Lavina: The Saga of an African Princess is an EXCELLENT READ!!! It is very well written and comes highly recommended!!
I couln't image being taken away from all that I have known my entire life, but that's what happened to our ancestors and the characters in thiws book. Lavina helped me to remember the past and those that had to endure the harsh reality of being drag away from their homeland. Although Lavina, posse true love through-out it's pages, it just left me heartbroken to think that how could something so right, could end up in chaos.
Author Wright obviously told his story well, because our ancestors were made to feel like the scum of the earth when they were brought across the water. His book exposes the harsh treatment of our people, but what I got from Lavina, is that faith in God, and true love will always pervail. Faith in God is what helped many of them to endure.
