Absolutely captivating! Salvation, Nicole’s most recent piece is a spellbinding read! Sheding light on the very important topic of child abuse, Nicole masterfully finds a way to give this heroine not only a voice, but the inner strength to fight her demons and take back control of her life. Charity and Finn’s story is a true testament to the meaning of selflessness, and unconditional love. Both broken and tortured by their past they find a way to heal each other.

Enjoyed this book immensely. It was beautiful to see how this story gave hope, and power back to the heroine. Eagerly looking forward to Christian’s story. Please note, this story contains sensitive content, that may be a trigger for some readers. For full review: www.marvelusreads.com

Ok hear me out ..

Finn may be one of my top favorite book boyfriends. There I said it. Also Charity is definitely one of my favorite heroines.

Often I read books where I’m yelling at the heroine to grow a backbone- that didn’t happen once in this book. Nicole Dykes knows how to write a strong heroine. Also , the fact that Finn never judged her once- how swoon worthy is that ?

I’ll just be here patiently , but not so patiently waiting for the next book .

one thing I admire about Nicole as a writer is her representation of beautifully flawed and broken characters and this series of interconnected standalones is just that. Salvation is Finn and Charity's story and we have met and heard of these two characters previously in Recovery.

Finn is a ladies man, a tattoo artist and kind of a douche, Charity is a young woman that has been through hell and back, and is still living it. When Finn picks Charity up from the hospital, battered and broken, he promises his best friend Jase and his wife Mya (Charity's estranged best friend) he is determined to find out just what kind of trouble she is in.

The story of this book tackles some tough topics but the depth of character is fantastic. With each book from Nicole she builds a sense of family and it really feels like you are coming home when you read the next interconnected novel. Salvation was an easy read, it didn't want to put it down. I adored Finn, he really surprised me at just how loyal and unselfish he is despite the front he portrays, he was a whole new man when it came to Charity. He was her saviour, her protector, her healer and watching their relationship flourish was a beautiful thing.

Charity is unbelievable strong but at the same time so scared and independent to her own detriment not for herself but for anyone she surrounds herself with. I admired her tenacity and her will to survive and fight. As her walls come down with Finn, how she finds herself again, how he help her explore a new side to herself, you can't help but be captivated by this couple. You want them to work, want them to prevail over all the things standing in their way. My only critique was it was a little repetitive in both what was happening and what was said but I understand why it had to be that way because of the subject matter and the fallout from that.

There are secondary characters that I am so curious about, both themselves tortured and struggling in one way or another and I am hoping there will be more to come from them in the future. Overall another great read from Nicole and a great addition to this world she has created.

I read this book three days ago and I am still struggling to talk about it. DEEP BREATH. OK let me say, I have NEVER felt this way about a story and specific character. I have LOVED this entire series. All the stories have left me emotional but this one BROKE MY HEART IN AN UNIMAGINABLE WAY.

Finn is a delicious, protective alpha male character who makes my heart all squished and maybe requires a panty change as well. Wink. How he goes about defending and trying to take care of our heroine is beautiful. Yum. He brings also with him the tribe I love in this series. Hug.

Charity our heroine destroyed me. Truthfully I wasn’t even sure I could like her. She was a victim but at first if felt like a lot of it was because of her own choices. As I continue to read, my epiphany was, she has lived what she knew and trusted those she shouldn’t have. Her childhood was awful and as you get the details it feels heartbreakingly real. Not everyone in foster care is abused but unfortunately it happens and I think Charity’s story felt too believable. She had this acceptance in feeling unworthy because of crimes committed against her. I wanted her to kick some booty but I know that isn’t really how a traumatized person acts. SIGH. She continues to be a scared and scarred girl, trying to survive. Can you tell she is haunting me? Sob.

What happens to Charity and her brother makes me FURIOUS. My MOMMA BEAR came out. I think it is where I became judgmental of Charity too. Then I had to remind myself, she was a kid too with NO RESOURCES. Ugly crying might have occurred during part of my reading, don’t judge me. Yikes. I think I need therapy after this story.

This truly is a love story about Charity and Finn finding their HEA. It felt bittersweet when Charity accepts the wounds of her youth and then tries to do the least amount of damage. Yes I am being cryptic but after you read this story you will understand. Umm I need another story after this one and I am sure you will know who I want the hero to be after reading this book. Wink.

This book is a mind trip. I am still reeling. It is worthy of five stars, for the fact alone that I am a wreck after reading it. Happy Emotional Reading Everyone! XOXO

Salvation is a book that goes after a your feels! Charity, with her broken soul, will break her heart with her past and have you wanting to give her the biggest hug. Then there is Finn...no way could anyone resist a guy like Finn. They were a bit of insta love but from there they went slow. Their relationship could only survive that way and I loved his patience and the way he dealt with Charity from the start.

Every book from this crew was an emotional journey and I enjoyed every one of them. Salvation is one to read!

I dont even know where to begin with this one . . . I mean its a 5 star fan-freaking-tabulous read and should not be missed!!!

Charity is anything but the charity case and Finn . . . Well is the knight is shining armor disguised as just another cocky man whore. I know its not real life, but its a story that has raw life experience woven seamlessly within a fairytale ruse. Its an enjoyable read filled with so many emotions that still lets you believe in the good and fear the evil and unseen. Charity will give you the strength to conquer anything you want. Finn is the grounding and support that wraps you in the warmth and desire. These 2 make for a beautiful story of self worth and determination to overcome any darn thing!

These stories Nicole weaves, featuring utterly scarred and broken characters, have a way of pulling on every heart string you never knew you had. The characters' circumstances that they have had to endure, are things we may never have to see or think and yet we still know exists. Reading these terrible tales and yet still being able to feel and know that these characters deserve happiness, well thats why I still continue to crave these poignant reads. Although this book has tragic events that may trigger some, it also gives hope that healing and happiness can overcome the darkest of days. I can not wait to see what else comes from these dark beginnings. . . I have not yet read anything by Nicole that I did not like and have become even more in awe with each story at the growth of the tales she weaves. They each take a tiny bit of my heart to take residence in, and I am OK with that!

Actual rating like 4.5 ⭐️

Charity and Finn where literally so pure 🥺

Charity was such a beautifully strong in her own way type of character and I loved seeing the way she handled her trauma, she felt so real to me. I also loved her unwillingness to feel dependent or to take “charity” from anyone.

Finn surprised me a lot! When I read Recovery and first met His character I guess I made assumptions about how he would be in his own book, and I was pleased that I was surprised by him! He was so frickin lovable and kind and completely selfless.

Charity and Finn where a beautiful slow burn of a couple and I loved watching them fall in love🥺.

(Another thing I liked was how the sex work aspect was handled Finn was always completely respectful and nonjudgmental of her current situation/occupation, which I appreciated. Also in general writing terms it didn’t feel like the author was shaming or looking down on sex work in any way {which is something I detest to see in books}, instead she showed some of the harsh realities while not judging or making assumptions about strippers/sex workers)

Though I had to knock this a bit and take half a star off my rating, because the ending didn’t really do it for me (not the epilogue, loved that) but the chapter that wrapped up the plot just felt too rushed...too much of an easy way out of something the characters were dealing with the entire book. Other then that though I thoroughly enjoyed this book💚

If you are a fan of instalove, emotional stories, then you will enjoy this one.
So. I'll be honest. When I started reading this, it felt a bit too instalove to be believable, but I am so glad that I stuck with it. I feel like if I had read the other books in the series first, I would have more familiarity with the characters and it would have helped.
This story is a punch in the gut. A reminder of tough lives that people live and impossible choices they must make. Finn and Charity's first meeting is not your typical love story, but their journey highlights the power of love and patience in a relationship.

Talk about a absolute journey! Dykes hauls the reader through the ringer with Charity and Finn's story in Salvation.

Completely and utterly broken inside and out, Charity is at rock bottom but she's stubborn and fiercely independent so help isn't always easily accepted.

Finn is a ladies man, kinda flies where the wind blows him. Never had a reason to stop and smell the wildflowers..until a favor ends up with Charity in his care.

This story is perfectly imperfect. Everything screams damaged but these two hunker down and give the finger to the traditional love story.

They say everyone has a choice, but I say only people who have been blessed with choices say that.

Escaping was a means of survival for Charity, it was her only option, her only lifeline and even if it meant leaving the one she loved most behind...she would do it again with the promise to herself that she would return.

Charity knew it wasn’t never going to be easy and walking from one hellhole falling into another. Her choices were limited but, to survive Charity uses herself the only way she knows how and Charity steps onto a path that could see her losing a piece of herself.

Charity is a stripper in a club...and to hell with anyone who judges her for it! Feeling the heated eyes of the men who fantasise about her, Charity feels empowered and allows her body to move with the music...getting lost in the moment.

“I’ve done terrible things, and I’m constantly paying for them. But it’s never enough.”

Like a bad penny, trouble follows Charity and this time the price is too high but the alternative...that’s not an option.

Charity doesn’t need anyone saving her, she lived for so long dealing with the choices that she had to make and to drag another into her chaotic tainted world...No just no. But, a desperate call in the middle of the night to her old friend could be the best choice she has ever made...except there’s a godlike tattooed male standing in front of her and it seems he’s as stubborn as her.

Finn…

With the burden weighing heavily on her shoulders and the threat growing closer every day, Charity knows that her time is limited and allowing Finn to creep up on her could very much be her undoing. Charity is damaged and beyond repair...and yet Finn looks at her like no-one ever has. Finn can see past the broken pieces of her amour and see the vulnerable tarnished soul...and he wants nothing more than to bring that girl back from the edge.

Damn it. Just what I need, more trouble and chaos. I thought this part of my life was over.

Finn jumped to start a new life after the storm and now enjoys living it up, doing the job that he’s passionate about and never without a female to keep him amused. Finn loves his friends and would lay down his life for them...but, this one task could be more than just a favour and turn Finn’s easy following world upside down. Driving all night to find Charity, a girl he’s only ever heard about and when he finally meets her, Finn can see just how much trouble she’s in and with the attitude to match his stubborn male arse...well it’s clear that Charity will be more than just a handful.

But, there is something there...Finn tries as he might to break through and is struggling to reach out to Charity. Finn may have been taken back when Charity tells him her living situation but this only makes Finn want to help her.

Charity is independent and refuses Finn’s help, only agreeing to stay with him. It’s clear however that Finn won’t let her out of his sight and is determined to protect Charity in any way that he can.

My curiosity runs deeper than getting out of this situation. Because whether I like it or not, I’m in this now.

Charity is beautiful, body and soul, Finn can’t get her out of his head and doesn’t understand how this blonde bombshell has wrapped around his mind...the thought of her leaving? Pains him more than he could ever say and wants to stop at nothing to keep her safe.

I can feel myself falling deep into something with Finn...What that is, I’m not really sure. And for whatever reason, I feel him falling too, which is really not good.

Charity & Finn...With just that first meeting you knew things were going to be hard for these two. Not to mention finding out their backgrounds and how entwined their worlds really are. The scenes these two had together were very real and written in such a honest tender way that you felt every word on the page.

The relationship was perfect for Finn & Charity and they balanced each other out perfectly. It was a refreshing read, showing that no one is perfect no matter their fadence and should not be overlooked. I loved reading Finn & Charity's story, each painful torment that was shared and mixed with a beautiful sweet endearing moment shared.

“I’m tainted. There’s no way around it”

“We’ve all been tainted by pain. It doesn’t make you any less attractive to me. It makes you more appealing because you’re a badass.”

With every new release my excitement grows, I love the build up for the characters that I am about to meet and be pulled into another world, because this is what Nicole does best...she pulls you into her stories!

This spin off standalone series has become soo much more and Salvation is no expectation! I couldn’t wait to dive into Finn’s & Charity story, just to see what Nicole was going to throw at us this time, we only had glimpses of what this story could be...but when you turn the pages, I don’t think you’ll be ready to see how much this story will become.

I love this new and exciting edge that comes within these books, the sensitive subjects are written with care and respectfully...and hold nothing back.

True and raw and unforgiving...Nicole keeps on pushing herself with these characters.

And I love it!

Finn is, no doubt, trouble. But for the first time in my life, it’s the kind of trouble I badly want.

“I love your wildflowers, Charity. I love it so much I spent hours sketching them to mark them on your body. But with me, you don’t need them. You need to stay right here. With Me.”

Nicole does it again. Once again, she writes such great damaged characters, and you can’t help but be drawn in and want everything for them from the very first page. This book was no exception, and I think this book was one of hers that really tugged at my heart strings. This book broke my heart, but in true Nicole fashion, it was put back together.

Charity isn’t too sure about this “big asshole” that comes to her rescue, but quickly realizes that he is so much different than the men she has encountered in her life. He’s nice, and doesn’t ask for anything. That scares her. From the moment he set his eyes on Charity, Finn can’t let her out of his sight. What starts out as a promise to take care of her, turns into them getting to know each other and their feelings start to grow. Finn sees every beautiful thing about her.

I absolutely loved Finn. I knew I’d love him from the first moment he called “dibs” 😂 He’s so dang sweet, patient, caring, and protective over Charity. Everything he did in this book was swoony, from his words to his action, and I just loved him so much. His past forced him to grow up sooner than later and take care of those around him.

Charity’s story completely broke my heart. She was forced to endure so much in her young life and had to do certain things in order to survive… She is incredibly brave, strong, resilient, and I couldn’t even imagine what she had to go through.

Finn and Charity are amazing! They’re so cute together. Their story is heartbreaking, but also beautiful and full of hope. After everything these two have been through, they deserve love and happiness, and I am so happy they found it with each other.

Nicole gives us these damaged characters that I’m immediately hooked on and want the best for them and then she breaks my heart along the way and somehow puts it back together again and I’m pretty okay with that

That’s how I felt with Salvation, I loved this book! Finn and Charity’s story was not easy and I love that so much more with how much they had to overcome and survive in order to be what each other needed. They were each other’s Salvation, they saved one another and they became each other’s lifeline.

I frickin loved Finn and Charity. Their story was beautiful and filled with true acts of love between different relationships. Not just a physical relationship but between family and friends, love and sacrifice was shown.

Charity broke my heart, her story and how much she endured and what she had to actually encounter in life day after day with no hope or happiness was honestly heartbreaking but I’m so happy that Finn found her.

Finn’s story isn’t rainbows and sunshine either but he didn’t have it as hard as Charity. He from the moment of meeting her though wanted to keep her safe and I loved that about him. Finn is this Swoony beautiful bearded tatted ladies man who had his own fair share of struggles growing up.

As soon as Finn gets a call to help her out, he knows Charity is trouble. Wether she’s trouble for his mind or heart he will find out. He’s the first decent guy Charity has ever met and that’s scary. Her story is not for the faint of heart, it’s heart breaking and I’m so glad she was able to meet Finn in a time of her life where she might’ve just needed him most to be each other’s Salvation.

Oh. My. Gosh. This! Book! And my poor heart! I’ve been sitting here for the past twenty-minutes debating how to start this review but I mean, this book completely destroyed me—in the very best possible way.

These characters did not have it easy. It wasn’t rainbows and sunshine’s—but is it ever with Nicole and her amazing books? I felt their pain throughout the book. It was agonizing and heartbreaking in the most breathtaking way. I really just wanted them to be happy, safe and loved.

Charity . . . Oh Charity, she broke me. Her strength is admirable and beautiful. She’s strong and willing, protective and fierce. It was so hard to read her pain, what she’s going through, at the end all I wanted was for her to feel safe. Feel hope.

And Finn, gah Finn. He’s a story of his own. Everyone deserves a protective, tatted, loving man. And he embodied that. He didn’t have the easiest of childhoods either but he would do anything for those he loves and when his friends ask him this favor—he’ll do it, even if in a middle of anything. Finn knows Charity is strong but he still wants to be there for her, help and protect her.

These two have a beautiful relationship. You really can’t help but root for them, wish the very best for them. It’s been hard so it’s time for some happiness. These two bring out the best in each other and it was beyond beautiful to see them together!

I highly recommend this book! It was everything I didn’t know I needed but loved. This one is angsty, heartfelt and will make you cry and fall in love but it’s all so worth it! I seriously cannot wait for more.

I should have expected that Nicole Dykes would tug on my heartstrings and tug hard. She always writes excellent contemporary romances with tragedy, darkness, and imperfections woven throughout. In Salvation we are following Charity and Finn. They both had rough upbringings due to their moms being drug addicts. They had to grow up fast and help take care of their siblings to the best of their abilities. Present day Charity is in big trouble because her mom stole a lot of money from a casino owner and then she left town, leaving Charity to deal with the mess and a very angry dude wanting his money. She loves to dance and uses that to make what money she can by stripping. But she lands in the hospital after being roughed up by aforementioned casino owner’s goons. She calls a friend for help and that friend sends Finn (a tattoo artist) to pick her up. What follows is a super slow burn romance between the two. I really enjoyed this book and I will have to go back and read the books that showcase some of these other characters.

My favorite scene had to be their first shower together. It was such a raw, intimate, beautiful, and healing moment for them both. I cried. Finn is an incredible hero. He is patient with Charity and never rushes her to do anything she isn’t ready to do.

CW: this book talk about parents with drug addictions, foster homes and the occurring sexual abuse that took place there, physical abuse, and violence

Overall rating 4 stars
Steaminess 3 stars (kissing, heavy make out sessions, fingering, fellatio, cunnilingus, penetrative vaginal sex)

This book easily became one of my top favorites by N Dykes! I knew going into this story that Charity would be broken. I knew her background was rough, but I had no idea of the extent of it, and just WOW! The way in which the author told Charity & Finn's story was so raw and real. My heart was in my throat, and I was on the edge of my seat cheering these two on.

Both Charity & Finn's pasts have forced them to grow up quicker than necessary - both of them making sacrifices for the ones they love. Their connection is so natural - I absolutely fell head over heels for Finn and his easy banter, down to earth attitude, and protective nature. From the first instance they met, he never let Charity take the easy way out. He challenged her, and gave her just enough slack to face her problems on her own and help her maintain her independence all while protecting her with everything he had.

Charity is a survivor. She is so selfless and although she may have made some questionable decisions, she did it all for the one person she loves and just wants to protect. She does not make things easy for Finn - she fights him at every chance; but that is what makes their HEA so amazing. She allows Finn to break down her walls so naturally. There is no forcing their relationship. It is a swoony, steamy and emotional ride and so worth every risk they take.

I love this world and these characters and can't wait for the next book in this series of standalones. Well done once again N Dykes!!

Salvation is a story of exactly that--salvation. At it's core, it's a story about hope and deliverance.

Charity has never had it easy in life. She's had to pay with her body for everything she's gotten. Her life is not her own--she struggles just to hold on by the tips of her nails. When Finn, an easy-going tattoo artist, does a favor for a friend and takes Charity in, he never expects to connect with this strong, sad woman on such a profound level.

“Don’t listen to that nagging voice inside telling you you aren’t good enough…Listen to me telling you that you’re everything to me.”

Nicole Dykes does a wonderful job portraying hopeless and despair. Charity is so numb to the bad things in her life. Finn was exactly what she needed. I loved how reassuring and patient he was. He knew Charity needed help without expectations. He wanted to give her hope and show her how beautiful and strong she is. I really felt for Charity and was pleased to see her finally get some good come to her.

“I want every part of her. And it’s worth the wait.”

Salvation is easy-to-read and moves at a gentle, slow pace (the same way Finn is with Charity). It's full of love, good friends, and the message that our lives can change for good--if we stay and hold onto to the hope that it can.

We have two damaged people, Charity and Finn, who come together so nicely and you just want them to finally have their happy.

Charity is paying for her addict mother's mistakes. After being physically beaten, she has no one to turn to. Every time she has any good in her life, it is taken away from her. Can she believe that Finn is for real? When Finn gets the call from his best friend, Jase, he's on his way three hours to search for her in a hospital. I loved that about Finn. He may have been not too happy to leave his current situation, but he did it out of love and loyalty to his like-brother, Jase.

Finn is a good guy. He is so patient and gentle with Charity as he can feel that she may break at any moment. She is at her breaking point. I love that he protected her to the best of his ability. He is definitely a wonderful book boyfriend, alpha and protective.

Salvation follows the story of Charity and Finn. If you recall the end of Recovery, Finn was sent to retrieve Charity when Mya received a call from her.

Finn, not really know what he is getting himself into agrees to help and goes on his way to find Charity. But once he's with her he can't seem to leave her and instead helps her and wants to protect her.

Charity, after a not so great life has come to not trust or rely on anyone but herself. She doesn't understand why Finn wants to protect her and save her.

Eventually Charity opens up to Finn and finds something she thought she didn't deserve. These two are one of my favorite couples so far. I loved watching Charity give in to being loved and really enjoyed Finn's way of getting her to trust him.

I'll probably end up saying this every time I review one of Nicole's books, but she has some of the realist characters and rawest emotions in her books.

I couldn't put this book down! Once I started reading I had to keep going until I finished. I love Finn so much! He is the perfect protector bad boy with a heart of gold. Charitys story is tough. She has been through so much in her life and fought her way through it all just to survive. She is a strong woman who wants to fix everything and earn everything on her own.. There were times this book had me in tears bc it is painful. Very painful. But its written so well and it is so real-life that it's relatable. I also really loved how it touched on that sometimes some relationships can't be fixed and the best thing is to just move on with your life without someone that you love. These two show the power of love to heal. It was a gritty beautiful story and one of my favorites I've read by this author! 10 stars! Must read!

“Finn looks at me like he wants to steal all my secrets and fears, wrap me up, and own parts of me I’m never willing to give.”

Finny, Finn, Finn! 😍 He was a character that demanded my attention every time he stepped onto a page in Recovery. So, the short (but, yet long) wait for his and Charity’s book was totally worth it!

Salvation tugged on my heartstrings a lot more than I was prepared for. It was full of struggles and triumphs told in such a real, raw, beautiful way that left me hoping for their chance at all the happiness they deserved.

I loved every word of their journey!

This book was fantastic!!

Finn & Charity’s book was so amazing. I loved everything about it, the heartbreak, the trauma, the love, the sexy time. Ugh & the ending.... I didn’t want it to end but glad it’s a HEA & can’t wait for more in this series.

Nicole always tells a good story. What I love most is her ability to tell a story that hooks you right away. She also writes characters with grit and self awareness. What’s really awesome about this series she wrote these stories for the ones that were forgotten... and for some reason I just love that.

Make sure to check this series out!

From the very first page this story sucked me in! From its atmosphere of danger and desperation to its sweet and caring relationship between two people bruised by their past, this is a story that pushed all of my emotional buttons. It's ultimately a story about relying on others, accepting love and support when it's offered, and overcoming a past that was utterly heartbreaking...and it definitely succeeds on every level.

Finn is a tattoo artist whose childhood was anything but easy. The son of an addict, his mother filled his childhood with one humiliating act after another to get her fix. It caused him to grow up way faster than he should have and left him with only one true friend, a friend he still has today and who he'd do anything for. That sense of loyalty is what lands him in Charity's world with an attraction to her that he tries to ignore at first. But as she struggles to confide in him he can't help but be drawn to her in a sweet and sexy romance full of sexual tension and suspense. Through it all Finn is a delicious hero, one who's had his own difficult childhood, but who's risen above it to make a satisfying life for himself. He's a loyal man too, willing to go above and beyond for those friends he sees as family. He's drawn to Charity the moment he sees her, drawn to the mutual childhood pain he sees in her eyes, and it's a slow journey to get her to open up. But he never gives up on her, never judges her for the choices she's made, never sees her as anything but a woman deserving of care and respect, which makes him book boyfriend material in my eyes. There was a quiet strength about him, a strong sense of caretaking, as well as alpha moments that showed a strong will. He's a hero wholeheartedly, one with a steady and supportive nature that made me love him all the more and that has me dreaming of him still.

Charity also had a horrible childhood, a childhood that still weighs on her today. Being stuck in the foster care system with her younger brother led to some truly painful moments, moments far beyond her control as she was just a kid too. Running away from it when the chance presented itself didn't make the pain go away as it still weighs on her today. Ms. Dykes' depiction of her childhood was truly heartbreaking and it had me wanting to hug both her and her brother for all they endured. When readers first meet Charity her they see a young woman with a lot of sass, someone who wants to handle things all on her own. Behind that facade though is a woman bruised both inside and out, a desperate woman who owes a lot of money to some very bad people. Her choices to get out of the danger are diminishing, which is why I breathed a sigh of relief when Finn said he was going to help her. Charity's a truly kindhearted heroine, one who desperately wants to protect those few who she cares about without worrying about the ramifications to her. She doesn't think very highly of herself early, can only see all the wrongs in her life. But being with Fin she slowly sees herself as worthy of happiness in a relationship full of heart and soul.

On a whole this was an epic romance that made me cry a time or two, made me angry a time or three with how truly awful some people can be, all while watching the burgeoning romance of two bruised people who become stronger together. There's lots of steamy moments, lots of painful moments too that we're all perfectly balanced to keep me inhaling this book. Along with an unforgettable main couple were a cast of secondary characters, some who we've seen before and some who I hope to see more of. They're a solid support to this couple, an unconventional family of their own making, a family who all experienced painful childhoods. From the first page to the last this book held me captive, on edge over what would happen to Charity while rooting for her to accept all the unconditional love and support Finn offered her. Readers looking for an emotionally powerful read, gritty realism, and a love that defies the odds will definitely want to add this to their bookshelf!

Funny story, the ARC for this book popped up on my kindle but for the life of me, I do not remember signing up for it.. If I did (and forgot because memory of a goldfish) I’m a genius, and if I didn’t and this still managed to get to me, I’m thankful to every lucky star!

𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 is my first book by Nicole Dykes, and it won’t be the last. I admit I felt a bit lost while reading as to who all the characters are.. I seemed to have jumped in the middle or by the end of the series. But I was fine reading it as a standalone.⁣

I don’t know what I was expecting when I dove right in without reading a blurb or anything.. what I didn’t expect was to finish it in one go! I was so invested in Charity and Finn’s story that I really lost track of time. ⁣

I expected Finn to be this playboy due to literally the first scene, but man did he surprise me. He was sweet, he was caring, he was protective, and I loved all of that, yet I fell for him even more when his macho/alpha side came to play. I love how patient and understanding he was while dealing with Charity, not only as a couple but throughout the book. He’s loyal to a fault, his relationship with Jace specifically, but with all his friends was beyond mere friendship, they were like family.⁣

Charity made my heartache. She started out as this stubborn woman with an attitude a mile long, me against the world type of thing, biting the hand of those who want to help her, almost ungrateful… but with each page you grasp how deeply afraid and alone she feels. She’s holding the weight of her past and troubles on her shoulders and was afraid to depend on anyone else for even a second just not to get disappointed later on. ⁣

Plot-wise, I had one question left unanswered but it all wrapped up nicely. What I think made this one standout for me was Charity opening up and taking a risk on Finn (who wasn’t going anywhere) and witnessing their relationship develop from nothing to that HEA. ⁣

Their past, all of them, mainly Charity and her brother, left me completely wrecked and an emotional mess. Sensitive topics/flashback so beware. ⁣

I can never come up with the words that could and or would EVER do Nicole the justice she deserves, cause she is just...AWEMAZING!!! Salvation is just another reason to love Nicole and her words!! So this is Charity and Finn's story, and holy crap on a cracker it is a journey!! Charity reaches out to Mya who she used to be best friends with and even though Charity disappeared suddenly, and Mya had no idea what had happened to her, or even if she was still alive for that mattered ate at Mya. Charity reaches out to Mya after quite a few years have passed to let her know she was in the hosptal, of course Mya freaks out, and wants to know that Charity is ok, but doesn't learn any more information then that. Jase asks Finn for his help in finding Charity so Mya knows that she's ok....so of course Finn does, and he even eventually finds her and brings her back to his place. Charity has been through so much in her life, she has had nothing easy, and just when she thinks something may finally be turning around something happens to bring her right back down again...then she meets Finn, and he turns her entire world upside down, makes her feel things she never believed she was capable of, and Finn sees things in Charity that no one else has ever seen, and or looked deep enough to see, and that both freaks her out and makes her feel good!! Charity is a closed book, and will not share anything with Finn, at least not at first. As she gets to know him, and the feeling of safety she feels with him becomes stronger, she starts to tell Finn some things, and hearing what she's been through will break your heart, and will make you root for Charity even more. Finn is just what Charity needs, and of course he develops feelings for Charity and vows that he will never let anything bad happen to her. Can he keep that promise? Will Charity learn to believe that she is worth a hell of a lot more then what she has always been led to believe? Will she allow Finn all the way in? You'll just have to read this AWESOME book to find out!!

This was the first book I've read by Nicole Dykes and I have to say, I'm not disappointed. I didn't know what to expect but I really enjoyed this book. The beginning, you have the cocky leading man having sex with a rando before he meets the heroine but other than that there's no cheating of any kind. This is also a book that seems to be part of a series but I didn't feel like I missed too much because I hadn't read the other books before. I am curious about some of the others stories though.

What I really enjoyed about this book was Charity. She was a strong character that definitely did not have an easy life. When she first meets Finn, she's full of attitude and disdain towards this guy but who can blame her? She has never had a good experience with a man before because they always want something from her. She takes every bad experience that comes her way and deals with it.

There are triggers in this book just as a warning, but seeing Charity go through her healing process is worth it to me. I have to commend Nicole Dykes because she didn't just gloss over trauma like I've seen happen so often in books before. She gave Charity the respect of the process, which is completely realistic. Charity has a lot of damage but with Finn, she can work through it. She thinks that Finn is going to hightail it and leave her so she needs constant reassurance.

The only thing I could say about this book is that I do wish that it was longer, just because it seemed like everything happened very quickly. I just kinda wish that I had more of the story, and more buildup with the couple. But it was really good and I seriously loved Finn. I'm assuming I see more of him in the previous books so I definitely have to check that out as well.

Also, the wildflowers? Absolutely loved!

I was generously given an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
f: Charity
m: Finn
(Dual POVs)

Nicole has done it again (not that I'm surprised!) Another book that captivated my attention from the very beginning and held my heart hostage, forcing me to keep reading cause I needed to know that things were going to be okay for these tortured characters. I was so engrossed in this story, if it wasn't for my husband coming to get me at 2:30am and dragging me to bed, I likely would've read this book in one sitting!

Poor Charity has never had it easy. I mean NEVER. I don't think I've ever read about a heroine suffering through so much evil and ugly, and her perseverance absolutely astounded me. Her strength to keep going was completely admirable and inspiring. Finn is utterly perfect for Charity. His persistence and strong will to help her was exactly what she needed, someone she could finally trust and lean on for help, that wasn't going to take advantage of her. The small gestures of Finn running his hands through Charity's hair or holding her face while talking to her was enough to make me swoon.

At the end of the day, this book filled me with hope. So many people in this world have been through tough things in the past, and some struggle mentally from all the suffering they've had to endure, but this book gave me hope that no matter what your upbringing, or what type of things you've had to go through, you can overcome it and live a happy life.

Favorite Quotes:
"Don't listen to that nagging voice inside telling you you aren't good enough." He grabs my hand, placing it over his heart, both of us holding onto the washcloth. "Listen to me telling you that you're everything to me." -Finn

"We all have our storms." -Mya

"Mine. Only fucking mine."
"So, now you own me?"
His eyes meet mine. "You certainly own me."

Grab your tissues and your heart. This one will tug at every heartstring you have.
Until Finn came along it seems there was no one in Charity’s life that was ever charitable to her. Her life journey was horrendous. With all this she is a strong independent woman, even though she doesn’t see herself that way.
I don’t do spoilers. This is a story that you need to read. What I will say it does provide clarity on why we should never prejudge people or judge a book by it’s cover. Everyone has their own life story. Some people are just trying to get from one day to the next. The author does an excellent judge of painting a very realistic, sad and poignant story. However, wrapped up within this story is hope! Yes it’s very bleak hope. What I love is that Charity no matter what never truly gives up hope even though she can’t see it. Finn is the the guy we all need and want in our lives. He never gives up. He will give you heart palpitations.
The shower scene is just a true testament to love. I don’t want to spoil it for you. But Ill just say it’s not what you think. It is SO much more and not at all what you may be thinking.

If you’ve read any of this author’s books before you’ll be happy to know we are reacquainted with some of our favorite characters. If you haven’t it’s fine. It is a standalone. You most likely will want to go back and read her other books.

I don’t want to continue to writing or I may spill more than I should. This book touched every emotion I posses and wrung me out. Don’t worry she does bring it all together. I get wait to see where she takes us next.
