Warden Global #4

Storm Fall: Nine Realms Saga

Rate this book
Considering the last few years, Viktor Warden should be prepared for a murderous ex-wife, body-snatching, and fighting tooth and nail with some of the most evil, gruesome foes the world has ever seen. Looks like that might have just been the warm-up. As the world reels in the wake of a pandemic, ghosts from his past rise out of the Aether to extract their pound of flesh whether he’s willing to pay or not. In his search to stay above ground, he’ll need to fend off cultists, the Blighted—vampires changed by the Gaia contagion--and the Black Circle, all at once. To further complicate matters, he’s on a tight schedule. Xiwangmu has picked now, of all times, to fulfill her end of an ancient bargain. And she isn’t willing to take no for an answer. So, no pressure or anything.

About the author

Ken Lange

Ken Lange is a current resident of the 'Big Easy', along with his partner and evil yet loving cats. Any delay, typo or missed edit can and will be blamed on the latter's interference.

He arrived at this career a little later in life and his work reflects it. Most of his characters won't be in their twenties and they aren't always warm and fuzzy. He is of the opinion, that middle aged adults are woefully underrepresented in fiction and has made it his mission to plug that gap.

Translation, he's middle aged and crotchety.

Confusing

I’ve read and adored all the books in this series. But this one I became a bit lost. In the beginning I didn’t have a clue as to what was going on. I even went back to the last novel and still couldn’t make out what was happening.

The characters are all back in their fighting glory. I did enjoy this novel as well as the series, but in my humble opinion, the story line is getting out of hand. Too many new characters with too many questions as to why they appeared and what they’re doing.

Still, once past the beginning, we had familiar characters appear. Some had just a line or two. And the plot has a few holes I thought. One of the unresolved questions surrounds a box sent by a goddess. As the story progressed, I thought the box would be addressed. Near the end it was when Viktor touched it, but then nothing. Even when the goddess appeared I thought the box would be involved, but nothing, nada, not opened or anything. I guess we’ll have to wait until the next novel in this series.

Viktor is a great character, but why he doesn’t enlist help when he goes out wandering, I just don’t understand. Why have all these other powerful characters appear when he doesn’t enlist or utilize their help. Sure he’s all powerful, but then he gets his ass kicked when he does it alone. If he had his powerful friends help, it make more sense.

Would I recommend this novel? Yes, with some misgivings. I do suggest you read the many novels before this one. That might help. Still, I found it a bit confusing.

Well, I’ll wait until the next one. Hopefully the author will fill all the plot holes, and complete the story. Until then, I’ll reread all the prior novels in the hope I can understand this one fully.

This is the fourth book in the Viktor Warden Book Series

This was another amazing read from this Author there is so much action going on it's almost manic . Also there are so many different factions that it's becoming hard to keep them straight . And poor Justine my heart just broke for her and her parents but this urn that was made especially for her kind of gives me the creeps . I feel like it has a purpose that may not be good we'll just have to wait and see . And what's up with Viktor's baby mom's like really he's got grown kid's just poppin up all over the place . Anywho looking forward to the next book in Cain's series can't wait .

I've been waiting two years for this book! lol Viktor is one of my favorite characters in Ken Lange's Nine Realms Saga. Each series is fantastic, but I think the Warden Global series is my favorite. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the author to keep all these different series separate, but interconnected. Another great book and I'm looking forward to the next, whichever series it is. And as always, great narration by Andrew Pond.

Disappointed

I have read everything by this author and really like him, but the first 3rd of this book was confusing. I didn’t know who was who.

And the ending was disappointing. Wow, all of that nothing was accomplished...
