Mary B. Barbee is the author of the Amish Lantern Mystery Series. As an avid fan of all mystery and suspense in print, on television and in film, Mary believes the best mystery is one where the suspect changes throughout the story, keeping the audience guessing. She enjoys providing an exciting escape for a few hours with stories her readers can't put down - and always with a surprise ending.

When not writing, Mary is either playing a couple sets of tennis or a strategy board game with her two witty daughters and her kindly competitive mother. The four of them share a home in the Inland Northwest in the beautiful town of Spokane, Washington with their really cute - but sometimes naughty - chihuahua.

Again a winner.

Once again old friends and new. A well crafted story, characters developing nicely and becoming more and more believable. Well worth the wait. I can't wait for the next book.

Another endearing short story by Mary B Barbee. Ms Barbee is a gifted and talented author. She weaves a story in which she is able to tell the story of the Amish and the English in a why that makes you feel that you are right there, that you are part of the story, even thinking that you know what is going to happen next, but your wrong and she takes another twist and turn. I have enjoyed this story and this entire series to date. This is a brilliant read! It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. The world building is detailed and imaginative. This novel has strong, well developed characters and an interesting story line that keeps you turning the pages. I recommend this novel and would read more novels by this author. I gave this honest, voluntary review after being given a free copy of the novel.

The book is more than brilliant and hope that it continues that way too but the intrigue and ensuing problems which were predicted just made the book that much more interesting.

Saving Grace is book 3 in the standalone Amish Lantern Mystery Series.

Sneak-peek excerpt:

Sheriff Streen wished he could make this right, but unfortunately, an anonymous note and no other clues did not warrant an arrest of Sam Graber.

He ran his hand through his hair and said, “I can promise to move swiftly with an investigation into the cause of the fire. The best-case scenario is we find a clue on the scene that leads us to arrest Sam Graber for arson. So, go home. Make sure no one even walks around that burned barn of yours. I need to call the fire department first, but we’ll head that way right after I hang up the phone.”

Jacob stood, thanked the two men, and headed swiftly out the door.

Mark picked up the phone and dialed the number to the Mainstay County Fire Department. “Hi, yes, this is Mark Streen, Mainstay County Sheriff. I’m calling to talk to the chief about a fire in Little Valley that occurred last night or early this morning.”

As he sat on hold, waiting to speak to the fire chief, he looked over at Deputy Jones. “If you want a cup of coffee, you’d better grab it now and drink it fast. It looks like it might be a pretty exciting first day on the job for you.”

Mary has yet to disappoint me when it comes to her wonderful cozy mysteries. The details, the characters, and the storyline really bring the reader into the experience and Saving Grace is no exception. If you enjoyed the other books in the ALMS then you will definitely love this one- I was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
