I absolutely love this series! And I highly recommend it if you like erotica sci-fi books. There are horror elements and monster erotica elements.
I would suggest not to read the spoilers and try to guess yourself what kind of shifter Hysteria is.

I enjoyed this one more than the last one, and I'm glad I decided to read it.

I'd read a review somewhere saying that the hero and heroine were awful to one another and that the hero cheated on her after he'd met the heroine. I'm not certain we read the same book? Because I went into this one expecting that and it didn't happen.

Hysterian is a weird lil peanut of a hero. I did like the whole 'body covered with venom' thing and how it affected their relationship (maybe I'm a weird lil peanut of a reader). They do have a traditional HEA and if y'all like your sex scenes a little freaky, there is one spot where he

Overall this is a fun, creative series and I'm sad I read all of them already.

Venomous poison!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😍🥰😁😋

The heroine: Alexa - she had known for years that the cyborg named Hysterian killed her father. She grew up on the planet Elyria, in the slums, and she got degree in space systems technology, space law, and ship management, which not many women do. However, she knew that was the best way she might get a chance to enact her revenge against Hysterian, and when an opportunity came up to be one of his crew members on the EPED ship he captained, she jumped at the chance.

The Hero: Hysterian - he is a cyborg shifter. His other form is classified, and he actually doesn’t change into another form. When he was created, the scientists spliced his genes in such a way that he is both animal and man at the same time. His skin secretes a poison that is deadly to humans and other alien races. During the war he wasn’t used as a warrior, his specialty was getting information in any way he could. He specialized in torture, and he was good at his job. Now he is working for Nightheart and the EPED.

The Story: Alexa spends much of her time trying to find out Hysterian’s secrets because she wants to find a way to kill him. While doing so, she is caught a few times and Hysterian becomes interested in her, despite her dyed black hair, which he hates because he can smell the odor of the cheap dye. Hysterian finds himself making up reasons to go down to the second floor to see Alexa and find out more about her. He tells himself that it is because he is a cyborg and they feel the need to know everything that is goin on around them, but he feels it might have a different reason.

I liked the fact that Hysterian is not only a nearly indestructible cyborg, but that he was so dangerous. All he wants is a way to cure himself of his poisonous attribute so he can touch someone else, especially a female. I was actually surprised when I found out what kind of DNA had been spliced into him. Though I had a few guesses beforehand, I didn’t guess what it was. I thought maybe some type of venomous octopus, or jellyfish or maybe even a Komodo dragon.

One thing I didn’t like was the fact that though Hysterian wanted Alexa and couldn’t get her out of his head, he kept on about her not being his type. He had an idea in his head about the kind of woman he wanted, and Alexa didn’t fit that fantasy. So, he figured he would have fun with her in the meantime until the better thing came along. He also didn’t have a high opinion of why she might be attracted to him.

“It may be a while before he found his perfect woman. Having Alexa around to enjoy in the meantime would make the wait immensely more tolerable. She would get whatever it is she wanted from him—if it was a pay raise or a promotion she’s after—and he would get his practice on her.”

They didn’t have the burning hatred for Hysterian like she did. They didn’t have a history with him.

I unexpectedly quite enjoyed this one. Let's be real I only picked this up so I could finish up the series. The above quotation really set the scene for page 1 and brought a level of intensity to the narrative. I am not sure what to call it but Hysterian’s “power”

Alexa Dear was an okay heroine. We knew her hatred of Hysterian and motivation for joining the crew from the first chapter, but a lot of info was withheld for no reason since we were in her POV. She has an interesting role on the ship and doesn’t immediately fall for the male lead which is a bonus. I want tension and resistance to attraction.

Overall, not the best in the series but pretty good. I was so pumped for Hysterian’s story and this somewhat paid off. Earning a rating of 3.75 stars . I’ll leave you with a quote that I adored.

She didn’t need to kill him to destroy him. He practically handed her the keys to his ruin. He’d told her everything. She’d turned everyone against him and stole his metal heart right from his chest. If she thought she was going to get away with it and live, she had another thing coming.

I really enjoy reading this authors cyborg books! She writes the best cyborg romance books, her cyborgs are so different from the other books I have read.
This book is about Alexa a strong heroine and the gorgeous Hysterian cyborg. She is working on his ship and it will make her revenge easier, but not everything always goes as planned.
Hysterian is a dark and handsome cyborg, he has secrets, painful ones. So he Alexa are attracted to each other and it makes for an interesting, addictive and steamy book! There’s so much action, angst and I loved how this book ends! If love sexy and action packed cyborg books then this book is for you!

Okay. I'm back in the cyborg shifters world and yessssss. They're slightly off-kilter and wild amounts of fun and I am so here for that. Also, people end up dead around them a lot and I find their casual ability to kill to be, well, refreshing. Ruthless metal killing machines are my things, I guess.

Anywho. This time around we have Hysterian and his outside-of-normal abilities. He's as much of a hot mess as the other cyborg shifters are and I'm okay with that. And then we have Alexa who is 100% ready to take out the cyborg who killed her father and is 100% certain she's not going to survive doing it. Which makes things a little complicated when the two of them start catching heart eyes around one another.

But things are rarely straightforward in the cyborg world and they have a whole lot of hoops to jump through before they can find their happy place. There's Hysterian's ability and Alexa's half-truths and need for vengeance. Yup, these two have to work for their HEA and figure a whole lot of things out.

I'm still hardcore digging these cyborgs and their ladies. They're all dealing with a whole bunch of things, not the least of which is keeping their beasts locked down enough not to hurt the people they care about. I feel a full-series re-read heading in my direction in the future. *thumbs up*

2.5 stars. My least favorite of the series. Hero is a yellow poison dart frog who can’t shift. His tongue can leave his mouth and go a distance...that’s not sexy but weird in my book. The Heorine’s last name is Dear and that too made the story clumsy when crew members are calling her Dear. She is half human and half alien and refers to herself as a half-breed (cringe) and hysteria worked for a mob boss and killed Alexa’s dad so she is on Hysteria’s ship to revenge kill him. So not exactly romantic set up.

They have this weird courtship and in one sentence she’s thinking she hates him and the next sentence she loves him...wait...what? 🧐 and this book has strange, awkward sex scenes.. He secretes poison and toxins so his skin can’t touch hers or risk killing her...so he wears a stretchy latex suit (giant condom? Was this written tongue in cheek?!) And after the first sexual encounter he licks her virginal blood off the bedsheets. Ummm 🤢

Overall, this was totally weird. Hysteria was creepy and overly possessive and just cray cray...nothing going on as a background plot which made the story drag and the “romance and sex” just bizarre.

I did not like the hero. He was an ass. He went to a brothel while he was pursuing Alexa.  After leaving he immediately screws her her.  She was a virgin and after he popped her cherry, he licked the sheets.   Ewwwww

I liked it but I liked book 2 the best so far.

My main problem is the heroine kept hiding what happened in her past from the hero. A conversation would have been better if it hadn't happened at the end of the book.

Hero has the DNA of a golden dart frog. So he can't touch anyone without poisoning them. He can control how much poison but he can't make it less deadly.

So the hero has to touch the heroine wearing a very thin full body suit. At the end of the book, his poison gets fixed so he and the heroine can touch.

Nice Surprise

I remember first reading about Hysterion and wondered when we would get his book. I also thought we would be getting a heroine in the same situation as Alexa due to a character we met in Cypher's book. I really liked this book and thought it was a pretty quick read. Naomi Lucas is one of my absolute favorite authors and will always be an automatic read for me. I highly recommend you read this series or any one of her amazing books!

Dark Cyborg Romance

Naomi does that dark hero so well! Hysterian was right up there with my other favorite hero in this series Gunner (sigh). This series is worth reading if you like a little bit of scary sci-fi mixed with your romance. Highly recommend!

This was a hot mess

Each of the stories in this series have been delightfully different. From barbarian to full tilt adventure, sweet love stories to impulse control lacking reckless. The tales were complete in themselves inside the larger backdrop
This one is a bit of a horror story. I had trouble even liking the MCs, much less the torment they subjected themselves to. It fits into the larger multitale but read at your own discretion

Well this one had me surprised with how much I liked it. I really couldn't decide whether I wanted to give this a 4 or 5 star rating but I settled on 5 as in the end I felt overall I was very happy with it. I think my one big gripe with the book is a bit dumb but it bugged me that the female mc's last name was Dear. Conversations where others referred to her as that just sounded so weird.

I missed that from other books, plus his animal was an odd choice but it kind of worked, but just wasn't as exciting as the others. Still I liked his character.

Last hope

This is the third one I’ve read by this author, trying to find something redeeming and this is strike three. Firm opinion with this one about her stance on strong heroines (doesn’t like), redeeming qualities(no point to them) and character development (flat). Women are sex dolls and males are uninspired. If you want satisfaction, a porn site will do, with less aggravation.

Secrets and secretions

Poor Hysterion was just effed from the get go. Alexa was too. This book had the angry assassin and rather clueless cyborg in space together. Hysterion wasn’t a good guy, but he had more of a reason than many of the others for being the way he was. Alexa was confusing to me at times, but her storyline worked out in the end.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: murder, accidental OD, dubcon (not MCs), grief

4&1\2 terrific🌟's for Dark Hysteria 🐸 🌟💖🔥

These Cyborg shifters have the most interesting characters and storylines. I like Naomi Lucas' whole take on cyborgs its different and very engaging. In book 8 we get Hysterian's story we met him at the end of the last book covered from head to toe in a form fitting body suite that is absolutely essential to his characters story. He has a dark past and like most of these stories it feels like PTSD that many veterans coming home from war face. He had a horrible time in his life and he turned off his feelings until one day he realized what he was doing and new he had to try again. Night heart gives him hope and he in return he becomes one of Night hearts Operatives. He thinks all will be fine until he meets Alexa his new crew member and part not the science team. Alexa has been obsessed with Hysterian for over a decade. He killed her father and she wants revenge she ahs studied him and just wants one opportunity to make him pay. What she doesn't count on is her obsession Turing to attraction. As she lives and works on the ship she learns more about cyborgs but especially hysterian and she realizes maybe what she thought she knew all these years was not so black and white after all. Their relationship starts off rocky and stays that way for most of the book danger, lies and fear hold them back until love changes everything! If you like the series you like this installment. Totally recommend🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥

A good read and romance for Hysterian

I am reading the series and this is one of my favorites. It seems the author is balancing the Sci-fi and the romantic story better. I really like Hysterian in this book. He redeemed himself from the last book with Zeph and Hector Cyborgs. Nightheart is too much! How does he know everything? I digress. Hysterian wants help with his Cyborg-Shifter issues and Nightheart gets Hysterian to sign a contract to work for him, of course. As Nightheart is planning all this he comes across a female who will be perfect for Hysterian. He is an alpha male and many times a demanding jerk who can kill with his touch. Everyone knows that he is dangerous. Alexa is on a quest to avenge her father’s death. Ever since it happened she has changed her life and path to eliminate the person who killed her father. Even though it’s an impossible task. That is why she finds herself on Hysterian new ship. The storyline is good and interesting until the climax around 85 percent mark where the reality of this world is just thrown out the window. I am disappointed only in the climax because it’s unrealistic to this story. Because all you can think is why didn’t Hysterian just grab Alexis before she walked in the Dimes Club? Or have one of Rafael’s guy alert him so he could grab Alexis, before Rafael put a claim on her? That scene at Dimes was too much of a stretch and distracts the reader from enjoying the couple’s ending together. Read On!

Good

This is the eighth book in this dark sci-fi romance series, this time featuring Hysterion and Alexa.
It takes place a few months after the events in the previous book in the series, but only mentions those characters in passing which means this can be read as a standalone (though it is best when read as part of the series).

Hysterion is the one responsible for the death of Alexa’s father. She has spent her adulthood preparing for revenge, and now she has her target in her sights.
Hysterion is bigger and more attractive than she had thought, and life in close proximity makes her see him just a little differently.

This is a dark sci-fi romance because it touches on darker themes. The hero is more antihero, being a ruthless warrior who isn’t afraid to kill.
The heroine is painfully naïve, a condition of growing up where and how she did. She has a plan, but never really thinks it through much!
The side characters are interesting, though I have to say the male locust was the one that fascinated me most!

An enjoyable trip into the seedy side of space, and back into the world of the cyborg shifters!
Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi romance on the dark side.

I've read better in this series and the main problem is Hysterian. He's a certifiable mess. The relationship between him and Alexa never really makes sense and for most of the story, he's all over the place, thinking one thing, then doing another or telling Alexa something and not following through. At least there were some redeeming supporting human characters for a change!
It was still very readable and I enjoyed it, not wanting to put it down, and I'll still be looking to read more in the series.

I absolutely loved this book. It was everything you want from a Sci-Fi cyborg shifters book : the dangerous and possessive anti-hero,the mystery of what hides under his nano suit, the heroine bent on revenge and the over the chart chemistry between them. This book has great action scenes and steamy ones that will grab you and suck you into their story. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book and this series.

Amazing, intense, sexy, WOW.

I don’t know how this author does it, but I swear, EVERY SINGLE BOOK IS MY FAVORITE. There were definitely parts of this book I did not love, and some parts were brutal and I bawled. Other parts were amazingly sweet, and others still really freaking sexy. The Hero is definitely not your average Hero and Alexa was a completely naive bad a$$. Overall— FABULOUS story.

Loved it!

I have loved every book so far in the Cyborg shifter series, some more then others. This one is definitely towards the top of the list. I loved watching Hysterian change towards Alexa through the book and vise versa as well as their relationships with the rest of the crew.
I really hope there is still many more cyborg stories coming from Ms. Lucas cause she does not disappoint.

Excellent book!

This book was perhaps a little darker than the previous books. Hysterian is a strong Alpha who is very demanding. Alex's soul purpose in her life since her father died is to kill Hysrerian. Somewhere the lines blur. This book contains death, violence, and plenty of steam!

This is a tasty slightly dark romance, an enemies to lovers story,There is nothing soft or gentle about Hysterian. He's all hard edges and raw need held together by strained control with a cloak of life threatening danger. A thrilling, adventure, sci-fi romance. A tasty story, a great page turner. This reader couldn't put it down or read fast enough.

Loved it. My favorite so far.

I fell in love with the first cyborg shifter even if he was a spider. Since then I have had hits and misses but the books have all been nice reads. But I have to say this guy got to me. Kills for you and constantly gives you gifts. You are his world. He's just so cute even with his deadly anger.
