This should have ended up in my ‘did not finish’ bookshelf. The story was all over the place and often did not flow nor make sense from one scene to the next. A lot of the story felt random and out of place. The feelings, emotions, thoughts, and actions of Jaleesa was all over the place. Like I was legit confused reading a lot of her chapters! It just didn’t flow. Also, it was as if Jaleesa & Ancient sleeping together in the beginning never happened. How can the “shock” of their kiss in the hospital be a shock at all after sleeping together?!...as if it was their first time exchanging any intimacy.
Then all of a sudden it was just causally thrown into the story that the father was dying! Just out of the blue.
This story was a mess.

Think I got it

The story was chock filled with so much love, unhappiness and more. Jalessa had every right to feel disconnected from her family, and Ancient was nothing but love. I adored him and this story.

Yass! The richness and depth of these characters was just amazing! Although Ancient and Jaleesa were exhausting at times! Ancient was able to read Jaleesa pretty quickly, and called her out on her ish, in a way no one had before. He challenged her, and it made her angry, but yet intrigued her at the same time. Jaleesa came off as an entitled, spoiled brat to Ancient and it turned him off. However, he was still attracted to her. They both had deep issues within them that have yet to be resolved. Those damn parents of Jaleesa, just trash! No wonder she always on go! Ancient is struggling with being sick, and wants someone or something to blame. Jaleesa finds purpose in helping Ancient realize his worth, and found a solution to change his life. After listening to Jaleesa pour her heart out to him, when she thought he couldn't hear her, sparked a fire in Ancient. He dug deep and found the real reason for all his anger. Yes, who would have thought? Definetely not me! 😂 But these two ended up being perfect for one another! Now! What is up with Jael? Did I miss something? Hope there is more to come, as I thoroughly enjoyed this journey! 👍👍👍

Good read

I enjoyed this story even tho it took me a lil minute to like Jaleesa. I loved Ancient as soon as I met him tho. I looked the wordplay of the character's name and all of the businesses. I'm definitely interested in knowing more about both of their families and I hope Jael's story is next. I definitely would recommend this love story to others 🤗

BrittJoni is everything! I love when two people trade rolling eyes and smacking teeth at one another for rolling around and smacking bodies! This was the absolute most perfect frenemy to lovers book.

❤❤

This author is good for creating stressful characters and these two were no different. While Leesa did have a bad attitude in the beginning i identified with the bitterness and hurt that comes from an absent partner. She carried that pain into her adult life and it was breaking her down. I loved Ancient because he was real and he wasn't afraid to express himself. He tried so hard to be strong for his family but he needed someone who could be his strength. I really enjoyed the story and im looking forward to more

Great story

Jalessa and Ancient's story was significant to me because they were both dealing with pain and sorrow in different ways. Jalessa's parents are definitely a trip in many ways. People like that irritate my soul. I'm curious on whether her sister Jael will get her own story because that last chapter piqued my interest on what's going on with that situation.

Deep Within

The title to this story holds so many definitions. The mess some parents create in their lives, become the burdens of their children. Some negative behavior that are exhibited are just fronts for the deep pain felt inside. I was stunned at the end.

Great standalone😍

So happy Ancient and Jalesa could be what the other needed to keep fighting through the obstacles of life. Ancient was battling an illness not having the strength to fight Jaleesa opened his heart and eyes to love again. Cute love story

Joined for Life

I enjoyed Ancient and Jalessa. Two broken souls on a journey to self-awareness facilitated by their meeting. Family strife, feelings of inadequacy and abandonment are duplicate themes for them both. One-click and join them on their journey to compketeness.

Cause, whew!!!

I love that every book Brit pens always has an underlying message. A deeper meaning. That prayer was everything I needed when I needed it. I definitely recommend! I’m sure every reader can relate to both characters! I’m the strong one like Ancient, right now needing someone to be strong for me. Like Leesa, I too am working through daddy issues! Cause, whew!! Great job as always!

I liked it

Leesa is just a young lady that wanted to be loved. Not having her mother and father in her life showed. Ancient and Leesa were alike in some ways. Good book.

❤❤❤

This book was a lil on the emotional side but overall a refreshing read. I loved how the main characters couldn't stand each other but somehow found love along the way. This was my first read from the author and certainly not my last.

Honestly not even sure what I read.

A lot of this book didn't make sense to me. I had high hopes because the premise read well, but it was A LOT all over the place for me to enjoy the read. Between the random themes, confusing names, and characters personalities, it was too scattered to make sense and flow. Jalessa is a character who starts off claiming to need room to grow, but immediately regressed in growth when she moves away from her family. I was confused at the family dynamic of both main characters because of the way they spoke about them. One minute they were singing their praises and the next they were talking down on them and saying they didn't need them. I didn't immediately take a liking to either character because I don't feel like they were portrayed well. I understand the need for character development, but the reason behind their negative disposition was revealed to late in the story to make them seem favorable. She complained A LOT, even though she stated several times that she didn't want to make excuses or blame others for her poor choices. Ancient was very judgmental of her poor attitude towards others and went on a whole internal monolog about helping others, but was just as rude as her to everyone he encountered. She tried to paint him as a person how wanted to heal others, but he was really damaged himself and I didn't show how he healed others aside from owning a few medicinal shops. There was also a lot of deep background information about side characters that was completely unnecessary and confusing. The transitions with conversations and time frames was all over the place. I feel like this book contains a lot of random themes the author wanted to use and just threw together in this book without any rhyme or reason. I could continue but I'm just going to leave it at that. Way too many holes and poor writing structure. Not the story for me.

Unconditional Love

Who would have thought by Britt Joni is a interesting and amazing story. This is my first time reading from Britt Joni. She does a good job. Britt Joni was introduced two her main characters to her readers. This story was talking about unconditional love, unhappiness, mental health, depression, anxiety, and emotional.

Jalessa was struggling with her depression and unconditional love by her parents. She has the right disconnect her parents and focus on her career as health restaurant.

I love the way how Jalessa helps Ancient for his health condition. They’re becoming good friends and good couple. Ancient teaches Jalessa how to forgive her parents for not providing and protecting her unconditional love. She wants to be love and connect with her family and Ancient.

I’ll definitely continue to support and read more from this author.

Good read!

This was another newbie for me. Overall, it was a good read, but I did have some issues getting into it at first. The storyline is good, but there are many parts that is vague meaning it needed a little more back story. I loved Jaleesa and Ancient as a couple. I think they complement each other well.

The story ended as a cliff hanger about Jael's situation. I wonder is she going to tell her story next. It seems she may have a lot to share.

Constructive criticism: This is a good story but I think if you go back through it with a fine teeth comb it would help tremendously. If you can fix the vague parts and make them more clear then the story itself would transition and be a lot smoother.

Who Would Have Thought? is an enemies-to-lovers romance novel. Jaleesa Spice and Ancient Truth are complex characters that come with issues that make them unique and interesting. They take us on a journey of healing and becoming the person that they are meant to be.

While this story has captivated characters and an interesting plot, it fell short for me and my expectations.

Confusion

This book was all over the place for me. They had sex in the beginning and then the story continued like it never happened. Her father wanted to see her and then all of a sudden it was because he was dying but that was never mentioned she just said it. I don’t recommend this book unfortunately. It seemed like it was going in a good direction at first and then confusion

Characters left a lot to be desired...

Wow, this book was so boring. The main character, Jaleesa, was mean as hell and turned me off after the first couple of chapters. Ancient wasn’t much better. It was difficult reading about such miserable people. I definitely could have found a better use of my time.

❤️

Who Would Have Thought was a really good read that was at times heavy but thoroughly enjoyable. I liked that the two main characters, Jaleesa and Ancient, were both flawed but in need of something that only the other could provide. It wasn’t heavy on the Romance but it provided real life entities tied with just enough that it love that it kept me wanting more. Ancient was going through health issues but he still found it in him to help others and want to be there for Jaleesa. And although Jaleesa had serious parental issues she still had this giving heart. What Jaleesa wanted to do for Ancient was admirable. Lots of gems were dropped in this read. I liked it a lot.
