Morpho: Anatomy for Artists #6

Anatomía Artística 6: Manos y Pies

Rate this book

This is an excellent resource for those who are doing figure drawing. The hands and feet are some of the trickiest parts of the body to draw. The author breaks these parts down into shapes and discusses the bone, muscle and vein structures of these parts. The anatomy vocabulary is a bit tough at first, but it is well worth learning the anatomy of these parts in order to draw them well.

Wygodnie zszyta i kompaktowa ta część.

I actually have Netter's.
I went through Netter's but this...is a godsend in it's own way because well, it blends the anatomy that I know and how it actually looks from the outside, when it moves.

But as snailord says, just draw, then you'll see what you need to improve.

Ah, hands and feet, the artist's nemeses! This was one of the first Morpho books I bought, because I always struggle to draw the darned appendages, especially feet. Like all the books in Michel Lauricella's series, it's full of excellent anatomical sketches and diagrams, breaking down the different forms to help artists better understand the workings of the body.
I appreciated especially that his comprehensive drawings and notes extended to the legs and arms themselves, exploring the bone structure and musculature beneath the surface of our limbs and how that translates into drawings. Anatomy is always easier to figure out when you have some understanding of all the components. While hands and feet can be complicated (so many little muscles, tendons and variety of movement!), in this Morpho collection, they're explained with simplicity and ease.
Definitely a recommendation for any artists out there who like drawing people!

Small (nearly pocket-sized) reference for artists; lots of angles and images that break down the most difficult body parts to draw.
