Sophie, Hattie, and Owen stumble across an adorable cottage hidden in the woods in this eighteenth charming book of The Adventures of Sophie Mouse!
Sophie and her friends discover an adorable cottage hidden in the woods. And it seems as if no one lives there! The three friends each find something special to love about the little home, and soon they spend all their free time there. But one day, they discover that things have been moved in the cottage. Does someone live there after all?
With easy-to-read language and illustrations on almost every page, the Sophie Mouse chapter books are perfect for beginning readers!
Poppy Green can talk to animals! Unfortunately, they never talk back to her. So she started writing in order to imagine what they might say and do when humans aren’t watching. Poppy lives on the edge of the woods in Connecticut, where her backyard is often a playground for all kinds of wildlife: birds, rabbits, squirrels, voles, skunks, deer, and the occasional wild turkey.
With engaging illustrations on almost every page, loveable characters, and age-appropriate lessons on friendship, family, and hospitality, this story has earned a spot on our favorites list. And with easy-to-understand language, it is also perfect for children who are beginning to read.
The newest book in this charming series recently released. That makes for 18 books in this early chapter book series that is an all-time favorite for my almost 6 year old. I read them aloud to her, but they would also be ideal for newly independent readers since there are illustrations on every page spread, short chapters, and an engaging plot. Children above that reading level can definitely enjoy them as well.
In this new installment Sophie and her friends discover a little cottage in the woods that seems to be abandoned. They spend their extra time fixing it up for a family in need until something unexpected happens. This whole series has such a wonderful nature element to it and I think this one gives readers an extra urge for some forest exploring.
You can find this series and many others at the same level on my blog post of illustrated and engaging early chapter books: http://becausemymotherread.com/2021/0...
So cute! The friends find a hidden cottage that is really run down and looks abandoned. The parents know that it used to be a grandma squirrel that used to live there but must have left. The kids take it upon themselves to clean it up for a rabbit family who is looking for somewhere to live. They get cleaning and then grandma squirrel comes back! They all work it out and its sweet. I loved my kids seeing that people were doing altruistic work simply for the sake of others.
Sophie, Hattie, and Owen take a hike and discover a cottage in the woods they've never noticed before. It looks uninhabited, but they aren't sure. When Sophie mentions the cottage to her parents they think it must belong to the older chipmunk who moved to be closer to her grandkids. Sophie's mom also just heard the rabbit family's house was destroyed in the most recent rainstorm. So the family gets the idea that the kids can clean up the house and the rabbits could move in. But is the cottage really abandoned?
A sweet story about helpful kids with kind hearts and a touch of mystery. I love how these kids aren't afraid of a little hard work to help others. The resolution to this is very heartwarming. Hand this series to little artists, art lovers, and kindhearted kids.
When Sophie Mouse and her friends find a cabin in the woods that seems abandoned they offer to clean it up a bit. While cleaning it they meet the owner of the cottage and are worried they are not wanted by the owner.
Cute chapter book with sweet illustrations and lots of white space on the page to support new chapter book readers. Sophie, her friends Owen and Hattie, and her family are an adorable group of characters. My students will love this series!
I think I've read just about all of these books to my 7yo son. Such a sweet, imaginative series! This one was excellent. I read it to my 3yo son, whose attention span wasn't as long but who also enjoyed it.
Sophie Mouse is a character my 7year old loves. These are lovely light-read books that explore the themes of friendship, feelings and life in contexts children will likely be familiar with.
Sweet, gentle adventure story. Supportive sibling and friend relationships and an emphasis on teamwork. My 3 and 4 year old loved reading a couple chapters before bedtime.
