Enjoyed some tidbits - particularly the stories for characters like Marluxia, Demyx, Larxene, etc - but found some of this a bit repetitive and superfluous. Score for having Strelitzia talk about "she" (Player). Combine that with Chi using he/him for Player, Player is genderfluid and nothing can stop me (for now).

I got this today. I have read the whole thing. I love kingdom hearts. It has all the characters and goes over their stories which is amazing.

Kingdom Hearts can be a very confusing game series but this book makes it so much easier to understand. It's well laid out with easy to follow information. I really liked the little stories that accompanied each section, they were well-written and improved upon already established characterisations. For several characters such as Saïx, it gave you an insight to the character that you don't necessarily get in the games, I really liked it. Overall, a really handy guide to the characters, worlds, and story of the Kingdom Hearts series.

***after finishing***
I thought I would remember more than I actually did. But reading this did convinced me of something: the story is bonkers as hell. It's super convoluted and even with this book I still didn't get all of the characters motivation or why they were mentioned at all.

I'm to have had this but I wouldn't recommend this to everyone. Only if you have a strong attachment to the games. Then it's worth it and even then it's questionable.

WARNING lots of nostalgic rambling ahead

My partner is playing the Final Fantasy 14 MMO and I was coming into the room and saw a gorgeous cut scene. After it was done I asked: "What was it about? It looked very intens."
My partner looked at me and said: "I want to tell you because I'm really enjoying myself but I don't know if I can because when I think about I don't know if it actually makes sense."

I have such good childhood memories of playing this game with my brother on a playstation 2. I can't remember whose playstation it was but it was unusual because until that moment we were a strictly Nintendo household. We did play another Disney game on a Sega but both Sega and game were lost. I come from a family that has always played games together. Apparently that was very unusual but to me it created memories that still make me smile after all these years and heartbreaks.

But if you ask me what the game was about... no idea. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Helemaal niks. The ones you could play on the Gameboy baffled us to no end. Even after finishing the game we still didn't know what was the point.

The same thing happened with Final Fantasy X. It was my favourite game for a long time but I could never remember the story line.

What both games did give were such engaging worlds that you couldn't stop yourself from loving them. Riku, Sora and... Kai? were great protagonists and I even ended up liking (not loving) Mickey Donald is great no matter the medium.

So I'm glad I got this and I'm curious if after reading it I can finally tell what the game was about.

It's also a bit bittersweet that I'll never be able to share it.
