Sinclair lives in Oregon’s wine country where she and her family own a small vineyard of Pinot Noir and where she dreams of being able to write at a desk like Jane Austen instead of in parking lots waiting for her kids to finish one of their 12,000 extracurricular activities.

Marietta is the place where hearts go to hope and heal. This time around, Sinclair Jayne is guiding the tour. The Cowboy Says I Do asks the tough questions. Beck and Ashni strip away the fairytale and tackle the mysteries of life, love and heartache. Happily ever after is not a state of mind, it's hard work. A compelling glimpse of realism that captures the heart.

This is a new to me author. This is book one in the series. I liked the diversity. The novel centers around how a long-time couple's relationship comes off the rails. The female lead actually waylaids her long-time boyfriend. He doesn't understand what went wrong. They each learn the whys (mostly a lack of communication on both their parts) and recognize the role they each played and work together to repair it and grow stronger individually and as a couple. The writing was okay. The contest between the cousins was a bit juvenile to me (these folks are in the late 20s) but it set the stage for (at least) the next book. I don't know if I'll continue with the series.

Violence: None that I recall.

I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. I was excited to see a new series by Sinclair Jayne was available to read. I was also thrilled to return to a favorite place, Marietta Montana. This book introduces us to new characters but also includes many old favorites like the Wilder brothers and their wives, Boone Telford and some of the other rodeo gang. The new series is about the 3 Ballantyne cousins who are in the rodeos together as part of the Pro Rodeo circuit. Book one features Beck Ballantyne. Beck has a long time girlfriend that he’s been with for 13 years, Ashni Singh. Ashni has been wanting to get married and put down roots. Beck isn’t ready to give up the rodeo circuit with his cousins.
At the beginning of the book, Ashni is at her cousin/best friend’s wedding back home in Denver. Her family is pressuring her to settle down and get married. Beck didn’t attend the wedding due to rodeo events. This doesn’t go over well. He plans to meet her in Marietta and stay with his grandfather and cousins at the family ranch for a couple weeks. Ashni is teaching a volunteer art class in town and decides to not stay with Beck at the ranch. She feels like she wants to make some changes. The person in charge of her art class, Sky Wilder, offers her a studio apartment in town and she accepts.
Beck and his cousins arrive at the ranch and learn that their grandfather is suddenly going to sell the ranch and his 3 daughters want him to move to Denver to be near them. Beck also learns that Ashni isn’t coming to the ranch and she announces to him that she wants to break up and make changes in her life. He is quite upset about both issues. He has wanted to move to the ranch and eventually marry Ash once he’s ready to give up the rodeo.
The 3 cousins decide to try to change the grandfather’s mind about selling. They come up with a game, the Rodeo Bride Game. It’s a competition where they find someone, propose and announce it to the family at an upcoming party to try and get the grandfather to change his mind. The other 2 cousins don’t want to include Beck as he has an advantage they think, a longtime girlfriend. Unfortunately they don’t know that she broke up with Beck. So Beck decides that he needs to propose to Ash for real as he doesn’t want to lose her. Everyone is giving both Ash and he advice and they are both quite lost and confused. Even though Ash broke up with him, she misses him and wants to change her mind. To really make it a big change, Ash learns she is expecting. Once she tells Beck, he is pushing to get back together and get married.
Both Ash and Beck are miserable without the other and Beck is working hard to give Ash what she needs to make her happy. There is lots of angst and chemistry between them. Meanwhile, both cousins are courting 2 women they’ve met to try to win the competition and save the ranch. When the book ends, we don’t know what is going to happen. I enjoyed the book very much and am looking forward to reading the other 2 in this series. I really enjoy Sinclair’s books and this one is also terrific. I’ve given it 5 stars and highly recommend it.

I love the chance to return to one of my favorite fictional towns, Marietta, Montana, with a brand new series, new characters to meet, and old friends to run into once again. This time around we’re beginning the Montana Rodeo Brides series with The Cowboy Says I Do – and it is an emotional journey for Beck and Ash on so many levels.
This couple has been together for more than a decade, in love but only one is ready to settle down in one place and start a different life than living on the rodeo circuit. Unfortunately, Beck isn’t ready to leave the rodeo and is quite content with how things are and have been with his love, Ash. Outside circumstances are going to change their world as Beck’s grandfather decides to sell the ranch and move closer to his daughters. Beck and his two cousins aren’t ready for the ranch to go to anyone outside of the family so they’ve come up with a ‘bride challenge’ and these three men have a lot to learn about a woman’s mind… just sayin’.
My heart broke for Ash. She loves Beck, there is never any doubt about that, but she also wants a different life than what he chasing right now. It may have almost destroyed her but she’s broken up with the man she loves in the hopes of finding what she’s searching for and he cannot or will not provide. And Beck, well, one clueless cowboy is all I’m going to say. I liked Beck, don’t get me wrong, but he has some growing up and an attitude adjustment in his near future if he wants to save this relationship with the woman he’ll always love at his side. Add to the emotional mix, Ash is pregnant and Beck’s marriage proposal to do “the right thing” just isn’t enough for her now. She wants and deserves it all – and unless or until Beck can freely change his mind about the ranch, the rodeo life, or their relationship she’s starting a new life without him.
I enjoyed The Cowboy Says I Do, I always have a good time in this author’s various worlds. If you love to get lost in a story that feels as real as your neighbors down the street, or if watching a stubborn cowboy finally understand what the intricacies of love really involves, then this is a series you’ll want to get started on. Plus, Marietta, Montana. For those of us who adore anything, any story set here this one is a treat. How this small Montana town has grown over the years, and I’m loving every addition to the town’s legend.

With the bhangra music blaring from the back of the bright red Ford F-150 truck that was starting to lead the procession of men on a slow wind through the Denver hotel’s parking lot, Ashni Singh made a final adjustment on her cousin Reeva’s bloodred sari. “Sure you want to go through with this?”
she teased, barely keeping her voice grave, even after her years of performing in high school and college musicals.
“You have a better idea?” Reeva played along like she always had.
“There you are, cowboy,” his cousin Bodhi Ballantyne greeted him at the large sponsor tent where Beckett Ballantyne had been signing autographs and posing for pictures before the Panhandle Rodeo finals started.
A few carnival-style games had been set up outside the tent along with a roping demonstration.
Beck waved at the family he’d been posing with and checked his watch. He’d stayed fifteen minutes past his volunteer slot, and since another couple of rodeo cowboys had arrived, he thanked the coordination volunteers and stepped over the low white picket fence with fake floral arrangements and hay bales that had been set up for the family photos with the cowboy of their choice.

I really enjoyed Ashni and Beck’s story in The Cowboy Says I Do by Sinclair Jayne, book one in her Montana Rodeo Brides series. This heartbreaking, but beautiful romance story took me on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Ashni Singh and Beck Ballantyne have been together over thirteen years, since high school; with Ashni putting many of her dreams on hole to follow Beck around the country as he competed in rodeos. A misunderstanding is the impetus that pushes Ashni to break up with Beck, decide she’s ready to put down roots and build her own career. Learning she’s unexpectedly expecting has her determined to make a new life. It was difficult to read about how these two, who were so in love with each other, were hurting so badly; yet it was enlightening to their relationship through Ashni’s eyes. For Beck, since returning home to Marietta, Montana, nothing has gone right. His granddad, supported by his three determined daughters, announces he plans to sell his legacy ranch after the rodeo. Beck is lost and confused. It doesn’t help when his fun-loving, never take anything seriously, cousins create the Rodeo Bride Game; even knowing that Beck has the advantage with Ashni; except she just called it quit. What’s a guy to do except fight for what he wants; and he wants Ashni, as his wife.

Misunderstanding and Miscommunication. That's the theme. It's okay when you have nothing else to read or want some 'fluff' nothing.
It's sad, really, since this had the potential to be great.
heroine is POC and wants to be 'independent' after being in love with Hero since high school, following him around the rodeo circuit, and major pressure from her family since she's the only unmarried one. She 'breaks up' with Hero, but hours later is in bed with Hero. Again. And again. But she wants to stand on her own. I have to wonder, did she go to college and get degrees for the jobs she has? Wasn't she 'on her own' then? And she picks HIS hometown to 'be alone and independent'? Around HIS family and HIS friends? There is also no real interaction/scenes from her family, though they are talked about often. It's all HIS family.
Hero is marriage-shy because his mom had 4 failed marriages. Loves the heroine but doesn't want to marry her or settle down because he's in constant competition with cousins/brothers at the rodeo. I mean, this are supposedly almost thirty/thirty something people who speak and act like horny teenagers. Mom had failed marriages, but granddad didn't. His friends don't. Does he not trust the heroine and their love enough to see just bc mom failed doesn't mean he won't? But again, that isn't discussed or used as a plot device. It's just... the author says it, so believe it.
So an 'opps'. (Personal note: I have major problems with 'opps' having been one myself--and constantly told I was an 'opps'. The things that does to a person's psyche... well). I detest 'opps'.
Then a together again, broke up again, miscommunication again, sex again, broke up again, sex, misunderstanding---all quickly, painlessly solved,
So in a word: No conflict. So really, no story.

Sinclair Jayne’s The Cowboy Says I Do is the first story in her Montana Rodeo Brides series. The three Ballantyne cousins have always been as close as brothers, and twice as competitive. They’ve just returned home to Marietta for the Copper Mountain Rodeo, and to see their beloved grandfather. But everything is wrong! Their manipulative moms will be back in Marietta too. Their grandfather, a fixture in Marietta as steadfast as Copper Mountain, is talking of selling their family ranch. The same ranch that the cousins grew up on, and would retire to when their rodeo days are over.
As bad as all of this is, Beck Ballantyne has a much more tragic problem. The love of his life, Ashni Singh, his soulmate since high school, didn’t return to him following a family wedding. They’ve been inseparable for over a decade, now she’s taken separate accommodations, and is avoiding him. Every move he attempts to win her back, seems to hurt her more. She declares them broken up, and he seems helpless as his world dissolves around him.
The Cowboy Says I Do is a very powerful story. It’s in the same vein with Barbara Ankrum’s A Cowboy to Keep, Megan Crane’s Most Dangerous Cowboy, or Sarah Mayberry’s The Rebel and the Cowboy, or More Than a Cowboy. I consider that rarified company indeed. Though the cousins love to play games, when the heart is involved, it’s never truly just a game.

The Cowboy Says I Do (Montana Rodeo Brides #1) by Sinclair Jayne is the beginning of a fun competition between cousins to save the ranch that they considered to be their legacy. I wasn’t sure hoe these three thought that becoming engage would change their grandfather’s mind but it was fun to watch until it wasn’t. Not that I didn’t enjoy the story I so much did. However, it is difficult to see a couple that cares so much for one another to be hurting.
I expect angst and drama from Sinclair Jayne. That is exactly what you get as Ashni Singh quits her relationship with Beck Ballantyne. Then he decides to win her back. Have you ever seen a train wreck coming and yet all you can do is sit there and watch it play out and wonder if the wreck will be stopped in time? Ok so that’s how I felt about this book. Beck and his cousin's come up with this cockamamie idea in hopes to “help” their granddad, while the cousins seem more like brothers so you know they are up too no good, it leaves you wondering who's helping who. While I found this childish there antics were also kind of laughable. I liked Ashni she knew what she wanted and would not let anything stop her from getting there even a few detours. While at first I found Beck a bit self centered jerk (I think thats what the author was going for) he kind of worked his way up as we works to win over Ash with his fun and crazy ideas. I really did like this story overall it was light hearted and just makes you shake your head. There is adult content and may not be suitable for all but so fun. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sinclair Jayne’s The Cowboy Says I Do, in her new series, Montana Rodeo Brides sets the stage for a competition between cousins that’ll prove to be as entertaining as it is captivating…in this first book the bar is set pretty high with tension, secrets, strife, family drama, rodeo action, and of course romance…all this splendidness makes for one heck of a absorbing read.
It’s pretty near impossible to not develop an emotional attachment to Beck and Ashni, with their long dating history you’d think their journey would be a smooth one, but with the challenges they’ve created for themselves, and each other, their road to their HEA contains a few rough patches. Even after all their time together, it’s endearing to witness their lightbulb moments and growth.
This was definitely a book that was easy to loose myself in, I’m looking forward to what’s in store for Bowen and Bodhi.

Without any of the cousins settling down the ranch is no longer going to be their legacy. The Rodeo Bride Game is born out the cousins desire to keep the ranch in the family. First one to get engaged wins. They don't necessarily have to actually get married. Everyone expects it to be Beck and Ash. Little do they know that she has broken up with him to find herself and move on without waiting for Beck to want to marry her. Can Beck convince Ash that he wants to marry her for real and not just to win a bet? Good read.

Ooh! This is such a good story and so well told. I loved the way Ashni’s Indian heritage is woven into the story starting with the colourful wedding scene in the Prologue and following on with the pressure her family places on her to marry. I loved that Beck and Ash already loved each other as the story opened even though it was clear they both had work to do to make their relationship solid. The sexual tension between these two was tangible but it was the emotions each was experiencing that drove the story forward. On the fun side, the competition between Beck and his cousins Bodhi and Bowen brought plenty of smiles. Those boys sure know how to carry a cowboy swagger! For pure entertainment this book has lots to offer and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

A heartbreaking, but beautiful romance.
This book took me through so many emotions. Beck and Ashni have been together since high school. Ashni put her dreams on hold to follow Beck around the country as he competed in rodeos. What happens next is a misunderstanding that has Ashni breaking up with Beck. It was hard to see these two characters who were so much in love and both hurting so bad. But when Ashni breaks up with Beck and starts living her own dreams, Beck vows to win her back at any cost.
There is so much to love about this story. It is the first in a series and I can’t wait to get my hands on the books that will follow.

I really loved this book. The history between Beck and Ashni was powerful and I was rooting on them finding their way. The competition between cousins brought a fun and lighthearted aspect to the book and all of the characters were relatable. It’s a lovely romance but also provided a lesson to be learned, communication is always important. I cannot wait for the rest of The Rodeo Brides series as the author did a wonderful job of making the reader curious about the cousins and what obstacles they have to their happily ever after.

This book was a very emotional read for me. Beck and Ashni were a great couple until something came between them. Their story will take you on a journey that will have you reading late into the night. There are twists, there are turns and there is plenty of drama. There is also a beautiful romance story about two people that love each other but are unsure how to overcome their problems to make it work. I look forward to reading the next book in this series. At last, a book where honest conversation features prominently as the theme. While a huge proportion of romance novels use miscommunication as a plot element, most use sex to "resolve" the issues. Few if any focus on the importance of honest, open communication rather than sex. No wonder so many American marriages end in divorce and so many relationships fail. Since life often mimics art, kudos to Sinclair Jayne for writing a book that might actually give readers healthy ideas to strengthen their relationships.

The first part was a little hard for me to get into and toward the middle I was enjoying the story even though I didn’t really see how Beck and his cousins really thought they could change their grandfathers mind about selling his place by all of them becoming engaged but their antics were fun. And Ash’s and Beck’s love story with the twists it was taking was what kept me turning the pages. I was given an advance reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Not nearly as good as I thought it would be…
Dang—this book was really disappointing to me. The storyline was really borderline awful; the characters really needed ‘beefing’ up; the plot was really weak; and the only saving grace was the HEA. I still recommend you give it a read for yourself…you might like it!

A love of a lifetime
