To survive, I must work with the famed Talon hunter who ripped out my heart.

Ten years ago, Gavret "The Hunter" Talon broke my heart and turned our families against one another. His perfect face and bedroom eyes make my heart race, and I want to slap the sinful smirk off him.

Except now he's the only one who can hunt the evil threatening me.

An ancient maji desires me as his bride, and he's carving a path of death towards me. If we don't stop him, the maji will use me to take over the fae and mortal realms.

When our heated fights turn into heated touches, I know I have to protect my heart. Gavret leaves me breathless, and his eyes spark a desire as wild as him within me. While his darkness might keep me safe from the maji, what will keep me safe from him?

But when victory comes with a devastating price, I must choose. I can protect my people… or save the life of a man that will never be mine.

The Hunter is a heated fantasy romance, perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses. It is a standalone, but the family’s story continues in the next book.

The Dark Talons series is Bridgerton with magic, sword fights, and fae. Gritty men meet headstrong competent women, and come together with sparks like swords. Passion and possession flares between the pages and with men who alternate between foul-mouth curses and swoon worthy feelings.

Taryn Riverspine is horrified when she wakes up one morning to discover her guardian, Lord Carrington, has been murdered. The last thing she needs is anyone bothering her on such a day, but with the arrival of Gavret “The Hunter” Talon on her guardian’s orders, the last thing she can do is cause a scene by sending him away. But with the sudden knowledge that her guardian’ killer was actually after Taryn, Gavret refuses to leave her defenseless, and becomes quite the thorn in Taryn’s side.

Taryn still resents Gavret for breaking her heart when they were younger, and she feels anxious at the thought of having him constantly near her again. Gavret Talon is no longer the 19 year old boy who broke her heart, no, he is the famed Hunter of the Talon family, and as Taryn and Gavret grow closer, she realizes that the man Gavret is now could have the power to destroy her... far worse than he ever did the first time.

Robinson takes us back to the world of the Dark Talons in the second book of the series, which is about darkly handsome Gavret Talon. Gavret is every fangirl’s dream. I did not think I was going to love him as much as I loved Cazien, but I think I actually love him more!!! Yes, he’s broody, and yes, he can be short tempted. But I absolutely adored what we learn about him in this novel and especially his treatment of Taryn. He was extremely protective of her, but if she told him she could do something on her own or didn’t need his help to walk over a creek, he believed her, and let her do her own thing. This shows really shows Gavret’s respectful side. And that alpha streak of his! *swoons*

And Taryn!!! I could talk about how much I loved Taryn for hours. I think as a nerdy girl who loves to read, Taryn is someone I could really relate to. She’s shy, and a little awkward at times, but she’s not afraid to speak her mind when she needs or wants to. She also had this incredibly sassy nature that had me laughing all through the book. Her and Gavret’s banter was to die for. That’s the other thing. I adored Taryn and Gavret together, and I loved all the twist and turns Robinson took us on throughout their story. This book was perfection. Absolute perfection. I cannot wait for Morgan’s story!!!

This series so much fun! Grabs you from the first page and doesn’t let you go.
I love the action, the chemistry and the characters. There were so many memorable passages, especially how wildflowers are greater than roses. I loved how Taryn is a lady but packs a bunch both verbally and with her boot knife. My kind of strong woman.
I can’t wait for more of the Talon family.

I might have gone into this with too high of expectations after just how much I loved the first book. This one was good, especially the last third or so, but I just didn't love the main characters nearly as much as I did Cazien and Minerva. Perhaps because these two grew up together they just didn't hit the same. I liked them and they do work well as a couple, but they just weren't as fun to read about.

When Taryn's mother kicks her out of the witches community for not having a drop of magic in her, she ends up the ward of Lord Carrington. It's a terribly unwell kept secret that she is actually his bastard child, and that makes her have to suffer from many cruel court people. And while her father may not quite know how to raise a daughter on his own, Taryn did grow up feeling loved by him and being taught how to be able to stand on her own. It wasn't until his unnatural death that Taryn finds out he had finally claimed her as his own and made her heir of his estate.

We didn't learn much about Gavret in Cazien's book, but here we (obviously) learn a whole lot. Despite how it happened and the hardships he endured to make it out alive, it was really cool to learn of his connection to a fae prince and the rewards he received from him. Gavret had lived at Lord Carrington's estate for many years as a teenager (mostly to escape his own father) and grew close to Taryn during that time. In a great display of anger, Gavret is forced to leave but not before completely destroying Taryn's heart. And since that time the two them have barely even seen each other, let alone interacted. So imagine Taryn's surprise, and anger, when Gavret shows up unexpectedly the morning she finds her father dead.

Gavren had been sent for by Lord Carrington because he feared for his daughter's life. He knew she was in danger and wanted Gavret to protect her. A fear well founded. Turns out there is an ancient evil that has been summoned back to their world that is randomly killing people and causing destruction wherever it goes. Taryn's father was one such victim and she vows to kill the creature responsible. And she will have Gavret at her side whether she wants him there or not.

There is a lot more to this creature than they initially thought, and even worse, it's target is Taryn. Together these two have to find it's anchor and destroy it before they can even have a hope to kill it. Fortunately, it's not too terribly long until these two form a real relationship after Gavret explains everything that he had to do in the past and why. These two need to be strong together to even have a chance. And because of the rare singer magic that Taryn possesses, she's the only one who can defeat him.

The ending was really good. It was believable and really worked with the whole story up to this point. These two fought really hard to be together, now they'll have to fight to stay that way with more than one war on the horizon.

The best part of this book was actually all we learn about Viridian. Talk about a lot of surprises and twists with that brother! I'm definitely looking forward to his book in the future. Along with his arrival comes a lot of fae politics and war, but also a solid alliance with a banished prince.

Despite the fact that I didn't love this one like I did the first, I've already preordered the next book. Now it's the sister's turn to find love, and figure out how to keep it.

The Hunter was an action packed read full of mystery, world building and explosive chemistry between the main characters. I loved how this was a little bit of a second chance/miscommunication romance, childhood BFFs who could have been more, with some found family in the mix and good banter. The conflict between the two main characters resolves nicely and at a good point in the book. Which I appreciated because the second half of this book is absolutely packed with conflict, fighting and plot development for future books. At times I found the characters added to this story to be a little confusing and had to struggle to keep everything straight in my head. Overall though it wasn’t too bad and sets up the next few books pretty well.

Not as great as the first, nevertheless, solid enough on its own to keep me invested in the series. I didn’t like Taryn much because she spoke often about being trained to defend herself but she never put that training to use even when she needed to. A lot of talk about being a wildflower needing no one yet she doesn’t save herself once or use her awesome power as often as she could. I was thinking a hundred different ways to use her powers and while the author displayed some creativity with it I wanted more independent strength from Taryn than we ultimately got. Also, her ‘adventure clothing’ made me roll my eyes each time it was mentioned. The angst for the romance wasn’t overly drawn out as it can be in these childhood sweetheart tropes which I appreciated, yet the plot for this one wasn’t as fun as the first either. Definitely like the set ups for the following books however and will read them as soon as they’re out!

Following another of the Talon sibling, this time Gavret and another feisty female Taryn. Lost of interesting bits weaved into the story form their past and secrets being shown. Taryn abandoned by her mother for not showing typical which power turns out to be a very rare witch known as a Singer. After her father is killed the two set off on an adventure to destroy the Kosmar and prevent her from falling into it's grasp. As the story continues we start to learn a bit more about the bother Viridian dicussed in the first story. Along with finding some new allies Ellisar and Caiden. Excited for the next story to follow Morgan Talon's story.

If you loved "Demonbane", you'll adore this second installment in "The Dark Talons" series!!! It's time for Gavret's story, and let me tell you, it's an engrossing read! A second-chance, friends-to-enemies-to-lovers story that will blow you mind! Plenty of action, adventure, magic, emotions and steam that hooked me from start to finish and had to read it in one sitting. And we finally learn what happened to the missing Talon brother. And I can tell his story will be a juicy one!

If you haven't read the first book in the series, I highly recommend grabbing both books and binge-read them!!!

This is yet another fantastic book, this time about a different Talon brother - Gavret aka The Hunter. I really enjoyed the 2 main characters, Taryn and Gavret and the chemistry between them. The romance is steamy but I also love the fantasy plot that goes along with it! The author does an excellent job of writing this story and I can’t wait to read more of her books!

I received an ARC of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving an honest review.

I read Demonbane, the first book in this series, earlier this year and absolutely loved it. I could hardly wait for book two to come out, and I was NOT disappointed!! It had a bit of a different feel to it, but that is an amazing trait I believe. When a book series has a different feel to each book, and it matches the personalities of the characters, that's a good sign. I loved the interaction between Gavret and Taryn. And I LOVE that, unlike everyone else around her, he never thinks less of her because of her witch heritage. In fact he turns what would be a derogatory term from anyone else into an endearment. The twists and turns towards the end were epic, and I loved getting to see more of Viridian. The introduction of the elves was awesome, and again, I can't wait for the next book! Will it be about Morgan, Brannen, Viridian? Aah, I want them all!! Thank you Marie for keeping me on your advance reader team!

I looove the Talon series!!!
Another brother saves .. No, supports another strong woman and together they save the world! That is how it should be: a proud big guy meets a powerful woman and once they have united no evil can overcome them. And now we have to wait for the next book to see how Morgen will make her own life and happiness. (and what about Viridian? I think he deserves his story too)

I was not prepared to enjoy this book so much more than the first, but, DAMN!! was this a good book!! I found myself far more attached to these characters, than the ones in the first book, which was a shocker, because I thought I was team Caz all the way.

Action, romance, heat, Fae, witchcraft, demons, pirates...

I mean, what's NOT to love? SO looking forward to the next book!

The same as the first book but different.

The story as a whole felt the same as the first book. Macho bachelor and a headstrong woman going on an adventure and falling in love. However, it had elements that made it all its own. I’m really excited to read Morgan’s story next.

Love these brothers

Right off the bat there's a murder and who needs to solve this? A Talon brother! Garvet in the first book had me intrigued and i really wasn't expecting to want to slap him in the first few chapters of this one. Don't worry he redeems himself and I almost love him as much as his brother. Taryn is smart, brave and a Singer. The action in the book is great and keeps you turning the pages! We also finally find out what happened to Viridian! So we don't get the entire story but it's enough to leave you wanting more and satisfied at the same time.
