Power of Fae #3

The Lost Prince

Rate this book
My worst nightmare just came true.

I'd lost Starke to the darkness of blood magic. My rock. My mentor. The man I loved had suddenly become my mortal enemy.

And worse, I'd made a promise to my grandmother and the clan leaders to eliminate him if I couldn't bring him back from the abyss. I didn't have a choice. It was the only way to lift the kill on sight order on his head. Still, not one of my smarter decisions.

But one thing at a time. First we needed to find the last elemental, convince him he was a magical being, get him to jump with us to another world, and fight in a war for the multiverse. Easier said than done since Starke was determined to stop us every step of the way, and we were running out of time.

If I couldn't convince Starke of who he truly was, and soon, our worlds would never be the same.

I received an eARC of this book via the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of this review.

Oh my! I don’t even know where to begin. The Lost Prince by Michelle Bryan picks up a few weeks after the events of The Lost Magic. If you haven’t read the previous books in the series, there may be spoilers to them in this review. Consider yourself warned 😉 Jette is living her worst nightmare. To save her from the evil queen, Starke used blood magic, and now he is just as evil as the queen hunting Jette and the other elementals. As if that wasn’t bad enough, Jette and her new found friends have to convince the Earth elemental that he is magical and teach him magic if they are going to restore the prism and bring balance to all their worlds.

Jette has firmly cemented herself as one of my favorite characters. I love her attitude and spunk and how she refuses to give up even with the odds stacked against her. She made a promise to her grandmother that she would stop Starke if he ever turned, but now faced with that reality she finds she can’t do it. She still sees the good behind the evil consuming him. Jette is determined to save Starke and then do the job she was born to do.

Starke….oh my heart! I didn’t think he could worm his way in any further, but he did. I loved him before, but evil Starke may have won my heart. Like Jette, I couldn’t find it in me to dislike him. Instead, I saw past the evil and found the good that still lived in him, even when Jette had almost given up.

There are two plots that take place in this book. The first is Jette saving Starke. We all know she has too. She loves him too much, even if she hasn’t admitted it to herself yet. She won’t let herself give up on him, even if it costs everything. The second is the series plot coming to a head. The elementals are finally all together, and now it is time to restore the prism and save all the worlds in the process. At first, this second plot point felt a little rushed, but it made sense in the end. Trust me 😉 I loved this conclusion, and I am highly hopeful for more from this multiverse of worlds.

Overall I really enjoyed The Lost Prince. Michelle Bryan is one of my favorites. Her ability to weave a story is unlike anyone else I’ve read, and this series is no exception. If you enjoy fantasy with a bit of sci-fi mixed in and a dose of romance, I highly recommend it!

The hardest part about writing this review is trying to avoid spoilers. Following on from the events of book 2; Jette and the gang struggle to traverse the worlds needed to reunite the elementals as well as figure out a way to get the prism started again.

What I love about Michelle's writing is how she can lay the seeds of the story in book one even if they don't pay off until book 3. It is a great piece of storytelling that keeps me interested and always guessing. Twists are great but there is nothing like a prediction coming true!

If you are looking for an action packed story filled with love, loss and the occasional sarcastic comment then this is the one for you!

I REALLY had to force myself to slow down and read this last book of the lost trilogy. Once again Michelle has kept me up turning pages, and escaping reality to Endova.
Jetta and the crew are still saving the world(s), but of course things don't always go the way as planned.
I don't want to spoil anything for any of you, but while I kinda had a feeling Michelle had a twist thrown in somewhere, it didn't come from where I expected!
Kinda sad to see it ended, but on to the next chapter!

*Hint* make sure to read way to the last page!

The Lost Prince is the third book in the Power of Fae series by Michelle Bryan, it was an interesting read and kept me entertained. The story continues as Jette, Zoe, Jill, and a couple of others try to get to the final elemental before Asha gets to him and destroys them all with the help of a blood-magic-infused Starke.

A lot is going on with Jette in this one, she has so much on her shoulders, a rebellion to help with, a search for the final elemental, learning more magic, and dealing with an evil Starke. The very same Starke who has mentored her and who she has grown feelings for and worst yet she has to go through all of this without him by her side, for the first time since she started this journey Jette has to stand up alone. While Jette uses attitude, angry and quips to deflect things she is more determined than ever to set the prism right and better the multiverse. She's still scared and has all her doubts but she isn't backing down especially when it comes to Starke.

Jette's loyalty to Starke knows no bounds, she thinks she can bring him back from his mother's mind control, she is willing to bet all that she has that she can save him. Starke on the other hand doesn't remember Jette and only has loyalty to his mother. Not gonna lie evil Starke is a little scary especially using those powers full force however due to certain event Jette and Starke end up in a situation together and the more Jette is around him the more she sees a glimmer of the old start and through stubborn determination, she tries to get through to him. It killed me to see these two apart, they work well together, Starke is someone Jette can count on and Jette is someone who believes in him without the judgment of who his parents are, they've always been there for each other and to see them struggle alone is kinda sad.

The story was pretty good Jette and the other elementals jump to another new world to find Sash, the earth elemental. I love seeing what these new worlds look like, their culture, and how the elementals navigate them. Sash's world was interesting and I would have loved a few more scenes in that world, to see what else Michelle could have come up with. I wonder if the guys will jump to more worlds after this book, I hope so because I really like that aspect. Between trying to get Starke back, convincing Sash that he is an elemental who needs to save the multiverse, and trying to stay safe from Asha things were pretty entertaining.

I had only a couple of problems with the book, one was the repetition when it came to Jette and Starke. Not repetition from book to book but in the same chapter, during the same scene. Jette kept being disappointed saying over and over you really don't remember and she did it a lot during the same scene and it was a little annoying. The other was when Jette was betrayed she kept questioning things even after the person said some really bad things. After a few of those lines, it's no doubt that the person isn't who Jette thought they were so what's with the question if this person is the evil incarnate the others say or not? It was just frustrating.

The magic in this series is pretty great, not only is there elemental magic but spell magic and different supernaturals, and a new supernatural creature was introduced. I loved that more spells were used this time, spells for healing, opening, and so much more. Jette isn't that good at it yet but she seems to be getting better at it and I would love a scene in the next book with her training more in spell magic.

The Lost Prince moved pretty quickly with interesting magic, romantic drama, betrayal, and a plot twist that I did not see coming, like holey cow. Seriously that ending was freaking epic and I wanna know where the story is going next, I mean it's obvious what one step is but the rest of it, things are just up in the air and everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have a couple of guesses about what's gonna happen and I'm just gonna have to wait until the next book to see if I'm right.

What an epic conclusion! I didn’t think this series could get better but I was wrong.
It picks up right where it left off with Starke under Asha’s control but I love him even as evil Starke. Jette believes he can come back, but not only that she believes they can still beat Asha.
Amidst a devastating betrayal, a shocking discovery, and a wickedly cool battle, Jette never stops fighting.
I’m so freaking excited to learn she’ll be in the final Bixby book!
This series is amazeballs, and I’m sad it’s over.

I’m almost lost for words. Almost.
This final offering in this current series was nothing short of phenomenal. It brought such a mix of emotions at certain points in the story, chiefly because you were at one with the story. Such a rollercoaster ride of adventure and magic. Even the romantic scenes were tastefully written.

I know it’s a cliche but I couldn’t put the book down.
Masterful storytelling at its very best. We expect no less from Michelle ( even after what she wrote about Cheerios.)

A book not to be missed for sure.

A Satisfying Conclusion to this Brilliant Trilogy

I confess that I binge-read this entire Urban Fantasy series. I started and finished this third installment today and it did not disappoint. There were some unexpected plot twists in this one that kept me glued to it's pages. This was the first series that I read by Michelle Bryan and now I will be on the hunt for her others.
