Tristan Warren has no real issues with his life. Granted, it's not the way his father, Senator Warren, wanted it to go but that's half the reason Tristan lives the way he does. The only thing annoying him right now is the fact that he can't get the hot man in the t-shirt that barely stretches wide enough to cover his broad shoulders to ask him out. No worries, he'll think of something. He has no doubt that he and the mystery man can both 'rise' to the occasion and at least he is way overdue for a grind. It's almost 7:30 a.m.; time to get lucky.
This novel contains lots of coffee, some cursing, a little bit of angst, a boy who speaks without thinking, a few explicit sex scenes including light bdsm and a HFN ending.
I loved the book, I didn’t love Peter. Getting to know more about Native Americans was great, him having a daughter and taking care of her was great, but he as a character? Yeah, he sucks.
He keeps talking down on Finn, gets mad for absolutely no reason, requires Finn to tell him every single detail about his life and yet doesn’t share any of his own, and so much more.
In one scene Finn doesn’t feel comfortable and safe-words to test if Peter would actually stop. What does Peter do? Maybe make sure his boyfriend is alright? Ask him why he felt the need to safe-word and wait for an explanation? Nope, he gets mad and acts like a dick.
I truly just don’t feel as if the characters were right for each other.
This was good, but unfinished and I thought those answers would come in subsequent books in the series, but apparently not. I liked them both and them together, but this really was a bit all over the place. As always this author really, really needs some strong betas and a very good editor. I am sorry to find that I don't love the books unabashedly like I do TDD series, but sometimes that's just how things work out. It's a good story, but it could be better.
I’m just not clicking with this book and Peter is rubbing me the wrong way.
The sense of time in this book is weird. Weeks by in an instant, what should be the next day is two days later. The sex, particularly the foreplay, is quite curtailed. But then, Tristan managed to make a salad and ravioli, sit down, eat and finish it within a short conversation.
This was such a pleasure to read. I thoroughly enjoyed the slow relationship development between the MC's. Si glad Tristan overcomes his issues thanks to Peter's patience and perseverance.
