KARMA refers to the totality of an individual’s deeds – good and bad – in their past, present, and future life. These actions, therefore, determine one’s fate...
Jahmiyl better known as Jah has had a clean break from street life for nearly a decade. Once a well-known dope boy husting the streets of Chicago's South Side, an uneventful night of murder forces him to reconsider street life.
Ten years out of the game, Jah starts having recurring nightmares, recounting that night that he and his partner-in-crime, his twin brother, committed some atrocious acts. And while he seems to be living a normal life now, he hopes that the ghosts from his past don’t pay him a visit. However, Jah will soon realize karma possesses an infinite number of ways of manifesting.
First, he encounters petty drama from a past romantic interest at his job which leads to him getting fired. Then his brother, Luqman, or Luq, is released early from prison, but under unclear circumstances. Although Jah loves his brother and wants the best for him, Jah knows that Luq’s energy is not in the right place and he fears his brother will return to the streets, possibly pulling him right back into the midst of madness.
After Jah is forced to quickly find a new job, a good friend, Mark, who too used to be deep in the streets, offers Jah the possibility to partner up to make some quick, fast money. Jah is reluctant and opts to get another “normal” job. Meanwhile, Jah is starting college classes and meets Bree, someone who catches the fancy of his eye.
But just when Jah seems to be staying afloat, he eventually finds himself ensnared in another round of work-related drama. He’s fired again and now his back is up against the wall. Feeling under pressure, Jah gives in to the temptation of making easy money with Mark. This decision though he may end up regretting.
While Jah has a plan to “get in and get out”, he quickly finds himself caught up in beef that almost costs him his life. And now that he knows there’s a target on his back, he’s compelled to seek out those who tried to get at him. But in his mission of revenge, Jah will soon realize that there is a heavy price to pay for retribution. And that’s because karma isn’t done with him yet…

What a suspenseful read that will keep you on the edge of your seat. An absolute cliffhanger. I'm ready for the conclusion. My heart was beating for Jah. Seemed like everything that surrounds him just crumbles well with the exception of his twin brother. I'm anxious to find up who is behind all of Jah's downward spiral. My guess would be... Hmmmm....well I guess I just have to wait
This is my first read from Quan Millz. I've had this book for a moment and thought I would give it a read in order to move on to the next book. This was a okay story nothing to quite brag about as yet. So much is going on and I still want to visualize how this author is going to end this story. I would like to read the next book to see what happens.
Man I'm ready for part too Jah is wiling something not adding up can't wait to see who really out to get him I bet it's his own brother I read whole book in a day and half on my lunch break at work and at home that good!!
I just knew halfway through, there would be a part two. The way things just kept getting worse for Jah in the most unfortunate ways possible…Can’t wait for part 2!
