I saw him once, when I was fourteen. Years have passed. My memories have faded, and Lero’s image in my mind has become barely an apparition from the past—beautiful and intriguing, but hardly real.
Until I see him again. Only this time, I’m no longer a teenager, I’m a real estate agent, hoping to sell an exquisite property, a private island in the Bahamas, to one of our company’s most important clients. I just never knew that the client would turn out to be Lero. Now, he is no longer just a memory for me. He is a man in flesh and blood. I am a grown woman, too, and my reaction to him is so much more intense.
When I finally find out what he is, secrets come crashing down, leading to astonishing and terrifying discoveries. I learn he’s been held captive and tortured by people he wouldn’t talk to me about. He thinks he is protecting me and my peaceful life. What he doesn’t realize is that there is no life for me without him, anymore.
The Moon may turn him into a monster and make him do terrible things, but I'm Stella, his morning star. I must find a way to lead him back into the light. _____________________________________

Stella met Lero when she was 14 and never forgot him. Now, fourteen years later, she's a real agent showing him a premiere piece of property, an island in the Bahamas. There's an even deeper attraction to him she can't deny even when she finds out what he is. He thinks the moon turns him into a monster and tries to send her away to keep her safe. But she knows that they're safest together.
This is the second book in the series and it's an absolutely marvelous read. I was drawn in from the beginning and didn't want to put the book down. The story is great and I loved how Lero learns to trust himself and love. I have really enjoyed the series and am looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.
I absolutely loved the first book in this series and couldn’t wait for this one. I needed Lero’s story. Took me long enough to get to it though, geez! And…
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
I am blown away by how much I loved it! I more than read this, I experienced it. And what an experience it was. Utterly fascinating and so vividly penned, I swear I was there. I could feel the ocean breeze, hear the waves, taste the food, see the wolf and his fiery red eyes, feel his fur.
Madness of the Moon rocked my world in so many ways. Lero and Stella’s story was thrilling and magical and suspenseful and full of scorching hot scenes. This story seriously consumed me.
The intensity and ferocity of the beast at times had me trembling with a little bit of fear mixed with a whole lot of excitement. Throw in some tingles of pleasure and I was in werewolf heaven. Talk about zings in my things. *fanning myself*
When Lero finally gives in to Stella, finally succumbs…when he follows her out onto the beach… His words, that passion…be still my heart and vagina.
I. FELT. ALL OF THAT.
The growls, the snarls, the nose nudges, the bonding, the love bites, the NEED. Felt all of that too.
And let’s talk about the badass heroine for a moment. Holy wow, Stella! I think I have a girl crush. She’s determined and strong and doesn’t allow anyone to walk all over her or hurt the ones she loves. The only place she was weak was allowing her feelings to grow for that sexy beast. She couldn’t help it though, I’d be weak too! But man, was she brave and fierce and protective and SO IN LOVE with the man…AND the beast.
When the full moon comes, Lero feels its power, feels the pull, the approaching madness. He gets twitchy and angry and snippy and knows he needs to go away, for everyone’s safety.
My goodness… the wine cellar scene?? Oh. My. Word. She soothes him, calms him, she SEES him. And she’s not scared. I think this part was my favorite (among others.) it was intense and powerful and raw and believe it or not, heartwarming.
If you haven’t guessed yet, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Tons. LOVED. IT. HARD. I really want to go on and on but I won’t. I’ll stop and tell you that if you love wolf shifters, I kindly order you to read this book.
I loved seeing Zeph & Ivy from book one. It was a reminder of why I adored them and their story so much. This series is so unique and entertaining and original and I can’t wait to dive into book 3!
The writing and editing of the ARC version of the manuscript was clean, with no typos that I found and well constructed sentences. The world building was vivid, with these different paranormal beings coming to life for the reader. The characterization was great, with the hero and heroine both being sympathetic individuals with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was sweet and hot. The heat level in this novel was five chili peppers, with some kink elements. The plot was tight and exciting, and the pacing was consequently quick. There was low angst and high stakes throughout this novel, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This novel used the Pining trope, the Mating Bond trope, and the Forced Proximity trope. The world building, plot, and pacing were all five stars. The characterization and development of the romantic relationship were also five stars. I therefore gave this novel a combined rating of five stars. The ending was a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger ending, so that was a big plus. I recommend this novel to readers who enjoy fantasy or paranormal romances with high stakes, great characterization, and lush world building. I look forward to reading the next book in this series when it releases. I will buy myself a keeper copy of this novel.

After all these years, Stella Alarie sees Lero Sauveterre is walking toward her, her adult appreciation of him overwhelming her senses. When she was 14, she had fallen from her bike when a sports car cut her off. She was on the sidewalk in front of his townhouse with a bleeding knee and he came out wearing his tuxedo and helped her. He wiped the blood with his handkerchief and, when she said it hurt, he did an odd thing! He leaned over her injury and dragged his tongue over the wound! She never fully forgot him and still remembers his scent. But now he is her client as she hopes to sell a private island in the Bahamas to him. She could tell he had no hint of recognition when he looked at her. And as she looked at him, she found it odd that he seemed no more than 30. That would mean he was 15 when she met him? But he had not looked like a teenager.
She does find out what his secret has been and what he has endured at the hands of a malevolent goddess. He tries always to protect her and keep her from danger, not realizing that she needs him in her life, to share her life. Will he let her save him?
I really enjoyed getting to know Lero and his story. The story overall was a very enjoyable read but I must admit that I didn't like that Stella spent about 60% of the book going with the flow, not questioning things. I was so happy when she finally put her foot down and demanded answers! The story got much better at that point.
I really enjoy revisiting characters that I met in Call of Water but I felt like I miss something in between books, nothing major, that affects the current plot it may just be my faulty memory since it's been a few months since I read the first book.
I received an advanced copy and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
I never thought I would enjoy Lero’s story this much.
I was very curious about Lero’s past because of some things mentioned in Zeph’s book. So I decided to read sample and yeah, that went really well😂!
Lero and Stella were a power-couple. Stella matched his physical power by being so damn courageous and emotionally strong. What I loved most about her was that she accepted Lero with all his unique characteristics, even those parts which Lero himself hated. When Lero was forced to push her she stood firm and fought for them. They also had insane passion.
So glad to see Zeph and Ivy in this book. There were many things I loved in the story but one thing I hated with a passion- Madame Tan. Then woman needs her comeuppance.
I loved this story. What a rollercoaster of emotions, conflicts and intrigue. Well written. With mystery and steamy romance. A wonderful HEA for all. We get to visit with Zeph and Ivy. Lero is so stoic. Wanting to keep his promise to keep Stella safe. He's Fay and promises are sacred. Never to be broken. He keeps pulling her in and then pushing her away. Stella is so strong in character. Loved the way she conquered the bridge between them. I had sad and happy tears with this book. I would highly recommend all of Marina's books. Loved them all. She has a fantastic imagination.

The second book in the Madame Tan’s Freakshow series a story that kept me turning pages. Stella Alarie fell in love with Lero Sauveterre when she was fourteen, but years have passed since she has seen him. She is now a real estate agent and Lero is her client. We also get a visit from Ivy and Zeph. There is so much explained in this book. I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Stella and Lero sizzle on the page. I love their love story and the sometimes difficult path it took to get there. The second in the series lives up to the intrigue of the first and expands on the world building Ms. Simcoe had begun. Learning about the fae world and it’s different species deepens the story. We get to see Zeph and Ivy again and learn more of his backstory. I can’t wait for more in the series!
A thrilling new story! This is the most incredible book! I love it! The beginning, I read with trepidation - anxious because of the horror that is Madame Tan - but the author pulled me right out of that into hope renewed. Lero is certainly challenging for Stella to reach (he has his reasons), but she’s such a persistent gal, she gets her dream-come-true. Their story plays to that (mostly) hidden desire we have to experience the monster within! Lucky Stella!
Stella met Lero once as a child, leaving a lasting impression on the girl. Fate is determined to throw them together again and can we say thank you, Fate! Lero wants to protect Stella from the unscrupulous Madame Tan. Stella just wants answers and, well, Lero himself. I hurt for Lero's self loathing and could not wait for Stella to figure out his secrets. Give a modern girl a break, Lero. We are made of sterner stuff!
It is no secret I am a fan of Marina Simcoe's work. While I love her imagination and her writing, not every book has been a must read winner. I actually prefer my authors like that because it means they take risks and try their hand at different stories. Madness of the Moon is one I will gladly be telling my friends about and adding to my personal collection to read again in the future.

I loved this story about Lero and Stella. It’s romantic, suspenseful, thrilling, intense and with a bit of mystery added throughout. The world building was so vividly written that I felt I was right there in the story with them.
Lero and Stella are unique characters that you can’t help falling in love with. Their story kept me on the edge of my seat hoping that they could make it work somehow. Their chemistry was explosive at times and the heat level could melt anyone’s panties.
Wonderfully written with fantastic characters and a storyline that kept me enthralled, captivated and highly entertained. I loved everything about it and I can’t wait for more from this world.
Loved loved loved!! After reading halfway through this book I found myself conflicted as hell because I have no idea which one is my favorite now!! I absolutely adored the first book in this series for the dynamics and how sexy cool the male was, but dead god, this second book tore my heart to shreds. Absolutely beautifully written, I must say.
Marina has such a way with her words where I just end up trapped in her writing and submerged in the story. I really wanted to eat up this book in one sitting but I ofc wanted to savor every moment between these two characters so I split my reading sessions. This story’s characters were very different from the previous couple, which I appreciated so much, but it was just as beautiful and hell it even had me shedding tears at times.
I’m very used to book series with different couples in each book having this thing where the characters kind of merge into one another. Like it’s hard to differentiate each couple from their stories as they kind of blur into one another and hold no singularities. But the couples in this series are their own characters with their own stories and their own battles to face, and I think that’s very beautiful.
I also really liked how the steam notch for this story was turned up in comparison to the previous. I feel like building up the steam levels with each book is a unique touch that I appreciate. Something about it getting raunchier as the books progress is thrilling to me. Very erotic descriptions and vivid scenes in this story to the point where I needed a new bottle of water every time I completed a love scene between these two.
In all, I loved Stella and Lero’s relationship and will be reading this book (along with the others) over and over again. 10/10 recommending to anyone who loves a fantasy with an edge of mystery and conflict!! Oh and don’t forget the hints of spice in the mix.
A beautiful, magnificent, and well thought out book. Great job Marina. I’m already halfway through the third book ❤️❤️ This story is a must read and I’m so glad I could dive head first into it.
Rather than rate each of these books I'll give a general overview of the series. Marina Simcoe does a great job with creating fantasy and alien worlds with hot alpha males and sassy, strong women. All the books in this series revolve around Mistress Tan's Freakshow. Ghata is an exiled goddess from the Nerifir world, a world parallel to our own. She was a moon goddess and as she became more powerful she became more corrupt. After escaping to the human world she used her influence to bring over her priests, or bracks, to help her trap other fae to create her freakshow. She has ulterior motives though for getting people to her shows.
Each story follows one of the fae that gets captured to be in her freakshow. I would say these stories are slow to medium burn. Simcoe creates attractive alpha men from gargoyles, werewolves, gorgons, and sirens to beserkers (bracks).
Below are my individual ratings with a brief description of each couple.
Madness of the Moon Rating: 4 (6/22) Heat: 6
Lero and Stella's story. Lero is a werewolf who has a history with Mistress Tan that is exposed in this novel. Stella is a real estate agent who initially met Lero when she was a teenager. She has never forgotten him and feels strongly towards him even though he doesn't remember her.

A few weeks ago I read the serpent one and I really was interested in the other characters in this weird circus so I started with the one that grabbed my attention but sadly I didn't like it and here are my reasons.
First I won't be too hard in this point but for me it was too much, there is a year gap between their last interaction (after the 14 years) where we get to read what happen to him but all those parts I just skim because I already knew them from the other series but again if you didn't read the other series you won't be bother as I was.
And that leads me two my second point, they had like 3 interactions almost at the halfway point and those interactions where: 1.When she was 14 2.14 YEARS LATER and they talk about a house and he didn't remember her 3. When he tells her they need to escape and then he loses his consciousness just to wake up, talk for 3 pages and then disappear again!
I get why he disappears but I could read it, and she was so infatuated with him that just baffled me, I couldn't buy their relationship because they barely interact and I was like Im just wasting my time, sorry, maybe the next half was more interesting with more banter and interactions but honestly i doubt it.
I really like the author, how she created this world and how interesting the characters can be but this wasn't it.
3.00 stars. (WW/WM). Kindle Edition 310 page e-book. Paranormal. Sixty + year age gap. Slow burn romance.
Setting: USA and Bahamas
MAIN CHARACTERS: Stella Alarie, human heroine, is a realestate agent.
Lero Sauveterre, hero, werewolf and multi billionaire businessman.
My first read of this author. The world building and character development is on point; however, the storyline moves too slow and the book seems too long. Lero and Stella first meet when Stella, a 14-year-old girl is injured and Lero is a 90-year-old shapeshifter heals her wounds and carries her home. From that moment on, Stella falls madly and irreparably in love with Lero. Their second meeting occurs when Stella is assigned as the realtor to procure the sell of a private island in the Bahamas. Shortly after, Lero is captured and put on display at Madame Tan's Freakshow but with he help, he escapes. Stella and Lero eventually move to the secluded island in the Bahamas where his secret is revealed and his reason for trying to avoid loving Stella is exposed; respectively, his being a werewolf and the tragic demise of his former human lover. This is finally resolved and Lero and Stella become a couple and Lero's best friend and his human girlfriend come to live with them on the island.
This book is superbly written, good pacing as far as I could tell, and I was able to follow it even though I've not read book 1 without annoying repetition of the world building.
However. I don't think the author has managed to write an American girl with a French guy - because that's what we're technically given, even if the guy is actually not French, he's lived there for years. Instead, we have 2 completely British characters with labels stuck to them. And that took me out of the story a lot. Their aloof and standoffish romance was frustrating to read, with that discrepancy in mind. Other discrepancies also bothered me. The rest of the book was super realistic (heroine shuts off her phone so she can't be traced), but then you get all these people working remotely from the hiding location, and it's like... uhmmm..... Similar other things happened where I just had to sigh.
Btw is this a thing for this author, that the heroine has known the hero since teenagerhood? I think in the other 2 books of her I read, that same situation was the case, and the heroine is always a late bloomer. Ugh.
‘Madness of the Moon’ is book two in Marina Simcoe’s ‘Madame Tan’s Freakshow’ series.
What an intriguing and addictive read. If you are not familiar with this series, I suggest you stop what you are going right now and go and start ‘Call of Water’ book one Zeph and Ivy’s story, then come back here and read Lero and Stella. Each book are standalones but with a continuation with the main storyline.
We first meet Lero in ‘Call of Water’, and I couldn’t wait to find out more about this mysterious and interesting male. But I never expected his story to be anything like this. I was hooked from the very beginning. I went on such a journey that I was sucked in mind, body and soul. When I got to the end I was a little disoriented as I didn’t realise how long I had been reading for. I was completely and utterly engaged in the journey.
Stella and Lero’s story is so unique, emotional, and nail biting. All I can say is prepare yourself to be transported to a new world and hold on to your socks cause this is a read you are never going to forget.
Magical and extraordinary in its complexities and world building this was another immersive read in the Madam Tan’s series. Lero’s story is of a tormented soul that is infused with the warmth and emotional depth this narrative does not fail to convey. Stella was a young girl of fourteen when she first met Lero and always remembered his kindness to her and the innocent attraction she felt for him which has followed her into adulthood, raising again when years later their paths cross unexpectedly.
With both action, suspense, steamy love scenes and well crafted characters the story of Lero and Stella comes to life, bringing together two souls destined for each other yet pulled apart by Lero’s fears and the evil goddess Ghatu’s plans. Atmospheric and engaging this was an utterly enjoyable read that does ultimately lead our couple to a well deserved HEA.

Don't get me wrong, the book is good and worth reading! I fully enjoyed reading it and will continue to the next one! But the hero's side of the romances is too forced at the beginning. He spends a few hours on a business trip with Stella, of those there are maybe a few minutes a brack could actually have witnessed. He behaves cool, detached and distant, this is hardly anything beyond a business appointment for him - and from that she is considered his lover and thus is endangered by the bracks... What? Any female employee of his or any woman he accidentally meets must thus be a target as well, right? It makes no sense. Maybe the brack sensed her interest in him, but she would hardly be the first, wouldn't she? So, the thing that the brack attack her, and that thus he needs to keep her safe - and thus thinks non-stop about her, being conveniently obsessing about her... Yeah, sure...
This was a good addition to this series. While reading the first book in my opinion enhances the enjoyment of this one you could probably start with this one and be fine. This series is full of world building and interesting characters. There's some mystery and suspense as well as a slow build romance. But once things get hot they get hot and I loved the sometimes special equipment Perl has. This couple overcomes a lot of their own preconceived notions to get their HEA. But the do get it and I love how the previous characters are woven into this story. I can't wait for the next story and I'm kind of hopping we get a story for the Dragon man as well as one where we get to go to nerifir. It's a good book and series would recommend.
I liked the first book in this series a little better than this one. But I found them both to be entertaining. Lero was so closed off and hesitant that I felt a gap with him even as a reader. I almost feel like I knew more about him secondhand through Zeph in book 1 than I did in the first 3/4 of this book. We did get some of his internality but not much more than what he shares with Stella. And I'm missing the connection that Stella feels that keeps her from giving up. Stella herself was ok, I guess. She felt a bit blank honestly. But I do like her heart and her ability to adapt and seeming easy going nature. And overall I enjoyed the book, but I felt like there were a lot of loose threads and I'm looking forward to book 3.
I enjoyed the overall story, but the relationship development was definitely lacking. Again, the FMC was pretty basic. It was never specifically said in the book, but it felt like they were only drawn to each other by some kind of fated mate bond. He repeatedly rejected her advances, but they never had much apparent chemistry. That made it baffling that she would keep vying for his affection. It also bothered me that there wasn't ever any confession of his desire for her during his POV chapters even just internally. With all of that going through my head it was still interesting enough that I finished the book without much trouble, so I guess that's a win...
I loved the first book! I'm obsessed with this one! I laughed, I cried, sometimes I wanted to strangle Lero (every time he did something sweet then pushed her away!) It was a slow burn spicy romance I will definitely put on my favorites list. I have binged Marina Simcoe's books for the last few days and this just makes me want to read more.
The part when he goes into the water for her to get a shell she wanted made me sigh like a school girl! And aww so much!
That scene right before she was supposed to get on the plane to leave him! I bawled like a baby when he came after her!
And the smut! 🌶️🌶️🌶️🤭😏

I enjoyed the story, not as much as book 1 and honestly it may have been the amount of "honey" used as a term of endearment throughout. It really grates on me. That may be because I live in the US South and "honey" is commonly used as in a exasperated or condescending manner. So as I read Stella's dialogue, that was commonly the tone I adopted.
Fair warning, if you like your shifters to be human for their spicy scenes. This book is not going to be for you. If you're all about some animalistic ravaging though, A+
Great continuation of the series I loved getting more background info on where Zeph and Lero come from. It frustrates me when main characters deny themselves for 'the greater good', but it's a romance novel so you know they'll end up together.
Stella met Lero when she was 14 years old. She has been obsessed with him since. Now working as a real estate agent her client is no other than Lero. He doesn't seem to have been aged a bit. Nothing happens off course she is a professional. All seems fine till they clash again and secrets are revealed.
