Moon-Force 1 by Janelle M. Adams is a sweet, middle grade read that packs in fantasy, friendship and fun.

I truly found this book magical! Janelle M. Adams is a talented, young author with lots of potential. It's hard to believe this is her first book (and man, am I proud and envious of her publishing abilities!).

Welcome to a world of fantasy, where science fiction and royalty smash together. The kingdoms were separated by war and harsh times, the young Princess Mesa being shipped off to Earth to be in a better, safer place until the right time came. Now Ethan comes to bring Mesa home, to a world that is being torn apart. But she is the chosen one, per say, and will help right these wrongs.

This book has action, friendship, a potential romance, and lots of fun all in under one hundred ages. It's a quick and easy read that middle grade lovers will adore. This is the kind of book I loved back in my elementary school days (but we were limited for books in my school's library, so you'll have to forgive me for not picking up much sci-fi and fantasy back then. I think I'm making up for it now!).

I highly recommend this book. It's sweet, short, and fun! It's easy to read and can easily show middle grade readers that one day they too can be an author (maybe sooner than they think!).

Five out of five stars!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review. I also had the opportunity to be a beta reader (and I'm mentioned in the acknowledgements! YAY!).

I am utterly impressed. You see, the author, is a young lady and this is her very first novel.

The story made me think of Anastasia. In fact I even listened to the soundtrack while I was reading this book. Even though it had shades of Anastasia it was really nothing at all like that as this book was much more fantastical. I don’t remember seeing any half girl half unicorn in Anastasia.

I’m astounded by the creativity of the author. She is a very clever young lady and I look forward to book number two in the series.

I almost forgot to mention the author is also an artist. The start of each chapter gifted the reader with original artwork.

Again I am very impressed and I was very entertained. Fabulous story.

Mesa White is enjoying a normal teenage life on planet earth until she receives an unexpected visit and learns she is princess from a far-away world called Satellite. Ethan informs her that she is the only one who can save them from the evil, Mirwilla. Mesa will be their savior when she employs her special powers,

Mesa wants to help, but she is confused and perplexed. What are these powers and how can they be useful in saving the planet? Can she trust this boy named Ethan?

The book contains a lot of magic, fantasy, and adventure. There are twists and turns that will entertain young readers. The artwork is well-done and appealing. I would suggest using a bit less dialogue and more active voice. This is book one in a series, so I am eager to follow the progress of this young writer.

Moon-Force 1 is the story of a young teenage girl named Mesa who discovers she's a princess from a far-away planet. It's her job to save it from the evil Queen Mirwilla.

It's a lovely debut story full of adventure. The young author does a very fine job of describing the characters so readers can picture exactly what they look like. The illustrations at the beginning of each chapter are also nicely done.

Middle-grade readers who enjoy fantasy stories will enjoy this book and may even be inspired to write their own.

Moon-Force 1 by Janelle M. Adams
This book starts out with a link to the author's website and dedication and acknowledgment pages.
This book reminds me so much of the "we are heroes: because of the lead lady Mesa. She starts out as a young child and is raised by others and in time she meets her relatives.
She has more questions than answers. There is a lot of science fiction, space, magic, fantasy, travel and so much more for this story to be told.
Would make an awesome gift for boys or girls and it has something for everyone.
We get to watch as she grows older, into a teen and handles situations.

Moon-force 1 by Janelle M. Adams is a delightful story of lost princesses, magical lands, and a battle between good and evil.

This young author penned a unique tale written from the young heroine’s POV. Her youthful enthusiasm simply shines with colorful descriptions and a few surprises.

I look forward to seeing what Janelle comes up with next as she follows in her Mother and older sister’s footsteps.

I think this is very well written for a author as young as Janelle M. Adams. I was incredibly impressed with how well thought-out it was and the fact that the author illustrated the book herself. I was overall very impressed and I will definitely be recommending it to all my students.

For next book I would love to see more description and world building. Where does the magic come from? How do they know what spells to use? Are there books that say what each spell does?

Adventure and science fiction meld into a fun tale about a princess, who needs discover her true self to save those she loves.

This book would make a lovely, nightly read-aloud. The first chapter sets the stage and background, reading much like a fairy tale. Then, in the second chapter, the characters gain personality and the true adventure begins.

Imagination runs high as this one travels between far-away worlds, princesses, and evil queens. Mesa is a sweet girl with a big heart, who has many friends and family. She's easy to connect to and fun to root for, right along with Ethan. I suggest this one as a read-aloud because it's the type of read to let dreams and imagination take flight, which will especially come to life when hearing it told by a loved one.

Those readers, who are sure of their words but not ready for longer tales, will find the short chapters and quick pace as well as the short length ideal. The vocabulary is at their level, yet still introduces a few tougher words every now and then. It's an easy read with tons of adventure and will have princess and planet friends curious what might happen next.

Moon Force is a book geared towards preteens. An evil sorceress destroys a planet and casts a curse. Only the Princess, Mesa, can help her fallen planet. There’s just one problem - she doesn’t know she’s royalty! With the help of an old friend, Ethan, and a few new friends, Mesa will have to conquer the evil Mirwilla and save her people.

I enjoyed the overall story, but the editing could use some work. I would have also loved just a bit more information about her training and spells. The drawings were well done!

Fun fact - Mesa’s favorite color is purple.

"Moon-Force 1" by Janelle M. Adams is a great book for tweens and teens that is a mix between a middle grade chapter book and a graphic novel with great anime pictures to start each chapter! The book draws the reader right into the story. It will really get your kids wanting to read to see what happens.
The book could be great to inspire other kids to dream big knowing that a young author wrote and illustrated this book herself.
