Anna Fairweather stands on the brink of discovering the answers to questions that have haunted her since childhood. Still, danger looms over her... When Anna, Jerome, and Mrs. Montford journey from London to Venice in search of a missing person, a train conductor turns up dead. Can Anna capture the murderer before they reach their destination?
Blythe Baker is a thirty-something bottle redhead from the South Central part of the country. When she’s not slinging words and creating new worlds and characters, she’s acting as chauffeur to her children and head groomer to her household of beloved pets.
Blythe enjoys long walks with her dog on sweaty days, grubbing in her flower garden, cooking, and ruthlessly de-cluttering her overcrowded home. She also likes binge-watching mystery shows on TV and burying herself in books about murder.
When Anna, Jerome, and Mrs. Montford journey from London to Venice the train conductor is found dead. He was murdered. There is a killer on the train. Anna and Jerome start an investigation. They must find who did it or the person may get away when they reach the station. They think of two suspects right away, But they didn't do it. Will they figure it out? What do you think will happen if they do catch him? I love the ending! Come along on this trip. You'll be glad you did. The plot is well constructed and the story is well written. I voluntarily received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. My opinion is entirely my own.
Special Circumstances for Anna who was a very special lady, even with so much confusion in her life, she remained focused. There ere many dangerous twists and turns; however, Anna was very cautious in dealing with everyone she encountered. Wherever she went there was danger, yet she was able to think fast and ease right out of difficulties and stay the course, whether it be her job or other requirements. Meeting her father was very exciting, yet perplexing. However, she was still hopeful that things would get better and they did. Especially meeting Jerome and eventually falling in love.
I am sad that this s the last book of the Anna Fairweather Murder Mystery series. I' ve enjoyed reading all the books and the finale had a happy ending which actually makes me want a sequel -series if possible. Kudos to the writer for the excellent plot and storyline, making the reader stay glued to the seat. It is possible to read each of her titles in one sitting. I did this in two.
This is a different type of cozy mystery. In this series a young woman has been hired to be a personal maid for a wealthy older woman. Lots of situations occur and murders happen, that need to be solved. The characters are very well done. The homes in England were described so well that I could see them. I'm sure that you will enjoy reading this series !!!
After many nightmares and vague memories, Anna realizes that the unusual coat with the gold braid trim is the one she saw on her father’s murderer when she was a child. Mrs. Montford admits that the coat was a favorite of her husband, and that he was involved in the murder of Anna’s father, but it is a very complicated story. How can this possibly resolve to the satisfaction of Anna, Mrs. Montford, and Jerome?
After learning the truth about her father, Anna, Jerome, and Mrs. Montford head to Italy to learn what they can. While traveling by train, the conductor is found murdered. Can Anna and Jerome discover the murderer? What do they find out concerning Anna's father? Where are Anna and Jerome headed in their relationship? A good ending to a nice series.
Charming Conclusion to a Charming 1920s Mystery Series
So! After finding out the truth behind her childhood trauma and resultant nightmares, Anna's employer and her nephew embark on a trip to the romantic (?) city of Venice only to have yet another murder occur on the very train they are traveling on!
The story moves quickly. I did not notice when I picked this that it was book 6 in a series. I was still able to enjoy the story though I would probably have understood some of the nuances better if I had started at the beginning
This last book of the series ends on the perfect note. Although there is a mystery to solve, the meeting of Anna's father, and the reconciliation of all that has motivated and urged her forward in life, gives way to the freedom she can now accept as hers.
Very enjoyable ending to the series. The characters have been very well developed and the overarching story has been well integrated and completed. I will miss Anna.
author doesn’t know the difference between me and I
I enjoyed all the books in this series but I cringed every time the author used the word I after a preposition. “to so and so and I instead of TO ME. Maybe she didn’t pass English in 6th grade and didn’t learn the use of pronouns: I is a subject and ME is object. Her terrible mistakes took away from the book.
While I somewhat enjoyed the book, this one was the most "unbelievable" one in the series - Anna is away from her job far too long throughout the book
THE ENDING was a total CLIFF HANGER which annoys me when reading a book, it is like the author wants to be sure you will buy the next book and it is rare to find that in a cozy and totally turned me off.
Then I read this was last in this series - if that is the case, I'd rate it a negative 10 if possible - you don't have a series, and end it with a cliff hanger then not write another book for your readers to find out what happened
VERY DISAPPOINTED in the author on this one, if she is smart and writes at least one more explaining the ending, I would read it, but I will not read anything by her if this is going to be her style in ending books and/or series - trash in my opinion
