Shattered Mirrors

I’m used to protecting myself. Always have, always will.
But he’s the one person I can’t protect my heart from.

When an internship partners me with the one man I can’t stand but is every other girl’s fantasy, I find out there’s more to him than meets the eye. With his devilish good looks and piercing eyes, he’s smashing through the wall I’ve erected around my heart.

Our lives couldn’t be more opposite, but the more time I spend with him, the harder I fall. He says all the right things and shows me a world beyond work and school.

Everything is going great… until it’s not. When my life falls apart around me, I do the one thing I’ve always done.

I run.

What happens when the mirror shatters and the pieces are scattered?

*Shattered Mirrors is part one of the Justin and Madison duet and does end in a cliffhanger. This must be read prior to reading Mended Mirrors.

**Trigger warnings include suicide and mentions addiction.

Shattered Mirrors (Mirrors #2) by Norma Marie is a slow burn, contemporary romance told in first person, dual POV. Although it’s the second book in the Mirrors series, it’s unnecessary to read Smoke and Mirrors first, but those who do will have the best experience with Justin and Madison’s story after already having met them in book one. Shattered Mirrors is part one of a duet, and therefore, ends with a cliffhanger.

I enjoyed Madison and Justin’s story. They were both realistic, well-developed, and likeable characters who came from opposite socioeconomic and family backgrounds. Madison’s upbringing is marked by abandonment and loss. She’s had to fend for herself, becoming the provider in order to survive, so she has many walls up for protection. Justin comes from an affluent family where money is no object, but he lacks his father’s approval and support as he struggles under the weight of expectations forced upon him.

Madison and Justin have a wonderful connection that she actively resists, but when he gets her to take down her walls, it’s beautiful. When Madison experiences the heartbreaking pain of another loss, followed by betrayal, everything falls apart. Shattered Mirrors is emotional, sweet, and steamy. I can’t wait to read the rest of Justin and Madison’s story in Mended Mirrors.

Madison has had a rough life and because of that she has walls so high it will take one heck of a person to break them down. Her father left her, her mother is more a child than mom, and she doesn’t have any external relationships. Madison can’t, she works, has an internship, and goes to school. She has the world on her shoulders and slowly… she is getting buried by it. Until Justin.

Justin was my favorite character. He was simply a sweet man interested in Madison. Justin comes from a wealthy family that is still together. It would seem his life is perfect. But things are not as perfect as it may seem from the outside. He is struggling to live up to his parents expectations and he doesn’t want to take over the family business. Justin wants to make his own way in the world.

Madison and Justin are both vying for the same position with a prestigious PR company, and they are teamed as partners during the selection phase. These two are struggling with preconceived notions of the other, but slowly… ever so slowly, Justin starts knocking Madison’s walls down.

Smoke and Mirrors is well-written and it is so easy to visualize the world Justin and Madison live in. I could almost smell the smoke in Madison’s home. The characters will reach in and touch your heart and in the end, you will want to smack one of them on the head. A big ole WALLOP!

I enjoyed this book and am anxiously awaiting the final book in the duet. One of the characters has a lot of groveling to do in book two and it will be interesting to see if these two can find their way together. Smoke and Mirrors is a wonderful new adult contemporary romance and it gets my must read recommendation and I will definitely keep reading Norma Marie!

Shattered Mirrors is part one of Justin and Madison’s duet, and it is amazing! This is a sassy enemies to lovers romance that has so much sweetness woven in with the heartache.

Justin and Madison are two young people with the weight of the world on their shoulders. While their circumstances are different, they’ve each had unreasonable pressures and expectations thrust upon them.

Together, their dynamic is electric. From the beginning you can feel their chemistry sizzling below the surface. Watching Justin finally break through Madison’s defenses feels like such a wild victory.

Their love is young and innocent and pure. It’s full of adoration and the expectation of a lifetime of happiness.

“I’m already yours.”

Unfortunately, all good things come with a price. In this case, once the first domino falls, there’s nothing stopping it from causing total devastation. The end of this book is heartbreaking but I am here for it!

Norma Marie has done such a terrific job planting the seeds of what’s to come for these two beautifully damaged souls. I cannot wait for Justin and Madison to find their happily ever after!

I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

We first see Madison and Justin in Smoke and Mirrors, book one of this series, and after reading about all of their animosity toward each other in that book, I was so beyond excited to read their journey.

And let me tell you, this book did not disappoint. While it is a duet and ends in a major cliffhanger, Shattered Mirrors takes place BEFORE Smoke and Mirrors, giving us the background information on the beginning of Justin and Madison’s love story and provides an insight as to why the animosity began.

This story was a slow burn, strangers to lovers with a heaping dose of hesitation and resistance on Madison’s end. Her strength is admirable, but her story is heartbreaking. And the ending? It truly will shatter your heart. Days after finishing this book, I’m still thinking about it. And I can’t wait to find out how their love story ends in Mended Mirrors.

This book was amazing and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Justin and Madison have this amazing chemistry that is hard for them to ignore. Both are dealing with the demands of life, family, work, and friends that they really don't have time for a relationship. This book was beautifully written and a heartwarming story despite the cliffhanger leading into book #2. Grab this book when it comes out and you won't be disappointed.

Loved this book more than the first one and that was really good.❤️❤️❤️
Ends on a cliffhanger😭😭
I recieved a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read Smoke and Mirrors purely because I offered to read a advance copy of this book. I'm so glad that I did, I loved Natalie and Lucas story I was expecting the 2nd book to finish there story but at the end of the first book theres a link where tou can down load the epilogue which finished there story off beautifully but honestly I would love to read more of those two. Lovely well written story.
Definitely read it first before diving into this book as Madison and Justin are close friends of Natalie and Lucas and you know there is a story waiting to be told.
And boy is there a story, I dont want to give to much away you need to read both books.
Justin is the rich kid who won't do as daddy says..... He wants to make his own path in life and Madison hasnt had it easy but with sheer determination as managed to keep things a float. She lets her walls down and falls hard and fast and it is absolutely amazing until its not!!!!!!
When the mirror shatters the pieces scatter😭😭😭😭 let's hope these pieces can be put back together...
This series is definitely worth the read, I need the next book now, hopefully wont have to wait to long.

Oh Justin and Madison... you two have had chemistry from the get go, but man alive, that cliffie! I don't even have words to the things that came out of my mouth as I read the dissolution of those few days of happy, solid relationship you were able to enjoy. I felt the love, the joy, the pain, the misunderstandings and the soul crushing guilt. What an exceptionally well written beginning to what I'm sure will be an amazing duet!

This was a beautifully written and heartwarming story until it wasn’t...and I wanted to scream at the author! I let out an audible GASP at one point while reading this, complete with hands flying to my face in shock and horror. And that speaks to just how well this author gets her readers wrapped up in the story. I did not see that ending coming. Talk about a plot thickens. I can’t take it!! My heart has been put through a roller coaster ride of emotions and then she twisted the knife a little bit further...with that cliffhanger!! I have four words for you: One click this NOW! Cliffhanger be damned…this book is worth it!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

I was looking forward to read Madison and Justin’s story after finishing Smoke and Mirror. It’s a heartbreaking story where Justin fights hard for Madison’s heart. He doesn’t let her stubbornness stop him from trying to win her over. Madison is dealing with a lot of stuff for a college student and feels overwhelmed at times.
This story ends with a cliffhanger and I can’t wait for there story to continue.

Shattered Mirrors is an enemy to lover story that is part 1 of a duet and ends in a cliffhanger with a trigger warning for suicide and addiction.
Madison is busy going to school, working, and taking care of her mom. Madison doesn’t have time for a relationship and must keep her heart guarded. Justin is going to school and deciding what he wants to do for the future, while dealing with pressure from his father to take over the family business. Both are partnered together for an internship and get to know each other.
I 100% recommend this steamy drama filled book. This book is exciting right until the end. I can’t wait until part two “Mended Mirrors” since I ended the book being mad a multiple fictional characters and I hope Madison and Justin get a HEA.

I received an ARC thanks to Norma Marie and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was an emotional read which I don’t typically go for, but Norma Marie did a good job at creating a light hearted character in Justin to balance it out. It took me a while to warm up to Madison. Her personality was sort of bland. She had some spark with Justin, but overall, her life was just too heavy for her and it made her sort of dull to read. Almost as if shed given up and resigned to the life she was leading. I would have liked to see a little more fight from her to get away from the life she had, but I can understand how that would have been hard given the circumstances.

Madison is working at a bar and going to school full time while taking care of her sick mom who has an addiction problem. Her brother died and then her father left them which caused her mom to spiral. Madison doesn’t have any relationships with friends or any other family. She carries the world on her shoulders and you feel that pain and hardship in the story. Her life seems completely hopeless until Justin.

Justin balanced the story out with his sweet and upbeat personality. He’s interested in Madison and although his friends didn’t understand, and I didn’t really either, he pursued her and saw something in her that no one else had. Justin comes from a wealthy family, but there are problems inside that no one on the outside knows about. His father wants him to take over his company, but Justin wants to live his own life in a different direction which causes friction.

Madison and Justin attend the same college and are going for the same position in a PR company. They end up teamed together during the beginning phase and have to try to work together to get the spots they want in the company. Madison is trying to keep her walls up around Justin, but he’s going after her hard despite everything that’s going on. Brick by brick he starts knocking Madison’s walls down and what he finds is beautiful.

Their connection was sweet. I would have liked to see a little more life to Madison after they gave into their feelings and started to explore what was between them, but life dealt Madison another crap hand and everything shattered around her.

Shattered mirrors is an emotional, heart wrenching read. It does end in a cliffhanger, but it’s worth the read. I’m anxious to see what happens in book two with the way book one ended. One character has a lot of explaining to do and I’m interested to see how that plays out. The conclusion to their story is in Mended Mirrors which comes out soon.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This story blew me away. It is part one of a duet and ends in a breath stealing cliffhanger. Enemies to lovers has become one of my favorite tropes recently and I loved this one. This duet is the story of Justin and Madison.
These two don't exactly get along when they are both up for the same job. Then they are both told to work together as part of an internship. Madison has a really thick wall around her heart for good reason. She's been let down by those that are supposed to have her back. Now, in order to take care of herself and her mom, she has a job, an internship and school. Justin comes from money and is doing everything he can to be his own person and not take over the family business. His father puts too much pressure on his shoulders.
He has his work cut out for him if he's going to win Madison's heart and keep it. It is a beautiful story until stupid actions cause her more pain and her response is to run. The events towards the end of the book broke my heart and had me dying for the next book. Thankfully, I only have to wait until November. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

This is the 2nd book in this amazing series and the 1st in a duet about Justin and Madison. Madison has had a tough life with a background marked by abandonment and loss, which left her to fend for herself, and become the provider to survive, and she understandably has high walls surrounding her heart. Justin is from a wealthy family, who wants for nothing, but he lacks his father’s approval and support, and he is weighed down by expectations. Both characters are broken souls, and as Justin manages to break down Madison’s walls, their relationship is beautiful. This is a well written story which is sweet, emotionally charged, heartwrenching, and with betrayal, loss, heartbreak, and love, which leads to a steamy and riveting page turner. I cannot wait to read the 2nd part of this duet, and I highly recommend this talented authors’ work.

Shattered Mirrors is the first part of a duet and has an extremely frustrating cliff hanger 😂

I love that the author knew that she couldn’t make their HEA story happen in one story without it doing it and us a disservice by making it feel rushed. I love/hate cliffhangers but knew this one had to happen!

This was a fantastic enemies to lovers/forced proximity/office romance with characters that are full of passion, secrets and baggage, and a healthy size of heartache. Justin and Madison are the most unlikely couple but after forced proximity on a project they quickly realize those pent up frustrations for one another might be something else entirely.

Character development, plot flow and expectations all ran together well and made for an extremely believable and relatable story. I am excited yet anxious for part two of the duet to release so I can see how it all plays out!

Oh wow I had an inkling that Madison’s and Justina story was going to be Okayama emotional one and oh boy was I right. I however don’t think I was prepared for it. Madison has been through a rough life so it is very understandable that she has this guard up and i no’s not very trusting. Her parents well they don’t deserve those titles because parents they are not. Then there is Justin to the average person looking inn his life seems perfect he comes from the perfect family with a perfect life. But looks can be deceiving and not everything that shines is gold. This author knows how to grab you wi note her writing and transport you right along with the characters. I enjoyed this book so much and am eagerly waiting for the conclusion of these two.

Part one of Justin and Madison’s journey and it’s book two in the Mirrors series. An enemies to lovers romance that has some electrifying chemistry. Justin come from a wealthy family but struggles under the expectations of family. Madison had a rough life and had to provide for herself to survive. With the magnetic pull they have to the other Madison resist to keep from getting hurt.
This story is well written and the characters are on one heart wrenching rollercoaster ride. Cliffhanger alert but this book is a must read. Impatiently waiting for the conclusion to Justin and Madison’s story.

Such an emotional read. Madison is working and going to school in addition to being there for her mom. Who has been in and out of rehab. When she lands an internship she is partnered with Justin. They go to school together and she is annoyed with at first. Their relationship begins to alter. To not spoil it I will stop there. I highly recommend it but it is a cliffhanger.

I received this ARC from the Author and review is voluntary.

wow

Oh my gosh!! I have so many feelings right now that I don’t even know where to start. From book one it’s clear that Justin and Madison had a story. I feel their pain in this book. I want to just fix things for them. I’m going to read book one again and wait for this story to pick up again. Hope that book comes out soon. Like tomorrow would be nice, today would be better. I highly recommend the series

Justin and Madison come from very different backgrounds, but have the same goal: obtain an exclusive internship. This enemies-to-lovers romance does have some heavy themes (including off-page suicide and drug use). The tension between the two main characters was excellent, the book was very well paced, but it DOES end in a cliff hanger. I eagerly await the HEA for this pair. Overall a really good read.

Talk about a slow burn!! The tension these two had oozed off of them. The miscommunication trope definitely irks me but I still torture myself with them. The miscommunication is STRONG with these two.

Justin and Madison met in college and were constantly going back and forth with each other. He wanted to show her he wanted in and she pushed him away.

This ends on a brutal brutal cliffhanger.

I went into this not having read the content warnings. I 100% recommended you looking into them and being in the right state of mind. I have had Shattered Mirrors sitting on my tbr for far to long. I was expecting another light hearted romance, what I got was a tiny slice of another’s life. Madison and Justin feel like friends now that I am already missing. Shattered Mirrors follows their budding relationship and will have you yelling at the book. Norma Marie has brought a feeling of life that I don’t see often in romance and will have me coming back repeatedly for more. I received an advanced reader copy and have left this review voluntarily.

Be prepared is my advice. It took no time to fall in love with Maddison. She’s one fierce young woman. Life has been cruel to her and yet she perseveres at every turn. Her dad is a POS. Justin was much the same in that he was easy to love. He’s genuine and smart. The book was sad and it absolutely broke me in the end. These two fit together so beautifully. I loved their chemistry.

Norma Marie! Remember that name! You're going to read this and think "No way this is only her debut book" she hit the ground running with Natalie and Lucas!

I cried (yes I messaged her about it) and I pleaded but I also laughed and got giddy! These best friend to lovers really had all angst and tension you could want while they tried navigating their new relationship.

I applaud Norma for writing so well on the verbal aspect of DV and the process it takes for one to recover from it!

I'll definitely be recommending this read to whoever will listen!

I couldn’t put this story down! Madison is a broken soul. She’s forced to grow up and take on so much responsibility from a young age. This has left her closed off to the outside world and feeling like she’s not good enough. Justin is the rich kid who’s life seems handed to him and comes across as the playboy with no real personality but we soon see that in his own way he doesn’t feel good enough either. They appear to be polar opposites but as time goes on we see them for who they truly are and they start to see each other as well. The love story that develops in this book is truly heartwarming and breaking all in one. I loved the character development, story line, and all the details Norma put into this. The story is told chapter by chapter from each of the characters views which is so nice. The cliff hanger is awful but I understand why it was done this way and am dying for the next book!
