The Witch's Monsters #1

Blood and Midnight

Rate this book
Three sexy-but-psycho monsters. One fiery, determined witch. And a high-stakes heist about to go very wrong…

I've made some pretty questionable choices in the name of my witchcraft—dabbling in necromancy, double-crossing vampires—but summoning the dark goddess? That was just plain stupid.

Now I’m in her debt, and goddesses don’t exactly do payment plans. She wants the blood of the dark fae warlord of Midnight, a realm of exiles where the sun never rises and torture is a competitive sport. It’s a death trap only three men have ever escaped—my newly appointed escorts.

Jax, a terrifying demon whose icy touch leaves me trembling in more ways than one. Hudson, a hulking, fiercely loyal shifter hiding secrets so painful he barely speaks. And Elian, a cocky fae prick with eyes like molten silver and a heart full of vengeance—a heart that once belonged to me.

I’ll do anything to settle my debts and get back home, even if it means teaming up with my infuriating ex and the other sinfully hot psychos for the most dangerous blood heist in history.

But when it comes to the cruel fae warlord, not even my monster squad can protect me…

Especially when we discover why the dark goddess really sent us to Midnight.

BLOOD AND MIDNIGHT is the first book in The Witch’s Monsters series, a steamy reverse harem paranormal and dark fantasy romance featuring a sassy, badass witch and the fiercely protective monsters who’ll destroy anyone who touches her. Expect sizzling enemies-to-lovers romance, damaged guys who hate everyone but their witch, and plenty of dark, supernatural thrills!

This book was... conflicted on many different levels.

This is a spin-off, I believe. I never read the author's first series and I couldn't help but wonder if the lack of backstory was linked to this or if it was willingly done so.
But because of that, I had trouble seeing the bigger picture.

By the end of the first book:
+ I do not know if Hailey is a strong character. She's an emotional and depressed wreck who suffered a major heartbreak. She's both strong to try to get through that but weak because everything revolves around her lost love. Were they somewhat of fated mates and this would explain it?
+ I don't know if she's powerful either. Because she looks rather magically weak. She has badass magick and can do a few badass spells but she's a bit of a background board most of the time.
+ I don't know if I like the love interests. Despite the multiple POVs, we don't get any backstory from anyone. Ellian left her but we don't know why, Jax runs hot and cold, Hudson is rarely in the picture. The feelings also seem to develop behind the scene and except for Hailey and Elian's history, nobody really seems connected to anyone.
+ The plot is messy. Actually, it starts with basically no plot, and the twist at the end was too easy to guess. The book mostly revolves around Hailey and Ellian's drama which nobody knows how to deal with.

I absolutely loved the Tarot Academy series (at least the two books I read) and I expected much more of this book. The men are not monsters, the heroine is a wee bit crazy but obnoxiously so. The sex is hot -sometimes- but the story is very underwhelming. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and was seriously thrown off by the lack of backstory; Hailey's character is too much of an enigma for the main character.

DNF - quit at 40%
I really feel like I missed a prequel or this is a spin-off from another series. The flow was ok, but the world building is just not there. No explanations for anything happening, from what the different paranormals can do, to where the back story started, to why Elian left Hailey years before, or why Hailey promised to help a Goddess, or what war she was referring to with the witches & hunters. NOTHING is explained. That left the plot in a meandering twist of non-sensical craziness. I really didn't feel like Hailey is a strong character, and the fact that she can't move past Elian's abandonment of her years before, without it being a "mate-bond" reasoning, just makes me think that she's not a good character. Elian doing what ever those drugs were, and the said abandonment, does not make him redeemable in my eyes. I would not want a thing to do with him for the abandonment thing alone, let alone just drugs. The other 2 guys that will be in the RH really didn't play too strongly into the first 40% that I did read, to get a feel of how they will play out into the story, or for me to form an opinion of whether I liked them or not. I just felt really frustrated with the story, and couldn't continue. I think this is an author I will avoid in the future, as this is the 3rd book from her that I did not finish.

At my age (60), life is way too short & my time is too important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

Welp. That ending was a real clusterfuck of chaos.
So far I’m enjoying this. Reading it even faster than I thought I was. I didn’t even realize I was at the end until it just up and ended.
Everything about this book is a complex cluster of fuckery, from the plot, to what the characters’ goals are, to who the actual fuck they really are, all the way to how they interact with each other.
This introduction was confusing as hell, honestly.
But intriguing, and I really want to unravel it all and get to the truth in the middle.

On to the next book, now.
Those answers better be presenting themselves soon, or I just might lose a little sleep.

I was curious about Haley‘s story and I have to say that I’m not disappointed with this first book in her series. It helped that I did already know Haley and was comfortable with the setting to get me into the story. I might have rated lower if this was my first book in this universe.

This is my first Sarah Piper book and it was a thrilling ride! Full of witty, sexy banter, hot chemistry, and action packed twists & turns. This captivating story pulls you in from the start. Haley’s mission is not only impossible to achieve but also needs the help of her ex who broke her heart and she still loves.

I enjoyed every minute of this story. It was slow burn steam, sexy, funny, and action packed with some angst thrown in. Haley’s story is so heartbreaking and Im really hoping she and Elian are able to get their second chance HEA. I’m not a big fantasy romance reader but this book has hooked me in and now I need to know how this story ends. Elian, Jax & Hudson we’re all so different, yet easy to fall for. Haley was fierce, yet vulnerable. The attraction between Haley and her monsters was so intense. Haley & Elian still have a lot to work out, so we get to see a beautiful friendship develop with her & Hudson and hot passionate relationship with Jax.

This book featured four incredible storytellers, Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, Aaron Shedlock, & Teddy Hamilton, who made this fascinating story come to life. Mackenzie brought on the sass for Haley and the emotional angst from Elian’s heartbreak was perfect. As always, Teddy does a great job playing the cocky, arrogant, fake vampire, Elian. Aaron’s and Jason’s growly voices add depth to Jax, the brooding demon, & Hudson, the mysterious gargoyle. They made me fall for Jax & Hudson. The way Jason kept saying “baby girl” to Haley was just the cherry on top! *swoon* This group of narrators are wonderful cast. I loved the whole narration and story and can’t wait to find out what happens next! The twist at the end was shocking!

This was seriously good! In a long string of books I either couldn't get through or have had to force myself through, I was able finish and actually be excited for the next one.

Haley is a badass in the truest sense of the word. She keeps getting up and fighting, just one more time. She pushes through the hard stuff, no matter how scared or angry or hurt she is. She grows and adapts and does what she always feels is right. So, yeah a Badass! Plus she can kick some ass too! Her character is really likable too, not a doormat, or whiny, thank god.

The Harem is made up of existing friends with an ex that left Haley broken. It is not a instant harem either, it is a fast burn story but the harem has not come together. So many things happen it is not clear how the " romance" will progress. This is so refreshing, I can't wait to see how all the relationships will come together, if they do?

The world is kind of complex with many creatures and oddities that are imaginative and intriguing.
The plot is exciting and fast paced with twists and turns that I did not always foresee, which is a definite plus. This has truly been a great series opener and I'm already on the second book.

Absolutely will recommend to anyone who loves supernatural RH, with multiple POV's and a heroine that can stand with my favorite female leads. This book and Haley are worth finding out if she can stand with yours.

DID NOT DISAPPOINT

After finishing Sarah Piper's Wicked Conjuring, I decided I needed to read another one of her books! And because the audio book was so good, I knew I needed to do another one of those too!

I love love LOVE Haley and her monsters!

A vampire/fae.
A demon.
AND a gargoyle.

What more could you want?? Except maybe a shifter...

I don't want to spoil too much but I'm glad Haley has found companionship within Jax and Hudson after having her heart broken.

Let's not forget about the spice, I would rate that specifically at a good and solid 3 chili peppers ;)

I'm vey intrigued by what could happen in the next 3 books! And I can't wait for Haley to become as powerful as she sounds!! So many good things.

Haley has had her heart broken by good and bad guys, so she has given them up. She now prefers monsters, and speaking of monsters, she recently summoned the Dark Goddess Melantha to give her the power to save her sisters. And respond, she did immediately. She knew she would have to repay the Goddess, but not so soon. Still covered in the blood and gore of her enemies, fresh from the battlefield, the Goddess summoned her into her presence and gave her a mission to repay the debt. The mission is to go to the realm of Midnight. A dimension so terrible only the worst of the worst are sent there. Haley is to go there and steal blood from the dark fae who rules a portion of the territory to save the Goddess’ son. But that is really not the worst of it. There is no way Haley could survive the journey alone, so the Goddess tells her of someone who has survived there and escaped from the place. Unfortunately, that person is a fae, a dark fae, her ex-boyfriend who left without a word five years ago, shattering her heart. He was now a vampire fae, a monster, just right up her alley, and he didn’t need to become a creature of the night. Not to affect her the way he did, not to make her quiver. He was already devilishly handsome. When she entered his club, Saints and Sinners, she learned he was not the only one who escaped from Midnight. With him, a fear demon, the hot-as-hell bartender, and a gargoyle whose human form was a tattooed temple she could worship at, and much to her surprise, they were coming along.

I loved the twist! The physical world-building gives you enough of a sense to know the lay of the land, and the ethereal world-building is more character-centered. The character interaction was well done and intricate in places, making the read that much more fun.

WARNING: EROTIC MATERIAL FOR ADULTS ONLY: If you are looking for some erotic fantasy, dark erotic fantasy between humans and paranormals or supernaturals, then this series, this series starter, is for you.

This is the first book in a new series, but I have read enough of Ms. Piper's work to decide to give it a go - even if I'm going to have to wait for the next books to be written. The plot of this one is a bit odd. I have not read any reviews so I'm sure there is info that I do not know, but I got the impression that there were a whole lot of events that occurred prior to the start of this book (possibly another series?) The female MC mentions a battle that just occurred with her sisters that they just won and of course, I have absolutely no idea what the heck she's talking about. So, I came into this book feeling like there were things I was missing.

The female MC has an ex boyfriend that broke her heart yet she is given a task that makes it necessary for her to involve him. Apparently, involving the ex also means involving his two associates (why, I'm not really sure....it's kind of an all for one and one for all kind of thing). Then, if things aren't weird enough, our MC decides that she's got the hots for one of the friends (Jax, the demon) while also showing the other friend - Harrison the gargoyle - that she is HIS mate. Hmmmm.......not sure if this is good or not? I honestly have no idea if this is a RH or not? I should probably know that, right? Well, in for a penny in for a pound.

The story is interesting. There are already betrayals and back stabbing and our heroine is already in over her head.

Sounds fun, right?

**Audio book review**

This amazing book is set in NOLA and Midnight, an prison universe for Fae, Demons, Vampires, Ghouls etc. Only the worst of the worst are sent there and after escaping, Hayleys guys aren't keen on returning but it's amazing what you'll do for love.... Or lust.

The story follows Hayley Barnes a Blood witch from Black Moon Bay who has to fulfil a promise made to the Dark Goddess.

I really enjoyed the flow of the story and the multiple POVs really helps under the story from other perspectives. The readers felt true to the characters they were portraying. The relationship between Hayley and the guys is deep and intense from the start, thanks to her history with Elian there is alot of hate and anamosity (which we all know leads to some pretty hot scenes 😍). Hudson is her rock, in more ways than one and Jax gets under her skin and shows her not to fear herself. I thought I would struggle to visualise the scenes with it being an audio book version but actually it made me stop and just enjoy the readers voices and the experience was much more intimate and intense. I felt like I was there with them.

You will fall in love with all of the characters and become completely enthralled in their journey. This is my first audio book that I've reviewed and I have to say, I'm glad it was one of Sarah Piper's books.

I got bored… and annoyed... but mostly bored.

So, it starts off with Haley (MC) and another character mentioning some big event without explaining. That big event happened in another series and probably has the background needed to make Haley more likely (because this book didn’t do it). It’s explained a little bit later in the book about what happened before – like a lot later. I think after most people quit reading – and it helps to clear up the feeling of “what happened,” but it’s so late that you already read most of the book confused.

And then there’s the fact that Haley spent the whole book pining after a guy that treated her like shit 5 something years ago and has no redeeming qualities. It happened so long ago that it should have been an “I’ve overcome” story, not an “I can’t let him go” story.

I was just honestly bored the whole time. Anytime I took a break reading, I wasn’t excited to start back up again. The only reason I finished it is because I hate not reading a book all the way through, especially after I already read like 80%. Obviously, I have no interest in continuing with the rest of the series. Although I'm curious if the amount of pining was cut down would the series be shorter? Like one less book?

I really loved this book. It's the first of what will be a series of 4 books that follows witch Haley and her 3 monsters: Elian the vampire fae, Jax the demon and Hudson the gargoyle. This is a reverse harem series which makes for a very fun and interesting character dynamic. I think Hudson was my favorite dude in the first book.

This book ends in a cliffhanger that has me anxiously awaiting book 2! 😱

The dedication of this book got me hahaha, and at this point, I’m in despair to find something to listen to… there are multiple narrators, and I love RH.

There’s an old adage about the difference between falling in love with a hero and falling in love with a villain. Go for the latter, it says, because a hero would ultimately sacrifice you to save the world, but a villain? He’d burn down the world just to save you.
Sounds pretty epic, right? And let’s be honest—who doesn’t love a bad boy?
The thing about villains, though… Ultimately, they’re just the heroes of their own stories. Still fighting for a cause. Still trying to prove something to the world.
Trust me, I’ve fallen for both. And those assholes? They broke my heart every damn time.
So now I’ve got a new saying:
Screw the heroes and villains.
I want the monsters.
Dark. Vicious. Depraved. The men who slide into your heart like a surgical blade, so sharp you don’t even feel it until you’re on your knees, trembling and soaked in blood.
A monster won’t try to woo you with roses and chocolates, with sweet promises whispered across satin pillowcases. He’ll kick down a fucking door to get to you, though. Snap a man’s neck just for leering. One threat against you, and he’ll tear out the guy’s throat with his teeth, then kiss you with a mouthful of blood, no apologies.
A monster’s got nothing to prove and nothing left to lose.
And in bed?
Damn.
He’ll own you, pushing until he finds the very edge of your limits, then smashing right through them. And oh, how you’ll beg him for it—beg him to break you, again and again and again. To absolutely ruin you for anything less than a life of obsession and fire.
And while the hero slays his dragons and the villain burns down the world for the woman he loves, the monster will simply hand you the matches and gasoline, step aside, and smile as you burn it down yourself.
Because all along, the monster always knew you could.
He just had to make sure you knew it too.

Fuck!!!! *fans myself* I’m feeling in my bones ILL LIKE THIS DAMN BOOK!!! GUUUURLLLL you got me in this prologue DAMN!!! Now I’ll see monsters with new eyes !!! I’m liking this book… I like our girl Haley’s attitude very much hahaha. Elian is her ex-boyfriend??? And Jax??? Fuck me sideways I like them too!!! Yeah I’m liking a lot of things hahaha Elian ghosted her five years before but apparently he had his damn motives but this doesn’t mean he doesn’t want her, I’m curious. Uh oh our boy Elian is a little self-destructive, has a minor problem with supernatural drugs all because he’s so full of guilt about Haley… my kind of guy with a dark past damn I love the broken ones. Jax is the voice of reason, the level-headed one thank gods for him because if not I think Elian could have killed himself already in an overdose of paranormal drugs. Hudson is the quiet one, maybe the more broken of the three, I’m curious to know more about him.

Holy hell … Haley was really broken when Elian left, damn she absolutely has to make him beg for her forgiveness .. she almost took her own life. Ooooowwwwnnnnn Hudson called her baby girl even in his mind ? Worth it. The evil warlord is giving me mixed signals now … damn. Yeah this book is so HOT, now imagine me, going about doing my things in my parents’ farm listening to it without my AirPods ? Thank gods no one here understands English hahahaha, and trying to maintain a neutral face? hahahaha EPIC. Sweet baby Asmodeus !!! Jax is a fear demon so… every time he makes her feel fear when they’re… well kissing, fucking and all … it’s an interesting concept I won’t lie, he’s so… *fans myself* rough, masculine, SAVAGE… damn it’s been a while.

OK, I’m worried about Elian’s addiction… he uses too much, and maybe he doesn’t know yet, but I think when he had gone to the city before, everyone ? Wasn’t because of blood, but because he was having a withdrawal. Woah… I’m having a thing for Keradoc… fuck.

Well, this book isn’t incredible, it’s just good enough and interesting. There’s not much world building or anything too elaborate. I’m liking the romance… and the SEX so that’s it. The characters are really likeable too, and there was a bit of a cliffhanger in the end. I’m a little curious, and I hope he joins the harem.

I was first introduced to Sarah Piper through her Tarot Academy series and absolutely fell in love with her writing. Like that series, Blood and Midnight had me hooked from the very first page. If you're a fan of books a little on the darker side with characters who have traumatic pasts, monsters of various kinds, second chance romances, and mating bonds this one is a good one to pick up!

What I really loved about this book is that although the issues from the past are somewhat slowly revealed and kept secret from most of the other characters, they really bring you right into the moment that they occurred. You can feel the sadness or pain the characters emit in that time of struggle. You can also see how badly the decisions the individual made or the effects of the decision made by those who hurt them affected them later on.

You especially see how a broken relationship and abandonment continues to affect the fmc, Haley. I think the fact that she made the decision to push past her pain and keep finding a reason to live makes her such an interesting and relatable character. The best part is that Haley doesn't hide the fact that her past affected what she became, a person who clings to her family for fear of being abandoned yet pushes any other type of emotional connection away so she doesn't get her heart broken again.

We don't find out as much about the guys' pasts as much as Haley's but the mystery of it all makes me look forward to finally getting answers about everything. Hudson growing up in Midnight, the full story about Jax's scar, and the reasoning behind Elian leaving Haley when he did. So many questions!

Although I love all three of the guys--Elian with his regret and desire to make up for him leaving Haley, Jax with his ability to push Haley to address her fears so she can conquer them, and Hudson being her shoulder to cry on and talk about her feelings--Hudson is by far my favorite. Sure, there is sexual tension between her and the other two men, but her and Hudson's relationship seems so authentic compared to the others. Instead of starting based on just sexual attraction, their relationship has a small foundation built on trust, something Haley is rarely capable of. Hudson listens to her when she needs someone who won't judge her, keeps her secrets, calms her without having to speak a word, and is teaching her to find the beauty in the darkness. He gives her what the others either cannot right now or what she is not willing to accept from them yet. At this point, I'm definitely Team Hudson. It makes me sad that we don't see as much of him in this first book, but I'm hoping that changes as the series continues.

The cliffhanger at the end of this book was completely unexpected. It truly makes you second guess who all can be trusted and makes you question anything you already knew about Moonlight and some of the characters as well. I can't wait to see what becomes of this group next!

Oh so dark and smutty good. I say dark, because pretty much every character has some traumatic past and carries a good deal of pain. Smutty, because g’damn those s3x scenes were hard and dirty and so fucking hot.

We’ve got one witch with a pretty grimy past. I feel like she must have been introduced in some previous series, cause we step into the middle of her story. But the author does a good job of filling us in on what we missed, so while it’s a bit odd, I was totally able to roll with it.

Then we’ve the three men whom she needs to work with to complete a mission given to her by a goddess (one who saved her ass prior to the start of the book, and this is what she demands in payment). All three men formed a friendship of sorts in a hell dimension, so when she asks for one, she gets all three. 1) Her ex who hurt her bad, walking away from their perfect relationship in the middle of the night without a word, then not even reaching out to her years later when he finally resurfaced. She was devastated. And he’s pretty wrecked by it too, but we still don’t know why he did it. 2) The smoking hot demon who can see your worst fears. And 3) the gargoyle shifter who doesn’t talk but is so adorably protective of her.

Book 1 ends on a cliffhanger, so don’t dive in unless you’re ready to read the whole series. The attraction is kinda fast, but the romance is slower. The sex hookups are under the pretense of being casual, but feelings definitely start to make an appearance. I like that she has a distinctly different relationship/connection with each guy. The ex she can’t help but still love, but also is soooo broken over him and so angry (rightfully). The demon that could flirts and fucks sooo damn good. And the gargoyle protector that she feels so safe with and able to bear her soul to.

I’m dying to know what happens next. The thing that just happened!! And the new character that just entered the story! And all the secret histories that are hinted at! I need to know more!! LOL

Wow, what a hot, thrilling, action-packed series starter!

Blood and Midnight is the first book in Sarah Piper's The Witches Monsters series. This does end with a cliffhanger, you can not go into this expecting the full story. BUT you can come out of it looking forward to more! I need the next book, Blood and Malice, ASAP because that ending has me on the edge of my seat!

Haley, our FMC, is a witch after my own heart. She's a little bit broken, but a lot determined, and she's still finding her way. When she crosses paths with a blood witch, and has to make a journey that she never expected, she's thrown back into contact with Elian, the fae warrior that broke her. He broker her heart, her soul and her spirit. But he's the only one that can help her, or so Haley thinks. Enter Elian's "brothers" Jax and Hudson, a demon and a gargoyle shifter respectively, and Haley finds herself with the team of her dreams. And some of those dreams are downright dirty! Yes, this is a reverse harem romance, so our Haley is drawn to each of them, and they are equally drawn to her.

This book spent a fair amount of time setting the stage, but there was so much action and character development that you didn't feel like it was all backstory. It was fast-paced and entertaining. And STEAMY. Jaw-dropping steamy. Furtively-looking-around-to-make-sure-you're-not-actually-giving-off-steam steamy.

Narration by Mackenzie Cartwright, Jason Clarke, Teddy Hamilton and Aaron Shedlock is amazing. It suits the story to well. Each really captures the spirit of their characters. I can't wait for more!

When a book draws you in immediately at the Dedication, you know it’s going to be great! If it hadn’t happened then, I certainly would’ve been hooked by the Prologue of Blood & Midnight by Sarah Piper. As Haley, a blood witch, decides that falling in love with heroes and villains isn’t for her, she announces that she wants monsters instead. And monsters she gets!

After making a deal with a dark goddess to help break a curse and then save her sisters, she embarks on a quest to the dark fae realm of Midnight. She can’t go it alone and needs the help of Elian, a vampire fae who broke her heart and has been to Midnight and back. Elian brings along his hot friends Jax (a one-eyed, sexy demon) and Hudson (a quiet gargoyle) to help Haley. Their protection of her is fierce and their attraction to her is undeniable. She is drawn to each of her monsters in different ways and each one has shades of both hero and villain. This is an exciting story set in a dark yet beautiful world that ends with quite the cliffhanger (something Sarah Piper does so well!) and it will leave you wanting more...and wanting it right away!

I listened to the audiobook and absolutely loved the narration by Mackenzie Cartwright, Teddy Hamilton, Jason Clarke and Aaron Shedlock. These narrators are excellent and they make the story even more compelling, exciting and steamy. I loved the writing, the unique characters and these amazing voices!

Um, I feel like I'm missing a huge portion of this storyline and I feel like the actual story I read made little semblance of piecing the puzzle together. There were no indications just vague statements that just left me completely, and utterly lost.

I get that this is a reverse harem but is Hailey is a fucking god to these men? I don't get the attraction. Nor do I throughly enjoy any of the characters enough to applaud for them.

But oddly enough I'm invested enough to continue reading just to see what else happens. Because, call me crazy, I'm curious as to what will be the final outcome.

I will admit that the only one I'm liking is Hudson, but I have an obsession with gargoyles so....

Hailey and Elian have their moments that seem to lead somewhere and they feel interesting at times, but Jax is so far okay. I also don't like Hailey's desire for rough sex. Really disliked how Hailey could just not get over a man who caused her unbearable pain. Especially when she's vulnerable and states the pain she inflicted upon herself.

Well, of course this had to end on a cliffhanger. I feel like this book could have been a tad bit longer just to immerse the reader into Hailey's background because it does seem intriguing.

Will I continue this series? Yes. Yes, I will! Because while I'm not connecting to any of the characters I'm in the mood for a paranormal and urban fantasy read with a little smutt and aimed at adults.

What... the... ***. This book should come with a little warning: "Please tread cautiously, you might not be the same after the final chapter..."

Haley is a young blood witch, indebted to a Goddess that demands her to travel to Midnight, a dangerous realm where escape is nearly impossible. As if that isn't dangerous enough, she also has to bring back the blood of the fae warlord of this realm and oh yeah: she needs to ask the help of her ex-boyfriend who ripped her heart out and shredded it into a thousand pieces. Sounds nice! Luckily, there are always ways to have fun among monsters...

There is not a single thing I didn't love and enjoy about this book! Haley is a wonderfull fmc: hurt and a bit broken, but also kind and loyal. I love the fact that this author doesn't shy away from topics/triggers as self-harm, substance abuse, ... The main characters in this book/series are all a bit broken, but there is magic in connecting all these broken pieces together, forming a whole that is so much stronger. It's definitely a work in progress to get there, but it is wonderfull to be a part of a story like that as a reader...

While this book has dark topics, the author also manages to bring lightness to it, resulting in a lovely balance between both. I absolutely recommend reading this book; it feels a little bit like breaking and being put together again as well.

I have already listened a few times, so this goes on my repeat listen list. When three complex antiheros and a fierce witch team up to take on a doomed mission in a hostile environment against an evil foe all bets are off and you can count me right in! Hailey takes no crap and owns the room from the very beginning, so I was completely invested in her character. She is a sex-positive bad ass who has overcome a lot to become the kick-ass witch she is now. Jax, Elian, and Hudson are unbelievably sexy, devastatingly handsome, and carry with them tragic pasts that have scarred them deeply. They are all hiding secrets and trying to build trust in each other to survive. This paranormal romance breaks barriers and will take you by surprise. Their journey is fast paced and exciting while carrying with it a steamy undertone of sexual tension that is palpably delicious! If you like super seggsy paranormal romance you don’t want to pass this one up!

Mackenzie Cartwright, Teddy Hamilton, Jason Clarke and Aaron Shedlock deliver wonderful performances to bring this story with all of the many characters to life so you can really get lost in the story. Some of the best!! I seriously can’t wait for the next book - so freaking excited!

First, the dedication in this book had me in tears. So amazing!
This book is so damn good and I was glad to have the opportunity to listen. I could not get enough of Hailey, Elian/Saint, Jax and Hudson. Sarah Piper takes you on a wild, action-packed journey with this group and I loved every minute. Hailey is requested to take on a dangerous task and travels to Elian/Saint to ask for his help getting to the realm of Keradoc to complete her task , while there she encounters his friends Jax and Hudson, who tag along for this dangerous journey.  They all have an immediate connection and oh yes, there are sparks!
Mackenzie Cartwright was fabulous as usual. She is one of the Queens of PNR and this book is no exception! I love her playing these strong, snarky and sexy women.
Teddy Hamilton and Jason Clarke were also excellent as Elian and Hudson. Sexy, growly and protective of Hailey.
The stand out performance to me was Aaron Shedlock with Jax. I've never heard that growly voice from him as any other character. It definitely me stand up and take notice!
I will be patiently waiting for book two to release because I NEED to know what happens!!

Book 1 in The Witch’s Monsters series by Sarah Piper.
OMG where to start. This is a first book for me by Sarah Piper seen a lot of her work for awhile but not got around to reading any of it on this case listening. I did start with this book which as I’ve started listening to it and realised that I was behind and missed part of this backstory because it’s in a previous series but once I realise this and listen to it in a different way it is a fantastic book I’m gutted it’s taken me this long to find this writer of the series. it is full on it’s action packed it starts off really quick and the witches monsters as she calls them are sexy as hell and I love that each one of them is very distinctive and different in character and the fact that there is quite a lot of narrators in this book so each one has a different sound in different feel to them absolutely love it cannot wait for more and I’m gutted again that is taking me this long to find them.
It’s an absolute must to listen to this an audiobook it is amazing I cannot tell you how great it is worth well more than five stars but that’s a limit

Wow. I was not expecting that.

First book 5 stars, overall a 3.5/4 star series. I picked this up because of the stunning cover, and was immediately blown away by a prologue that was beautiful and enticing all at once. As a whole the book is unique in the quality of it's prose, which is fairly rare in the urban fantasy genre. I loved the characters, I liked the world building, and I enjoyed the steam.

However. Unfortunately for me, the descriptive detail meant that the pace was just a touch too slow. The first book was ok, but then the second book not much happened at all. The plot felt very slow to develop, especially when I felt the end was pretty clear from halfway through book 2. Haley was awesome and I enjoyed her depth of character, but for me the overall descriptive passages by the end had become over the top and predictable. Kinda had to push through the last 2 books speed reading since I wanted to finish the series, but was a bit bored by it. The plot by the end felt quite arbitrary, and I felt it needed a new injection of excitement, mystery etc. instead of just tying up all the loose ends introduced in book 1... Over 3 books.

Haley is one of my new favorite characters. She is so strong and resilient and loves fearlessly and without the thought of repercussions. With her history you would think that she would be a little more reserved and would avoid relationships, but she seems to dive headfirst into them, and she cares about so many people and wants to do right by them. The guys are all vastly different. Elian seems selfish but I don't think we know his whole story, so I am holding out hope for him. Hudson is my favorite so far because all he wants to do is protect Haley from everything including his friends if he deems them a threat and I think she needs someone like that looking out for her. Jax meets her head on but I know he has something in his past that makes him not want to dive into anything serious so I think they both will be able to help the other heal from past relationship trauma. Can't wait to dive into book two because that cliffhanger was shocking.

Ever since reading the Tarot Academy I was captivated by the characters and storylines that Sarah Piper produces as they is always some mystery that needs to be revealed and it almost feels as if I am reading a lovely thriller that keeps me on my toes.

The first book in the Witch’s Monsters series drew me in instantly as it was lovely to see a familiar character from Blackmoon Bay and follow the FMC’s journey as she is forced to seek help from the one man, she feared the most, the one who shattered her heart to pieces. As H. faces her own taunting fears, she encounters unexpected allies, who may play an important role in her mission or perhaps even in her own personal life.

This is a fast-paced plot as there are numerous events that take place within this first installment. I am curious to see whether K. is as vicious and demonizing as he appears to be or perhaps there will be more to him than what meets the eye.

Upon commencing this audiobook, I initially found myself somewhat perplexed due to the narrative's frequent shifts between characters. It took me some time to acclimate to this structure, but once I did, I truly enjoyed the story. With that adjustment behind me, I found the book to be quite engaging; it features a blend of spice, romance, and action, along with three captivating and alluring monsters that undoubtedly add to its appeal. However, just as I was becoming immersed in the plot, I was left in suspense when the story abruptly concluded on a cliffhanger. The surprise of this ending was almost overwhelming. Nevertheless, I cannot emphasize enough how much I have enjoyed this book and how eager I am to delve into the subsequent installments. My curiosity is piqued, and I find it increasingly challenging to wait for more. Therefore, I wholeheartedly recommend this book; you will not be disappointed.
