A GUIDE TO INSPIRE, INFORM, NOURISH AND NURTURE YOU AND YOUR BABY'S JOURNEY TO FOOD.
Milk to Meals is a beautiful hardcover book containing almost 300 pages. It is packed with insights and tips on making the transition from ‘milk’ to ‘meals’ one of ease and fun, whilst knowing you will be setting up your baby’s eating habits and delicate digestive system the best way possible.
Nourishing the first 24 months has a profound impact on a child’s health and eating habits in the future. Nutritionally speaking, these are the most impressionable years of life and it’s critical to understand which nutrients your little one needs for optimal growth - this is where we step in!
‘Milk to Meals’ will be your guide every step of the way, providing evidence based information regarding transitioning from mama's milk, advice on choosing a feeding method to suit your family, navigating the top allergenic foods, which nutrients to focus on to meet your baby’s nutritional needs and when to incorporate certain foods in their diet in the most mindful way (plus much more!).
This book also contains 80+ nutrient-dense, whole-food, nutritionist-approved recipes so that you can put your new found knowledge into practice! The recipes are a mix of baby-led weaning finger foods, as well as puree options to suit any feeding style. The book includes age-guides on when we would recommend each food group, and whilst the recipes are aimed towards babies, they have also been created with feeding the whole family in mind (because who has time to make more than one meal!)
Our hope is that the information in this book will provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to make the best decisions for your baby's introduction to solids. That it will teach you how to nurture their digestion system, meet their nutritional requirements, allow them to develop an adventurous palate and set them (and the whole family) up with good eating habits that will hopefully stay with them for life!
If you have a baby about to start solids, this is the guide book you NEED. It is filled with evidence-based information about the nutrients your little human needs, as well as a tonne of recipes to help you get those goodies into them. With different info/recipes to suit your feeding technique (BLW & purées), and your baby’s stage of eating, you’ll feel confident and excited to get started. I get it, starting food can be overwhelming… But after reading this I can honestly say that I now feel so much more confident and inspired to start solids with our little Max… and I LOVE watching him try new foods, its so much fun! All the information is presented in a beautiful and easy-to-digest (pardon the pun) guide, and has made my food preparation a lot more mindful and meaningful knowing I am making healthy and nutrient dense foods for our growing boy.
The quote on the front of the book is spot on! “A guide to inspire, inform, nourish and nurture you and your baby’s journey to food”
*Milk to Meals* by Luka McCabe, the creator of *Boob to Food* in Australia, is an incredible resource for first-time parents navigating the world of baby nutrition. With expert guidance and practical advice, this book offers clear and accessible information on introducing solid foods to babies. The recipes are simple, nutritious, and versatile, making them perfect for both babies and adults to enjoy, which is a huge bonus for busy families. Luka’s approach combines her professional expertise with a personal touch, making the book not only a great guide for feeding babies but also a time-saving, family-friendly solution for anyone looking to introduce healthy meals. Highly recommended!
How disappointing to make such a disgusting post about kids growing up in housing commission and instead of learning and taking accountability, apologising and educating yourself, when people kindly point out your insensitive and problematic comment you delete and block them all and don’t apologise/reflect. Not the person I want to be supporting and will be spreading the word. Was a big fan and realise people make mistakes but this is gross.
Milk to Meals is an excellent overview of all things feeding babies. Its packed full of great theoretical info as well as practical guides. It has a clean, simple layout and communicates in a concise manner. Many recipes rely on ingredients I’m not familiar with… but I think using this book in combination with some other cook books will great.
If you are a stay-at-home mom who doesn’t work outside the house and has immense disposable income and hours each day to invest in preparing your toddler’s food, then buy this book. If you’re anyone else, don’t. It’s completely impracticable. The recipes in this book take hours to make and your toddler probably won’t like most of them.
Loved this book! So much great advice based on evidence when starting solids, especially the allergen guide.
Some of the ingredients are a bit weird and not my everyday, so it takes a bit of effort and creativity (sardines, liver, bone marrow, sauerkraut, kefir) but I love the nutrient dense approach to feeding and nourishing bubs.
A simple, nicely-designed primer on how to approach the introduction of food to baby, with nutritional and safety considerations included. Destined to be a go-to for us I’m sure — an excellent gift (which is how I received it).
An excellent nutrition based approach to introducing solids, packed with recipes to boot. I've made a ton of broth and the risotto so far. I have also been enjoying their 'Boob to Food' podcast.
Found Luka because of Instagram and purchased her book as I had no idea what I was doing. I love how she breaks everything down and explains how AND why with introducing foods to your bub. The recipes are pretty good (some are a bit too much for me!) but I will definitely keep referring to this book for a LONG time to come.
