Captain Theo Pallas’s ship developes a fault and he is marooned on an Earth type planet which has a primitive civilisation. His dilemma is whether to use his knowledge and technology to help the natives or isolate himself. But the natives have powers and abilities which force the Captain to become intimately involved in their lives.
I read a lot of sifi. I am tired of all the war and fighting ships etc. I enjoyed a first contact story. A new world. The characters were well done. The story line great. I thank the author. Please write a follow up book to continue this story.
This is a reasonable unfolding of first contact in a universe with no other intelligent civilizations. The story keeps a reasonable pace and develops a planet that is very plausible. I did get frustrated with the main character's off handed dismissal of all religious history as destructive. There was so much mischaracterized history of earth and the blatant assumption that science and religion are incompatible. Let me challenge the author to give a better reasoned approach to the role of religious sensibility in development of civilization.
Why do Science Fiction authors feel compelled to denigrate Christianity. Any intelligent person can see that Jesus teachings are true and reasonable. I came to read a sci fi book. Not to be judged for what I believe. Faith is not blind.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I love the Genre of planet colonization. I also appreciated the author in writing a clean book, with wild sex scenes and foul language. I recommend this book to my sci friends and family.
