"Finding awareness is a beautiful exploration of the self beyond the ego. Anyone who's looking for self awareness, inner peace, and a greater connection to the world will gain something from reading it. Amit's intention, generosity, and clear delivery is a gift to our collective" - Dr. Nicole LePera, The Holistic Psychologist. ~ In Finding Awareness, author Amit Pagedar brings to light the struggles, confusions and frustrations we experience in everyday life and offers a way of examining them through the process of self-inquiry. Covering everything from comparison, insecurity, and addictive behaviors to anxiety, Amit offers a practical approach to observing and understanding these issues through the tool of insight meditation. By diving beneath the surface and unraveling the deepest patterns of egoic thinking, he explores uncomfortable truths and brings to light the unvarnished reality of who we are as individuals. Through this self-inquiry he hopes to empower the reader to face themselves, as they are, and bring about a profound and fundamental shift in the way they approach their problems. In this book he describes the structures of ego and suffering and the processes by which these forces sustain themselves. He further explores why and how these powerful structures sometimes collapse and bring about immediate and irreversible personal transformation in the individual. Along with accounts of real conversations with his readers over the past few years, Amit offers an account of his own personal journey through this book. He begins with simple ideas and progressively builds upon them to create a spontaneous insight into the nature of our being. The book also includes a comprehensive question and answer section, where readers will find the tools they need to begin the art of finding awareness and embark on their own personal journey of self-discovery.
I have never written a review before but I think a lot of people would benefit from this book so here we go.
Finding awareness explains with unprecedented clarity the inner workings of our minds. I feel like it has resolved most major questions I had about life. It paints a very complete picture of various concepts, some of which I intuitively understood but could never see how they fit together.
The way the book is written is also quite unique. It is an inquiry guided by genuine curiosity, which left me naturally wanting to progress further into the book. Never does it promise any reward from partaking in the inquiry, nor does it imply that those who have done so are somehow superior. In a way, it reminds me of how one learns about maths or science, not to get something out of it but simply to enjoy the process.
The language used is very simple and I never felt like I have to believe in any statement without evidence.
Overall, the book is very balanced and I feel it embodies what it teaches. If you are interested in understanding yourself, this book will touch you in a deep way. Highly recommended!
I started reading this book 4 years ago and had to put it down because I wasn't in a great place, and couldn't find the focus. Or rather, I didn't want to. The resistance was too strong.
This book is about surrender. This book is for those who feel a bit lost.
For the past 4 years this book was always lying in a visible place, because I sensed it was an important book to me, and I wanted to have that daily reminder: don't forget to find that awareness, it's out there ;)
Recently I started reading again a few pages every morning, as part of my morning ritual, because I felt I was finally ready for it.
In the intro he mentions this book can be seen as a seed you plant in your subconscious mind, which is your garden. My garden was in disarray and the seeds didn't take 4 years ago. Today I feel they just might.
You could say this book is one of those self transformation books, yes. But as he again writes in the intro, this is a journey that takes time, patience and care.
'It is an unraveling of who we want to be, and finding our way back to who we already are.'
