The Lost Prince is the third book in the Power of Fae series by Michelle Bryan, it was an interesting read and kept me entertained. The story continues as Jette, Zoe, Jill, and a couple of others try to get to the final elemental before Asha gets to him and destroys them all with the help of a blood-magic-infused Starke.
A lot is going on with Jette in this one, she has so much on her shoulders, a rebellion to help with, a search for the final elemental, learning more magic, and dealing with an evil Starke. The very same Starke who has mentored her and who she has grown feelings for and worst yet she has to go through all of this without him by her side, for the first time since she started this journey Jette has to stand up alone. While Jette uses attitude, angry and quips to deflect things she is more determined than ever to set the prism right and better the multiverse. She's still scared and has all her doubts but she isn't backing down especially when it comes to Starke.
Jette's loyalty to Starke knows no bounds, she thinks she can bring him back from his mother's mind control, she is willing to bet all that she has that she can save him. Starke on the other hand doesn't remember Jette and only has loyalty to his mother. Not gonna lie evil Starke is a little scary especially using those powers full force however due to certain event Jette and Starke end up in a situation together and the more Jette is around him the more she sees a glimmer of the old start and through stubborn determination, she tries to get through to him. It killed me to see these two apart, they work well together, Starke is someone Jette can count on and Jette is someone who believes in him without the judgment of who his parents are, they've always been there for each other and to see them struggle alone is kinda sad.
The story was pretty good Jette and the other elementals jump to another new world to find Sash, the earth elemental. I love seeing what these new worlds look like, their culture, and how the elementals navigate them. Sash's world was interesting and I would have loved a few more scenes in that world, to see what else Michelle could have come up with. I wonder if the guys will jump to more worlds after this book, I hope so because I really like that aspect. Between trying to get Starke back, convincing Sash that he is an elemental who needs to save the multiverse, and trying to stay safe from Asha things were pretty entertaining.
I had only a couple of problems with the book, one was the repetition when it came to Jette and Starke. Not repetition from book to book but in the same chapter, during the same scene. Jette kept being disappointed saying over and over you really don't remember and she did it a lot during the same scene and it was a little annoying. The other was when Jette was betrayed she kept questioning things even after the person said some really bad things. After a few of those lines, it's no doubt that the person isn't who Jette thought they were so what's with the question if this person is the evil incarnate the others say or not? It was just frustrating.
The magic in this series is pretty great, not only is there elemental magic but spell magic and different supernaturals, and a new supernatural creature was introduced. I loved that more spells were used this time, spells for healing, opening, and so much more. Jette isn't that good at it yet but she seems to be getting better at it and I would love a scene in the next book with her training more in spell magic.
The Lost Prince moved pretty quickly with interesting magic, romantic drama, betrayal, and a plot twist that I did not see coming, like holey cow. Seriously that ending was freaking epic and I wanna know where the story is going next, I mean it's obvious what one step is but the rest of it, things are just up in the air and everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have a couple of guesses about what's gonna happen and I'm just gonna have to wait until the next book to see if I'm right.
