I’d been with plenty of women… but none of them captured my heart like she did with those jewel-green eyes.
Gigi Mans.
The woman who owns this rancher in the palm of her hands. She had me at hello. Her smile showed me a possibility for a future that I didn’t think existed. As an introverted cowboy and an heir to a massive fortune, I hadn’t given much thought to my love life until she came along. But she also brought with her complications. Her mother was opposed to us. She hated the very sight of me. And if that wasn’t enough… Gigi was hiding behind a secret. One that would inevitably change our lives.
I couldn’t win her heart if she was going to keep it from me… Could these external forces be more powerful than our love for each other?
This is Danny and Gigi's story and it's an emotional one. She captured his heart the minute he looked into her bright green eyes. She kept him mesmerized and he wanted her to be his. Roadblocks kept getting in the way. Her mother hated him and she had secrets she wouldn't share. This is the first book in the Downton Cowboys Series and is a great start to the series. The book is well written and intense. The characters definitely have chemistry but the secrets stand in the way of an HEA. Soes Gigi come clean about her past and expose her secret? Do they manage to have a happy ever after? The characters are well developed and interesting. I read a free arc via Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
It is said that while an individual can choose his friends, he can’t choose his family. Danny Downton, a 33-year-old dark-haired, dark-eyed, handsome cowboy, landowner, business man, and community leader, is a man who could certainly attest to the truth of that assertion. A city boy by birth, but never by nature, Danny grew up with an abusive father and a battered mother. He and his three brothers learned how to read their father’s moods as a survival skill, until at a young age he had had enough, and he left.
But Danny would deny that he was a “runaway.” Danny was a “run to.” He had left the city to find the place where he was intended to live, learn and grow. And, he found that place on the ranch of a man who had embodied all the qualities that Danny sought, but could never find in his own father. He found a man of kindness, love, and generosity—a man who was willing to take in a young teenager who was wild and lacked a vision of who he could become. Now, some 18 years later, Danny had a new vision of what it meant to be a man. He had become a man who knew that anything he shared with another—money, time, kindness, a second or even third chance—would always be returned when that individual learned to be open to the needs of someone else in need.
Now, Danny is a leader in his community, loved and admired by all. But, Danny knows that he is not perfect. He has made mistakes. One of his mistakes was that in his past, he had accepted the attentions of women without investing himself in relationships with them. While he has always been generous and open with his possessions, but he has not been generous and open with his heart. So, now at 33, he looks longingly—jealously—at the young couple who run his dairy and who are anticipating the birth of their first child. Danny wants a woman who will live, love and grow a family with him.
So, when a beautiful, young green-eyed auburn-haired Gigi Mans appears at his door asking for help, he feels like he now has a vision of his future. Gigi had travelled to the town located near the Downton ranch to acquire supplies for her family. But, she has found the local hotel, where she was to stay, closed, and was directed to go to Downton Ranch where she would find assistance. And when Danny sees the young beauty, he decides that he will give her everything she needs—supplies, a place to stay, food to eat—and his heart. And, Gigi has something to share with him—her joy of life, her love of reading and writing, and a broken relationship which has left her with a bruised heart and a secret baby nestled close by that bruised heart.
Miley Maine delivers a different romantic tale which tangles threads of perceived insults from the past into the present. The tale offers an engaging story, with passionate moments. However, the growing love of Danny and Gigi is too long threatened with unsettling and potentially hurtful family influences. The author offers the reader a story that doesn’t fully provide a logical resolution of the characters’ past and present as family tensions continue to exist as the story closes.

Usually try to stick it out but this one just wasn't working for me. Made it to 30% and had to call it quits...
It also really didn't help the story that Gigi only had two general responses: giggling/twittering or clamping up and running away. She sounded way to immature at times which for this particular scenario, didn't jive.
Danny was a good character, if a little too good to be true. Made it a lot easier to roll my eyes at him than admire him.
Wish I could have been more engrossed in the story but this is as far as I can go.

I’ve read many of Miley’s books and I usually enjoy them but this one didn’t excite me. I was bored fir the first half then it got interesting but also frustrating. I loved Danny. He was dam near perfect for putting up with mother-in-law’s and Gigi’s disrespect behavior. The reason why I said Gigi was disrespectful is be she repeatedly allowed her mother so insult her husband and didn’t insist that her mother leave their home. Gigi was classic passive aggressive when it came to her mother’s behavior. She would get upset with her mother but allowed the behavior to continue for years. Ex one one occasion she told her mother to get out and don’t come back yet the next day her parents show up for breakfast. What the hell! Gigi also refused to tell her ex that Billy was his child yet on several occasions she stated that he wasn’t a bad person and she broke up with him because she was bored. Boredom is not an excuse to kept a father from his child again What the hell!! I did not like her at all. The story was ok but it jumped timelines a lot. Until next time y’all happy reading.
Danny by Miley Maine is an interesting, intriguing, steamy with a roller coaster ride of emotion and surprises..a romance story of Danny and Gigi..Danny is a rancher, and a cowboy with a big heart, grew up poor and with an abusive father.. Gigi is lost, came out from an toxic relationship and a manipulative and demanding mother..when Gigi went out to the other town for their order and found out that their order is not good and point her to another to get all she didnt hesitate and found herself staying to the ranch for a couple of days and fell inlove to the owner but couldnt decide what to do because when he found out what shes keeping she didnt know for sure if he will accepted her after that..but Danny accepted her even her unborn child but her mother is the one who cant accept the man she choose because of the fast that his parents done for her..will Gigi let her mother influence her? Is love enough for them to win from all the negativity surrounds them?

Oh, the heat is HOT, and the physical chemistry is captivating so be careful you may just get burned all the heat coming off these pages. There were some "oh no" "oh wow" " what the what" moments and add in uncanny mishaps, and shenanigans the good kind that makes you keep turning the pages till last page has been turned. Danny left home due to an abusive father and found a man who took him in, treated him like his own son, upon passing he left everything to Danny. One night Gigi knocks on his door instantly he knows she is his, but she comes with baggage a really terrible, abusive mother and father although, not sure why Danny left home because of the abusiveness just to allow it in with her mother. Four years later Danny has had enough but will the secrets she is keeping from him be the end for these two or will she allow her mother to continue to put a wedge between her and her husband, can there be a HEA?
Where do I even begin with this. It was just...what???!!! Rita was rotten to the core with her malicious behavior and should have been locked in the cellar 23 hours a day!!! Danny deserves an award for putting up with that woman and Gigi should have had a bigger backbone to take up for her man who took her in when she needed him. How Russ put up with her for that long?? She definitely wouldn't have been staying at MY estate for 4 years...4 minutes and she would have been on her way back to where she came from...just evil!! My OCD was all over the place with them not washing their hands, especially when messing with food...YUCK!! And if I never see the word 'titter' again, I would be A-OK! I rated it a 4 because the writing was good but the storyline was team too much. Maybe Jake's story will redeem this series...

Danny left his parents house of the age of 15, leaving his abusive father behind. Finally meeting up with a man who took him, treated him like his own son. When he passed away Danny inherited everything. He lived a solidarity life, until a knock on his door stop changed his life for the good. Gigi and Danny fell hopelessly in love and got married within the short time they knew each. Gigi's mom Rita and dad Russ came to live with them and the whole time Rita lashed her tongue at Danny at every possible moment. Years it went on with Danny having enough of it Gigi agreed it was time for Rita and Russ to leave and live in town. Even moving into a hotel suite Rita was just as nasty. Danny now had his house peaceful once again and savored every moment.

Not your usual “cowboy" story Danny left “home” at 15 and never looked back. He found a “home" working on a ranch that the owner left to him when he died. Generous to the people that worked for him and everyone he came into contact with. When he and Gigi got together it was evident to each of them that they were with the right person. Although pregnant she is running from her past, he accepts her and her child as his. Enter her mother (a real shrew) and father (a really nice guy) who wants her to go back to the louse that she was with before. They have a lot against them; however, they know what they want and what will make them happy, and that’s each other. Good characters and story in this enjoyable read. An enjoyable story about two wonderful people and a nasty woman. Danny is a wealthy and successful rancher who is looking for someone to share it with and have a family. Gigi wanders into his life by accident, but it doesn’t take long for them to fall in love – despite the fact she is pregnant with another man’s child. The story spans several years – meeting, falling in love, marrying, and developing a life together as their young son grows up. However, the thorn in the ointment is Gigi’s mother, Rita, who is vicious and nasty, and hates Danny despite the fact that he is a wonderful and generous person, as well as a good husband and father. The story goes through several painful episodes triggered by Rita, but in the end, things work out. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The book starts nice and slow and then really makes haste. It started with them meeting at his ranch and her staying for a few days, that got extended. He falls fast for her, but with the secret she has and his declaration of love, he scares her away. The book then skills several weeks till they meet again. Then it skips months and then we're 4 years further into the story.
I absolutely love Danny and every woman can only dream of a guy like that. He's sweet, caring, can cook and he adores her and even put up with his witch of an mother in law. Although I don't know why on earth would you let your mother treat your husband the way he is treated and don't do anything about it.
I loved the overall feelgood book and can't wait to learn more about the boys

After having a mother-n-law just like this one, I can tell you how hard it is to live or be around someone like this that just wants to rip your happiness out of you. It also shows how being raised by someone like that doesn't have to define you but can and should make you stronger and more willing to be able to show your love for everything in a way that is healing for you. To find a life parter that was raised as horribly or worse than you were but has also experienced love, dedication and been taught the strength to show others through humility and the determination that gives to others so that they may posper as well. It's a good book. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Modern day western romance Danny (Downton Cowboys Book 1) by Miley Maine a little like a historical western romance in modern times. There’s a feel to Danny and Gigi’s story is a little old-timey but with all the modern conveniences. It takes nothing away from the story, but in my opinion a nice contrasting element. The plot is fairly straightforward with a clear antagonist. It was frustrating how both Danny and Gigi put up with the hysterics, drama, rudeness and downright disrespect. Overall, these characters and their love story is solid from the beginning despite the bumps in the road. I loved their HEA, everything they want and the way it was meant to be just for Danny and Gigi. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily sharing my review.
Danny and Gigi meet when she needs a place to stay and the town hotel is full. The two instantly feel a connection, which confuses her as she is pregnant from a man she is avoiding. The stress factor through the book belongs to the witch... her mother, who literally screams venom every minute she can, about everything. I would have kicked her out of my house shortly after she got there, and not waited years to do it. The rest of the story of heartwarming as they fight for their family and the closeness they share. Billy, their son, grows up in a wonderful environment, unlike both his parents. Loved the ending as situations are finally settled.

Danny is a cowboy rancher and seems to have it all but there's something missing for him in his life. When he meets Gigi he knows that its her that's missing and he sets about getting to know the woman he wants. Gigi is drawn to Danny and enjoys the time she shares with him. They both have issues with their families that cause some problems for them. However the connection they share holds true for them. Can that same connection hold when her secret comes out? Will they be able to stay together?
This is an amazing story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Danny is the first book in the Downton Cowboys series and is the story of Gigi Mans and Danny Downton. I had a harder time with this story even though I am have really liked the books I have read by Miley Maine. This story was sweet, emotional and smexy at times. But at others I just wanted to kick some butt on a couple characters. There were also several strange jumps in time that I was not sure about and seemed abrupt to me. Overall came away with the thought that this was an okay story, as the writing is good but the story-line and a couple of the characters were just not there for me.
This story flowed at times and then jumps around. Danny is a rancher with a big heart and he is lonely. Gigi is in town to get some supplies but ends up going to Danny's ranch for them. This could be a wonderful book but there are a few hiccups throughout. I really didn't feel tge initial attraction between the two main characters. And I truly don't believe that any man would have put up with the mother-in-law for as long as he did. Nor would a wife know that her husband was so unhappy but still put up with this for four years!. I also was surprised to hear Danny's brothers live nearby but you are never introduced to them. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book Oh wow, what a beautiful story about cowboy rancher Danny and his love interest Gigi. Danny seems to have it all...plenty of money, a thriving ranch, lots of friends but something is missing...someone to share it with. The he meets her..Gigi and he is hooked. Danny is genuinely a decent guy and what he has to put up with will shock you. His love never wavers for Gigi and she feels the same way but lots of trials and tribulations to deal with. Even with a surprise admission from Gigi that she is pregnant never phases him as he loves her so much but that’s where the fun or trials begin. A story I couldn’t put down, loved it.
I want to start by saying I love this author! I’ve read everything she’s written and this is the first time I didn’t love what she wrote. This book just wasn’t for me. I couldn’t connect with the characters and towards the end I was just irrationally angry with the characters especially Gigi’s mother! Danny and Gigi’s characters are sweet I would venture to say a bit more detail would have helped develop the storyline. Gigi’s mother however needs no more detail that character made me so angry I kept having to pause the read 😂 Overalll the read is just ok. If you like an innocent sweet cowboy this is the book for you.
I really liked the premise of this storyline but I did feel that there was an awful lot of inconsistency with the overall execution which is unusual for a book written by Ms. Maine. I liked both of the MCs of Danny and Gigi and was pleased to see them get their HFN. There was not a complete resolution to all of their family-related issues and I hope that we see this worked out in future stories within the series. Especially if the stories are going to be interactive with all of the characters appearing in all of the books. I do enjoy that when an author links books in a series in that way.

Wow this book gives new meaning to putting up with the in laws. Standalone with no cliffhangers. I truely liked Danny. He is a strong man who overcame a crap upbringing. He proved his love for Gigi over and over again. Gigi like a lot of people was willing to overlooking her mothers faults. I love that she stood up for Danny but the amount of time the mother stayed was crazy. Strong love of family that they (Danny and Gigi) built was awesome. Great HEA. Looking forward to the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Danny is a successful rancher who is content with his life but believs he wants more...someone to share it with. Gigi has come for supplies but winds up with something more valuable. This life seems perfect for her but will it shatter when she reveals her secrets.
This was a good book but I was not a fan of the enormous time jumps. The story started off well and then it was nine months or years later. Also, the explanatiin for the animosity that Rita felt towards Danny was weak.

This is another great read from Miley. There is an instant attraction between Danny and Gigi when she first turns up at his ranch but she is keeping a big secret from him. Will they get their HEA when he discovers the secret that she is keeping? There is plenty of drama and emotion in this book but also a great love story. The reason it didn't get 5*s is that I think Gigi's mother should have been either removed from their lives earlier or changed her opinion of Danny. Loved the ending.

I have struggled with this review. Overall, the story of Danny and Gigi, their connection, his heart... I liked them. My frustration was with Gigi's mother. The trouble, the nastiness, the overbearing, and controlling that she did was over the top and went on for way longer than it should have. My heart went out to Danny, having to deal with it all. I'd have liked a bit more information on Gigi's ex, more explanation there would have helped pull some things together.

Unfortunately, this one missed the mark for me, Danny and Gigi met at a time when he, although a successful rancher, feels he needs more! He wants someone to share his life with and he thinks that Gigi fits the bill. But she has secrets will their budding relationship survive?
The plotline did not flow well, it jumped about a fair bit and at first, I didn't feel a connection between the characters who I also felt were under-developed. As for the in-law’s well .......
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Danny knew instantly that Gigi was his future. She felt a connection to him also but she had secrets. He is determined to do what it takes to have her trust and love. Her parents are horrible and add a lot of drama to their love story. This was not my favorite book by Miley, but it was worth reading.

Everything Danny has achieved is due to his drive and determination. The only thing missing from his life is someone to share it with. When Gigi appears at his door it is almost as if fate has answered his prayers. However, when her mother finds out about them, she makes things as difficult as possible for them.

Well, this one was a bit confusing for me, the back and forth of time frame was bit hard to grasp at times. I did like the storyline, but felt that it was a bit forced, the flow was not smooth. For as strong as the main character Danny was supposed to be, I didn’t see him putting up with the in-laws for that long. The ending wrapped up for this couple nicely.

Miley Maine’s first book in her new series ‘Downton Cowboys’ is off to a beautiful start. The story has a sweetness to it. Danny and Gigi, the main characters, have an immediate connection to one another. But of course there’s always something that has to make things in life more difficult. This was such a good book it was hard to put down. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!
This is a well written book with strong, likable characters and an enjoyable story line. The author pulled me in and had me turning the pages with all the ups and downs and emotions throughout. It's an insta love with Danny and Gigi who have an instant chemistry. They have issues to work through along the way. The story moves fluidly and is an entertaining read.
