Single but in a Relationship with God: Embrace the Single Season without Settling for Less than God's Best

Rate this book
It can be tempting to take things into our own hands and settle for relationships that are less than God's best. Fear of singleness has caused many singles, including Gabrielle Santiago, to settle for relationships that have pulled them away from God and His amazing plans. When Gabrielle left home at the age of 18 to be with a man she thought was her everything, she learned that only Jesus satisfies, and in Him she found freedom to let go of her fear of singleness.

The single season doesn't have to be a time of emptiness and fear. It can be a fulfilling one as we embrace our relationship with God. Learn from Gabrielle's journey, from relying on men for her life and identity to relying on Jesus and walking away from the fear of singleness. You will learn how to embrace your single season with boldness as you embrace your relationship with God. Through this book, you will learn what it means to have a relationship with God and to thrive in your single season.

I enjoyed this read. Great book for discussion groups, or to work through on your own. Though it’s a short read I took it slow and usually read a chapter a day. Gave me time to think over what I read. Lots of scripture references. Overall, I’m happy I read, but probably wouldn’t reread. Sometimes the paragraphs seemed to read choppy like the author would write her thoughts as quickly as they came to her and she didn’t organize them to flow well.. Other times, I followed along perfectly and sometimes found myself saying “Yeah, I’ve felt this too.” If this title or synopsis speaks to you then it’s probably on your heart to read it. I do recommend if you’re feeling called to read it, then you should read once. Personally it’s not one I would refer back to but I’m happy I experienced it once.

Gabrielle Santiago's Single but in a Relationship with God is a heartfelt and empowering guide for anyone navigating singleness with faith and hope. Gabrielle’s vulnerability and wisdom shine through as she shares her journey from relying on relationships for identity and fulfillment to finding true satisfaction and freedom in Christ.

One of the most powerful aspects of this book is the deep hope it offers for dealing with loneliness. Gabrielle reassures readers that the single season doesn’t have to be marked by fear or emptiness but can be a time of rich connection with God and personal growth. Her story is a reminder that we are never truly alone—God is always with us, providing stability and assurance in ways no human relationship can.

Gabrielle’s practical insights challenge readers to let go of relationships that aren’t God’s best and to embrace the abundant life God desires for us. Her wisdom about living without fear, trusting God’s timing, and thriving in singleness is both inspiring and deeply relatable.

Whether you are single, seeking direction, or simply longing for a closer relationship with God, Single but in a Relationship with God offers profound encouragement. Gabrielle’s words instill confidence to trust God’s plans and walk boldly into the purpose He has for each of us. This book will leave you feeling hopeful, empowered, and deeply loved by the One who never fails.

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for hope, freedom, and purpose in their single season!

I enjoyed reading this book! I liked how she talked about singleness. How she talked about not jumping into a relationship just because you're lonely. Enjoy your singleness in this season and wait for the one who God has for you. Don't think you have to wait to enjoy life cause you're not in a relationship with someone. Live your life for God now. Only God can satisfy you. Put God first and keep putting Him first. If that relationship draws you away from God, then it's not the right relationship for you. She goes on to talk about how God brought her husband and how she had to let go of her ex. I definitely recommend if you're a woman and single. It's a book I will probably read again and keep.

This book was so brilliant in so many ways. It isn’t your typical “just enjoy your single season, bye!” The author did a wonderful job of sharing her testimony as well as giving the reader encouragement to enrich your single season that God has blessed you with! Wouldn’t recommend this to any girls under 14 simply because she doesn’t mention sex, but overall a wonderful book I will forever cherish!

Gaby, this was such a beautiful memoir that I will always cherish in my heart. Thank you for being my fellow sister in Christ and helping me strengthen my faith in god. I truly hope that you will write more in the future and I suggest that maybe you could cut some of the repetitiveness in this one.
