He’s pushed every Prize beyond her limit. And today he chose me.

I’m not new to this game. I was abducted and made to work as a Prize for the past year. Dozens of alien fighters have claimed me. None scare me.

None… other than the prisoner known as the “Devil.”

When a riot kicks off and the prison is hurled into chaos, no one knows what they’re doing… or how high the stakes are.

No one except the Devil.

He has a plan to escape and takes me with him.

With the prison guards hot on our tail and closing fast, will the Devil trade me for a shuttlecraft and freedom? Or will he accept the burning passion growing between us and our destiny as fated mates?

Devil in the Hold is a full-length, standalone alien sci-fi romance. It features a possessive, alpha alien in intense, steamy scenes with his human mate. There are no cliffhangers or cheating, and a happily ever after is guaranteed!

Devil in the Hold es un escape asombroso!

Devil In The Hold de Tammy Walsh Serie Fated Mates of Breeder Prison libro 3

Argumento:

Ha empujado cada premio más allá de su límite. Y hoy me eligió a mí.

No soy nueva en este juego. Me secuestraron y me obligaron a trabajar como premio durante el año pasado.

Docenas de combatientes alienígenas me han reclamado. Ninguno me asusta.

The sci-fi nerd inside me was highly entertained by Devil in the Hold. But the romantic in me was underwhelmed. Although there is a lot of awesome details about space and the alien planet they’re on that kept me glued to the book, there just wasn’t enough chemistry between the MCs for me to really categorize it as a romance.

This space tale takes place in an intergalactic prison where our heroine, Agatha, is a “Prize” for the inmates that fight in the prison rings.

She gets claimed by Egara, an inmate with a reputation. He’s a big red alien with menacing horns on his head, who fascinates historian junkie, Agatha, from the very beginning.

When Egara chooses Agatha as his Prize, it’s solely based on the metal brooch on her dress, not really for any special, one of kind pull towards her. She is one of countless Prizes he’s claimed and used for his own purposes. Which is to take metal pieces/jewelry from them to build a machine that he needs to plan his escape.

They both pretty much end up together by sheer luck. Not very romantic, IMO. I kept expecting to read some sweet moments between them or some emotional dialogue but it’s mostly them fighting for their lives and giving in to their convenient sexual attraction

Their story really became more interesting when they are forced to survive together in the desert planet. The world building and suspense of the outside dangers was pretty cool. The side characters they encounter also built up the story.

Long story short, this was a good read for the non-romantic parts. As a romance, this one read almost like a rough draft or part of the story, not the whole. Especially since I don’t think we ever find out how Agatha even ends up as Prize in a galaxy far, far away. Had potential but was a miss for me.

Agatha (h), a human abducted and used as a Prize for alien fighters in an interstellar prison, is chosen by Egara (H), an intimidating Vulcarian prisoner known as the Devil. Despite his fearsome reputation, Egara is different from the others who have claimed Agatha. He sees her as essential to his elaborate escape plan rather than just another prize, and when a volatile prison riot provides the chaos to aid his escape, Egara take Agatha with him. As they journey through a perilous desert on a harsh planet, Agatha's knowledge as a historian proves invaluable, helping them navigate the cultural complexities of the beings they encounter. The pair's relationship deepens from captive and captor to mutual allies, facing challenges from carnivorous plants to prison guard drones, their bond strengthens, transitioning from mere survival to a profound connection. Hot and steamy fates mates romance with lots of danger, violence, threats, challenges, and struggles as they seek to escape and survive.

This is a new author to me & I really enjoyed reading this adventurous, fast-paced Sci-fi alien romance. The plot has good world building with some splendid scene descriptions & the action begins within the first few pages. The two main characters are strong-willed individuals & they entwine well with each other although at times although at times they are inclined to land themselves in some problematic situations & react with jaw-dropping escapades while trying to escape.
It is about: A young female librarian (Agatha) was abducted from earth to be used as a prize for the various winners of alien prison fights on a desolate planet. She was chosen by a large horned red-skinned male Vulcarian alien (Egara) as his prize & after spending some time together they both manage to escape during a prison riot but have to face a very unforgiving planet.
There is: a brutal prison (Ikmal), guards, pirates, a prize pool of women, strange carnivorous plants, fated mates, action, adventure, intrigue, suspense, riots, danger, threats, conflict, violence, determination, escape, desperation, strange feelings, longings, confrontations, manipulations, complications, unexpected assistance, compromises, steamy scenes & a satisfying conclusion.

Devil in the Hold by Tammy Walsh just didn’t work for me. The story had an interesting premise, but the execution left much to be desired.

First off, the characters felt flat and underdeveloped. The protagonist lacked personality, and her motivations were hard to relate to or even understand at times. The love interest, while supposed to be a “dangerous” and “mysterious” figure, came off as cliché, with predictable lines and reactions that felt recycled from other similar stories.

The pacing was another issue. It alternated between being too slow and suddenly jumping into rushed scenes that felt forced, making it hard to stay engaged. Instead of creating tension, it ended up feeling disjointed, and any suspense or excitement quickly fizzled out.

Finally, the writing itself didn’t help. The dialogue was awkward and stilted, and some passages felt overly descriptive without adding value to the story. I kept hoping for something to draw me in, but ultimately, I couldn’t connect with the plot or the characters.

Overall, while the book had potential, it didn’t deliver. If you’re a die-hard fan of the genre, you might find something to enjoy, but I found it to be a tough and ultimately unsatisfying read.

Agatha was a human taken from earth to become a prize for the Ikmal Alien prison fights for the past year, her body used so much she learnt not to fear the alien brutes, she was inquisitive and at times found that her downfall in being picked. Egara is a Vulcarian, after choosing Agatha as his prize he took her back to his cell, the morning after they were awaken by the sound of alarms, the prisoners where rioting. Egara had waited for the right time to escape, and the riot would give him the perfect opportunity, only he couldn't leave Agatha behind, and the prize pool was under attack, there's was only one other option to take her with him. With the desires building between them, could they really be fated mates? can they make it out alive and survive to freedom? This is well written and nicely paced through out  the story grabs and holds your attention and the characters sizzle with swoonworthy chemestry. This series by Tammy just keeps getting better! The world she creates just transports you through vivid detailed descriptions and dialogue and leaves you satisfied at the end!

I enjoyed this book and it was very well written with believable characters and good descriptions. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is because there really is no romance in the plot and it seems to have nothing to do with a breeder prison. The females are kept prisoner as prizes for the male fighters to enjoy sexually forced mainly. There is no mention of breeding, pregnancy or children in the entire story. So basically the connotation is the females are raped and not for breeding. Then there really isn't anything romantic between the lead characters. He just picked her for her jewellery but used her sexually because she was available then they escape together because he does seem to feel something for her but it is never explored really or expanded on due to the other happenings while escaping and the challenges they face there. then at the end they are magically in love. I think the author really missed an opportunity to incorporate more romance into the plot and truly make it a romance story.
it's worth reading as it's interesting but as a romance it kind of fails.

I received an arc copy of this book and this is my honest voluntary review.

You do not realize that Love will find you even in the most volatile of places! Get ready for these warriors to fight for what they want and get to be with their mates! I am so loving this series! She brings these characters to life and holds our hearts in within her grasps. These alpha men are not only powerful but they do not take kindly to taking what they consider theirs. Meet Agatha and Egara. He has been a prisoner for so long that the only thing he can remember is just that being a prisoner. Agatha was stolen as are all of the prizes. Under the ever watchful eye of the Warden it becomes clear throughout this story that it is the prisoners who really run the show. He is the real villain here. SO come and see what these two characters will be getting up to. You will not be sorry that you did! Miss Walsh brings the goodies to the forefront. Remarkable storylines and fantastic stories to escape into!

3.5 stars. This story has historical rape and real-time threat of rape within it. I think it should come with trigger warnings for those for whom they apply.

The female lead has been a “Prize” for fighters in a prison system after being abducted from Earth. The male lead is imprisoned with an escape plan and, to finalise his escape plan, chooses the female lead as his prize for the evening as he wants her jewellry for his escape.

The female lead has perfected the art of escaping into her imagination as a coping mechanism and has maintained a curiosity about the world that is lovely to see and not realistic for most. The male lead, after being initially totally focused on his plans, manages to care about the female lead.

The story is dual POV, and well edited. I admit I struggled somewhat to connect to the characters because they didn’t resonate for me.

I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first of Tammy Walsh's books I've read and it definitely won't be the last.
Agatha is a Prize in a prison. Egara is a prisoner charged with piracy. He chooses her for a night but not for what she thinks. She is wearing a necklace that he takes an interest in and during the evening she literally has to throw herself at him before he makes a move on her. The fact that she was warned his nickname is Jackhammer was beside the point. She figures she may as well be in for a penny in for a pound. It's a good thing she did, because the following morning there is a riot and Egara manages to get him and her out of the building and into the desert. But he grew up in surrounds like this and knows how to survive. Their companionship turns into friendship and that turns into something much deeper as they face trials, tribulations, danger and seeming betrayal.
Highly recommended read.

Dark Setting, Lightened With Love

This whole series takes place in the darkest setting imaginable. Each story, like this one is an improvible love story. Each is also almost an instalove mating with plenty of spice which sets up daring escapes. There are editing errors to get around to distract from the narrative in a few to many instances to rate a five star, but I would still recommend reading it. As a distraction, it rates pretty high marks. At least it isn't just a contemporary romance trope thinly disguised as a Sci-Fi Romance. I dislike the fact that so many authors have jumped into the Sci-Fi Romance field, with the same old stories of the other genre substituting just maybe the skin color or number of appendages of their mafia or Billioniare or whatever heroes with so called aliens without building a real alien world around them. At least this author builds a totally weird world around her stories.

Agatha finds herself in a "prison for alien beings" she is the one of the "Prizes" for the Prisoners that
are "winners" of the fights. As a former librarian she is very smart and finds that she is fascinated by the inmates cultures and the planets they lived on. She is "chosen" by a fighter who picks her for his prize. Egara is very interesting to her, she wants to learn more about him. Later in a prison riot they escape, and face a planet- a moon really- that is harsh and dangerous, plants that kill, trying to escape to the shuttle, Egara's "crew" has hidden for him. This is a very fast paced story where they learn to trust and give for each other. I think it might become a very interesting saga.

Agatha is abducted from Earth as a "Prize" for the winners of fights that prisoners are forced to fight each other for the entertainment of the galaxy. These are brutal aliens of every kind and the one rule of the Pool is don't fall for any one of them. So when Agatha is chosen by Egara, she keeps trying to keep her distance, but it's hard when he keeps being so attentive. Egara, was all set to leave her, but something about her just keeps drawing him back to him. Could it be, she's his fated mate? Great characters, loved the storyline, full of action, adventure, danger, romance, great worldbuilding. I went back and read the first 2 books. Loved them, too!!

This series just gets better with each book I read. It captured me from the first page and I couldn't put it down! Action, danger and heat from the start...
In the prison Ikmal you do what you must to survive. Prisoners become gladiators and fight. Women become Prizes. Agatha was a historian on Earth before she was abducted. She is chosen by the victorious Egara. A pirate captain, he is waiting to escape. A prison riot is the perfect opportunity. He takes Agatha with him. Tales say no one can survive the desert outside the prison. They take a dangerous trek across a land full of dangers while being hunted by the prison guards. Will they survive long enough to discover what is happening between them? Will they escape or die trying?

Another great read. This tells the story of Agatha, a human pleasure prize chosen by an alien fighter Egara. After their night together, they wake to a riot in the prison. Egara takes her with him, uncertain it is a wise decision. Fleeing into the desert in the hope of finding his hidden shuttle. They face drones, eating giant plants and even end up at a place that Egara finds his shuttle. Their are further hiccups with Agatha being caught by the drones. More flesh eating monsters to break free from and finally being left for fend for themselves. Egara's ship arrives to save their day and a HEA future to look forward to.

Escape to Destiny ? . . .

Agatha, a human, had been abducted as a prize to be chosen for the night by the winning alien fighter. She is with Egara tonight, but they wake up in the midst of a prison riot. With the resulting confusion, Egara takes Agatha along with him as he escapes into the dangerous desert to find his shuttle which has been hidden away.

The action kicks up even higher as they face horrible things that threaten their lives. The prison guards also chase them down once they realize they have escaped. What will happen now? Will Agatha be traded for a means of escape? Or could she be the Devil’s future – Egara’s fated mate?

Fantastic Story with plenty of action and a planet that's out to kill anyone that escapes the prison. Agatha was abducted and in the year she's been at the prison planet she's been the prize given to the alien fighters that win. The last fighter to win her is Egara, The Devil" a Vulcarian pirate, who chooses her the day before a prison riot. He takes Agatha with him when he escapes into the desert looking for his shuttle. They are running not only from the guards but eating plants, and flesh eating monsters. Can a love evolve from this kind of danger? Is there even an HEA in Agatha and Egara's future? Excellent Continuation of the Series

This series of stories, while each originated in the same prison, still managed to vary in all aspects. The lead characters were very different even though they performed the same character roles. The females were used to satisfy, sexually, the victorious males who won combat matches. They were selected by the victors and given no choice. The males were aliens that could treat them any way they wanted. The males were strong physically and smarter than they appeared. Good imaginative writing gave us very different scenarios , stories, adventures, and blossoming love between the protagonists. Enjoy!

I read this book for What the Smut, a podcast my friends and I do about paranormal erotica/romance. Our discussion The Devil and the Flower is full of spoilers but after you read the book check it out.

I enjoyed the story. The characters were interesting and the pace was really good. I had to power through the first couple of chapters of mixed metaphors and overwrought proclamations of pleasure. It dropped off after that and made for a pretty good read. Nothing ever happens as you expect because every jam they get into has a magical fix.

I'm new to this author but liked the description on the book so thought I'd give it a go. It was a great book, fantastic engaging storyline with plenty of action and suspense, some romance some kindness shown by a characters you'd least expect and a happily ever after. I really enjoyed reading it and will certainly look out for this author again. Only complaint was it ended very quickly, I wanted more of Agatha and Egara and would have quite likes to have seen a bit of what happened next, where they ended up.
This was easily read as a standalone

Agatha was abducted from Earth and is now the prize in a prison. When a prisoner wins a fight in the arena the get to chose a prize for the night. Egara choses Agatha the next morning a riot breaks out, this is the opportunity that Egara has been waiting on, now is his chance to escape. But is taking Agatha with him and her slowing him down worth the risk. This is a great book, the characters are engaging and the plot good. I look forward to reading more in this series.

Another well written action packed romantic story in this series is about Agatha, human, who had been abducted as a prize to be given to the winning alien fighter for the night and Egara, Vulcarian pirate, who chooses her only before the next day begins a prison riot occurs and he takes her as they escape their captors. Will they reach his hidden shuttle? This sizzling romantic story as our couple's adventure on their trials and challenges of surviving is a enjoyable story I volunteer to read and review via Booksprout.

There is a prison riot and like most of the other prisoners Egara just wants to escape, the only issue here is that he won a prize and she was asleep in his bed when the alarms went off. What to do? Agatha isn't sure what to expect of the fighter but as he takes her with him to find the ship that was left for him they encounter the prison drones. When Agatha is caught what will Egara do?
I have to say that these fighters are proving to be some of the most honourable males so you have to start wondering how most of them ended up where they are! Cannot wait to see who else makes it out!

I really like this authors writing style. The world, characters and adventure was well thought out and developed. Agatha was a compelling and realistic character. She was making the best of things, as a prize for the fighters in a prison, and didn’t seem to have any delusions as to how things could have been different. I really liked her.

This was a quick read, and didn’t come across as overly flowery or “insta” making for a page turning and engaging read.

enjoyable

but kind of incomplete. endings in the series are abrupt and feel unfinished. there were some continuity issues concerning the fates of the missing girls in the last book with the info provided in this book,as well as the description of the hero (hooves vs toes). speaking of heroes, and speaking of SPEAKING,all these alien males talk like regular american men. a recurring issue with lack of heroine and overall character descriptions, but still a promising series that doesn't live up to its full potential.

Prison Break!

This story is full of danger and excitement. Egar is a former pirate and current prison, Agatha is a former historian and current Prison Prize. They break out together and brave the desert planet. I really enjoyed this story, the characters and their survival plight were gripping, and their fledgling relationship was so tender and brave. I’ll definitely be looking for more books in this series in the future.

Amazing

The tumultuous ending of the exciting trilogy by Tammy Walsh. All three books suck you in to a far off prison where inmates are forced to fight in gladiatorial matches. The winner gets a prize for the night. The ladies who make up the prizes are abducted from their worlds and are as much a prisoner as the inmates. Three human women and three massive warriors find love in a hell like prison. I definitely would recommend anything Ms Walsh writes.
