap Angela.
Both their lives are about to change in ways neither of them saw coming as this book takes us on a wild rollercoaster ride of surprising events and stormy emotions in this enthralling storyline with a gripping plot, lots of drama, uncertainty, angst, danger, and suspense and of course great chemistry!
Guards to the Dragon - This book is Amara's story if you have read earlier books in this series you may feel you already know her, but you really don't. Amara has always been made to feel separate from her community, she doesn't know her family history, she lives with her aunt and she can't fly whilst every other dragon can.
Amara has seen her friends and relatives find their soulmates whilst she is still alone and trying to decide what to do with her life. She goes off to live in a cabin whilst she tries to figure everything out. She is a dragon who can't fly what's her destiny? Then four alpha dragon guards arrive telling her that she's the long lost queen of their shifter group! They want her to go with them.
So begins her journey to find her own destiny, with these four sexy alphas who are all of a different species of shifter. The journey is full of ups and downs, twists and turns. She's attracted to all of them but can she have them? Do they want her? Be warned the chemistry is hot and the sex is steamy!
Marked by the Dragon - David and Quinn's story was an enjoyable romance and made a great addition to this series. David has been told that he has a mate somewhere and that he must find her and keep her safe.
Quinn's family’s land was stolen from them by shifters, she wants it back but she also wants revenge. She and David met, he thought she was beautiful and she thought he was gorgeous but will she want to be his mate? Will she trust him knowing he's a shifter and will he be able to claim her and make her his? They belong together but will past actions keep them apart?
Hunted by the Dragon - This is Noah and Rosaline's story. They met when Noah kidnapped her, not the best start to a relationship but he'd been ordered to do it by his boss who for reasons of his own is kidnapping shifter virgins. Things hot up when Noah finds this out and together they face intrigue, danger, and drama in the suspenseful hot shifter story. Well-defined characters and great chemistry.
Claimed by the Dragon - This is Damien and Olivia's story, her mother left to go find herself when she was a child but now Olivia has decided she needs to find her mother. She journies across the country and meets Damien, a dragon shifter, raised amongst humans he knows little about being a dragon. She seems much stronger emotionally than him but they work well together even though their path is far from smooth fate will not be denied.
Matched to the Dragon - This one is about Holly, a dragon shifter who has never shifted, she can't! Does that mean that she's not a dragon at all? She meets Roman at a speed dating event whilst she's on holiday. He lives in San Francisco with his mother, he's a shifter too but has only shifted once when he was ten.
They feel drawn to each other but Holly gives him the wrong phone number, so chances are they won't meet again but destiny has plans for them. Their story is well-written and has some surprises as they journey to their HEA. Roman's a sweet guy who just wanted Holly's happiness, I did enjoy this one.
Paired with The Dragon - This one is about Miriam who's mate turns out to be Felix a human. The story flows well and is well-written. Miriam met Felix whilst attending a psychology class where Felix’s employer had arranged for him to take the same class. They are immediately attracted to each other and spend a wonderful night together but then Miriam refuses to talk to him because she's convinced her soulmate will be a dragon, not a human.
The characters are well-drawn and the storyline is entertaining from beginning to end.
Taught by the Dragon - This was an enjoyable quick read which I just couldn't put down until I'd finished it. Stephen and Margot's story had a great feel to it. Stephen can't ignore his feelings for Margo but he never dreamed he'd be blessed with finding a second soul mate, he believed his life had ended when he lost his first mate.
Margot is drawn to Stephen but she just wonders if a dragon can have more than one soul mate? Do they have a chance at a life together?
I loved the characters and the story left me with a warm feeling.
There was a lot of regurgitation, repetition. I don’t need constant reminders of what’s going on. So that was really annoying. Great story but I had some issues like why it took 6 years for LISA & ALEX to have their first kid. It was bizarre and the first book and second book have 6 years in between them while every other book afterwards has approximately 6 months until last book 2 years. Was this real time how long it took for author to write the stories? Anyhow I really did not like, or “get” why dragons are clearly afraid of bears or wolf shifters. Seriously ?? They are freakin dragons and they are not small by any means either. Now if they got attacked by a pack if 20 or more sure .. but the dragons are really worried when they get surrounded by 3 of them. Sorry I’m just trying to see them in dragon form as big as a house. And see them being overrun by 3 or 5 wolves. Im sorry it makes no sense.. don’t care if they work together telepathically. A dragon that big can still make mincemeat out of 5 wolves let alone 3. They could do it blindfolded and injured. Let alone healthy and agile. This is a repeated them in every single book just about so.. it’s also a source of contention.
Love this series in it's entirety. This started the series off, then West Coast Water Dragons, finishing off with City of Dragons. I can not wait to read what happens there. It's a very intriguing world with great characters that have depth as well as great plots. This is a very well thought out series of books that inter-link communities of dragons with various shifters and humans. I LOVE THESE STORIES!!! Was reading them with my Kindle Unlimited, but loved them so much bought them all to re-read again and again. Highly, Highly recommend.
I absolutely loved reading this series of the Dragon Valley, I couldn't put my fire tablet down & my hubby said it's the quietest he's ever seen me! From the first book to the last one all the characters and storylines were great and exciting to read, you really get to know each one to the point of imagining yourself living there too. I would definitely recommend this series as a must read and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did, take care everyone.
I’ve spent the last three days lost in the worlds of Kayla Wolf’s dragons, and I’ve loved every moment. I highly recommend this series and, if I had to choose a favorite, I’d choose Stephen and Margot’s! (But don’t skip ahead please, the stories should be enjoyed in order)
This series was awesome and very interesting to read. Each book contained so much drama, suspense, and action. The passion between each couple was amazing. All the characters were exciting to read about. I especially like how all the characters were in each book in some form of way. Excellent reading and writing.
I had so much fun reading this series. Great characters, wonderful heroes and heroines. Villains you love to hate and most of all, everyone has true personal growth. Even the despicable characters. Such good reading.😁
Teaching Old dogs new tricks only in this case the dogs are dragons learning different ways to approach people flying into new lands learning how to love again and again what a wonderful set of books
I read the entire series as a box set and enjoyed all of the stories of the dragons living in this Colorado Valley. The romance was enticing and the action was great. Enjoyable all the way through!
This compilation of Dragon books was incredible. Each story similar but unique also. It was amazing to meet Noah from the Everglades dragons. Soul mates are truly amazing!
I won’t give any spoilers away. I will say this though; the end came way too soon. I need more. What about other residents? Did they find their soulmate? Do more babies get born? Give me more please.
I liked most of the stories, a I think there was 1 that just didn’t do it for me. Dragon stories are my favorite. Glad they are catching up with modern technology. Will be reading more from this author.
I love dragon shifters! This series has great story lines and interesting back stories. Wait...did I say the sex scenes were "interesting"? Not just interesting but HOT! Thanks, Kayla.
I really loved the stories about Dragon Valley, especially the story of Stephen and Margot. Reading their story triggered my memory to another book or series of books I read about the city of Volentis(sp?). Thank you for sharing your incredible stories.
