An idyllic Caribbean island. An exclusive resort. A deceptive façade.
While on holiday in Little Cayman, dive boat operator AJ Bailey expects a peaceful getaway. Nothing sounds better than uniquely-aged rum, crystal-clear water, and world-class diving.
But, beneath the surface, the Bloody Bay Rum Club is hiding a dangerous secret, and when AJ uncovers the truth, things turn deadly.

Current last book in the series. All stories remind me of the dives I 've enjoyed in the Caribbean. Any diver will enjoy the descriptions of the undersea world, and the technical aspect of diving. Since my diving days are in the past, this tome gives me many fond memories.
Another exciting Caribbean adventure for AJ, the feisty dive-charter owner of Mermaid Divers, her friends and co-workers, get enmeshed in a covert organised crime operation on Little Cayman, under cover of an exclusively-produced rum, while on a much-needed vacation. Mads, the eponymous club manager falls for Conner, the catamaran's Captain and is glad he survives and leaves Castillo, his boss's employ, when the latter is extradited and incarcerated. Meanwhile, when all's well that ends well, AJ and her lover Jackson come to an agreement about their future together. My favorite dive adventure heroine is back! What a fun trip to Little Cayman with a dash of drug smuggling and money laundering thrown in!! Once again, I found myself learning something new about the Cayman Islands - this time about Seven Fathoms Rum and the unique way the distillery ages the product {underwater}!!! Bravo, Nicholas Harvey!
This is one of the best series I have ever read. I just love the characters, and the storylines, and the imagination of this author!! It’s an exciting and thrilling adventure where one thing happens right after the other and the action just keeps on going! You would think after 10 books in a series that it would probably be boring by now but wow!!! each book just keeps getting better and better! The author doesn’t just write an adventure story he develops the characters and gives them depth. And the reader becomes interested in what’s going on and who these people are becoming and what they’re going to do in the future. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it’s to never let somebody go off by themselves!!
More fun and adventure in the caribbean. During a time when the islands are mostly closed to tourism this book is so welcome. it is well researched and loads of fun. A great read.
One of my favorite things about a long series like this is the predictability of the characters. Now, that being said every one of these books has been completely unpredictable. I can’t explain to you how well Nicholas Harvey can craft stories that jump off of the page but also feel incredibly realistic.
I think it’s funny that in both series that I read regularly from Harvey, each character seems to get into issues that when they’re happening even they can’t believe what’s going on. And once things start to settle or the bad guys are brought to justice the main character always seems to have a joke about how the cops or detectives are going to be upset that they seem to always be in the middle of what’s going on.
In Bloody Bay Rum Club it seems like the characters are just out on a vacation and enjoying a nice distillery, hotel, and restaurant. But as with most of the AJ Bailey series things are not what they seem on the surface, you’ve gotta dive down to find the good stuff. The group stumbles across a much deeper and darker secret throughout this one and it was a blast from beginning to end.
I think that my favorite part about Nicholas Harvey’s books is that no matter what happens or where it goes I always have fun reading them. When you add in the excellent narration by Kim Bretton You’ve got a great story performed by a great narrator that I couldn’t put down.
10 books into the AJ Bailey series and Harvey is not slowing down. Each one of these books has something unique in it. And each one brings a kind of joy that I didn’t expect going into them. If you enjoy a good thriller any book in the series will give you that and more.
A refreshing change from the usual 7-Mile Beach backdrop normally found in the A.J. Bailey series (not that I don't love 7-Mile Beach, but I love that Harvey's mixing it up). Really enjoyed the whole story line ... taking things off island made for some great new angles and I loved reading about this unique way for aging this special rum - very cool! Awesome twists and turns and guess work down to the end .. bravo .. another great read - bring on the next!
Its a never ending adventure when all the rivers get together for a weekend of fun good food as pearl gets them to a resort while she performs for the resort crowd an and reg and crew embark on a great adventure ..ciao from a wet Costa Rica from Bobbie and George puts vida....
A great use of location description, character development, made this one a page turner for me. Of all the AJ Bailey books, thus far this one is my favorite, and that is saying alot because I've enjoyed them all. Now... to get my hands on some of that RUM!
Not sure how Mr. Harvey does it but he continues to churn out an always entertaining, fun and rollicking adventure series at a great pace. I hope he doesn’t slow down any time soon!
Man, I love these books. I read a LOT of tropical books. Most have some diving (I am a former diver). For some reason Nick's books make me feel as though I am really there ... On the dive! Awesome!K
I love the A.J. Bailey Adventure series as a scuba diver and an author. I enjoy the way he weaves together a historical story with a present day story.
I really enjoyed this book. The characters were great. And it was extra fun as we’d just visited the distillery where Seven Fathoms Rum is made. I’d definitely check out more of these stories.
Another good AJ Bailey adventure. I learned more about rum and catamarans than I wished. Different location than most of AL'S adventures, but a good read.
