Fated mate shifters, forced into a marriage that neither can accept unless they both do.
Davin has lived in Dublin on the outskirts of shifter society her whole life. A soldier among soldiers she has battled the Hunters until her cell is wiped out by a devastating hit.
She heads to Castle Brannach for reinforcements but is thrown into the center of the Ravensgaard court, only to discover she is fated to marry the Lord’s strikingly handsome son, Riordan. But the longer she stays at the Lord’s castle, the more she realizes his self-righteousness and entitlement are weaving destruction against their own people.
Riordan has lived in the shadow of his father his whole life. Controlled and trained to be the next Lord of the Ravensgaard he has become disillusioned with the choices his father has made for their people, but he lacks the ability to do anything about it.
Until her.
Davin. The fiery red head who is his fated mate. He feels it from the second he sees her, but she is aloof and disinterested. The only way he can get her interest is to break with his father and go after the Hunters in Dublin with Davin.
Will these two be able to forge a new alliance and go against the very power that holds the Ravensgaard throne?
I gave this two stars instead of one because I finished the story. The author has a goid concept, but needs assistance in its execution. From inconsistencies in details to switches in narrator and tense to cringe-worthy intimacy (the author is obviously uncomfortable writing explicit scenes) to simple misspellings and incorrect word use, the manuscript is a wreck and needs a few rounds with a competent editor. As it stands, this story--entertaining as it --cannot be considered ready for public consumption.
This book had a good concept but the Segway was not smooth between chapters and it felt like you skipped chapters missing important parts of the story.
Unfortunately this one just was not for me. I felt that the execution of this story could have been a lot better. I think if the author would go back at it and maybe get a better editor or some better beta readers this one could be amazing. But as it sits it is just lacking in story and content. The story itself felt super confusing and all over the place and I never had a good grasp on what was really going on. Although this book is super short it could have been done a lot better.
2.5 stars. I feel like the bones were here to make a good book but it just fell a little short of "good." This book seriously needs an editor. So so so so many mistakes. Mistakes on every single page, it felt like. Inconsistencies. Plot holes and loose ends. Changes in POV mid-sentence. Things that a good editor could help fix to really take this up a level. The sex scenes were also not great. They made me wonder if this book were really written by a man. They were pretty cringey.
Davin and Siobhan flee from Dublin where their Ravensgaard clan was slaughtered. They head to Castle Branach, where the closest Ravensgaard are. There Master Murtagh, proposes she marry his eldest son Riordan. She learns she is the long lost granddaughter of The House of Cavanaugh.
DNF. Seemed to be well written but the plot failed to hold my attention. Skimmed to see where this was going and it looks like there are plenty of twists but seems a bit YA. No interest in continuing the series.
