The Mercy of Demons

Rate this book
It started as a deadly game long before I was born
But when a bullet takes my memories and the life of my friend
I return to the one place that offers me safety
Only the monster that hunts me outside these gates has nothing on the demons inside them.
Their darkness holds me captive, drawing me in and stealing pieces of me I can’t afford to lose.
With no memory of my past and an uncertain future,
The girl they crave is just an illusion.
Love can be lethal but then so can I
And when the real me wakes up, it’s with fire in my blood and the taste of deceit on my tongue.
White lies and red flags blur the lines between justice and vengeance
But the game isn’t over till someone wins
Or until they beg for Mercy

Please be advised that this book may cause shallow breathing, exploding ovaries, and spontaneous disintegration of panties. As a result, all readers should be over the age of 18 and refrain from reading in public places.

Trigger warning: This book contains violence, dark themes, and some scenes that readers may find uncomfortable. As with the previous books in the series, this story offers up multiple love interests meaning our leading lady gets to have her cake and eat it too.

LOVE THIS SERIES.. HATE THIS BOOK

I have lived every single book in this series, but this one was terribly written. I hated the men, the way they treated Mercy. Scope was not it.. yuck.

4.5 "The Candy Shop" Stars

Mercy's story started so strong but then it felt a little bland. I'm so happy that at the end it picked up! It wouldn't have been a pity to have an anticlimactic ending in the series... I loved Mercy as the main heroine, she was another b@d@$$ character. The epilogue though left a lot to be desired and I can't wait to read the spin-offs!

Disappointed in myself for finishing this.

Should have DNF when they striped her clothes and tied her to a bed against her will and left her there to humiliate her and punish for hours. Should have DNF when they drugged her so they could move her and brand her. Should have DNF when they branded her. Should have DNF when one stopped s3x to go take a pic of her hymen bl00d on his p3nis. Too Stockholmy with no apology from MMCs. Oh and when she actually saves the day? She gets sexually punished. But it’s all okay bc she’s into it and wants to make her guys feel better. Idk. This one just was not for my brain. I think I’m done with the author if not for ever for sure for a while.

Just no. I really tried to like this book because I enjoyed the other ones in this series but it was too much. The men are extremely unlikable and Mercy should have run far and fast. Sad to have it end like this with this group.

My least favorite of the 6 book series.

This one was my least favorite of the six books series. It was more in the 2ish star category but rounded up it was the three.

I’m glad this is the end of the series because it was becoming too much of a spaghetti plot and the characters were becoming less likeable.

Really not a fan of the "relationship" dynamic in this one, if you could even call it a relationship. I didn't like Scope's actions and how Wizz and Kaz went along with it. I also didn't care to see Mercy letting them get away with it and actually enjoying it in some ways.

Candice saved the best for last!!!! I honestly had no clue this was going to be the last book in the series, but holy crap, what a way to go!! And all those glimpses of our favorite couples?! I die!!

Mercy is a straight up badass and is now tired with Sunshine as my favorite heroines in this series. She not only survived a horrific attack and the loss of her memories, but she is literally discovering who she is all over again. To make things even more difficult, her uncle (whom she has a vauge recollection of) is sending her to a sister MC CLUB to keep her out of harms way, and right away she attractions the attention of three totally different men: Scope (the psychotic one) Wiz (the smart one) and Kaz (the quiet one). Each man wants to own her, to possess her, to make her give into her darkest desires all the while keeping her safe. Their relationships are such a wild and twisted ride, but filled with so much love and devotion. Plus all the twists was just crazy!! And The Candy Girls?! I can't WAIT for their story!

I am so glad I stumbled upon this series last year, and Candice definitely has a fan for life now! I just can't recommend this series enough!!

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

Amnesia Sucks

I’d probably give this book 4.5 ⭐️ if I could.

This is the 6th book in a connected series of stand-alone stories, with an overarching plot. You don’t need to read the other books to understand this one, but it will certainly help you understand a few sections of the plot better if you do.

Mercy is a Kings of Carnage MC Princess. Her uncle Inigo is a member of the club and as her father died when she was very young her uncle stepped up to provide her with a father figure. As a result she spent a lot of time around the club. This is what pulls her into a bad situation with an enemy of the Club. Left for dead with amnesia it takes an act of faith to follow a clue and believe what the Club tells her.

To protect her she is sent to the Chaos Demons MC, where she will be hidden. She is assigned three protectors, one of which is Scope who is distinctly unhinged and decides that Mercy is ‘his’. The other two Kaz and Wizz get sucked into the situation to help dilute the Scope effect.

This book ties up a lot of loose threads of the story and as such, I feel like it tried to do a little too much. I also thought the whole amnesia part of the story was a little soap opera for my liking. It wasn’t really necessary to the plot except to provide a reason for Mercy’s original vulnerability when she’s a complete bad*ss. It also meant that the book was almost split into two halves, with me feeling connection with Mercy before she remembered who she was and trying to connect in the same way with a brand new character who had history and knew herself and her capabilities. It made the story a little disjointed to me.

However, as always this author writes a story that sucks you and and characters that make you smile. There is so much filth you will need to fan yourself, so don’t read it in public if you blush easily.

I’ll be sad to see this series end, but the author writes at the end of the book that there will be spin-off books with side characters from this series, so that makes me happy.

Last book in this amazing series

It's over, I'm not crying but this is one of my fave series ever. What to say...it's all happily for now as the universe will live on through side characters we have all grown attached to and seeing all their cameos in this one was so good. The mini epilogues at the back for each leading lady so we know where we are leaving them, it all so emotional.

Enjoyed Mercy's story and I have to say none of it played out in any way I expected, Candice totally kept me guessing on this one.

I loved the introduction of the Candy girls...kind of hoping for a series about all of them.

Bates still has my heart for fave psycho. No-one quite lives up to him, maybe King!

If you got here you read 1-5 so you know what you're getting a fun MC RH romance with an amazing heroine who is underestimated by the male of the species. Buckets of fun to relax into and enjoy, the whole series is amazing.

Not everyone is going to like this one. It's an acquired taste I think. It's not my taste but I don't really mind it.
Scope is a psycho that should probably be locked up. He's extremely possessive and wants to control her in every way. He literally binds their wrists together when they sleep because he is scared that she might run away. She didn't like him in the beginning or in the middle even, she didn't want anything to do with him. But he decided that she was his from the moment she saw him and everyone was just fine with it. Thats the thing that really annoyed me with this book. Plus I didn't really get to know Kaz and Wizz because Scope was such a big personality. So basically I liked the book but the fact that everyone was just fine with the stalker kidnapping psycho behaviour all of a sudden. Or even wanted to join in even though they were against it at first annoyed me a bit to much

This book is a really well written book.

Mercy is going to college and is a part of the Kings of Carnage/Raging Souls MC.

When she is with her friend Penny they are stopped and kidnapped, the Penny is mistaken for Mercy.
When Mercy wakes up she doesn't know who she is and what had happened to her. She had been shot in the head and dumped in the river. All they found on her was a business card to The Candy Shop and a set of key with a keychain the had The Kings of Carnage Custom Garage on it. When things at the hospital don't feel right one of the nurses helps her get out of there and helps her to get to the Kings of Carnage Custom Garage.

The only person she seems to know is Indigo. Once she tells them her story the reach out to The Chaos Demons to keep her safe and protected from the people that are looking for her.

Viper (who is the President of The Chaos Demons) puts Scope, Wizz and Kaz incharge of keeping Mercy safe. When they see her they all know that they want to make her theirs, their Old Lady.

This book is a rollercoaster of emotions from all involved.
I won't say what happens because i don't want to give it away, you will have to read it to find out. I* can guarantee you will love this story.

I have been obsessed with this series since I found Queen of Carnage sometime last year. I love Candice Wright’s books but this series is hands down my favorite!

The Mercy of Demons is book 6 in Candice’s Underestimated series, which is also the last book.

I laughed, I cried, and I rooted for Mercy to accept that her men were claiming her as their Old Lady.

Mercy is a fierce FMC even while suffering from amnesia

Scope(my absolute favorite), Kaz, and Wizz are straight out of my fantasies. Their hot 🥵 and possessive and downright crazy 😏

This book had me hooked from the very beginning and in my opinion, this book was the best way to end the series.

This is a definite must read!!!

Brilliant book. i have loved this series. I cant believe this series is over, but i cant wait to have the spin off and hopefully get to see some of our favourite characters.
Mercy is your typical college student out on a night out with her friend, but things go from bad decision to worse events when a case of mistaken identity derails her life and he ends up with her loosing more than her dignity. But the Carnage princess has more up her sleeve than just a piece of candy.
This was a brilliant read.

Spoilers

Unfortunately I trully hated this one.
A girl gets in trouble, MC is there to help out.
But instead of being protected by 3 guys assingned to her, she gets drugged, branded and a$saulted $exually. They even keep her tied up to a bed. Naked.
I'm fuming and want her to $lit their throat$ in the course of the story but of course we find out that they unknowingly act out on her darker fantasies and she loves it!
To add insult to injury FMC is a virgin, a genius and an assasin! All at the age of 19?
FFS!!!!!
Have mercy! (pun intended)

Two (out of three) main MMC are just sketched roughly. No depth, no character development.

Such a shame. The series is not bad and I enjoyed it so far but this...just no.

Mercy awoke in a hospital bed with no recollection of who she was or what happened to her. From what the doctors say she was shot in the head and that effected her memories. They would eventually come back if she gave it time but that isn't a luxury that Mercy has. She has to figure out why the police officer who is there to interview her is talking to someone on the phone about getting rid of the wrong girl and tying up loose ends. She must rely on the kindness of complete strangers in order to spring her from the hospital and take her to the one place she hopes to find answers: the Garage of Carnage that she has dangling from a keychain on her keys. What she didn't expect was to be welcome into the Carnage fold like family. That is until she sees her uncle and the memories start to trickle back in. But Carnage is the place for her to hide out so they reach out to their Chaos Demon allies to take her in. When she arrives she is put face-to-face with three Demons that take one look at her and decide she will be theirs: Kaz (the stoic quiet one), Wiz (the genius with a huge heart), and Scope (the feral psychopath). If she can survive these three though she can survive anything. Even if that something has all the backing of the United States government behind them.

I really liked that the series seemed to come full circle as far as the female protagonists went. The first book was Luna's and she was the obvious "I-don't-need-a-man-but-I'll-take-them" sort of girl. She was a badass through and through. Mercy is the same way. She doesn't need even her pitbull psychopath at her back to handle her shit, but she wants him there anyway.

I didn't know if I was going to like the book because reading from one of the brothers' niece's perspective felt like I was going to be reading from one of the club kid's perspectives. Kind of weird have reading about their parents, y'know? But surprisingly it worked out really well and I loved Mercy even more than Luna which is surprising since she was definitely my all-time favorite. I would be more afraid of Mercy in a dark alley than Luna honestly.

Most people really didn't like Scope from what I've read of some reviews. And while Wiz was my favorite, I do like those alpha males who are more grunting/growling caveman than civilized man. I think they all had this roles to play. I did like seeing Scope soften a bit with Mercy's love even though he never admitted to loving her from what I can remember. I would have liked if he had overcome his determination that he would never be able to love and actually say it to her (unless I missed him doing so).

I think the series could have probably ended here and it would have been tied up nicely with a big bow on top. I am curious what they are going to pull out for the next book.

Review: 5/stars & 4.5/spice
I loved this book, Candice’s ability to interconnect each story in this series is just amazing. The FMC’s are all badass women that may let the guys play their power trips in private but when it comes to throwing down they are just as tough and kickass as the guys. Just as with the other lady’s, I am in love with Mercy. The FMC is who I want to be when I grow up.

Mercy (the FMC) is a little different from the other old ladies. She grew up as a princess in the MC since her uncle was one of the leaders for Kings of Carnage. She has always been seen as the princess of the club, and now as a college student she has turned total badass just no one else knows this secret. However, while out with a friend they were car jacked. Mercy gets shot and left for dead in a river only to survive with no memory. This calls on Carnage to seek the help of the allies at Chaos of Demons MC; they put Scope, Wizz, and Kaz (the MMC’s) tasked with babysitting the broken Mercy, who has lost her memory. They thought it would be an easy job, but Scope soon has his eyes on her and claims her. Everyone else just needs to catch up to his crazy. Knowing the danger she is in and the extra security needed they set up a secondary club, where Scope becomes the Prez. Mercy is still trying to remember herself and does not want any of Scope’s crazy plans involving him, Wizz and Kaz becoming hers. However they take matters into their own hands by drugging her and branding her. She is their old lady and there is no getting out of it. When the memories come back she knows she must take out the danger that is a threat to her and her family. Secrets are exposed and trust is pushed to the limits, Mercy is not just a sweet college student, now MC “Old Lady”, she might be the craziest of them all.
I’m stopping there cause it would be a spoiler, but I highly recommend this book! I love the entire Underestimated series (6 books in total), it’s sad to see this series come to an end; but can not wait to see what spin offs are to come.

The Mercy of Demons: An Underestimated Novel Book 6 by Candice Wright is Mercy's story. Initially I really didn't care about her because she was such a minor character in the other books. In fact she is Indigo's niece and is just a pawn in a bigger game. It wasn't until I started the book that I remembered how I love this series. Mercy is kidnapped with her friend, shot in the head and dumped in the river. When she wakes up in the hospital she can't remember what happened.  Eventually she knows she isn't safe. For some reason she knows to go to the MC. There she is recognized and the story takes of from there. We get to learn who she really is as well as the guys who are to protect her. In the typical book style her 3 guys who claim her couldn't be more different. One in particular is just a wee bit crazy and an absolute hoot. Loved learning about the guys as well as learning about Mercy. Their interaction was crazy at times and had me laughing to the point of tears. With trying to keep Mercy safe while trying to wrap up all the players in the previous books who have had it out for the MC is quite the problem. Just an all around good story that was more than meets the eye. Woman empowerment at it's finest. Just one problem for me and that was King. He is still as mysterious as ever. Just a really good series. The 3 guys to 1 old lady is just the hottest thing. Love it. 4.5 stars for. Definitely need a refresher as to all the players in their respective roles. I really have enjoyed reading this author.  Look forward to more stories from her.

So I really liked certain aspects of this story. I saw several people didn't care for Scope, Wizz and Kaz's actions in this story. I loved them. I like the dark obsessive MMC and Scope fit the bill. I've read every book in this series with the expectation that the guys claim their woman and don't really ask her opinion on the matter. This book is no different.

I personally love reading dark reverse harem stories and this one was right up my alley. The only thing that I have disliked about this series as a whole has been just how outrageous some of the reveals are with how "strong" the FMC is. Like the first book I kind of rolled my eyes when it turned out she was the leader of a mercenary group. I didn't really like over the top stuff like that, so I wasn't a huge fan when Mercy was revealed to also be an over the top situation.

Overall, I still enjoyed this book and I really liked this series. I definitely went in with lower expectations so that I'd overlook some of the wild things that happened. I liked the characters even though I did feel like we often didn't get enough backstory for my liking.

What I liked most about this story is that we're finally starting to see progressive change in the MCs where women are allowed to be more involved. I actually reread this story twice now because I just love a psycho MMC. I reread Reign's story too for Bates. I've got a type, lol.

I cannot say enough good things about this book!! I am in love with the entire Underestimated Novel Series, but this is definitely one of my favorites!

Mercy finds herself in a predicament. In order to keep herself safe, she’s staying with the Chaos Demons. Now, if you’ve read any of this series, you know they’ve been through quite a bit of an overhaul, so are still figuring things out as a club.

However, Mercy, the lucky B***h that she is, gets claimed by the hottest men you can imagine. Not knowing who she is, or what happened to her, makes it very hard for her to know what she does, and doesn’t like, who she should and shouldn’t trust.

The men don’t give her much choice though. They’ve claimed her, and in doing so, refuse to let her get away. They do everything necessary to make sure she is safe, sometimes going a bit overboard. Lol

Then, her memories come back and she realizes she is way stronger than anyone thought possible. Those who harmed her better watch out, because I don’t think Mercy will be living up to her name any time soon…

This is an absolute MUST READ!!! But of course, I say that about all of Candice’s books BECAUSE IT’S TRUE!!!! Every single book of hers is absolutely amazing, and this one is no different!!

Secretive and Intense

Mercy's book is secretive and intense. Shot and dumped in a river, she awakes with no memory in a hospital. And that's just the beginning. Eventually she finds herself in the protective custody of a motorcycle club with a psychotic man and his two MC brothers in charge of her every move. It's claustrophobic.

I had a hard time with Mercy and the relationship she has with the three dudes watching over her. The guys are possessive in an uncomfortable way, but it's what you should expect in an MC book. Once I got over their domineering ways, I relaxed and enjoyed the book.

Mercy is a captive in a sense, but as the book progresses you see how she changes the men's rather old school thinking regarding women and their place in an MC world. Marcy is tougher than she appears though, and doesn't need these guys to protect her as much as they think. I love that she surprises them at every turn and that they all learn something from their rather messed up and spicy relationship.

It was a fun book and a nice end to the series. I'm looking forward to seeing what else pops up in this world in the future, because it's a fun one filled with all sorts of quirky characters, especially the fmc's. All the women are amazing. Loved this!

I'm kind of torn on how to review this book. It had some things I absolutely loved and other that just didn't really work for me. It did keep my attention and gave me my fix of growly possessive men with questionable morals. I know that lots of readers had issues with Scope but he worked just fine for me. The only issue I had is that his obsessive tendencies didn't seem to be unique to Mercy. I didn't really want to hear how he did the same thing to other women in the past. I guess he never wanted to keep them, so that makes it better. I really enjoyed Kaz as well, but I wanted more from Wizz. He just wasn't as present as the other two. I find that this can happen a lot with RH where it seems like there's a primary relationship or two and the other guys are just sort of there. Once we get to it, the book is super steamy with some interesting kinks. I wasn't a huge fan of Mercy. Some of her kick butt attitude and abilities seemed a bit far fetched, especially when she was able to go toe to toe with hardened bikers not to mention some pretty nasty criminals. Overall, this was a solid MC romance with a good dash of suspense that didn't overshadow the romance. If OTT growly possessive anti-heroes are your thing and you don't mind them crossing a line or two, this s the book for you.

Tying up loose ends!
Although not the last book in this world this is the last one featuring the FBI vs the MCs and boy is it a banger 😃😃
Mercy is Inigos niece and after a near death experience finds herself with amnesia and not knowing who she is 😣😣 a clue leads her back to Carnage who have a feeling there’s more to what happened and they know who’s behind it 😲 yet in the name of keeping her safe Mercy gets shipped off and pushed from pillar to post ☹️ finding herself with three guardians who don’t make it any easier 😠
Scope is a complete sociopath who does exactly what he wants rules be damned - but it comes from a place of love; Kaz can be just obsessive although balanced by his caring side and Wizz is a voice of some reasoning although he’s just as protective! 🥰 but what these guys don’t realise it that when Mercy’s memories come back she remembers exactly who she is….a killer with an serious attitude! These men better be careful 😄😄
There’s a great final showdown to wrap everything up in this!
Loved loved loved the mini epilogues for each of the women seen so far!

Just wow

Now...

If you haven't read this series then go back and start fro! Book 1. Yes, you can read these as standalone but honestly, getting the dynamic of all the groups and clubs etc

I can't begin to tell you how much I've loved the series, my fav fmc probably between Megan and Ava only because they had very dark pasts and their strength to get through it show how bad a as they truly are. I adore Kat, her book made me cry, because it's saw grief and if you have lost someone , you know how it feels. Luna my comedian her little comments made me LOL Reign, now I loved a woman!an who was able to handle a man's world and co!e out stronger... Mercy was probably my least favourite, not sure why BUT the ending, showing the little snippets off the club's coming together and the threat gone was something special! I

There is HEAT 🔥 in these books but also a plot that travels through the series and with possible men, all alphas and 🔥

I can NOT wait to read the books that follow some of the amazing side characters we got to meet and they ALL played a !massive part in this amazing series

I'm sad to see this series and but also glad the HEA for them all are rightly deserved

Well done Candice !!

Damn this is the last book in this series!! I would say it was saving the best until last but that would be a lie because every book in this series have been outstanding so this was just the cherry on top of the cake

As with all the books in The Underestimated Series theres dark and light in it. Mercy (FMC) is a strong-willed, kick*** character. Your heart cant help but feel fro her for the majority of this book. Murder attempts, amnesia and also having to contend with stubborn, hard headed bikers. Ah Scope??? Im not sure if i wanted to slap him silly, punch him, hug him of literally just swoon? Still Score, Kaz and Wizz were hot together thats for sure. I loved how Mercy was like two different characters in this book. The on at the start when she arrives at the MC and the one that slowly emerges throughout the book ultimately ending in one that knows her own mind and has mad skills to back it up. All the POV's at the end of this book had me tearing up a bit because its the end but it was a cracking way to end it all. I cant praise these books up enough. They are so good

Any chance that will see The Candy Shop Girls in the future??

The Princess of Carnage and Queen of Chaos

All the emotions. First off, I’ve loved every book in this series, but this was one I wasn’t sure I could finish. It’s beautifully written and has everything I love in it (sexy scenes, love, danger, and mystery). The only problem I had, was Scope. The way that he is and how he treats Mercy had me almost stopping. He loves her and only wants to protect her but it’s the way he does it that gets me. Let’s just say he’s a little TOO alpha male for me.
But honestly, Mercy’s story was amazing. You find out pretty quick that she is amazingly strong, since she survived a bullet to the head, but when she gains her memories back she reminds me a lot of Luna. She grew up in this MC world and knew that she needed to be even stronger then the men that rule that world. She truly is the “Princess of Carnage and Queen of Chaos” as she said herself.
The ending had me tearing up. I loved being able to hear from each of the 6 wonderfully strong women of Carnage and Chaos. Each of them have over come so many obstacles to end up in their happily ever afters.
I can’t wait to read about Luna’s brothers!!!

This is the 6th book and conclusion to this epic series, and in my humble opinion, this is the best to date. Mercy suffers a traumatic event which by a miracle she survives, and she is now suffering from amnesia, but this girl is fierce, and she comes out swinging and kicking. Mercy’s instincts tell her she is in danger, and she goes to the MC for protection, and 3-men who are psychotic are assigned to keep her safe. The chemistry between the characters is combustible and undeniable. This is a well written flawless emotionally charged story which is dark, raw, gritty, intense, intriguing, and with humorous crazy antics, secrets, and entertaining, which all leads to a steamy and riveting addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend. This author has done a phenomenal job in weaving this series, and this story deserves so much more than the 5 stars allowed! Be aware there may be triggers for some readers due to sensitive content!

This book picked up right where Crown of Fools ended. We see all our favourites again in this book while they fight the battle of how she got kidnapped in the first place. Of course, this is a RH so she does have three men who are also very present in this book. On brand, Mercy is a strong, bad ass woman who could save herself no problem but we don’t really see this side of her until the last 1/3 of the book. I’m finding the grouping (Mercy, Wizz, Kaz and Scope) not as memorable as previous books. I enjoy Mercy but Wizz didn’t become the person I thought he was from previous books and they didn’t spend a lot of time trying to make this work/believable she’d with them. “Me Tarzan, you Jane” vibes even though it was less misogynist in general, it was still the men are in charge. We also didn’t see Kat or her boys much after they left us with that bomb at the end of book 5 so still don’t know how that plays out. Again, yes it’s a standalone but you need to read all the books to know what’s really going on.

Reading this book was bittersweet. Mercy was an another incredible addition to The Underestimated series but after years of reading about these characters it was sad to say goodbye.

Mercy has to be my favorite heroine out of the bunch, right alongside Luna. Like our other leading ladies Mercy is tough as nails with remarkable strength and resilience, but I also love how intelligent and thoughtful she is and how she pushes back against anything she doesn’t feel is right. The guys were the perfect match for Mercy and Scope may be the most remarkably complex character Candice has written. From his overly obsessive nature to his progressive thinking regarding the role of women in the MC, Scope had me falling hard and fast!

In addition to the amazing characters, Mercy of Demons gives us an action packed plot, ending the reign of terror that has plagued these characters over the course of the 5 books in the series. We’re also introduced some intriguing new characters that hopefully we’ll see more of in future books(I seriously want to be a Candy Shop girl!).

Candice gives us a truly satisfying close to the series with short epilogues featuring each of the couples. I loved revisiting old friends and meeting new ones in this series. If love MC romance and haven’t read started this series pick up Queen of Carnage today!
