When Piper Dunner won season 7 of the fictional reality talent show, American Star, she was suddenly launched into superstardom and was poised to a begin promising singing career. Then it all crashed down around her. This book begins ten years later when she seemed to have recovered a somewhat normal life. This suspenseful novel follows what will be the most trying time of her life yet.

Psychological thrillers are the most difficult books to write reviews for. If you allude to anything beyond the first chapter, you include spoilers. If you only tell what happened in the first ten pages, you sound like you didn't read the book. There are just so many twists and turns in a good thriller, that you are constantly surprised.

I'll just say that this book was an excellent read for anyone who likes the genre. I absolutely did not see the end coming. I suspected everyone in the novel at some time or another. In fact, when I was close to 90%, I was sure I had it figured out and went in a completely wrong direction. At that point, there was only one character left that I had not suspected, so I was sure it was him. I just could not put this book down.

Thank you, CG Twiles and BookSirens for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

To say about this book, it was meant to a psychological thriller, but it didn’t meet up to the mark. The first chapter of the book had piqued some interest in me, but as I read through the book, it felt very repetitive. The same incident was repeated in so many ways, and in many chapters, at one point I just felt the urge to skip the content.
The story and the plot were good, if had been combined with a good narrative, maybe this book had been much more interesting than it is now. Even the incidents of the mystery felt repetitive, I’ve got so fed up with such repetition.
The mystery was somewhat guessable, bu the author has successfully made us to think in a quite few different ways and dodge through the real culprit. Only in the last is that we get to know the real reason and the culprit behind.

Now coming to my rating : out of 5 stars star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cover : attractive ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Title : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot : a good one but not that much ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Writing quality : I was a bit disappointed here ⭐️⭐️
Character development : ⭐️⭐️
Originality : ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Overall : my overall rating out of 5 stars would be a 2.5 stars, so rounding it off to 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️.

"There are two lines human beings live with and manage to mostly wall off from their consciousness before suddenly finding themselves near the line: their own impending deaths, and the desire to kill another human being."

The Story: A decade ago, Piper Dunner was the last star standing, emerging as the America Star winner. After a brief post-Star success, she had a series of disasters and now lives a quiet life with a baby on the way. However, she might get a second chance at success again when she is asked to audition to be the judge on the show's reboot. Soon after, she received the first threatening letter telling her that her downfall was engineered under the order of a powerful cult member who had a put a curse on her.

My thoughts: Cult and curse in a plot?! I'm here for it! This turned out to be a really entertaining and suspenseful story and I enjoyed it!

The plot was well done and I think we all could relate when it comes to curses whether you believe it or not. So that was really interesting!

The reality TV setting was refreshing as this was the first time I read such setting. This story is told from Piper's POV with flashbacks from their competition days. It was interesting reading their preparation for the competition, the wild parties, and so forth. I think it was well-done.

The characters are well-written as well and it seems that anyone can be the perpetrator here. I did guess whodunit but I do not know the reason. When it was revealed, I think it is clever and sinister!

In a nutshell, this was a great and twisty thriller and I am looking forward to reading more of this author's work!

I’ve never been a fan of reality TV but understand the ups and downs of fame & how it can affect people. As for luck or coincidence, we’ve all had days when we feel that we’re cursed because things just aren’t going our way.

All together this makes for an exciting premise. The tragedies of fame, complete with rivalries, greed, love and betrayal.

Throw in some shady characters with a lot to lose or gain and C.G. Twiles is onto a winner.

Everyone in the story is suspicious, because fame is a fickle friend and everyone reluctant to trust each other... but when the conclusion is revealed, the motive isn’t quite what it seems.

Characters are well-written and relatable, developing nicely throughout the book. None is overhyped or too dramatic, and they are believable and likeable - which make for a welcome change!

This was an excellent quick read (I read it in one setting of around 2 hours) and I really enjoyed how the story was put together... although I took off half a star for guessing the perpetrator!

The Last Star Standing by CG Twiles too everything I love in a book and blended it together. It had reality music competition. It was a thriller. It kept me guessing. I loved it!

5/5 stars

Piper won American Star season 7, the biggest season the show had in its 10 year run. So she should still be extremely famous and wealthy 10 years later, right? Wrong. After a string of bad look, including damage to her vocal cords, the passing of her mother and an apartment fire that destroyed all of the music she had written for years, she’s faded into almost nothing. At the 10 year anniversary of her win, she starts to receive threatening letters alluding to someone being the cause of her misfortune, and threatening her and her unborn childs life.

I read this book in 4 hours. The writing was beautiful. The characters were so fascinating. I loved Piper, Hayden, Jojo, even when a character was creepy at times and worrisome. They were all so unique you couldn’t help but point the finger at every single character in this book. You also have to wonder, is Piper crazy?

The writing style in this book was so well done. It was so easy to speed through. The mystery and the thriller aspects blended so well with an every day Hollywood story. I couldn’t have guessed the ending! Amazing plot.

If you liked Daisy Jones and the Six, the Unraveling of Cassidy Holmes, or if you like a good thriller with an ending you don’t see coming, I highly recommend this one!

I love this story. The whole time of the book was stunning.

I dream and cry with Pip. I hated and loved.

After winning the iconic American Star talent show, she lives a nightmare when a lot of bad things happen. Then, after ten years, he finds someone to start a family ... but nothing is as it seems. It’s complicated and mysterious again. He sets out on a journey to discover what really happened. Are the curses that happened to her real?

We watched you ... We conceived your downfall.

This was such a twisty thriller! I was unable to put it down and finished it in a few hours. The plot was something I don't typically see with thrillers but I found myself really enjoying it. I also like the diverse cast of characters and how the novel transitioned from different points in Piper's life. I will definitely be reading more by this author and overall enjoyed this read! A modern context for a mystery which is classically clever. The plot is strong and well paced but what I really liked was the writing style, which was smooth, well paced and with thoroughly believable dialogue.

The Last Star Standing by CG Twiles. Thanks to the author for the gifted copy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Piper was declared winner of American Star, she immediately became famous. But after a series of unfortunate events, her fame nosedives. She’s now up for a gig that may bring her back in the spotlight, but she begins receiving warning letters.

So I love celebrity thrillers, but I’ve also had bad experiences with books about music, so I wasn’t too sure about this one. I ended up really loving it. I legit just had a super fun time reading it! It was exciting, a lot of back and forth, and I didn’t see the twists coming. I like how it has a bit of reader gaslighting to it (is she crazy? Is she not?). I felt like I was going crazy at one point! My only complaint is that I didn’t love the main character, Piper. She was a bit of a goody-good for my taste, but I still loved her experiences and the plot.

The main character in this story is a woman called Piper Dunner, now Romano, after her marriage to Firio (Porfirio) Romano an investment analyst. Ten years before she had been the winner of Season 7 of American Star, a television talent show. Her future should have been golden, but within a year of winning, she had health issues which left her unable to sing, her home burnt down and then her mother became ill with cancer and died within months. She is left managing to only do a couple of days a week doing voice recordings, whilst the runner up Hayden Tower has gone from strength to strength, winning an Oscar and almost a Tony. He is now in a successful Broadway show and has finally found the woman he loves and is ready to settle down. Suddenly, one of the judges of the former talent show contacts her and asks is she would be interested in becoming the third judge, in a new and revised edition of American Star, which had ended after ten seasons. They are also considering Hayden, due to his current popularity, and Jojo Barr, another contestant from Season 7 and Piper’s roommate until she was voted off the show. She and Piper are still friends to the current day and keep in touch most weeks. Piper is heavily pregnant, but the show wouldn’t be until the following summer and only two days a week, if she got chosen.

Just after news of her being in the running for the judge position, she gets a weird letter in the post. It tells her that all of her past misfortunes were planned and that some sort of group have been watching her. If she isn’t careful about her future choices then more misfortune will come to her and those she loves! The letters continue and seem to hint that a high ranking member of this group or cult as she thinks it must be, is after something she is trying for and that she needs to stop, before something bad happens to her. She starts to believe she is being cursed, both in the past, since her win with the show, and now with little things sent to niggle her. Being heavily pregnant, the stress is not exactly helping and now it seems the curse has hit her husband’s job and caused him issues which may lead to him losing his job, their main income especially with her having a baby real soon. She is going somewhat mad, thinking almost obsessively about these strange letters and who could be responsible for everything that has gone wrong in her life.

Is her pregnancy affecting her mind, or is she going crazy for real? She begins to become fixated on one certain person being behind everything that has happened to her and is still happening. She looks into other people involved with the show and what has happened to some of them, bad luck to one seeming to give a certain person good luck in their career. She starts to realise that the letters are pushing her to only one conclusion. The ‘friend’ who is writing these letters, is telling her she has to kill this person, if she ever wants her luck to change. The path to truth will set her free, but first she will need to commit murder. She doesn’t want to languish in prison and miss out on her baby for too long, so it will need to look like an accident. Firio told her to not read any more letters, to leave them to him to deal with, but she is fully involved in this scenario and can’t stop her erratic actions! What she will do is uncertain, but she is definitely being pushed to her limits and beyond. Someone is playing with her buttons, but to what end? As the truth is revealed at the end, some will shock and some you may have worked out, but was a chance at fame really worth the price being asked? I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

What an edge-of-your-seat-nail-biting-roller-coaster-ride this was!! This book gripped me so tightly, and still hasn't let me go!

The author had me guessing right to the end and she then blind-sided me with a twist that I didn't see coming. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed by, was the reason seemed a bit contrived and a bit of a let-down after all the suspense building and plot crafting. I expected it to be a bit more than what it was!

At one point I was wondering if Piper was maybe having some sort of pregnancy related mental breakdown, and I spooled through every conceivable person that it could have possibly being, like playing a game of Russian Roulette.

Loved the characters, they were unique and well thought out - with good character development.

Picking up this 'book' (I read it on Kindle) was like when they lead the race horse into the starting gate. Reading the first line 'In three minutes I'll be a murderer. A famous one. Because the man I'm about to kill is very famous. Me, much less so.' The writing style there, what the author has intimated, that is the gate opening ... the rest of the book is those race horses hurtling down the race track at breakneck speed towards the finish line. At times I wish I could read faster, as I felt like a donkey trying to be a race horse.

To say that I enjoyed this book would be a total understatement. It would be akin to saying 'I enjoy ice cream' when I am the kind of person that has to have ice cream every day or I don't feel complete.

All I can add, this book is addictive and you will spend more time reading it than you should, as you should be doing essential, necessary things like cooking, showering, and so on, but you won't want to - you'll want to just keep reading until you get to the end, and then be sad that it is over!! I read this book in a day, it has been a while since a book has hooked me so effortlessly.

Highly recommended to people who love the mystery and trying to figure out the who, why, what in a book. For people who enjoy the end of your seat suspense. For people who love good character development and a different plot, and of course a totally unexpected twist! For people who enjoy a bit of psychological warfare, and of course for people who just enjoy a book that is so well put together, it leaves you breathless after the last lines have been read, and makes you sad that you are actually done ... that bitter sweet moment of closing the book and thinking, what did I just read ... or WOW, that was totally unexpected. Thinking, after you have read the book, that you are still thinking about what you just read!

Well done Ms Twiles ... I look forward to reading more of what you have to offer!

When you're looking for a well-written, expertly-plotted thriller, you can count on C.G. Twiles. The Last Star Standing hooked me right from the prologue's first sentence and I finished the book in a matter of hours. You don't need to be a fan of talent shows like American Idol or The Voice to be completely captivated by this perfectly-paced novel that offers a chilling behind-the-scenes look at talent competitions and the cost of fame. The author is so skilled at making even the smallest details come alive, if you didn't know better, you'd swear she'd been a contestant herself in real life before turning to writing!

After winning Season 7 of the fictional talent show American Star, singer Piper Dunner appeared to be poised for a life filled with success. But it all slipped away due to a series of personal and professional misfortunes. Fast forward a decade and Piper's life is back on track. She's got a handsome husband, a baby on the way, and even a chance to step into the spotlight once again. And then letters begin arriving, warning her not to pursue a new opportunity—judging the American Star reboot—and implying there was more to her past setbacks than simply bad luck. Who's behind the letters? A deranged fan? A cult? You'll keep you guessing right along with Piper, who has to solve the mystery (while pregnant!) before more harm comes her way. What lengths will she go to to protect herself and her family? Just wait and see! This is such a unique premise with propulsive plot twists all the way through, leading to a stunning conclusion that will have you feeling unable to turn the pages fast enough. Without giving anything away, I'd say this book has the perfect ending.

There's a lot to love here but one of the things I admire most about this novel is Twiles' ability to portray female friendships in a way that feels totally real and relatable. The dialogue is so spot-on, you feel like you are in the room with these women. It's refreshing to see such well-crafted characters in a modern thriller. Well done, C.G., already looking forward to your next novel!

Piper Dunning won “ American Star” a decade ago, beating her closest competitor Hayden by just a million votes. Her career was on a path to stardom and all her dreams coming true when a set of one setback after another put an end to her career. She is now happily married and expecting her first child when she receives a call from an entertainment reporter doing a story on the ten year anniversary of her win. While Pipers’ dreams stalled, Hayden star skyrocketed, he has a multi platinum album, an Oscar and is starring in a s Broadway show. Piper jokes to the reporter that she would like tickets to the sold out show and to her surprise Hayden sends them.
While backstage she runs in to another face from her past, Nolan Ferrari, one of the judges from “ American Star” and he tells her they are bringing back the show and asks her to audition for one of the competitions judges. However both Hayden and Jojo who also was a contestant and now one of her closest friends are being considered. The three are once again competing. Piper at first is reluctant to expose herself to public scrutiny and intrusive media attention but the thought of the security the money could bring to her family changes her mind. Until she receives a letter telling her that all her misfortunes had been engineered by a secretive group and one of their members had cursed her so that they could reach their dreams. They are now threatening her new life- her husbands career and even her baby and the only way out is murder.
This was a fun read and I think some characters cannot very obviously represent personalities we all know and the cult sounds like one many of us have heard rumors about as well. In that way it reminded me of a Jackie Collins or Dominic Dunne novel in which part of the fun is guessing who the fictional characters real life counterparts resemble.
I definitely did not guess the “ who dun it”
In this one. This is available now! Thank you ton# netgalley and the publisher for the free ebook in exchange for my honest opinion.

When Piper won Season 7 of American Star, she thought her career would take off like a rocket. Unfortunately, a series of personal tragedies came between her and her dreams. Ten years later, she is married, pregnant, and is an audiobook narrator. When American Star starts planning a return, she is tapped as one of three potential new judges. With her bad luck far behind, could this finally be her big break?
It appears she has a good chance of winning this coveted role. Then a letter arrives that makes her question everything she knows. It implies that all of her bad luck wasn't a cruel twist of fate, but really someone with their own agenda. Now Piper has to decide if she believes in fate and curses and if what she has now is more important than a second chance at fame.
Lots of potential suspects and the steady increase of Piper's fear along with thinly veiled innuendos has her rethinking her time after American Star. She wasn't the only contestant to suffer professionally, and she is pretty sure she knows the only person who gained while others lost. I changed my mind a few times before deciding who I thought was the villain. I was right about the who but had no clue about the why.
I enjoyed this book, but I think someone who is more familiar or who enjoys this type of reality TV would really like it. There is a lot of Piper reliving her experiences on American Star, and to be honest, those parts just didn't interest me. I did like uncovering the mystery behind Piper's bad luck and what was going on now though.3.5 stars.

The Last Star Standing by C.G. Twiles

Oh, this one had me from the first page and I could not put it down!

The book opens with Piper on her way to kill someone, and clearly it’s against her will. You can feel her desperation and anxiety.

Piper Dunner won season 7 of American Star (an American Idol like show), but never gained the fame and fortune she had been dreaming of due to a paralyzed vocal cord. She had experienced much loss in her life – she lost her host (and pet) in a fire, her mother passed away from cancer, her singing career stalled. But, Piper is happy now. Married to Firio, about the give birth to their first child and recording audio books brings her steady income.

Now, at the 10 year anniversary of the American Star season that Piper won, they are resurrecting the show and looking for a 3rd judge. The choices are Piper, Hayden (the runner up, but who has had far more success than Piper) and Jojo (who ended up in 6th place, but was an overall loveable person).

Then Piper starts getting threatening letters in the mail warning her of danger to her, her husband and her yet-to-be-born baby. I thought I knew who was behind the letters then *bam* the twist. And I was wrong. Oh, so good.

4.5/5 This book will be published on April 23rd

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

“In three minutes, she would be a murderer.”

🎙 Piper Dunner should be America’s sweetheart. But, after winning the singing competition American Star, a slew of tragedies befall Piper and she falls from grace. Now married and pregnant, she is being scouted to judge the revival of the show that made her famous. Simultaneously, threatening letters start to arrive at her door claiming responsibility for the tragic turn her life took and threatening further harm if she pursues this opportunity. Can she find the writer of the letters before any harm comes to her, her husband, or their unborn baby?

🎙 This whodunnit had me guessing until the very end and I flew through it in a day! Is it Hayden, her American Star runner up and now Oscar winner? JoJo, the heavyset contestant that she remained friends with long after the show ended? It seems as if no one is trustworthy in the pursuit of fame and riches.

🎙 I don’t want to give too much away-I have had many a thriller ruined for me in the reviews. But this is an American Idol-esque Scientology-esque crazy ride of a book. There is also that cover, amiright?? And dammit if I’m not sucked in by a great first line, as noted above. It sets the tone for me and this one SET. THE. TONE.

🎙 Thank you to to the author @cgtwiles and @bythebookvbp for the gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars, rounded up

“In three minutes, I’ll be a murderer. A famous one. Because the man I’m about to kill is very famous. Me, much less so.”

Wow, this psychological thriller was so fun! I was immediately drawn in from the first couple lines. I loved the unique premise of a supposed wronged talent show winner trying to figure out who was behind the mysterious letters and possibly threatening her new opportunity.

Told from Piper’s POV, we get a glimpse at her rise to fame while competing on American Star (think American Idol and America’s Got Talent) and what led her to orchestrate a murder.

The pacing, for me, was great overall; with a few parts that felt a little long.. then it continued to pick up, on a race to the jaw-dropping reveal! The conclusion left me feeling very satisfied. Add The Last Star Standing to your thriller tbr list - available on April 23!

Memorable Quote:
“For the record, Piper hadn’t mouthed ‘Nooooo’ but ‘Oooohhhh myyy” and the camera had “conveniently” cut away from the “myyy.” On such misinterpretations are kingdoms toppled and, in this case, thousands of fan fictions born.)"

Piper Dunner's dream of being a star faded into the background after winning season 7 of the American Star. What started as a quick rise to the top quickly turned into "Piper who?" when multiple destructive events happened that knocked her out of the limelight.

Years later, she has a chance to be in the spotlight again as a judge for American Star. When she begins receiving letters that are essentially threatening her if she doesn't back out...Piper has a decision to make...give in or fight back, even if fighting back might put her in harm's way.

Even though I figured out early on where part of this story was headed (mind you I said part, not all) this was a fast-paced, easy and fun read. This author has a knack for taking sub-genres of thrillers that don't usually work for or interest me and I end up really enjoying them. The Last Star Standing is a mind-twisting thrill ride that I'm sure will leave some heads spinning. Definitely recommend.

I sincerely appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of this psychological thriller. All opinions expressed herein are mine and mine alone.

The Last Star Standing by C. G. Twiles is a well-paced psychological thriller. Piper, the winner of the “American Star” show (think American Idol) 10 years before, has faced success and disappointment, and is now reading audiobooks for a living. She and Porfirio, her husband, live in NYC and she is 6 months pregnant. She is still wistful about being a performer and part of the music industry, remembering that, as a child, she felt “music and performing was the blueprint…..the fabric of her soul.” Then, she is offered an audition for the role of a judge on the show, and the suspense begins to unfold. The reader is treated to some good twists and turns in this novel as the action moves forward quickly.
The cast of characters is not large, but most are nicely fleshed-out and relatable. Piper is always front and center, and is believable as a pregnant woman protecting her unborn child. While I did guess the perpetrator half way through, it was still enjoyable as a suspense thriller and the writing was clever enough to keep me interested.
This is a good summer read, especially for fans/followers of American Idol and similar reality talent shows.
Thank you to BookSirens and the author for the ARC. This is my honest review.

The Last Star Standing by C.G.Twiles was my first book by this author and I can guarantee that her books are going to be my must have list....

The book is about an American Star (a singing reality show) winner Pipper Dunner who from the famous and beloved singer of the nation becomes a nobody so soon. She is happily married and is almost a mom misses being the famous singer and jealous of the runner up Hayden who is famous Star and win an Oscar too.

Then something start happening to her and she started finding reasons for the demise of her career.

The story was gripping and unputdownable in the second half . I find it a little slow in the first few chapters. Pipper going back in time and thinking about her days on the reality show are little too much detailed for me.

I love the friendship between Piper and Jojo and how they both have compassion for each other after all this time.

The chapters are short and kept me hooked to know what will happen next.

I will recommend the book to every thriller lover and would love to read her next book for sure.

I absolutely loved "The Last Star Standing" and could hardly put it down. It really puts the "thrill" back in thriller. It's a well-crafted story with memorable characters, particularly Piper Dunner who is a fully fleshed out, complex character who's neither all good nor all bad, like most of us. Women are often portrayed as either all good or all bad, hence the term Madonna/Whore complex, and it was great to see Piper rendered in all her flawed, relatable humanity. The book also brilliantly and convincingly portrays Piper's mind unraveling to the point where she can believe something as irrational as a cult cursing her. I loved the way Twiles digs deep into Piper's mind and really enjoyed reading what was going on inside the character's head. And the plot is just a wild ride teeming with suspense. I was at the edge of my seat throughout, trying to solve the mystery in the book. The plot has a great twist and I would have never expected what I learned. You must read "The Last Star Standing!" It's a unique book you won't forget! I truly look forward to more from this author!

This delicious mystery grabbed me from its opening line, "In three minutes, I'll be a murderer" and never let me go! When a new opportunity arises, the forgotten winner of an iconic reality tv singing competition must decide whether to believe in fate or curses, and decide how far she is willing to go to protect her family. The book is written from the protagonist's voice, and readers enjoy the wild ride as she engages in some amateur sleuthing.

The writer cleverly makes a case for several perpetrators, and a cat and mouse situation arises. Just as I would eliminate a potential villain, something would happen to move them back to the top of my list! Themes of deceit, jealousy, friendship, fame, and cults are intricately woven throughout the book.

The book is perfectly paced with a slow build of tension and a satisfying conclusion. This was the first book that I have read by @cgtwiles, but it definitely will not be my last!

Thank you C.G. Twiles, Muradal Publishing, and BookSirens for the free advance review copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for The Last Star Standing by @cgtwiles

First I would like to thank @cgtwiles, @letstalkbookspromo, & #muradalpublishing for the advanced copy of The Last Star Standing.

Piper was the final singer standing 10 years ago on the fictional show American Star. Since then she’s had one hit record & a few flops. She’s also had a string of bad luck, but that seems to be changing. She’s weeks away from giving birth to her first child. Piper is in a happy marriage. She’s even narrating audio books. All of a sudden all of that is being threatened. She doesn’t know who is doing it, but someone wants it out for her. Or do they want it out for someone else? Piper needs to figure out what’s happening before it’s wayyyy too late!

Last Star Standing was a twisty psychological thriller that had me unsure of who was behind everything until a few moments before Piper figured it out. I liked how Twiles used the fact that Piper won the America Sings season she was on, & like so many winners of shows like that, fizzled out. Piper was a very trusting person, & maybe too trusting. That was almost her down fall. If psychological thrillers are your thing, this one would be a good one to read!

You can get your copy on August 23, 2021.

Great book!

Piper Dunner won a reality show singing competition but in the years since, a lot of tragedy had befallen her. She begins to receive letters from “a friend” warning her that she’s in danger and needs to take drastic steps.

We witness Piper, who is also in the late stages of her first pregnancy, appear to kind of begin losing her mind. Multiple times she even questions if she’s insane or just being crazy affected by pregnancy hormones. Not sure who to trust or who to suspect, Piper tries to uncover what is happening to her with a shocking reveal to who is actually actively trying to ruin her.

The Last Star Standing is a very good thriller. C G Twiles has written a thriller that has so many twists and turns that I had to catch my breath! Piper is a pawn in a complex story. The layers of the story are revealed a little bit at a time and I felt the climax was perfect. I really enjoyed the book and can’t wait to read another story from C G Twiles. C.G. Twiles has a done a stand-up job; creating a storyline, so realistic and relatable, focused on the stars of a singing/talent show. It almost felt as though I had a backstage pass to the newest reality show. I loved how the book begins at a point in the future; giving the reader a glimpse of where we are headed, but not knowing why. The twists and turns along the way, as well as the ending, were unexpected and entirely entertaining.

A story that will keep you bound to the book from chapter 1. Great set up with intriguing characters. The plot is nicely worked out where you as a reader are taken into the mystery of the letter writer. The tension is slowly but surely increasing. The denouement sought so far that it surprised me as a reader.

Highly recommended

This book was brilliant, I had never read this premise before so was intrigued. Not going to lie but it took me a while to get into it (hence deduction of a star) but once into it it was amazing. The ending was brilliant, didn't guess it.

Very well written and researched - could just see the characters in real life.

Definately will be looking out for more by this author.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

This is one intense, twisted, addictive, complex, insane novel! Not only is this a very well-written book with wonderfully-interesting characters, but the suspense builds at just the right pace as the story unfolds.

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
