goals of his own—escape amid fire and blood. He wants revenge for the wrongs done to him and his captive
bio-engineered brothers and sisters, and he will have it. The plan is set. The fuse is lit. Nothing and no
one will stop him.

THERE’S JUST ONE PROBLEM, Tierney Jones with her clipboard, and her codes and her sexy black glasses, stands
right smack in his path to freedom. No one else has ever looked past the soldier of him and seen the man.

I inhaled this book!! The world building is top notch, the characters are multifaceted, the sexual angst is off the charts, and the overall story is intense!

A dystopian future where society is highly controlled, but they aren’t necessarily aware of the level of control. Years ago, twenty super-human soldiers were created in a lab using animal DNA. No, it’s not a shifter book. Our heroine, TJ is brought into the lab to write specific code to help ‘manage’ these soldier’s brains.

A few random thoughts I jotted down while reading:

The image of Romeo-Three and his ‘bonking’ the wall of his glass prison will stay in my brain forever.

I found it very interesting that Michael’s first name isn’t used (at least to my recollection) until half way into the story. I only knew him as 'Dr. Caruthers' in the beginning, then 'Michael Caruthers' in the middle, and finally only ‘Michael' at the end. Maybe that’s his journey with TJ, possibly as she sees him?

My only complaint is that I didn’t realize it is a bit of a cliffhanger. I seriously can’t wait for the next in the series. Write like the wind Imogen!!!

Outlaw de Imogen Keeper Serie City of a Thousand Lies libro 1

Argumento:

NO.

My Review

This one definitely had some interesting ideas it’s set in a dystopian future and this intriguing Sci-Fi quickly sucked me into the narrative. It's a mix of futuristic technology and romance and easily kept me turning the pages.
In this dystopian future, your either a citizen or an outlaw the government closely controls and monitors the populace and mutiny and rebellion is not tolerated. Outlaws also have no rights and can be killed on sight.

Tierney Jones is a coder her parents were high up in the government in fact her father was the founder of the Romeo-Foxtrot program a group of twenty super-soldiers created in the lab. When her mother dies and her father is declared an outlaw it’s up to Tierney to now take care of her sister this new job working for the government on a classified project to create code to assist in controlling the super-soldiers it's not something she wants to do but she has not been given much choice she needs the money and refusing is not really an option.

From the instant, she starts her new job Tierney is horrified at the treatment and lack of respect offered in the lab the longer she’s there the more her guilt intensifies. Romeo-three takes a particular shine to Tierney and as their feelings intensify the two bond sharing a unique connection that only draws them both closer.

The subject here was intriguing but it was quite slow-paced at times as well. I did Like both Tierney and Three and also believed in their emerging bond in fact I was quite taken with Three myself.
So I really enjoyed the first three-quarters of this one a lot but the last bit kind of went slightly downhill for me.
When everything here implodes dramatically not only did the fallout surprise me especially Three’s actions so did the actual aftermath.
I wasn’t struck on the finish with this one I mean Tierney swiftly changed gear going off in a completely unexpected direction it just didn’t feel authentic to me. This spoilt things slightly and my rating would have been higher without that last bit of input. Saying that I still recommend this and did enjoy it.

I should mention this is the first book in a trilogy so the story is yet to be concluded but I’m feeling a tad conflicted now mostly due to how we left things and Tierney’s bizarre behaviour I mean just why girl: then add in the time that has passed and Three still hasn’t shown back up well I’m slightly bummed about that.
Overall though This was Well written with a good premise also imaginative and it did manage to keep my attention just a shame about the finish.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of Outlaw: City Of A Thousand Lies #2.

An intelligent, well-thought out, heart-punching read! I LOVE this book and cannot wait for more!

Three is a super-soldier (a human enhanced with animal DNA increasing night vision, strength, speed, etc) born in a lab and recaptured. Teirney Jones is the brilliant programmer daughter of the scientists who created Three and his "siblings." She's offered (well, forced into) a job that will take away their will, and she has to accept the position so she can continue caring for her ailing sister while they still mourn the loss of their mother and their Outlaw-turned father.

The chemistry between Three and TJ burns bright from moment one. Three keeps surprising, strategic control of his long-game mission during his captivity, even while kept naked in a bulletproof cage. At first, the shift of his focus to TJ is a game, but it alters into so much more and creates an epic beginning to the trilogy.

Outlaw isn't a stand-alone happy ever after; it's going to be a long road for Three and TJ's HEA, but I'm utterly invested in this journey.

If you enjoy captive but intelligent characters, sci-fi romance, alpha men, amazing side characters, long-haul mysteries, and exceptional, bold character voice, pick up Outlaw immediately.

I usually wait for an entire series to be completed before starting it to save myself from the torture of having to wait for the next book but damn it the blurb of this book made me lose my self control and here I'm in a position I promised to never to put myself in. THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO READ THE NEXT ONE. I just hope I don't die out of anticipation.

Just go with it--this is a dark, sexy ride that's intelligent and well-written. Love the smart heroine, and the captivity angle is nicely done--it never feels gratuitous. There's great depth to the characters--are the good guys who you think they are? It's riveting.

What a girl wants

In Outlaw, Immy Keeper takes the tale of the bio-engineered super soldier and his reluctant torturer to incredibly dark, stormy, heights of pheromone-soaked sexual tension, then traps it in the depths of horror, fear, and helplessness, only to produce the paradoxical HEA which gives the heroine everything she thinks she wants, BUT... Alone in the world after the loss her parents and her sister's descent into dementia, Tierney has her top coding chops to keep herself economically afloat - but working for IdentityCorps in their top secret lab is more akin to being co-opted into the hierarchy of hell. This dystopian future is a world of chemically-mediated mind control, and any who refuse their "vitamins" find themselves "Outlawed" and then dead. Her task is to develop the micro-chip implanted in her genetically engineered captives to the level of total mind control, and she is too intelligent to ignore the obvious end-goal: iron clad government control of the country's human population. Her unanticipated empathy and humanity throws a huge money wrench into the pipeworks, as does the growing motional bond she forms with one of her (Surprise!) unexpectedly human test subjects. The tense atmosphere of growing suspicion and fear of discovery beats a drum of doom beneath the sexy love story. Tierney's determination to keep herself and her sister safe from the government that destroyed her family appears as impossible as a future with the man she has come to love. The HEA ending one expects from romance novels materializes as a stunning mockery, a bucket of ice water to terminate Tierney's dreams. This is a novel that kept me on tenterhooks, kept me reading, gasping, hoping - and left me with "NO! That can't be..." I'm completely addicted already to this mind-blowing new series. If the author doesn't soon release the next book I may go bonkers. This is a voluntary ARC review

I loved this book. I couldn't seem to put this down. I loved the whole setting and storyline in this book-it was just so interesting and exciting to me. I also enjoyed the interplay between Tierney and Three and how they both have their own struggles in this new world. In a futuristic world, we follow Tierney as she starts a new job coding at the government facilities and meet the Sierras, one of whom is Romeo 3. I would totally watch this as a tv series. Can't wait for book 2.

Wow! It’s like Blade Runner meets Matrix but sexier!

This was an incredible read! From the very beginning the author wrapped me around this story. Three is sexy on steroids and Tierney is whip smart. What a crazy ride with a philosophical question, if you stand by and watch are you a villain too?
Can’t wait for more of this series!

Imogen Keeper has done it again, creating a unique and fresh story with main and supporting characters I can’t help but to love (and hate, as certain situations warrant).

The opening scene pulled me in and refused to let me until the very last page. Actually, not even then. Book 2 isn’t out yet, you know.

I cannot recommend this book enough. If you like angst, self-sacrifice, flirty banter, and violence, I can almost guarantee you won’t regret reading Outlaw.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion. I loved this book. The concept was so refreshing and unique and it was well written. It captured my attention from page one and held it until 4am when I finished it in one sitting. If you like NSFW romance, sci-fi, and dystopian societies then this book is for you. I was one of the lucky ones(amongst some others) to receive an ARC from the Author herself, thank you Imogen Keeper!

I don't read much dystopian romance-not because i don't like it- it's just one of those things that i don't go out of my way for. BUT, Imogen's book has changed that. I am a girl obsessed! Not only did the superb writing grasp me from the first page but the damn enigmas implied from the get go kept me swiping page after page just to be immersed in enigma after enigma. I can't wait for book 2 and 3. I want to know everything. I want every single evil person dragged out into the light i want to read about their kneecaps getting speared( Sev, really made me flinch at that), limbs getting mangled, i want comeuppance galore! But most of all i want TJ and Three to get thier happily ever after. I want the foxtrots and Sierras to have their well deserved FREEDOM and peace and happiness. If any of you reading this are into dystopian novels, please give Outlaw a read you won't regret it.

Thank you to the author for submitting this book for review!

Wow, what a ride. It turned out to be an unexpected binge despite a few questions and qualms and now I'm tapping my foot waiting on the sequel lol. I don't know how I feel about this book's ending to be honest, but up until that point I admit it kept me interested and I hope to find out more in the next book. Definitely a good book to pick up if you enjoy futuristic dystopias, mad scientists, evil corporations, and romance all rolled into one non-stop page-turner of a story. It will definitely leave you demanding book two, that's for sure.

Holy freaking hot. Imogen is one of my favorite authors because of her boldness that hits all the right spots. I'm often left thinking 'she did not'... and she totally did. My only option is to keep turning the pages.
Three is rough and abrasive in all the sexy ways, and I love so much how Tierney changes everything for him. The chemistry between the two is addictive and the world building was fantastic. I can't wait to read the next one!

I was super lucky to interview Immogen for the release of this book. She was a blast to chat with!

The first book in a trilogy by an author I’ve not read before.
And I was hooked, drawn into a dystopian world that was pretty hard to leave!
Sci-fi isn’t usual my thing, but I was intrigued with the description and thought I’d give it a go…..

Romeo is a soldier with enhancements, his unit all have bio parts, they are deemed dangerous, known as Outlaws and killers.
But when one of their family is taken, they will stop at nothing to bring them home. Even if it means sacrificing their freedom…..

Tierney has hidden under the radar with her sick sister for what seems like forever. Her parents were taken from them, their mother died and it tore the family apart, but when her father had been labelled an “Outlaw” and was killed, Tierney and her sister knew they needed to hide!
But you can only hide from “The Government” for so long. And when they find Tierney, they make her an offer she can’t refuse!
She is to implant nanotechnology into the brains of the citizens! Controlling everyone for their own good!
Sounds a little like mind control to me, they want robots not citizens!

Tierney and Romeo are forced together, he’s going to be her test subject, she’s going to experiment on his brain and monitor his reactions!
But the more time she spends with her “subject”, the more she sees him, and the harder it is to do the government’s directive!
He isn’t an animal! He’s got a right to think for himself!
She’s connecting to him on all levels, he makes her dream and want more. But wanting leads to disappointment, and the fear of losing her sister makes Tierney wary….

I liked the characters, Tierney was such a resourceful woman. Smart and dedicated to her sister, a genius I’m her own tight.
Romeo had that oh so dangerous vibe. His attitude might have sucked, but he gave a damn about his “family”.
Secondary characters were a great support to the story. Loved his family of misfits, liked that they could communicate without others knowing.
It flowed pretty well and at a relatively good pace.
We did stumble a few times, but I don’t think it took away from the story.

I could see this as a tv series, I’d sit and watch it every week. It has a great story that was pretty easy to follow.

It’s a violent and bloody read. It’s a book full of sorrow and despair! And the stories that are told are sad and filled with a hopelessness that you know some won’t overcome.

So how can Tierney and three escape the government?
Can she save her sister? Is she the answer to the the outlaws problem? And what will the facility do to keep her working on the project?

Not sure if you could call the ending a cliffhanger! But it did end rather abruptly! So I’m hoping we get a little more in book 2.

But I’m definitely interested in reading and recommending this series.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review.

Outlaw is not the first book I’ve read by Imogen Keeper and like all of her books, it was remarkably original and sexy!!

This book its pretty much a starter book in the series, meant to introduce you to characters and develop a connection with them, as well as familiarise the reader with this dystopian world.

It was fast paced and I was intrigued from the beginning. The author did an amazing job with the world building and the characters were all so interesting, i'm very curious about the different dynamics between the Foxtrots and the Romeos.

Outlaw ends when things actually start getting interesting and I can't wait to pick up the next book! If you love sci fi romance with a lot of angst and sexy times this book its for you!!

City of a Thousand Lies is wholly accurate. Just what is the reason behind the creation of the Sierras? Why are the secrets so deep that it takes total immersion to just begin the process of understanding? How will the Outlaws remain free when government is so encompassing? TJ and Three are both caught in a web of their own design. Her goal of staying under the radar is only derailed by his more obvious taunts and teases. His reasons for being captured are only underscored by the emotion that stirs when she takes over the lab. Just how deadly will the reality become? I LOVE this book so much I'm ready to read it again and cannot wait for more in the series!

This Keeper book is a keeper!

Holy heck. Where do I start? Imogen has the most entrancing way with story telling. From the very start of this novel I was sucked in and I thought I wouldn’t be. Future dystopian novels aren’t really my thing, but this one is a poetic gem. Can’t get enough of Three and TJ. This story is haunting and I have to quit reviewing right now so I can find the second book.

In this dystopian future, everyone has a chip and everyone lives in constant fear of being outlawed. Outlaws are killed on sight, the government and an evil corporation keeps the population under control using any means necessary including computer chips inserted into the brain at birth, mood altering drugs, threats against loved ones and violence.

In this horrifying future, Tierney is coerced into using her intelligence and coding skills to produce a method of mind control to be used on manufactured super soldiers. She has lost her parents, her sister is mentally damaged and she has pushed herself into poverty to try to maintain the threads of her old life. She is clearly a woman on the edge, willing to do what she must to survive.

The implications of her technology, however are far-reaching and terrifying. Meeting the super soldiers for the first time, she is unaccountably attracted to Romeo Three, one of the biggest, scariest men she has ever seen. As Tierney is forced to develop the technology, Three becomes her volunteer specimen. Devastated by the pain she is forced to cause, Tierney can't see a way out. Not if she wants to protect herself and her mentally unstable sister.

Surrounded by duplicitous people, all hiding their true agendas, and feeling empathy for the embattled and imprisoned soldiers, Tierney is at her wit's end. She'll have to make some difficult decisions - do what is right, or stick with what is safe.

Three is a true alpha - strong, possessive, somewhat feral and yet caring. He is convinced Tierney is his and he will do what he must to not only win her over, but protect her. Tierney is a tortured young woman, just trying to do her best. The heat between them is intense, although a true relationship can never be.

This story is action-packed. It paints a disturbing image of a potential future in which the state is in charge and the citizenry are terrified to step out of line. Filled with lots of shady characters, it's not clear who is truly good and who may be evil, as everyone lies to protect themselves and those they care for. Filled with twists, this was an immersive dystopian romance read. My only criticism is that the Three/Tierney relationship remained unresolved at the end of the story. Their intense bond and Three's promises just seemed to dissolve into thin air. I am hoping the next book in the series will see these two reunited.

This is an honest, voluntary review of an ARC of the story.

Different read, fun characters, changes at halftime

I love this author and am anxiously awaiting the next book in her apocalyptic series, Broken. That surprised me a bit because though it was clear who the main characters were going to be, the first (fairly short) book was mostly dedicated to another character who it was hard not to care for. But I knew
his fate and was already on board with the ultimate main guy.

I’m a bit afraid that might be happening here and not so sure I’ll be happy. The first book is much longer and even the title devotes to Romeo-3, “Outlaw” in this society. I have to admit I was worried through the first half, mainly because it wasn’t my style of book. It was more lust, dirty language, lust, sexual references constantly, did I say lust? I had a hard time relating to the characters or liking them much. But BOOM, second half Imogen brings us her reasons for developing like this, shows you what the characters are really like and how much they care for not just each other but other people, and the story develops. In a way I think she’s pleasing two audiences - those who like dirty romances and those who want more depth. My daughters would love the first part and be hooked enough to keep reading. If I hadn’t already read and loved her other series I’m not sure I would’ve kept on for the payoff. But I’m glad I did.

I will say I wasn’t happy with Romeo at the ending, and I’m not a fan of Michael. If you read The Curse Keepers series and were unhappy because the author had the heroine end up with someone who wasn’t her soulmate (and came in later, was kind of boring but nice enough), you'll understand my fear.

Keeper describes her heroes perfectly, very alpha, perfectly enjoyable. Love these guys in a Thor way. And if you like your romance a bit got and dirty, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy!

Outlaw is book one in Imogen Keeper’s new City of a Thousand Lies trilogy. This book is in Dual POV and it does end in a cliffhanger.
I could not put this book down! It was such an interesting and attention holding story. The world building is incredible (and slightly terrifying if I’m honest) Tierney is a great female lead. She is an intelligent scientist who goes with the flow and never questions anything, even when her family implodes. Until she ends up working for IdentityCorps and meets Romeo-Three: a bioengineered Super Soldier who is marked as “Outlaw” and a traitor. Watching Tierney’s character development and seeing her begin to question everything really makes for a thought provoking journey. Three and his story is heartbreaking. As something who was created for war and and blind allegiance to the government, he’s not supposed to feel. The love and loyalty Three and his siblings have for each other is overwhelmingly beautiful. Seeing what they are put through is gut wrenching. The slow build, angsty, almost enemies to lovers feel that TJ and Three have is so organic. The chemistry between them is OMG hot! We learn nothing is what it seems, everything we know is probably a lie and Big Brother is ALWAYS watching! The book has a very Blade Runner meets Hunger Games vibe and I’m here for it. I can’t wait to see what’s next for TJ and Three’s story.
ARC graciously given by the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Smart, sexy, gritty characters.
This book has intense, larger than life characters, characters that practically jump off the pages. I was completely absorbed into this world of deception and betrayal. They want freedom, she wants freedom.

This story flows so well, with witty and engaging writing that will keep you hooked to the end. Packed with intrigue, drama and explosive passion.
I am captivated and enthralled and totally in love with these characters.
The author creates characters to cheer for, to hope for and a story that is thought-provoking right from the start and develops steadily into a good quality read.

Outstanding in-depth details, in the setting, the characters and the plot, which was very good. The plot is mainly set in the prison where Tierney is working for the government. She is a great heroine, a bit naive, she struggles with the environment she was raised in but also knowing things are not right. Not sure who to trust she has a fine line to walk trying to keep everyone safe.

Interesting, intriguing, and sexy gritty characters, you feel for them and their plight. Our Hero, Romeo-three, beneath his rough and ready exterior, is a man that wants right and fairness and Tierney in his life.

This is a multiple book story, and I cannot wait for the second book to see what happens next.

I voluntarily read an arc of this book and am leaving an honest review. This was at once terrifying and addictive. I couldn’t put it down, I read late into the night and got up first thing to keep reading. It’s intense and masterful in the character and world building. Every situation is fraught with danger and intrigue. The writing is absolutely brilliant and I need more of these books or really anything from this author. I haven’t really read many dystopian romance novels but if Imogen Keeper writes more, I WILL read them. I’m absolutely shell shocked after finishing this book! I had to read for a bit and put it down just to keep my sanity and to breathe, the situations were so freaking awesome! The love story, the fear of the government, the lies and secrets?! All combined to make one of the literal best books I’ve ever read! Read it as soon as you can, you will be amazed. But maybe like set aside some me time when you finish it, you’ll need a little down time to recover lol so so good, seriously!

I found this book a fast paced and interesting read. Interesting and scary concept that the government monitors all of its citizens - drugs them with “vitamins” – and now wants to add mind control to the nanochips already installed in their brains. The relationship between Tierney Jones and Romeo three, one of twenty bio-engineered super soldiers (now imprisoned so that they can be experimented on) grows as she starts to question everything she’s been taught or told as she was growing up. In the end the soldiers escape and she is left behind to pick up the pieces of her life. Can’t wait to read book two! Hoping to find out what happened to Romeo Three & the rest of the group – hoping for a HEA for Tierny & Romeo Three.

I really liked this story with its mix of dystopian, dash of scifi, and the rest full of crazy characters that caught my attention from the first chapter and kept me reading to the end to see what would happen next. What was the main plan and did it do off the rails and change once new characters were introduced. The twist and secrets uncovered by the main hero or is it the heroine (you read and decide who is the main character) were cool and kept me guessing. While the future is wild as portrayed here it was a good, entertaining, and a bit dark story that I enjoyed.

Trust Ms. Keeper to write something unique and gripping!

From the very first chapter I was drawn in. Asking questions throughout the read. What the heck is going on.

Tierney is doing what she can to keep herself and her sister safe! Programming for mind-control; this can't be good for the world!

Is love really possible? Perhaps, perhaps not!

Shocking ending!

This could be a screenplay for a made for TV movie "series."

Can't wait to read the next in series! I'm now emotionally charged and ready to conquer this world!

What amazing story and beginning to a series. A group of engineered super soldiers has been captured and are being experimented on. Tierney Jones is the doctor who was hired, under duress, to create a device to take away the soldiers free will. The world the author creates is fascinating!! Its hard to know who is good and who is bad. There are so may secrets and dark undertones. And yes, a very steamy scene! I couldnt put this book down!! I cant wait for the next one in the series to come out!!!
