Book Review: Kalaya Tasmai Namah by Kowshik
Kowshik’s Kalaya Tasmai Namah is a mystery thriller that attempts to blend suspense with supernatural elements. As his second book, it’s evident that the author is still exploring the genre. While the premise has potential, the execution falls short, making the suspense predictable. The killer is identified early on, which removes much of the intrigue and reduces the impact of the story’s twists and turns.
The inclusion of supernatural elements adds a different layer to the narrative, but they feel underdeveloped and don’t contribute significantly to the thrill. On the bright side, Kowshik’s writing has improved compared to his earlier works, and his attempt to refine his craft is noticeable. However, when compared to his outstanding Ondu Kopiya Kathe, this book feels dull and lacks the same gripping storytelling.
At just around two hours of reading time, Kalaya Tasmai Namah is a short and quick read. While it may not be a standout in the mystery genre, it could still appeal to readers looking for a light thriller with a mix of the supernatural. Those who enjoyed Kowshik’s previous work might appreciate his growth but may also find this one less engaging.
